‘They aren’t buying it Rei…’ Specter said with dismay. ‘So... you got any other genius ideas?’ It asked sarcastically, waiting for a response from Rei.

“Yeah, feed them another line.” She answered as she tested the controls for a moment before the auto pilot fully disengaged. “Also, how long before we can make a subspace jump?” Rei questioned as she settled in, taking note of their position relative to the Aschen ship. Rushing and panicking would only cause further problems, and they already had one very large problem on their tail.

’T minus 10 minute. The drives do not allow it without a respool… as it currently stands we are still holding at 70% of output.. and need I advise you of what happens if you push towards 100?’ Specter replied with exasperation. A desire for self preservation was generally something that the A.I. possessed, and in this case it was faced with the decision of cutting the drives out from under it’s own captain or facing a worse fate.

“Relax, you’re in good hands.” Rei said with a snort. She knew better than to push the engines for too long, the risk of being drawn into her own wake was too great to not try to avoid. “Try to respool the drives…” She added bluntly as she pulled back on the controls, accelerating hard and peeling off towards the starboard side. “But in the meantime we’re going to play a little game with these guys. How good do think their pilot is?” Rei asked with a lopsided grin.

‘That depends on what your planning to do…’ The A.I. commented, suspecting that this was about to go places it wasn’t going to like. ‘But in the meantime.. I will stall but only because I don’t want grubby little Aschen fingers on my bits and bytes.’ It added grumpily as it rebroadcast the message it had just sent.
