"Perhaps I phrased that a bit too strongly," he continued. "'Executive functions' simply refers to participation in the execution of plans and other decisive strategies. In essence, we will be allowed a voice in your planning sessions regarding anything related to Kira. This is not to say that we are granted major executive powers, however—the final decision will of course rest in the hands of your Chief."

So they want to be involved with what we do? Figures, but asking for that means they should be willing to give something up. Well, I have tomorrow afternoon to speak more about this, I'm sure.

Instead of speaking, Hideyeki simply nodded and allowed the man to go on. However, he could only start before somebody else began speaking with a hidden voice. He wanted to smile, but instead didn't, and listened as C themself informed him that Europe was beginning to see that Kira wasn't a joke played on the media, but an actual threat. This was good, very good, though the fact that C themself told him this instead of just relaying it through the medium, Peter, raised some suspicions. How Peters began did so also. There must've been something they were leaving out, or so he thought.

Finishing her speech, C handed over the end of the conversation to Peter. Hideyeki smiled as he stood up, downing a water that had been placed next to him earlier. "It was a pleasure to meet you both." he said. "However, in regards to the 'excutive functions', I've got doubts that anything being planned will take any risks, and I'm afraid that the meeting shall be in person. You're welcome to send Peter, though, knowing my chief, you won't be able to communicate through the glasses, regardless of how safe you believe they are." he was now standing straight up, and he looked down on the sitting Peter. "In any case, I look forward to tomorrow's meeting, and I'll make sure these documents get to the chief."

He began to leave, only stopping as he remembered something. "Sayonara, watashi no tomodachi." With a wave, he left the cafe.

"You are fascinatingly strange," Kaegira said as she smiled back.

"Thank you very much." She said as she went to put the death note into her bag and turned around to face him.

"I would hope that you read the rules before writing a name in the death note," Kaegira said as she smiled and nodded at his explanations.

"I did, it just said you could control their actions. Wasn't sure if that included speech..." She said with a shrug and slung her bag over her shoulder.
"Homework bores me, I'm going on a walk." She said with a smile.
"Wanna come along?"

"Want? I am impartial to how you spend your time. I will, however, accompany you. You possess a death note, and in turn, I shall possess you." Kaegira said matter-of-factly. He'd hate for this girl to get the idea that he actually cared. What a dreadful existence he'd have if he went everywhere caring... He shook the thought from his mind quickly as she stepped out the door. She seemed to wait for him to pass through the doorway before closing it and locking it, while polite, it was unnecessary. He was not bound by walls as humans were on this earth. What would people around her think if she was staring into her empty house before finally shutting the door? Yes, he'd definitely picked a crazy one. She'd need to be more careful.

"My favorite place is that market up the street. Earth-grown food is so delicious," he was sure to tell Hanako his favorite thing about the Earth early in the game, humans who bared no ill-will towards someone usually enjoyed giving them what they like. At least, that's what he believed to be true about the humans. He hardly payed too much attention to know if he was right or wrong.

Along their walk around the town, they passed by several people, but the only details he cared to take in about these creatures were there names, after all, humans were the most unappealing creatures to the Shinigami, merely they were a life source for them and that is why they bared to acknowledge their existence. Fuji Saitou, Masako Itou, Kado Nakamura, Aito Suzuki... The list went on and on, but he remembered each name carefully.

They were all short, scrawny, and pale. They were in Japan, after all, so none of their other features had really struck him out of place.

Hanako hadn't seemed to know any of these people herself as she maintained steady eye-contact with the path in front of her, actually, Kaegira wasn't entirely sure that she was paying any attention at all. "Hanako? Are we going anywhere in particular?" He asked her loudly, though no one else around would be able to hear him unless they'd touched Hanako's death note. He expected her to slightly nod or shake her head as to not seem like she was talking to herself, but he's been wrong before. He would probably die of laughter if she actually spoke out loud to him.

"Thank you very much Kaegira." She said with a smile as she went to the door and opened it for him. Waiting until he passed through before closing and locking it. She thought about taking her motorcycle again but shook off the thought. She liked to walk. She quickly turned and started to head out.

"My favorite place is that market up the street. Earth-grown food is so delicious," Kaegira said and she smiled in response as she continued walking. She never liked all these crowds but she some how got relatively used to them.

"Hanako? Are we going anywhere in particular?" Kaegira asked and she smiled and nodded as if to herself in thought. She soon came up to the market he talked about and walked in. She quickly grabbed a basket and then found the produce section and put in two carton of strawberries.

