"Berny and I lived in northern California," Chris smoothly made something up on the spot, stirring her hot chocolate before taking a sip. "Nothing even remotely exciting at all," the brunette scoffed, lowering her mug. "Even Gulfport's more interesting. So, what about you? Where'd you live before moving to Gulfport?" Chris paused to take a bite of her cake. "I mean, I get it if you'd rather not share all of your painful life secrets, but you could at least tell me where you came from.
"And anyway, beating up your bullies goes beyond punching someone where the sun doesn't shine. Hear me out, this stuff is deep psychological shit that I'm not smart enough to delve into, but if bullies are a problem from your past, then in all honesty, you could beat the shit out of all the assholes who want to rip you a new one, but it still wouldn't be enough." Chris shrugged nonchalantly. "Just a thought. You may have not known me very long, but lemme tell you, talking stuff out is really helpful for someone like me - a person who's helping you out of the kindness in my heart." Chris dramatically tapped a fist to her chest. She knew Isaac was going to keep up his "avoid these personal questions at all cost" act - and if Chris was honest, it was the sensible thing to do - but she was just becoming the slightest bit desperate. Anger wasn't known for her patience, which was a quality one needed when dealing directly with Earth and humans, but Chris just wanted out of this "learning a deep career lesson as an Aequus" shit.
Okay, sure, the food on Earth was good, and there was much more... life to the planet than where the Aequus had been residing since the beginning of time, but as tantalizing as human life was, Chris would always be Anger, and Anger was an Aequus. Aequus did not belong on Earth, nor among humans.
Poor little O'Cassedy was just going to have to deal with Chris pounding him into a mold he needed to fit.
