Jana watched with sympathy as Everett began to break down. She remembered how she'd reacted similarly when she was cast out of her clan, never able to feel her mother's warm fur again. It had been like they were dead.
Showing a bit of kindness, the she-wolf reached out with a gloved paw and touched the prince's shoulder. As she did, she was shocked by his height; even though he couldn't be a year older than her, he was already a head and shoulders (or more) above the two females.
"Look, my liege," Jana said carefully, not wanting another outburst of grief or prejudice, "I understand that you are still grieving over what happened to your family. While it is good that you cared so much about them, you must move on. If we don't get out of here, you'll just end up sharing the same fate as them, and what good will that do your country? If you want to defeat Lord Corvus and establish justice in this land, you have to keep going. I've seen people who've given up, lying in puddles of their own piss... and that cannot happen to you, Everett. You must move on." Afterwards, Jana would be a bit surprised at the amount of steel and conviction in her voice as she said that.