"Hmm.... I wonder if he'd want anything..." She mumbled to herself as if in deep thought but hoping that Kaegira understood it as a question. She was truthfully asking him if he wanted anything while there.

The planned route that Hideyeki was going to take after leaving the cafe only involved dropping the documents for the chief off at the station and then heading home from there. Seemed like a good plan, not too much walking, and he had no problems with this. Of course, a text from Sakura soon changed his plans, as he was out of Strawberries.

Hideyeki stared at his phone, the four letters rocking the foundation of his very world.

"We're out of strawberries."

A low growl was emitted from the man, knowing full well that that meant Sakura invited her friends over to their house and ate them, instead of hanging out and eating there. Hideyeki loved strawberries, and this was unacceptable. So, no, they couldn't wait until later. He needed to know that he could devour some whenever he wished, and after briefly doing his first task of ridding himself of the documents meant for his chief, he planned on stopping at market just a bit before his home.

As he walked in, he ignored not only the greeter waving to him, but everyone else in his path to his precious. He drew nearer, and nearer until.......

What? They were gone? There were no more, and he saw the culprit, some girl had taken the last two cartons. That....bitch! Okay, he wasn't that mad, but he was still...depressed, which is why he sorta just stood there, looking at the place where the strawberries used to be, longing for them to be there. But he knew, deep inside, that he was too late, that he would not be receiving that which he held precious. Stealing strawberries from him should be a crime! he thought, though he wasn't so corrupted as to actually kill someone over such a petty matter. No, this power would only be used on the injust! This power would be reserved only for those who deserved to be judged by such a unique power. She didn't deserve to die.

So, as weird as it might seem, the uniformed officer simply sighed and watched the empty space. Guess it was a good time to cool down from the walking.

Hanako almost walked away until she noticed a man staring at where the strawberries were. Noticing she took the last two cartons, she felt a bit bad. Tapping the man on his shoulder, she handed one carton over.

"Here. I don't need both." She said with a smile as she waited for the officer to take it.... Wait.... an officer?... She quickly felt anger almost take her over but she kept it inside and hidden. She never liked cops since they took forever to save her and didn't even catch the culprits... But... He might be okay... He does seem to like strawberries... So he must be okay... Right?

"Here. I don't need both."

Hideyeki glanced towards the source of the voice which also happened to be offering a carton of strawberries to him. His eyes lit up more than they normally did when he smiled towards her, his feeling being close to some kid seeing their parent come home after being in the military. Words honestly couldn't describe how much this small act of kindness touched him; he almost cried. Yet, in the end, he kept his warm smile pointed at her, and took the carton. Not a second later did he bow to the young woman. "Thank you, ma'am. I cannot ever repay such a kindness." he spoke.

"Thank you, ma'am. I cannot ever repay such a kindness." The officer said with a bow. She smiled back at him and nodded.

"It's no problem. It seemed to me that you really liked strawberries, so..." She gave a shrug, deciding her sentence sounded a bit dumb so she gave up on finishing it. She then held out her hand.

"My name is Hanako." She said before she started regretting it. What if this cop heard of her case? He'd think of her differently as soon as he put her name and that 10 year old girl together. She never did have a normal life after that and now she was just opening herself up to more pain by saying her name.

"It's no problem. It seemed to me that you really liked strawberries, so..."

"I would lie if I said that like was the best word to describe my affection for these fruits." he replied with a smile, then listening as she introduced herself. He hadn't heard that name much before, but he always did find it a beautiful name. Because of the way she said it, he didn't realize that she had given him her first name and because he was an American at heart, he didn't catch this.

"Such a beautiful name, you know? 'Flower Girl'. Though maybe it doesn't fit. More like, 'Lifesaver', miss." he smiled. "I am Officer Hideyeki Yoshida." he replied warmly then added, "At your service." another bow took place.

"I really do love apples," Kaegira affirmed as Hanako began to talk to herself, "But anything, really, anything earth-grown is perfect." He grinned, and happily glided around the produce section, passing through a couple of humans who issued a soft shudder at his presence until he was facing the bin containing rows of different kinds of apples. He didn't mind strawberries, but they weren't his favorite by any means. There was no particular reasoning behind this, he just loved apples, if not simply for all of the different colors they were available in. Bananas were yellow, oranges were orange, cherries were red, but apples came in reds, greens, and yellows. This had fascinated him. This fruit was different, special. Truly, it was unlike the rest, and it pleased him so.

