Between Erika's shadow hopping, Alistair's magic carpet, and Seraphina's rock chunk ride, they were making pretty steady progress, sleeping in shifts to make the trip faster so that they wouldn't have to take any breaks. Currently Alistair was at work, meaning Sera was asleep so she could get her next shift ready. Rosemary was somehow brewing tea in the midst of all of this movement and Maple was clinging closely to Rosemary so that she wouldn't fall. "So is it true that Estelle's dead now?" Alistair asked, looking at them as they neared the ocean's edge. "How did it go?" Erika frowned, not really wanting to remember that time. "She blew herself up to kill your mother. She tried to get your dad but wasn't quite able to." She lowered her head, dizzy from all the traveling.
"I kinda wish we could've had a reconciliation before the end." Alistair, one of her first enemies back when she and Clover were still trying to be heroes, gave her a tiny smile despite his grief. "Don't worry. I'm sure she was full of love for you in the end, Erika. Estelle might act tough, but she really was just a big softy." The girl who killed her father was a softy? It was hard to imagine. But the way she fought to save her from Manfred that day... it was difficult to really say one way or another. "Something must have been pushing her." Rosemary said softly as she thought about it. "The miasma poisoning was probably it. She wanted to break the barrier and see what was on the other side." Mother made a sad sort of laugh as she sipped her tea and offered a cuppa to Maple. "She always was the type to obsess over justice and truth, even as a little girl she was always asking all these questions."
They turned to Maple who made a noise as if she wanted to say something. They were flying over the ocean now, it would take about an hour, and after that Erika would go to sleep so that Sera could take over, allowing Alistair to take his break and get ready for sleep. "She was really nice to me." Maple said softly, eyes to the left as she reminisced on her old Master. "She was probably the best human to me ever since I was sold." The black kitten hadn't had much time to mourn yet but now her eyes were watering as she thought about the light mage who had protected her and babied her all this time. "I'm sure she was happy with you, Maple." Rosemary gave her a snuggle and Maple accepted the affection.
"We'll finish the job she started and fix the world." Alistair said with quiet determination as the ruined blackened land that was no doubt once society revealed itself through the mist of the sea. They were getting close now. Erika was already panting, head spinning, it would be a little while until the first point, the Light point where they would drop off Maple. Sera yawned, accepting Rosemary's tea to spice her up. "Go to sleep, Rika." She said gently, seeing the shadow mage swooning, eyes fluttering shot. "I'll take over now, then we'll take you to your spot, Maple." Already they could feel the miasma's effect on them, clinging to their mana nodes. "You're almost there." The crystal ball lit up, Mallier was speaking to them now as Erika fitfully rested. "Things are fine here. I have crystal balls all through the woods near the Spider's Nest, no one's coming close, and even if they try, we'll see them coming." Rosemary gave her a smile. "Good girl. Eamon really found quite the keeper, didn't he?" Then Mallier suddenly blushed, eyes wide. "Wha? I - uh, um..." The crystal ball shut off abruptly.
