All across Unova, everywhere, the darkness spread. It took only hours for the rush of dark clouds and shadowy raining lights to blanket Unova in full, leaving all but the most northern and remote parts of Unova unaffected. Across every route, and every outdoor area, the stinging and burning shadowy flashes of light, purple streaks of lighting, and rumblings of thunder, set their wrath upon all caught outside of shelters. Many fled into small caves, while many tried to use trees and other outcroppings as coverage to avoid the rain of flashing lights.

Wild Pokemon scattered where they could to hide, though some were caught by the crystals that began rising from the earth. Tainting their very surroundings with their dark and shadowy energies, those Wild Pokemon in the area inevitably would become tainted over time, their aggression towards all increasing, as did their hostility and strength. In each area such a crystal rose, the landscape began cracking and collapsing, the land itself becoming tainted, with the cracks closest to each crystal radiating purple and black energy. Each black crystal was an ominous sign for the land itself.

The oppressive atmosphere couldn't be escaped much longer, and only cave interiors, Anville Town, and the League itself were safe from the effects. Everyone would be affected to some degree, no matter their location.