When Kaegira returned, Hanako was talking with a young man in a uniform. 'Dalton Ackerson' was splayed above his head in white, faded letters, only visible to the Shinigami, and never to be known to anyone else, but he did give the man a sideways look when he introduced himself as 'Officer Hideyeki Yoshida'. He glanced back at the name above his head, confirming that he hadn't read it wrong, then he just kept quiet. Humans kept secrets even when there was nothing to hide, it seemed.

At least he seemed polite. Kaegira didn't care how he reacted, but he figured that Hanako would be less likely to do anything to get herself into trouble if he were polite.

"Such a beautiful name, you know? 'Flower Girl'. Though maybe it doesn't fit. More like, 'Lifesaver', miss. I am Officer Hideyeki Yoshida. At your Service." He said as she blushed slightly. She never thought of her name that much. She knew she liked it when she was younger but it seemed like such a pointless thing to like.

"Nice to meet you Officer Yoshida." She said with a slight smile. He was nice, but she still couldn't shake her hate of police. She heard Kaegira talked about his love for apples in the background and she made a mental note to get some.

She was about to say something else when suddenly, it seemed her paranoia started to kick in. She held her basket with both hands and pinched one of them with the other while concealing it. It was no time to start freaking out. Yes, the market was full. Yes, she was scared of that many people. Would she freak out? Probably. Did she wanna freak out? No. Was she going to show this? No way in hell.

"Is something wrong?" Hideyeki picked up on the feeling of discomfort when the girl standing before him opened her mouth to say something, but never did. He could tell she wasn't feeling too right, maybe nervous or something along those lines. Did he say something wrong, or did she do something wrong, he wanders but because he isn't a mind reader, he couldn't really figure this out.

He glanced down at his watch and noticed he was behind on schedule. He'd have to eventually start dinner for Sakura and she could be... unpleasant when she's hungry. He had learned that firsthand, and confronting a grumpy teenage girl was not on his list of things to do today. So, once more he smiled and spoke lightly. "Thank you very much, Hanako-san. I cannot express my gratitude." he said graciously. "Good bye."

With those words, he turned off to leave for his home. After paying for the strawberries, of course.

Kado needed to get out, he'd been cooped up in his Apartment for the past three days trying to figure out this case, the Kira case. It was challenging to say the least but he wasn't one to complain. It wasn't annoying him it was actually making him more excited, if it wasn't challenging then it wouldn't of been worth his time. That was the only reason he took it on. He didn't take it on because he had something against Kira or disliked the fact that he was killing criminals, it was all about the difficulty the case had. The fact that no evidence was left after each murder, not even a trace of anyone being there. The Tokyo police force were confident that the killer had to have been there but that was because they were all simple-minded & didn't believe in supernatural phenomena, Kado was in the same position when he started this case, but the fact that if someone had been there he would of surely been able to of find some evidence of it made him come to the conclusion that supernatural phenomena was a possibility.

Yawning slightly the young adult picked up his keys & put his messenger back over his shoulder. Opening & then closing the door to his apartment once he had exited it. Locking the door & making sure by trying to open it a couple of times he put his keys into his pockets & walked down the stairs. The real reason he was leaving his apartment was actually to go to the bar opposite the Police departments building, Why? because even though he could hack into the sever from his apartment it was much easier to connect by hacking into their internet connection & connect like that, making their server think that it was one of the PC's/Laptops from within the building that & the fact that there were several checks done every couple of minutes to see if anyone was connection from outside, atleast by doing it this way he wouldn't be found out by the computers automatic search but rather by the manual search that one of the tech people done every half hour.

Getting to the Bar he walked in, ordering it a drink before going to sit down, opening his messenger back he took out his laptop, plugging the charger into the wall & the other end into the laptop he started it up. Once it had started up it wasn't too long before he was into their system. He done this every week or so to quickly check whether the police had got any new information or whether someone else was helping them, the last thing he wanted was someone to beat him to the case. Scrolling through most of the evidence for most of the half hour it wasn't long until he came up on an article of a murder that fascinated him. Though what he didn't realize was that the half hour had passed, the Tech guy would of obviously done another manual search & figured that he wasn't actually part of the computers or laptops connected in the building, but was connecting from the server from the outside, it wouldn't be too long before they knew where he was & would send out a couple of officers to catch him, but been too interested in the article he still hadn't realized the half hour had passed, a foolish mistake for one of the best detectives out there, an amateur mistake.

Hideyeki sat in his police station, taking a few sips of some coffee he really, really needed. Originally, he thought he would be leaving just a bit before the designated meeting between he and C to pick of the previously dropped off papers, but apparently, someone called in sick and, since he was already coming later, they decided to use him as a replacement. So, today he was working even though it was his off-day. He disliked this very much, but he was promised next weekend off. Somehow, he felt like he was going to be meeting with someone then, too. Just a hunch.

