Esme closed her eyes, tears of sadness streaming down her face as she recalled the girl she once was. Emily Fielding, the lonesome and book worm girl who was never seen without an acoustic guitar. The girl who obeyed her parents, no matter how cynical they were to her. Wiping the tears away, she sniffed and re-opened her eyes. “This is the new me, Esme Willowstraw” she told herself. “Esme Willowstraw” she repeated out loud, nodding her head with agreement.
Picking up the guitar beside the tree, she swung it over her shoulder and strolled across the river bank, taking the path towards the small village they resided in. Singing a melody to herself, she brushed back her red hair as it flowed over her shoulders like birds wings and attempted to concentrate more on herself, than others this time.
