filtThe world is cruel, but it's beautiful too.

At the spiral trench, they had no choice but to move forward. "I'll lead the way!" Pariya exclaimed, running ahead, not so far that she was out of sight but enough that she was quite clearly in the lead now. She hummed and swung her arms, skipping as they went through. The bird was keenly watching, wings flapping, almost as if waiting for something. They had to be careful, it was big enough that it could be powerful. "It might have a mutation too." Romo warned as he followed after the pinkette. At the first bend in the path they could see it, there were a few scorched looking corpses. "Did they fail trying to be careful?" As she was about to step forward they heard a sound and Romo grabbed her, pulling her back as fire streamed at them, burning the air.
"Why was it able to attack?" Romo asked. Veronica too was nervous about this. Pariya felt something tickling her head but she decided to ignore because her head always felt tickly, a little more was no big deal for her. The bird let out a cry and more fire blazed around them from it's perch. "But why is it attacking?" She asked, glancing at the burned bodies. "If it wanted food, then these bodies sure don't look eated?" Something didn't make sense here, but they had no choice, they had to keep going. Pariya looked up in the air through the lips of the trench, trying to get a view of the bird. "It's cry sounds sad." It let out another shrill noise, and the pinkette could definitely feel fear coming from it.
Dig.
It seemed it was able to attack at every corner, and so they would send Veronica ahead as the dog was the fastest of them and able to jump out of the way of the blaze each time it tried to attack. After that it seemed to have to recharge, and so the rest of the party could make it through without too much incident. Close enough they were at the exit, free to get to the Mitswald Beach from here. "Okay, let's keep going, we're done here." Other than corpses they saw nothing. Romo looked at Pariya in confusion. "I said we're done here?" Pariya ran past him, continuing down the spiral. Her eyes were wide and she was not smiling, which was odd. "No, I have to dig." She said, continuing to run, following the spiral shape. It was evident she was trying to reach the center. "No! We're at the exit, let's leave!" Romo yelled, trying to grab her arm. The bird let out another cry and Pariya's eyes went wider, glowing.
"No!" She pushed Romo away, clawing at the dirt walls at the end of the spiral loop to keep digging the trench with her bare hands, her nails, with enough force to draw blood. "I have to get to the middle! It's important!" She was crying as she bled her hands against the dirt walls as the mutated bird continued to make it's noises.
