"Not so fast, Joshua," Ben said. "Let me completely clean out the wound first." He dug into the first aid kit and grabbed a pair of tweezers and dipped it into a bottle of isopropyl alcohol. He started whistling a song as he pulled out some strands of what looked like hair out of Joshua's hand. No wait...rope. Rope strands.
"Aha. Well, I don't need to say anything. Lesson learned for you." Ben wrapped a cloth around Joshua's cut and finally stood up. "Apply pressure on that," he said as he began to clean up the table. "You should be okay now."
After the table was back to normal, he began to head for the ladder, then turned back to Joshua. "And if we really are stuck here, I'd doubt a killer is what we need. It'd be less painful to just shoot ourselves than get drowned to death." He nodded, as if telling himself how stupid it was. "And we have enough food to last for months, and I think we could live off a few extra weeks eating birds." Ben laughed. "And why would someone want to kill us? We're just a bunch of kids on a boat trip. Right? Point is, don't worry."
And he climbed up the ladder and headed for the deck. Everyone had calmed down again. Thank God...
Sammy bounded up to him, whimpering. Ben gave him a pat, but he felt tired.
Now it all angered him. What the hell? Who the hell had the guts to wind up his friends like that?
Not really knowing what he was doing, Benjamin ran up to the rail and shouted out to the sky: "There is no killer!"
