They drove across the bridge, a few more cars making their way through too. The ocean, Erika remembered it very well, being forced to take Manfred and Victoire over to the old world where civilization once was, forced to watch as her big sister ended her life in a brilliant blaze of glory. If only there was a way to save her, to bring her back, to apologize for not being a better little sister. But in the end there was nothing she could do - worrying about the past would not accomplish anything. All she could do now was focus on the future ahead of her to find a happy ending. "We're almost there." She said, hearing the low hum as the car's engine whirred, trucking along. "Then we'll have to go and see what wildlife we can help domesticate. Is that how farmers get their animal friends?"
Alistair shrugged as he looked at them. "I think in the past farmers bought them from other farmers, but that isn't really an option anymore, is it?" Not if society had become a wasteland. The miasma might be cleared but the scars the Earth had from the old world still had to persist, right? "Are you feeling better?" Khryia asked, still smelling like soft lavender, subtle yet sweet at the same time. She was talking to Clover of course. "I heard from Rosie there was a scare." Rosemary let out a laugh and scritched the dragon's head. "Oh you, you don't have to call me that." Khryia's tail thumped and Sera yelled sharply. "Stop! You'll make me mess up my driving!" She didn't technically have the license to drive because she only had one hand but no one else here was able to so it was up to her.
"But you look too young to be a Rosemary!" Khryia protested with a grin. "So I'm calling you Rosie!" Rosemary chuckled, flattered by the compliment as they turned up the hill, getting close to the farmhouse now. "Oh and also I used to be in love with Clover!" Erika rolled her eyes at her dragon. "Why are all the familiars suddenly saying it now?" She asked dubiously and the dragon shrugged. "Dunno! She smells like a taken girl now, maybe that's why?" Erika gave her a look right in the eyes. "Yes she does, because she's mine." Khryia nodded, looking as cheerful as ever. "Yeah! That makes me so happy, Master!" She wriggled a little as the car parked right in, they were here. They were home.
