Kane O’Reilly
Giving a groan of dismay, Kane brought a palm to his forehead. This wasn’t exactly how he’d pictured the initial conversation going, but at least it seemed both Erica and Rianne were having some fun with it all. Coming to the conclusion that he’d be far better off keeping quiet rather than biting on the bait Rianne and Erica were putting out. Kane simply shrugged and after patting his cheeks a couple of times, regained his composure. Mostly. Seeing Rianne so comfortably take a seat made him quite happy, even if she was getting a little dirt on the armrest. As the Sister made some small talk with him and Erica, Kane took the opportunity to duck back into the kitchen as Erica answered first about her experience at the WDL.
“It’s a little different here then what I’m used to, but it seems like a nice place. I think I’ll be able to learn a lot and contribute to protecting this world and what’s important to me.” Erica took her own seat in a nearby armchair, looking to Sister Rianne in interest. “Though so far all I’ve really done is some cooking and cleaning. Can’t say that’s what I pictured when it came to learning how to combat demons.” Giving an offhand laugh, she looked up to Kane as he made his return. “Still, I like it here, and I’m sure there’s plenty that will keep me interested. What about you Kane?”
Stepping over to the coffee table, Kane set down the collection of biscuits and tea on a small tray, before sitting up. “Oh uh, you know, it’s been pretty great… I mean, I haven’t done much yet, but I’m really looking forward to working under Sister Rianne. I’m not sure how much you expect of me, but I promise to show my mettle in the coming days. Any training, any challenge, I’ll face it head on.” Kane nodded in affirmation at Rianne, before collecting a mug to pour her a drink. “How do you have your tea, Sister?” Following through on her request and then moving to do the same for Erica, Miss Decall decided to move the focus of conversation onto Rianne once more.
“So you’ll be training Kane then? Do you have a lot of experience in taking on apprentices?” She asked, though her tone perhaps indicated she already knew the answer to that question. Rianne's reputation was somewhat common knowledge, so even someone less studious then Erica might have their reservations about her capabilities in teaching. Listening to Rianne's answer, Erica leaned in to take a biscuit as Kane handed her some tea. Blinking a bit in surprise as she took a bite, Erica looking up to Kane. “Why, these are divine! Did you make these yourself?” She asked, carefully finishing the rest of her mouthful. Kane simply smiled, brushing his hand on his chest proudly. “Yeah, they’re nothing too special though. The hint of vanilla helps give them a bit more kick though.” Taking another seat now that his guests had been catered to, he turned back over to Rianne, deciding to ask the question that had been nagging at him for a while.
“It’s a shame about Yohan. Did he say why he couldn’t make it tonight?”
