It really wasn't all that difficult, Marshall thought, following someone who was used to finding his way by beating on the ground with a stick. In fact, nearly the entire distance, he was only a couple feet behind. Now that he was certain that Akma was decended from a bat, it made far more sense as to why he was blind. He just couldn't figure out why, when the scientists were splicing genes, they didn't account for the lack of vision. What use to humans is a blind soldier? He didn't really want to think about it.
Marshall did pay attention when Akma said not to stop even if the people they passed gave him strange looks, but it was hard not to. It wasn't as if he could blame them, really. How often did even SWATS come in this far without it being solely to harrass the inhabitants? When Akma stopped to check on him, he finally spoke.
"So, Akma, tell me about this guy you're taking me to see?"
