Life shook her head sympathetically. "No, it's okay. I understand. It's hard to focus on the beautiful things sometimes, especially when those things are dying before your eyes. But, ah... let's see, my favorite thing?"
My favorite thing...?
She didn't really have a "favorite thing," did she? She loved everything. It was all hers, and it was all beautiful or intriguing in some kind of way. Then again, she supposed she did like some things more than others, but... be them complex humans or something simple as a bumblebee, she'd never really thought about favorites.
"Trees," she said, suddenly. "I love trees. They start out so small, as only a seed in the earth, and end up ginormous. Their leaves can be orange, green, red or purple, they can sprout beautiful flowers of all kinds, and they provide homes for so many different things. They, in a sense, are life-givers of their own, embracing the beauty of nature and harboring all kinds of unique creatures. Even when turned into wood, they provide shelters for humans, and let's not forget, forests wouldn't even exist if there were no trees."
Kayin followed after Bennie, nervous.
If Kayin really had infected Life with some sort of disease, he wouldn't be able to reverse it. When you mark something for death, one can't simply take it back. It wasn't that simple. But what was he going to tell Bennie?
He continued to gnaw on his bottom lip. "Uh, well, no. Not really. Well, I mean, maybe I'd be able to come up with something, but..."
