Her lungs burned for air, she screamed out in the choking warmth that encased her as ash and metal exploded outwards from where she had come to rest. Her blue eyes slid over the ashen chasm, the flakes sliding over the pass like the softest snow, yet leaving a stained dirty look instead of the crisp clean white of winter. She clutched her head as she sat up gasping and closed her eyes tightly. She couldn’t remember what happened, she couldn’t remember how she had gotten here, then it all came crashing back to her. The roar sounded and she issued the command to gather and protect, they formed up around her two of her men enchased in armor crouching above her as she sat on the ground gathering energy. Dragon.. it had been a dragon.. that is what her men said, she remembered extending a shield of black flame before them, to try and redirect the flames, to try and protect those that she was in charge of.

Her magic had held for a moment.. but only a moment before the flames rushed in and seared most of her men to ash. When it reached the bodies that pressed her to the ground and shielded her it slowly burned them away. She remembered the air leaving her lungs she remembered fighting against their weight trying to free herself from their suffocating grasp. Then she remembered releasing a wave of searing flame out and they fell to ash.. she had killed them.. they might have survived if she hadn’t of killed them. Her eyes went wide as she looked through her graceful black fingers at the ash around her. A tear slid down her cheek leaving a wet line against her ash drenched countenance. Her blue hair stained grey with the soft flakes, at her sides were bones and melted armor. She remembered the men she killed.. her guards that only tried to protect her.. she would bring them back.. her beautiful Dark Elves.. she would bring them back when she found the Gift.

She pushed herself to her feet and stumbled back falling into the soft ash and snarling. Her hand searched the ash for her staff, she knew she would have been dead if the staff had been consumed, it would have exploded with enough force to create a crater if the Dragon’s flames had touched it. She found the twisted gnarled staff and pulled it up using it to lean against. She stood her hair blowing in the soft breeze as her eyes scanned the monochromatic horizon, the sun was beginning to rise, yet it was still as hot as mid day. Anger touched her.. Dragons would try and take the gift.. they would try and become the gods. She would not allow that, she would not let that happen. She extended her will through the link trying to find other survivors, Miralight.. Belsius, and even Melianth had survived. Her eyes slid up the bluff to Sho as he pulled himself from the ash, her long hair coiled about her form as she locked eyes with him. No smile touched her lips at the sight of him, though joy did find her heart. A couple Dark Elves and the Lamian Prince had survived.. her mind still searching for others with her mark that had survived.. she hoped for more Dark Elves, but that was still very doubtful.. it was a blessing that as many had survived.. though this would change the course of the war… it was not only the Savage and the Civil, but the Dragons they would need to fight.

Dani stirred and gasped for air as she looked around, she was nude and in her normal form once again as she climbed from Sho’s coils. She started to dust herself off only to stop and look around in horror, she hadn’t seen what had done this, she only remembered being man handled by the Prince and then she couldn’t breathe, she had curled into his coils at the searing heat, but had been protected by the Rhino and his form. Her small frame watched as the ash fell, a horrible sadness filled her as she slid her arms over her breasts and looked around for something to cover herself with. She really hated when she left her cloths at the rear of the camp… normally she could focus enough to have the cloths stay hidden under her fur of the beast she shifted to, but she had not paid attention when she shifted out of the mammoth form and they now were undoubtedly burned with everything else.

”I’m going to go look for survivors.. if I find any civilized do you want me to capture them?” her eyes slid down noticing the couple forms moving in the ash, her brown eyes narrowing in contempt. She would happily go kill them all if he asked, she hated them, she would have been happy to never see one of the civilized races ever again. Her tail swished irritably in the ash as she snorted trying to clear the ash from her nose.

Miralight happily curled tightly against him, the pen tucked in her robe and the book clutched tightly to her chest. Ash slid over her small features as she nuzzled against the Dark Elf’s chest a gentle smile over her lips. She slept soundly without worry.. something most people were unable to do since the wars started. Halflings were oddly resilient, they seemed to take death and hardship with a lightness that few could manage. Her odd heavy clothing made her feel heavier then he would think for her size. It didn’t look like she would wake without him rousting her. At least not any time soon.
