Hex ~ #2d3a78
Fredrick knew his comment was uncalled for and a bit childish. He would've never said something like that to a superior. He didn't think of Sebastian as one, but it was still uncalled for. He wasn't planning on apologizing though. Fredrick learned his lesson in this business: If someone makes you feel like shit, smile through it. There will be time for revenge later. The way Sebastian's hand shook as he left for the bathroom, not bothering to acknowledge Fredrick before leaving. He could recognize the signs of losing control. He saw his father and occasionally Douglas lose control more than once. The best thing to do was to leave the man alone. He'll eventually put on his 'big boy' pants and be a proper businessman. Fredrick was aware his family was more on the gangster side of business than typical business owners. His statements to Sebastian were his way of letting the little gangster part of himself out. He tried to be more businessman, but his aggressive nature was hard to control sometimes. He watched the man leave for the bathroom and Fredrick realized he was left alone with entertainer. O Joy... Douglas is better with women than Fredrick. Fredrick tended to find that most women use their sexuality to get their way, something that didn't affect him. Women would become annoyed when the oldest son didn't appreciate or acknowledge their advances. Douglas was the flirt, not him. The smile she gave Fredrick would've been considered dazzling if only it had an effect on him.
"How long have you been working for the Paynes?"
Fredrick kept conversation friendly before she was called back to the stage. She smiled at him before returning to her piano. She seemed like charming woman. Fredrick did sense she was more than just a pretty face. He sat at the table, alone, listening to the music resonating through the room. A flash of black caught his attention. Sebastian was exiting the bathroom, gloves on his hands. Fredrick knew better than to inquire about Payne's newest accessory. However, he wasn't going to let a detail like that be forgettable. The oldest Payne approached his little sister, talking about something. He couldn't pick up what was being heard, but could tell it was something private. Fredrick noticed the man was fond of his sister more so than him or Douglas. He would've blamed it on her being a female, but Sebastian didn't think with his nether region. He handed Esmeralda a card before making his way towards the exit. Payne must've had enough for tonight. When Esmeralda approached him, he knew something was afoot.
"You up for more of these Paynes?"
Fredrick took the paper in her hand, examining it thoroughly. A phone number.
"Is this for business?"
He knew his sister wouldn't mix the line between business and pleasure, but he had to ask. As his sister responded, he noticed an idiot behind Emmy stumbling through the dining room, obviously drunk. Fuck. The idiot was his.
"That fucking idiot. I'm going to kill him.
