You may see me, but I am not there. You may not see me, but I am there. But I will always be with you, in the spirit.

a character in “24 Elements”, originally authored by Haas33, as played by RolePlayGateway

Description

Image
Name: Wisp

Age: She has walked this world 333 years

gender: female

Element: Spirit wolf

element powers: She can't be killed, because she is already dead. Her body is a mist, so things can go right through her. She can fly but she prefers just floating about in a disfigured mist. She can be seen when she wants to. She can't talk, or at least her words are inaudible. They come out as a sing song erie voice thats sounds like more of a song than words. Only The wolf of sound can hear the words she actually says. She can communicate through the spirit (But she does this rarely). She enters a wolf's spirit and can talk to them inside of them. But she does this rarely and is a great honor if this is done to a wolf

Appearance: See picture. She has blue eyes, bangs and misty white fur with wings

fear: She fears death: people dying. In that way, she doesn't like to kill, she would rather protect. She does kill evil though

weakness: She is very hard to communicate with, and very shy, and lonely. Pus her body is a mist. In other words she really isn't there. Almost as if she isn't real. She can interact and hurt people though

personality: She is shy and protective. Humble and caring, she roams the world looking for people to aid. She is sensitive, fair, and understanding. She is also lonely and wants to love. She is optimistic and nice. She has no enemies, all wolves look up to her respectively. She is not all-powerful though, and she can't just knock trees over and stuff or play god. Like any other wolf, it takes effort to kill someone.

history: Wisp doesn't remember her life before being a spirit wolf, but now she just searches to help people

So begins...

Wisp stretched her wings and glided down to Earth, a trail of mist flowing behind her. Her paws landed softly on cold, hard-packed snow. It was cold here, but could didn't really affect her. She gracefully tucked her wings in and shook her fur. She quietly crept forward. The snow swirled around her, and it became colder. She stepped onto ice and her paws gently scraped the surface. She dissolved into a mist and floated forward, noticing the decrease in temperature. She stepped out from behind a pile of snow to find a wolf. Must be an ice wolf. She formed into a wolf and stepped forward."Hello, ice wolf. I am wisp," is what she meant to say, but like always, her voice came out in a sort of a song, of ah's and oh's, like a disfigured howl or a song that was taken in the breeze. The wolf turned around and she nodded her head to the ice wolf.

Wisp really didn't know how to answer. Sure it was a little chilly, but how could she freeze to death? Well one she was already dead...maybe she just did not feel cold or heat. "I am a spirit wolf. I am already dead. Nothing affects me." The howling sing song voice contorted her words, and she felt bad that she couldn't really communicate. She also felt bad that this wolf could freeze people if they got to close. He must be lonely. Like her. She stepped closer and stretched out her wings. She tucked them back in and turned into a mist and reappearing closer. She felt her paws and fur, and still all she felt was a cold chill.

Kilo couldn't understand what Wisp was saying, and th eonly word he managed to get was spirit. "A ghost?" He thought as he noticed that the mist was getting closer to him, but h didn't feel any wrong intention coming from it, so he let it be. He also felt another presence near them, the blizzard could always tell him what was near him. He dicided to ignore it, so hopefully it would get cold and leave. "Why have you come to me? You are the only thing i came communicate with, and i can't even understand you. It's just not fair." He said as he layed down in the snow, making the blizzard soften up.

Wisp looked around. There were three wolves. One, if gotten any closer, would most likely freeze to death. The other could kill the wolf of ice. She felt bad for Koli. But she needed to warn the wolf who appeared to be of electricity. "Stop!" she said to the wolf, but it probably wouldn't help, her words an inaudible song. She looked into Kilo's eyes and dissolved into mist. She floated toward Koli and disappeared into his chest. The mist filled up Koli and entered his soul. She didn't like doing this do often, but he deserved to know answers. Her strange song voice disappeared and instead the words echoed in Koli's mind. "I am wipe, a spirit wolf. Nothing much affects me. I understand you. Sometimes I feel lonely myself. I am can not communicate. I am also not necessarily a tangible surface. I feel bad that everyone who comes near you freezes to death." The words echoed and faded into the singsong voice after she was done speaking. The mist drifted back out and she formed into a wolf again. She walked in front of the wolf of electricity and opened her wings, flapping them. "Stay back. You will freeze to death." She said, but her voice came out, again, in a sing song inaudible howl.

