Gamble smiled bitterly and bent forward, back hunched as he looked down at his knees with a heavy sigh. "Yeah... Yeah I know what you mean... Head says one thing; the thing that you know is right... But your damned heart just can't let go." He laughed, a hollow sound as he shifted his weight back to look up at the ceiling, lapsing into silence for a while before speaking again.
"I... I'm not sure how I should... I don't know, advise you? Or even if I should. Heck, part of me thinks I shouldn't even be here chatting at all. The bit that tells me I'm an utter shit. But then-" Again he chuckled. "-I am that." He then shook his head; this was about Lan, not himself.
"I mean... I don't know if this will be helpful to say but I'll say it anyway: I like hanging out with you, for what that's worth. You're fun, you know? So... So how about we kind of... Start again and just... See what happens?" He smiled sideways at Lan.
