"They're not here!" Cookie wailed with something that was between frustration and anger. "Why aren't they here?" It was empty. Fiyero's eyes were narrowed into a dangerous slit. "This is such a waste of my valuable time. How dare they try to do business when I have soaps to watch!" Eamon knocked his familiar on the head. "Soaps aren't why we're fighting." He reminded the foxy familiar, who vehemently disagreed. "Soaps are clearly the reason for everything!" Erika ignored the idiocy and decided to focus on something else. She stomped on the fingers of one of the minions. "If you don't speak, I will have Cookie go into your head." Erika was never one for cruelty. She didn't like unneeded sadism, no matter the situation. But, well, for every rule, there's always an exception. "And then Cookie will find who your loved ones are, and we will go after them." Sera glanced at her girlfriend, unsettled by the display of violence.
The minion wasn't speaking. Time to go a notch further. "You don't want to know what the noble families can do to your loved ones." The man let out a pathetic cry. "Please don't hurt them, they have nothing to do with this!" Her eyes were cold like steel as she regarded this idiot. "My servant had nothing to do with your business, either. Speak or surrender your family." He was begging now, crying and shivering. "Th-the bosses have a base on the island out at the h-h-harbor please don't tell them I squealed or they'll go a-after my kids... please..." Erika's eyes glared down at the man who thought he deserved mercy. "Unlike him, we don't hurt innocents. Maybe next time pick a better employer. If anything happens to them, it is all your fault." The man screamed and was allowed up, limping to try to get to his family.
"You weren't really going to tell the bosses that he revealed their base, are you?" Sera asked nervously, tugging at her sleeve. She hadn't seen Erika this mad before. It was frightening... it reminded her of - no, now wasn't the time for that. "I probably should." Erika sighed, closing her eyes. "But no, I won't. His children wouldn't deserve the fate that would befall them." They went outside to report this news to Edmund and Rosemary. "Okay, we'll get a boat ready." To poor Fiyero's dismay, they didn't have the option to go back home and take a break. If they didn't immediately chase the lead, it had the risk of the traffickers selling off their property before they could be rescued.
There was no way Erika would let that happen.
They were lucky the enemies tonight were traffickers. The CCC hated human trafficking as much as they hated witches and magic, so Karma decided to let the mages do as they pleased. And so the boat arrived at the island not too long after. A wall of light surrounded the island so that nothing could go in or out. "The wall is bigger this time, it's taking all my mana to maintain it." Edmund grunted. "Erika, I put you in charge. Your servant is your responsibility." She nodded, looking over at Fiyero and Cookie. "You two know what to do. Sera and I will eliminate the enemies in the way. Cookie, follow Clover's scent. Fiyero, make sure Cookie gets to the trail alive." Tonight wasn't a night of justice, or of heroes. Tonight was simply the Harrington family showing the consequences of messing with one of the three Noble houses.