Thunder was running around when he tripped over a wolf. There was another wolf only slightly there with wings flapping frantically. He regained his posture again and looked around. Then with a yip of joy he let out a howl. "I am also a wolf of the great mother nature." He howled out. He had been looking for the others for a while. He looked around confused now. Why had they been brought to this icy world when one would melt it all and the rest would freeze. He was considering changing the temperature to a more suitable temperature for them all but was afraid he would hurt the ice wolf. He just raised it slightly more where him and the other two wolves stood. Then he looked back at a wolf engulfed in flames and figured she had it handled.

Scarny rolled her eyes at the frantic mess. She gave in and diffused her flames but her step was still hot enough to melt the snow and ice she looked at the others wolf the one with wings. "Why are you so frantic? I am sure there has been worse than this." She disregarded the once side that was cooler than the other side. She looked at the two other wolves that just fell over each other. Then she noticed the temperature getting slightly hotter over there. "I can heat this place faster than that." She teased knowing if she went full flare she would need to be angry and plus it would kill the ice wolf and probably the other two solid wolves. very few can handle black fire.

Koli was stunned that the wold Wisp had entered his soul and talked to him. "Stay, talk some more!" He yelled out, trying to locate the spirit. Thats when he noticed that a lot of creatures were around him, at least three others. "How did I not notice them before." He thought as he pondered his options. He could try to get close, but that always killed, or he could increase the storm, which would drive them away. Stuck between a rock and a hard place, he noticed that one of the wolves was of fire, and that scared him to death. He felt his blood run cold, which never happened before, and the storm suddenly grew much larger, trying to defend himself against fire out of instinct, although he didn't really want to hurt anything else, but he was stuck out of fear, and couldn't move.

Another wolf had showed up. She wasn't used to so many wolves around, and it made her uneasy. She didn't want to enter the souls of every wolf here to communicate with them. She stepped back and put her head down, disintegrating into a fine mist, becoming invisible. SHe was still there though, just unseen to the wolves. She would only intervene of this turned into a fight. She flapped her wings open and laid down in the snow, wrapping her wings around her, peaceful.

Wisp picked her head up. She looked to Koli. The blizzard around them was crazy and he needed help. She didn't want to enter his soul. She never liked entering people's souls, she never really knew quite why, but she didn't like it. She appeared and stepped to Koli, stopping right in front of him. "Calm down. Calm." She said. She frowned. Talking wasn't going to work, he would never understand her. Maybe she could calm him by singing. "Calm, calm the soul and the mind. Calm, calm until your heart beats in time. Close your eyes and imagine the world in a better place. Let your emotions send free to the air. Let your calmness take over. Calm, calm is in your body, let it seep into your soul" She sang. Since her voice was sing-song before, singing made it beautiful. The song came out loud, and erie, very calming. Most of the words wouldn't be understood, but every wolf was silent around her.

Moonsong prepared to curl up in his spot. He sent out a series of barks in every direction waiting for vibrations to return to his ears. The first few vibrations came quickly reminding him that the rock face he detected earlier was directly behind him. The next set came back choppy telling him off trees to his right. He raised his head in surprise as it took much longer for the third set to come back to his ears. When they finally did come back it told him of trees in that direction as he suspected but also something indecipherable. The only time a sound came back indecipherable was during a blizzard or if he didn't know the sound. He cross referenced it with all other sounds he had already heard but it remained a mystery. He sent out his hearing but he mystery noise acted as a wall preventing him from going any further. With a sigh he got up and stretched his legs knowing he would have to investigate. If it was a new sound it would do him no harm to register it for his database but if it was a blizzard he might as well dig his own grave. As he set off he sent a constant steam of barks in that direction keeping himself informed incase anything changed.

