Adelaide kept her smile, pleased that this new boy she'd met was so nice to someone so much younger. Most of the older kids just ignored her, so Wes was a friendly and pleasant surprise. She was almost sorry that the call for dinner interrupted them, but her growling stomach reminded her that she'd been eagerly awaiting that moment.

"I'm eleven, as of last month," she said, almost not wanting to admit it. While five years' age difference wasn't that much to an adult, she'd already learned that it was a gaping chasm to the teenagers on board. She bit her lip, but went ahead and offered anyway. "I'm all alone in room four, so far. You're welcome to room with me," she ducked her head, unable to meet his eyes, "though I won't hold it against you if you don't want to." She wouldn't, either. He'd been nice to her, and that was enough for Adelaide.
