Tsubasa smiled, pleased by Hayashi's enthusiasm. Seeing others so willing to smile and bear whatever was going on was encouraging--so long as everyone remained that cheerful, they would finish making a way out of here and escape without any lives lost.
Down by the pool, Futami laughed, playfully splashing Hayashi back. "I might be!" she exclaimed. "But to be honest, I've never really learned how to swim. Didn't have an ocean nearby and since I wasn't on swim team I didn't use the pool at school--kinda weird, eh? We can learn together!"
She glanced back at Tsubasa. "Yo Sugi, you know how to swim?"
Tsubasa raised an eyebrow. Nicknames already? This really is a friendly bunch.
Not that he minded, per se--they were classmates, after all. Being familiar with each other wasn't anything particularly strange, especially if they ended up spending a very long time on the island.
"I guess," he answered. "I've gone swimming a couple times. My family used to visit the ocean a lot. I'm not the best at it, though, so I'm not sure how I'd do teaching anyone."
"Whoa!" Futami gasped. "Your family must be pretty rich, eh? This is the first time I've ever seen the ocean. Ain't it gorgeous?"
"It is pretty," Tsubasa agreed. "Personally I've always preferred staring at the clouds to staring at the water, but it's still nice to visit every once in a while."
Wakabayashi suddenly pushed open the gate, stepping inside--she immediately moved to sit by the side of the pool next to Hayashi, kicking off her heels and letting her feet dangle in the water. "Good morning," she greeted. "I hope I'm not late. I would have been early, but after yesterday I was in the mood to sleep in a bit."
"You're just in time," Tsubasa said. "...Where's everyone else? What time is it? I thought Kagakagari might be here early, at least, considering he's the one who insisted we stay outdoors."
"It was around 8:20 when I left," Wakabayashi stated. "I believe others are on the way, though I didn't see who."