He didn't even realize it when he entered the blizzard. He was too intent studying he sounds he could hear from inside it. Before he knew he was sitting blind, exposed to the blizzards wrath. Yes he was blind before but the constant swirl of the snow made it impossible for his echolocation to get an accurate reading. He sat down in this unknown place completely helpless. His fur barely helped against this unnatural cold and he let out a low whine. Suddenly a voice cut through the noise like a knife through butter. "Calm, calm the soul and the mind. Calm, calm until your heart beats in time. Close your eyes and imagine the world in a better place. Let your emotions send free to the air. Let your calmness take over. Calm, calm is in your body, let it seep into your soul" it sang sending hope into Moonsong. He got up, suddenly oblivious to the cold, and walked towards the voice. It was more beautiful than anything he'd ever heard and he couldn't resist traveling towards it. He didn't want to interrupt the beautiful singing but he knew he should let her (at least he thought it was a her) know he was listening. Hello he said tentatively. Except for her voice he couldn't hear anything but his own voice over the blizzard.

Wisp was about to disintegrate into mist and sit down again, when a voice cut through the air. She turned to see another wolf coming closer. It's eyes were sort of closed, but not as if it were squinting through the blizzard. She studied the wolf. She finally decided that it was blind. She then realized why the wolf was blind. It was the wolf of sound. "Hello wolf of sound. I am sorry for the blizzard. It must disturb your hearing. I am the wolf of spirit, named Wisp." It felt so good to say something and be understood. "What might your name be?" she asked. She then remembered the blizzard. Koli must have calmed down a little, but it was still swarming around them. She stepped closer to the wolf of sound and touched her paw to his chest, gently. She knew he wouldn't feel that much pressure, especially since she really wasn't a substance, but she wanted him to know she was there. "I am here." She spread out her wings, trying to block some of the blizzard.

Wisp smiled, but then realized the wolf wouldn't be able to see it. "Moonsong" She sang out, instead. She looked over to the ice wolf to see the blizzard come down a bit, but it was still wiping around them. She looked around, and spotted a couple of trees. She leapt over to them and turned into a mist again. She went sort of inside the trunk of a tree. At first there was silence, but then crackling tumbled towards the wolves, and the small tree fell. She then continued on, breaking and shifting, placing trees in a way that made a make-shift shelter. It took a while, but it was easier for wisp. She didn't want Koli to feel left out so she shifted a small iceberg to make a nice place for him to sit. She nudged Moonsong with her muzzle. "Follow my voice." She said, leading him toward the shelter to protect the wolves from the blizzard. She started to sing softly, with no particular words or notes, just singing.

Moonsong looked up as he felt the blizzard die down slightly. He gave an experimental bark to see if his echolocation was back to normal letting his hopes rise. The bark came back clearer than before but he could only read clearly up to a few yards ahead. He cocked his head in confusion as wisp did not show as clearly as normal wolves. He thought it could be because of the blizzard but he could detect another wolf and she was much clearer. He could tell it was a girl because he could catch a glimpse of a conversation she was having with another wolf. How many wolves are in this place he wondered recalling the few he could detect with his limited range. 4 he answered himself knowing there were probably many more beyond his senses.
He felt the spirit wolf nudge his muzzle and turned in her direction. He shivered a bit more from the weird sensation accompanying Wisp's touch than the cold. "Follow my voice." She said her voice easily overpowering the wind from the blizzard. She started to sing and he could hear her voice start to edge away indicating she was walking away. He started to follow her listening as her song cut through the blizzard just as easily as before but he soon stopped. Being led by her voice like this reminded him of his pack feeling he needed special assistance because he was blind. He sat down and let out a loud howl fighting the blizzard every moment. He had a rather nice howl but it wasn't something he did often because it hurt his hearing. He kept up the howl until he could gather everything he thought there was to know in this blizzard. When he finished he got up and padded to the hut where Wisp seemed to be leading him smiling all the way.
Sitting down in the hut he collected everything he had heard. There were in fact 7 wolves here and not 4 as he had previously thought. This was the only thing important in the blizzard as he couldn't hear any of their individual conversations over his howl. He lied down and contented himself to scouring the forest behind him taking pleasure in the meaningless sounds he could now hear. He hoped Wisp didn't mention his howl as it was quite rude of him to reject her help as he did.

