Dani fluttered her wings and crowed at the dark elf male she snapped her beak then after a moment the merchant grabbed her and blushed tucking her in his arms and stroking her head. She settled happily hiding her head under her wing after a couple gentle strokes, something that always made the human happy. At the elf's comment about her eating part of his goods her feathers bristled and she slid her head out crowing shrilly at him as he turned and left. Talik was taking an awful long time at the market today, though she didn’t think too much of it and happily was lulled to sleep in the merchants arms as he walked back and forth selling fresh meats, pickled meats, smoked meats, salted meats. Any way a meat could be preserved and kept the small human sold it, he sold bulk amounts, he didn’t cut any of it himself, instead he sold hollowed out whole beasts, or large vats of pickled beasts.

She dozed off then before long the human who called himself Gus had to set her down to help a costumer load a large hog onto his wagon. She ruffled her feathers unhappily and then hopped over and picked at some meat scraps he had set aside for her. Before long there was a large ruckus that caused even her golden eyes to focus in on the scene. She quickly went back to picking at the meat when the Orc priestess approached where she sat. Her question caused Dani to turn her head back looking at the woman, then she extended her finger and Dani looked at it hesitantly. Talik often came to see this woman’s predictions, she never went with him, but sometimes she would fly over the gathering and observe the ritual. Still though the priestess was respected enough that Dani didn’t want to offend her by biting her. Instead she hopped onto the finger and crowed ruffling her feathers and then turning and preening herself in a relaxed fashion.

Gus’s eyes must have been as big as tea plates as he looked at the nude Orc. His jaw dropped then he cleared his throat and looked away blushing furiously, ”Thank you.. but she isn’t mine.. she belongs to an orc hunter by the name of Talik.. I borrow her when he is away gathering supplies and gambling… she normally sits on those worgs over there and I lure her over with meat.” His hand slid up pointing towards the two large black dog like beasts who were curled up on the opposite wall from the meat market. The beasts panted lightly in the shade their muzzles drenched with blood and the female one’s back was also drenched in the blood of the meat she had carried earlier in the day. Dani could feel the magic coil off the woman’s form, it was unlike her own magic.. it had an odd almost warm feeling to it, though it still made her uncomfortable as she ruffled her black feathers and looked into the woman’s eyes before crowing boldly and flapping her wings. There was a definite stiffness to her left wing and the shoulder was hot with inflammation and injury from the tussle earlier in the day.

She remembered this woman.. the closer she looked at her the more she realized she knew her. After the battle when Sho had gathered survivors she had been there, when he and General Fong worked together to set up Gia she had been there. Each time something profound happened this woman seemed to be there, she remembered the woman from the war camps before the Day of Ash as well. Her golden eyes continued to regard the woman as her head twitched this way and that in a normal raven like fashion. She remembered when she had left the city the same day as Sho had, she had traveled with the Lamian part of the way to his city before she left him with the guarded escort that would take him home.

Dani had spent the rest of her time wondering through the plains until she found Talik, she had saved him from a dire lion, and in return he had swore to protect her. No one would have believed that Talik was actually the servant of the raven that he always traveled with. Such a large powerful orc shouldn't have been indebted to anyone, yet he was, though Dani thought of him as more of a friend then a servant anyway. Besides.. she was lonely all alone in the plains, she had guarded the Lamian Prince for too long to be comfortable on her own again, and the orc gave her an excuse to have a traveling companion. Dani could not stay in cities for long though.. she couldn't watch as nature was devastated by the common man, it pained her to see such horrible destruction.. such horrible civilized deformity of the land. She often cursed Sho for this city.. she had almost hoped after the day of Ash that the world would return to the way it was meant to.. wild, free of walls, free of buildings, free or roads.. just grass and tree, river and ocean, none of the monstrosities that poisoned the rivers and leveled the forests.
