Abigail pulls the two sides of the small black device in her hands apart as a mostly see-through, digital screen appears in between them. She places the device on a small stand on the table in front of her and props her chin in one hand while punching in a couple words on the screen, sliding unimportant screens to the side and finding the one she needs.

“We’re here, finally!” she says, throwing up her one arm into the air cheerfully. It’s not that she’s happy to be on the island – she is being forced to go after all – it’s just she’s happy to finally be able to get out of the air and off the plane. She closes the sides together and sticks the now six inch by two inch black device into the pocket of her form fitting, designer black jeans she was given by her agent – along with just about all the other designer clothes in her suitcases - before leaving. She adjusts her strapless, dark blue corset top and touches gently at her neck to make sure the gold coin necklace was still there. It’s a simple necklace, just a round gold coin with the letter “A” engraved onto it along with many decorative vines hanging on a black cord.

“Please restore all seat-backs to the upright position, store tray tables and any over head luggage away at this time as we prepare for landing,” the pilot’s voice comes on over the speakers. Abigail rolls her eyes and leans on the table again, putting both her hands under her chin. She watches out the window as the plane lands on the helicopter pad on the edge of the island, still marveling a little at the fact that her family owns one of only a few planes that are able to take off and land like helicopters.

“Welcome to your new home for the next three months sis,” the pilot says as the plane touches down and the doors open. “Have fun, video call me often, and don’t forget I love you. See you in three months Abbie.” ’If you love me then why are you leaving me?’ Abigail thinks bitterly as she gets off the plane, running a hand through her thick and somewhat wavy blue black hair.

“Here you go Abigail,” her other brother says, handing her two of the suitcases.

“Thanks Aiden,” she mumbles.

“I’ll carry these other two for you. I don’t know why you need all this stuff,” he says, walking up the path towards the huge building in front of them.

“Why don’t you ask Mom when you get home? And my agent for that matter. It’s like she gave me all the clothes I was supposed to wear in my next oh I don’t know… Six shoot! I don’t even think I’m gonna wear half this stuff. Just my usual corseted tops and skinny jeans. I’m really hoping they at least put my long dress in there,” Abigail says as they reach the top of the path. A guard approaches them and Aiden pulls out the invitation, showing it to the guard who tells them where the rooms are and that everyone’s already at dinner.

“I’m pretty sure they did sis. I think your biggest problem though is hoping mom didn’t pack a lot of frilly stuff for you to wear. Jeannie knows your style, so I’m sure she only packed the stuff you like.” The two of them enter the building and pick one of the still empty rooms on the girls’ side. They go in and put the suitcases on the bed the sit down on the edge together. Aiden puts an arm around his younger sister’s shoulders and pulls her closer to him. “C’mon sis. Don’t be so down about all this. Maybe you’ll find someone you’ll actually like while you’re here.”

“Why can’t you and Alan just take me back home or take me somewhere else. Any place but here! Why are they so intent on me marrying anyway? Why not you or Alan?”

“Because Abbie, you know it’s tradition to pass down the business to the females of the family. And you’re the only daughter they had. So deal with it. Sis, you’re going to get a multi-billion dollar company once you they die. But you have to be married to get it. You know that. Now please, cheer up and at least try to enjoy the company of the others here please?”

“Fine… I’ll try. No guarantees though okay?”

“Okay. Love you little sis. See ya in three months when we come to pick you up!” And with that Aiden leaves the room to return to his brother on the plane. Abigail sighs and gets up, not bothering to unpack to her stuff until after dinner.

She leaves her new room and strides down the hall confidently with a try-and-mess-with-me air around her as her black flats make so sound at all. Something you should know about Abigail, not only is she tough, but she’s also five-foot ten-inches in flats with a naturally somewhat bustier than normal chest and a perfectly proportionate hour-glass figure making her ideal model material – which she is. It’s not something she’d do on her own accord – modeling I mean – but like most things she does that’s in anyway girly is by her mother’s powerful influence. I mean how are you going to say no to a woman worth billions of dollars and has total control over your future?

So she strides purposefully down the hall towards what she assumes is the dining room considering theirs chatter coming out of it. Even for someone who’s used to elegance and exquisite things, Abigail’s breath is taken away momentarily as she steps into the ultra-modern dining room that already has people in it. She glances around briefly then sits down at a table by herself at the side of the room, not really wanting to socialize at this exact moment. She pulls the device in her pocket out again and pulls it apart. The words SCREENER PROTOTYPE flashes across the translucent screen but quickly disappears as several screens pop up. Abigail flicks her fingers across the screen gently and pulls up the same screen she had up before and bites her bottom lip lightly when the dot on the map continues to move farther out over the Pacific Ocean and back towards her home in California.

A single tear drop falls from Abigail’s right eye which she quickly brushes away, not wanting her sparkly, silver-black eyeliner or mascara to smear or start running down her face. Her teal blue eyes wander upwards from the digital screen in front of her to the wall opposite her for a couple of seconds as she wishes once again she was heading back home with her older brothers she loved so much instead of being stuck here on this island with people she doesn’t know and her future betrothed.

A ping sounding from the Screener draws Abigail’s attention down to the digital computer in her hands and she flicks through the several screens until she finds the one she wants. She smiles as a picture of her best friends Kaylee, Remara, and Zachary appears on the chosen screen with We miss you already!!! in big letters at the bottom of it. Abigail brings up a keyboard on the screen and messages them back a quick Miss you guys already too! I’ll video call y’all once I get settled in after dinner (which is now)! before bringing up another window with her favorite book on it. She props her elbows up on the table and rests her chin in one hand while holding up the Screener with the other one, picking up where she left off earlier in Maximum Ride by James Patterson.