Wisp narrowed her eyes at Moonsong's rejection of her help. But she understood it. Most people were independent, and was humiliated by help. It made sense. What confused her was whenever he got up and started walking away. Curiously, she followed after, a little behind. The blizzard drifting away, and grassy woods came up, a nice little area. Faintly, she heard her name, and so she bounded forward, in time to see another wolf and Moonsong tripping over a rock. "Moonsong. What happened. Who is this wolf?" she asked, her sing-song voice distorting her words into inaudible speech to the wolf, but not to Moonsong. She stepped forward, closer, and the world fell down around her. She tumbled to the ground, landing hard on soft dirt. She looked up to find herself in a ditch. This must be what had happened. Either Moonsong or the other wolf fell in, and the other came to help. She stretched out her silvery wings, but this ditch wasn't very wide. Instead, she tucked them back in, and transformed half way into a mist. She leaped up, and kicked her feet off the side of the ditch. She kicked off the opposite wall, and kicked off one more time, leaping out from the ditch and onto grass. She shook her fur a little and blinked. She heard the wolf say 24 elements, and her ears perked up. She heard about them, and she has a brief concept about it. How would a simple wolf know about the 24 elements?

Kida was relieved the wolf had finally stopped walking and she was able to turn and look at him. He stared straight at her, making her a little surprised. She'd caught his 'What if I am?' and knew right away that her suspicions of him being blind were true. Yet, he was able to look at her as if he could actually see her. She didn't sit, since she knew she'd just look shorter than him if she did, despite that he couldn't actually see her. She also felt another presence though, though she couldn't see anyone. The life energy around them felt slightly distorted, as if there was another being somewhere near by.

"What do you know of them?"

She moved her eyes around suspiciously for a moment, then set them back on the wolf in front of her. "They were created by Mother Nature her self, god of this world. Each of them given a task to protect their own domain and contribute to this world. In exchange they could live here peacefully, though they are all unaware that they aren't the only ones. It's a little sad really, but the thought of being alone isn't so bad.." She hesitated a moment, wondering if all of what she was saying sounded strange to this wolf. "Electricity, ice, fire, earth, poison, air, wisdom, blood, fear, water, light, darkness, emotion, time, death, weather, mind, life, gold, health, gravity, sound, and spirit." She named off each and every one perfectly as if she'd been doing it over and over again for years. "You sounded like you knew what I was talking about, asking me what I knew of them...You're sound, aren't you? Not just because you are blind, but you looked like you were making noises to scan the landscape in front of you. I haven't met another wolf like you before, but the life energy emitting from you, it's not of a normal wolf."

It seemed that even when he walked away this wolf would assault him with questions. It was all he could do to keep walking surely as every word she spoke interrupted the sounds as they returned to him. He felt himself stumble and knew he couldn't keep walking on like this. With a sigh he started to bring his paws down harder so he could read the sounds they made instead of growling. Now he could talk as he walked even though he hated doing this. It made his map much less clear and he was blind to anything not touching the ground which usually helped him avoid running into things like branches. Almost as a testimony to his previous statement he flinched as a branch hit his ear. As well as the branch hitting his ear Kida kept sending more questions his way.
"Does this wolf ever shut up?" he muttered to himself under his breath not minding if Kida heard him. One of the best things about traveling alone was that it was silent whenever he wanted it to be. When he was in the pack he had been assaulted by the many sounds of pack 24/7 every time he let his guard down. Being with Kida was like someone was constantly howling in his ear. He hoped that she didn't talk like this often and consoled himself that she would probably stop this as soon as he stopped being interesting. Or as soon as he stopped being the wolf of sound but that wasn't going to happen. "Will you shut up," he said turning to Kida's generally direction beside him. " I can only answer one question at a time." Though he could not see his face he knew that all the anger he had gained since meeting her was portrayed. With a sigh he let his anger slip away. It wasn't fair of him to get on her for being curious he thought sightless eyes showing a small amount of sympathy. "From the beginning. No I'm not curious, more wolves are just more sounds to me. I've met only one the wolf of spirit and i don't know why she would gather us together. Mother nature works in mysterious ways," he said answering every question he had bothered to hear her ask. "and it doesn't matter if i'm curious. The question is why are you?" He didn't bother waiting for her answer and as soon as he was done continued on his way. She would probably follow him all the way back to the hut. Good he thought then she could get answers from Wisp instead of me.

