Within seconds of teleporting into the room, Conrad knew the mission would soon be over. Several surveillance cameras lined the wall, each showing a different floor of Hydra’s base. One screen showed, what looked like, three guards standing along a glass wall. An excited grin crept onto Conrad’s face, like a child who just heard an ice cream truck. ‘Just the break we need.’

Riley’s idea would work well enough if he was able to fire once they got into the room. Too much teleportation could cause fatigue if done often. Riley’s dizziness after teleporting into the building didn’t go unnoticed, but babying the Baby Hawk would’ve caused unnecessary tension between them.

“As long as I can see where I’m going, I can get us there. Just be prepared to fire once we’re there. We won’t have a lot of time before they signal the alarm. I know my ability makes it difficult for huma-” Realizing what he was about to say could be taken as offense, Conrad tried to remove the foot from his mouth. “Not that you’ve been difficult! You’re doing a fantastic job and you’re a great partner! I just meant that I’m making things difficult, not you. I haven’t done much just moving us around and you’re actually planning all this and I’m just… going to teleport us now.”

Taking a sword in his left hand and tail, Conrad teleported the two of them to the room, avoiding conversation. Conrad quickly took out the first guard, slashing his stomach. The second reached for his gun, but not before Conrad teleported onto him, pulling the guard into a chokehold. Once in the chokehold, Conrad teleported again to the ceiling, latching himself with his suction disks while dropping the second guard onto his friend who he previously cut. Both guard rendered disabled; one with fatigue from teleporting and the other from the weight on his friend falling onto him. Checking on his partner, Riley had taken out the other guard. With a thumbs up, Conrad teleported behind the glass wall, retrieving the envelope before returning to Riley’s side.

“I knew we could do it! First round on me!” With a smile and a hand on his shoulder, Conrad teleported them out of Hydra and back into the sublevel of their academy. His smile turned to concerned look of horror seeing Wren unconscious on the floor. “Is she alright? What happened?”

When Phoebe began to disagree with his idea, T’Chioke wanted to argue. His plan held some risk, but disabling the camera would tip off the guards, blowing their cover. Riding the elevator shaft provided the least risks and with their combined strength, getting crushed wasn’t a possibility. The only reason he didn’t was when she mentioned the key cards’ ability to turn off cameras and the alarms. Not knowing that, the prince’s listened to her idea, interest piqued. Her strategy was solid, had a few risks, but nothing the two couldn’t handle. The prince showed approval with nod since his panther helmet didn’t allow him to show expressions.

What he didn’t expect was for Phoebe to take out a cellphone. He understood when she took a picture of the map, but was further confused when she gestured for him to come closer. It looked like she was taking a ‘selfie’ as the Americans called it. The fade never made its way to Wakanda. Still confused, T’Chioke cocked his head to the side. He looked more like grumpy cat than the confused cat he was. Her explanation made little sense to the prince. “If he thinks he can sneak up on me, I’ll let him test his luck.”

Guarding the door took little effort after Phoebe entered the vents, invisible again, T’Chioke watched as guards went by. All of them trapped in their simulated world, not realizing they were infiltrated. When out of the room came what looked like a Hydra soldier, T’Chioke worried his partner had been defeated. His worry of failing the assignment, and his partner’s condition not that he would admit it, was erased when he heard a feminine voice.

“It's uncomfortable as hell, but it'll make life easier. I won't have to crawl through anymore vents while disguised like this. Just keep watch while I walk through the front door of the next control room. I know we said sub-level ten before, but since I'm dressed like this, just turn invisible once we reach the floor. That way the cameras won't see you."

“If being a hero doesn’t work out, Hydra has a uniform ready. T’Chioke quipped, one of his rare attempts at a joke.

Once on the elevator, everything was smooth sailing until more Hydra guards appeared. T’Chioke told a silent prayer to the Panther god that the mission wasn’t screwed. When the guards spoke to Phoebe in German, he prepared himself to attack. A fight in an elevator doesn’t go well, usually. T’Chioke’s god must have answered his prayer when the guards left and no alarm appeared to have triggered. Upon finding the room, T’Chioke unsheathed his claws. Cutting through the bulletproof glass would take a bit longer, but it was safer than finding a guard and risk getting caught.

Getting to work, he was stopped momentarily by Phoebe’s question. T’Chioke knew of Phoebe’s mother and she was a ruler of a hidden nation. Wakanda is just as mysterious, known by the world, but not truly understood. The question was simple, but the answer is far more complicated. “Sacrifice. Everything you do is for the people of your country. You don’t get to think about yourself when you have thousands depending on you. It can be like walking through a minefield at times. If you make a wrong step, you not only hurt yourself, but the people counting on you. Not very inspiring, but ruling a nation isn’t something anyone can do.”

Letting Phoebe take in his words, T’Chioke used the silence to concentrate on the glass. His claws cut a large hole through the glass, enough to fit himself through. It took only seconds and a careful push for the large glass hole to fall from the wall. The sound of glass shattering was diminished somewhat, but guards would come check it out any minute. Grabbing the envelope and placing it in his suit, T’Chioke hurried to exit with his partner.

“Let’s get out of here.”

Watching everyone scurry around Wren was humorous to the young alien. The girl had the power to heal herself so a few glass shards weren’t going to kill her. The assassin’s daughter would more than likely have some words for the people worrying over her. Ja’zmyn would’ve offered her help to remove the glass shards, but the speedster already volunteered one of the other telekinetic powered people to do it.

“Is she alright? What happened?” The blue demon suddenly appeared with the school’s archer right beside him. It almost comical how something with such a devil like appearance could look so concerned. Not the Ja’zmyn had any room to judge on appearance. Without her human appearance, she would be just as terrifying.

“Nothing you need to concern yourself with.” The words sounded colder than she meant, but it was true. However long it took Wren to heal, she would be fine. Seeing the coffee pot, Ja’zmyn moved towards it. She always keeps instant hot chocolate on her so now seemed like a perfect time for a drink. Before grabbing the cup, she made sure to be as far from Jaxon as she could. ‘Not getting burned today.’
