"I think it's best that we fell short of the estimated price to purchase her, to be honest. Because if a newcomer just swoops in and steals the greatest Slave in Valoc that's bound to raise some eyebrows. And if so, you're likely to be stopped and interrogated by Mariah, and potentially others. It's safer to come in and make a good impression, fight for the prize, but walk away empty handed.