Kida didn't show any reaction as Moonsong snapped at her to shut up. She just continued looking at him with amusement sparking in her eyes. Why was she so thrilled? She'd simply broken through one of the layers of his self control. It was almost too easy. She stayed quiet, listening to his answers before he continued on. She works in mysterious ways, huh? She thought to herself, waiting a moment before following him again. This time she stayed a couple of tail-lengths behind him with her jaws shut. There was no more need for her to keep talking until he stopped trying to focus on two things at once. He said he'd met just one other, the wolf of spirit. A sad wolf story indeed..one who can barely be heard and is cursed to be alone, just like the others. But they've met, so something is definitely happening. She remembered the feeling she'd felt earlier when she first encountered this wolf, as if some other being was close to them, but the image wasn't clear. That must've been her..

Then she recalled Moonsong asking why she herself was curious. She wasn't actually sure if she was curious or not, but she just wanted answers. That was practically what she lived for, to gain information and put it together to form a perfect explanation. Maybe at first Kida could come off a little cocky and rather stubborn, but she was most definitely more intelligent than she acted. Perhaps she was talking so much right now just because she finally had a reason to. She could barely remember the last time she actually used her voice other than to scare off any unwanted visitors. She couldn't even remember the last time she'd actually howled. Yeah right, that would never be the reason..

Wisp stretched her wings out and started to sing. She didn't sing often, or at least not until recently, whenever she discovered she liked singing. Especially with her voice. It sounded beautiful. She flapped her wings up and down and looked around. She noticed Moonsong walking her way with another wolf. She ran through the list of wolves in her head, finally deciding on the wolf of wisdom, as the new wolf who approached. She cocked her head and trotted over to them. "Wolf of wisdom I presume?" she asked the wolf, but also aiming it at Moonsong, to see if he knew. She folded her wings to her back and hummed to herself, smiling.

Kida's ears pricked up and she stopped in her tracks as she heard something, almost like howling but with more of a calming ring to it. Singing? Suddenly she turned her head to see another wolf coming towards them with much comfort, as if she was completely trustful of Moonsong. The wolf folded its wings back with a gentle smile which Kida wasn't used to.

"Wolf of wisdom I presume?"

She relaxed a little, her eyes narrowing slightly. She quietly sat down and relaxed her shoulders as she gazed upon the wolf. How did this wolf know who she was? "And you would be the Spirit wolf. So then I'm not the only one who knew that there were others. You seem pretty trustworthy. How do you know I'm not going to attack you? Maybe I was just letting this blind wolf lead me back to his home to kill him..You should have really keep a better guard up. But I guess I can't really kill you since you're already dead, can I? Of course it would still be easy to kill the blind one. I wonder what it sounds like to have your own flesh ripped open but you can't see it happening. I bet it's terrifying.." She was lying of course. There was no way she'd waist her time killing a wolf who couldn't even fight back. Not to mention she would gain nothing in return and she always hated trying to get blood out of her fur. She smirked at herself. "Sorry, I'm just rambling. Anyway, how is it that you have the knowledge of the other wolves?" She asked, wondering if there would be any reaction from Moonsong.

