Description
Image
Blythe stands at the small stature of only Five foot two, with a curvaceous, lithe build only lightly touched with muscle. Her skin has a darker pigmentation to it, to the point where she’s reasonably assumed as Ishbalan, and other than the two lacerated transmutation circles on her inner palm, is visibly flawless. Though often shut in either meditation or simple sleep, her eyes are an intriguing mix of startling crimson and light mocha brown, giving away only the most subtle hints of her heritage. Long, thin, and incredibly fine, her dark auburn hair hangs just a few inches beyond the crook of her back, rarely put up and often left the way it was upon her awakening that morning...or night, depending on whether she felt the need to bother with people or not that particular day.

More often than not, Blythe can be found in the classic uniform of the Amestris Military(which she swears up and down to be the most curve flattering uniform to exist) or whatever outfit she finds to look the most comfortable in her armoire on the off occasion she has no work to do that day.

Alchemical Speciality
Specializes in the more debilitating aspects of offensive alchemy, able to use the chemical properties of matter, regardless of whether it is an organic substance or not, to form toxins of varying potency, design, and effect. Her most common subject for transmutation tends to be the subtle change of the molecules within the atmosphere from Carbon Dioxide and normal Oxide to simple Carbon Monoxide with the intent of a peaceful death for her adversaries. Should the situation require it though, Blythe also has the means to alter the naturally occurring compounds within the human body to recreate paralysis agents, hallucinogens, toxins, and whatever else she can she think of within a reasonable parameter.

In addition to her specialization in toxins, Blythe has an acute knowledge of the natural compounds found in flora of almost every variety, leading her to be rather skilled in the art of botany and its application in alchemical study. Her current favorite flower, and one she often uses in her various testing, is the Fly Arcaia, a small lavender flower with properties capable of recreating the sensation of death in humans. Unlike her more devastating toxic alchemy though, Blythe’s knowledge of botany rarely proves useful in anything other than the pursuit of knowledge, much to her displeasure.

Equipment
A lone messenger bag she keeps draped over her shoulders at all times; within is at least one sample of every naturally occurring element capable of being distilled down to their purest forms(along with a few radioactive particles she really shouldn’t have been messing with), a mortar and pestle(for when a transmutation circle seems just the wee bit too time consuming), two sticks of standard white chalk, three slabs of charcoal, and a small sowing kit.

History
For the most part, Blythe’s early life was rather unremarkable. Her father was a skilled baker with a business of his own(which Blythe would spend many of her earlier days being forced to help run) and her mother a state alchemist of little rank and only marginal skill in the art. Their home was modest, little more than a comfortable cottage on the outskirts of a rural village, and Blythe rarely ventured from its safety other than to help her father at work. Her friends were scarce, only two or three children at most, and she lived a somewhat isolated life, finding companionship and intrigue in the pages of her mother’s old alchemy books. For over thirteen years she would stay in that country home, furthering her knowledge of alchemy, the arts, botany, and whatever other subject she could manage to find a decent book on.

Until her mother, desperate to present an actually decent experiment result for the military that year and avoid the looming threat of being booted from her position, did the one thing she had before adamantly refused in her bimolecular pursuit of knowledge. She experimented with a human life. Shortly before Blythe’s fourteenth year, the woman would work to alter the molecules within her own body to create a bimolecular weapon through by her own flesh. The pain she experienced in the act though, excruciating as it was, blinded her of how much substance it was she meant to create and, having overestimated her end yield, was left singed and charred from the alchemical rebound that would occur.

Though Blythe was heartbroken, she saw her mother’s death as little more than a sign of change and, figuring she somehow owed it to her mother, took up the title of “The Tainted Alchemist”. Well, technically only after a year of intense mental and physical preparation for the state alchemist entrance exam, taking(and passing) aforementioned test, and then eventually registering within the Official Amestris Military Roster, but details, details.

In the years since joining, Blythe has managed to climb her way to the esteemed(though still limited in power, much to her displeasure) seat of Brigadier General. Things have gotten boring as of late though and, figuring there isn’t much anything better to do, she’s began contemplating joining the deployed group of State Alchemists to investigate the recent disappearance.

So begins...