Wisp laughed a musical laugh, it echoing off the rocks and trees. She silently whispered to Moonsong a thank you for translating and continued. "No, I don't think you could kill me." She said, her voice jumping into sing-song once again. She then cocked her head and narrowed her eyes. "And I do not think you intend to harm Moonsong, or any of us for that matter. I could stop you though anyway." She tilted her head to the side. Not physically of course. No, she couldn't sink her teeth into flesh. It would do nothing, feel like nothing, other than a gentle feather. However, that nice looking tree beside them was dyeing to be smashed down upon a wolf. Rocks were always a good one for her, too. She would howl and they all would rise at once, and then she could send them hurtling toward her victim. That took a lot of energy though, so she didn't do it often. "And the reason why I know of you and the 24 elements, is because, I watched mother nature as she crafted them. She had tried to make me first, a wolf of life, but instead, tragedy happened, and I instead, turned into a wolf of spirit. I don't know how old I really am, as sometimes we count years differently, some go by shorter years, so their life appears to be long, thousands of years old. I asked mother nature once, how old I was. She said 3,333 years old. But that was thousands of years ago, and I don't know if that is a wolf year, or an actual year. I just go by that age though, because I don't know my real age. The reason other wolves don't know of the 24 elements is because Mother nature thought it would cause a disturbance in the balance of life, causing wars, or enemies, death. But I see now that the truth can't be hidden forever."

Moonsong turned his head to the sound of Wisp singing. By this point he had heard almost everything there is to hear but even so he could definitely say that Wisp's singing was his favorite. The natural sing-song tune of her voice combined to make her singing voice even more beautiful than birdsong. It always seemed to have a hypnotic effect on him and he had to shake himself to keep humming. He sat down so he could focus more intently on Wisp's singing when he heard her stop to ask a question to Kida. He didn't bother to hide a frown when Kida caught up from behind him and sat down.
"Wolf of wisdom I presume?" Wisp asked curiosity edging into her voice.
"Your the wolf of Wisdom?" Moonsong asked turning to her. He no longer bothered to hide his emotions from kida so his surprise was evident. Kida was just too observant and would figure out his emotions if she wanted anyway.
Putting two and two together Moonsong realized that it was probably true and that it explained many of the things since meeting her. No normal wolf would have been able to escape the ditch on their own and yet she had done it using a method still unknown to him. It also explained how she knew so much about the 24 elements. And it would be natural that the wolf of wisdom would be so good at drawing information. He knew that he would think of her differently from now on but she would still be that noisy, rude wolf he had first met. He tuned himself back into the conversation and to no surprise Kida was rambling again.
"How do you know I'm not going to attack you? Maybe I was just letting this blind wolf lead me back to his home to kill him..You should have really keep a better guard up. But I guess I can't really kill you since you're already dead, can I? Of course it would still be easy to kill the blind one. I wonder what it sounds like to have your own flesh ripped open but you can't see it happening. I bet it's terrifying." she rambled probably oblivious to what she was saying. "Sorry, I'm just rambling. Anyway, how is it that you have the knowledge of the other wolves?"
"Oh don't stop on my account. I was rather enjoying the description of my death." he said sarcastically his face going to it's usual apathetic stare. This was why he didn't tell people he was blind. In the eyes of other wolves blindness was quickly associated with weakness making people think that they could do whatever to him. Being blind didn't mean he wouldn't go down fighting or that he would at least put up a challenge. He hadn't survived on his own all this time begging and scavenging for food. His powers certainly played a large part of his adaptation though. For example he could hunt small prey by using sounds to scare it right into his jaws. With predators he could amplify his voice to seem much more threatening than he actually was or just deafen them as he walked away. Creatures of the forest around him had started to call him Moonsong because of his skill with sounds and the name stuck. He hadn't even had a name in his pack instead being referred to as "omega", "blind wolf" or most commonly "weakling".
Wisp's thank you brought him back from the depths of his mind. It was a silent whisper but it was more than enough to prick Moonsong's enhanced hearing.
"No, I don't think you could kill me." She said, her voice jumping into sing-song once again. She then cocked her head and narrowed her eyes. "And I do not think you intend to harm Moonsong, or any of us for that matter. I could stop you though anyway." she said and Moonsong dutifully translated. In the short time he'd known wisp he had become aware that other wolves didn't hear her as clearly as he did. He also gave her a silent thanks for sticking up for him in the place where Kida had insulted him.
But I see now that the truth can't be hidden forever." she finished Moonsong growing more hesitant in his translation towards the end. He was new to having to translate for another wolf and he didn't feel right repeating such personal things. He certainly would never do something like that but he knew it was something Kida wanted to know so he repeated it.
He turned his blind gaze on Kida and wondered how she was taking Wisp's explantion.