It was while he was enjoying his coffee that his presence was requested in the form of Tsuguro, who ditched this job onto Kira. If only he knew. Well, actually that would be bad. Very bad. Hideyeki looked up as his fellow officer approached him.

"Yoshida-san. Our techs caught some asshole trying to worm his way into the system." he informed dully. "You're going to go get him. Alone."

Hideyeki frowned. "Alone?"

"Yeah. Alone, as in no partner, just yourself. You can handle that, right?"

"I can. As long as he's only a hacker." Hideyeki agreed.

"Should be to make a mistake like he did. Techs said they traced him to Tsubuki's."

"The bar? The one I can see from out the window?" he reaised his eyebrow in disbelief.

"Yup. Unless you're really lazy, I suggest you simply walk over there and not waste the gas." Tsuguro turned to leave, obviously becoming less and less interested wtih the conversation now that everything important was relayed.

Hideyeki stood up, eying his unfinished coffee. When he was sure that Tsuguro had left, he frowned again. "I'll be back." he assured the half-empty mug before heading out the door reluctantly to the bar. Of course they would stick him with the job, he thought. It always seemed like Tsuguro was dumping his work off on Hideyeki, probably because he was jealous. Tsuguro had been working two years longer than Hideyeki, but Hideyeki was the one who had the better chances of being promoted to a detective at this rate. Ironically, in dumping all the work on him, it would just make him look better. What a fool he was. But, that wasn't the issure here. What was was that Hideyeki wasn't sure how he was going to find this law-breaker. He wasn't given anything else rather than 'He was at the bar'. Lots of people are at the bar. Maybe a bit more elaboration would have helped, but nope! Tsuguro just wanted to make it hard on him.

This might be a tad bit difficult.

At least, that was what he was thinking until after he pushed open the doors and looked around. He saw people. Lots of people. However, he saw lots of people sitting down, conversating, eating and whatnot, yet he saw only one person on a computer. He breathed a sigh of relief, shoving those thoughts he had about this being hard. So, he walked up to the younger-looking man and took a seat at his table, right in front of him. The boy didn't look too physically fit, and Hideyeki always had that habit of scanning people with his eyes as soon as he saw them -one that saved his life before, mind you- not noticing a firearm on him. Being in good shape, Hideyeki wasn't too doubtful that he'd catch this kid if he suddenly ran.

"I'm afraid you'll have to come with me, boy."

Hanako woke up startled and got slightly tangled in her sleep. After a couple of seconds of confusion, she calmed down. Last night's trip to the super market got her a bit out of sorts. She never liked being out alone in a crowd of people. Yes, she had Kaegira, but she wasn't allowed to talk to him so it didn't really help.

Getting out of her bed, she readjusted her night gown and walked to the fridge. She opened it up and grabbed out some strawberries, cream cheese, margarine, flour, eggs, and some apples.

"Kaegira! Want some apples?" She questioned, wondering if he was awake or not. She let them lay on the table as she made her favorite breakfast. vanilla crepes, cream cheese inside, and sugary strawberries to top it all off? This was the only heaven she needed. She started to mix and fry as she waited for Kaegira to respond.

Scanning the PC for a little longer he took the sip of his drink before turning back to it. He was that into it he didn't even notice anything when the officer sat down infront of him. Though upon hearing his words he raised his head somewhat surprised though it didn't take him too long to realize why. Looking back at his watch he mumbled slightly as he realized that he had long gone past the half hour window he had. Though he didn't plan on running, it'd be pointless nor was he going to go to prison. He had contacts & money, all he needed to get off with a warning & probably been monitored to make sure he didn't do it again. Which didn't mean anything to him he had other ways to acquire data on Kira, this was just to find out if the Police had found anything new on him. Though they hadn't, or atleast nothing relevant enough for him to remember. Clasping his hands together he looked towards the cop.

"Ehe...looks like I forgot about the 30 minute window I had..This whole Kira case is just so interesting..."

He let out a faint chuckle before closing his eyes momentarily. Opening them once more he turned the laptop towards the officer revealing what files he was searching, the Kira files. Though this was the start of what he had planned, well not really planned but he did like talking down the police trying to make them seem not as smart as him. Which he only did towards the police, he disliked doing it to anyone else considering chances were they would belittle him in the future. Taking a few moments to let the officer scan over what was on the laptop he decided to speak once he was satisfied the police officer got enough time to scan it himself.

"You know, you guys are so simple minded, you believe only in what has been proven or is relatively possible in your realms. To the point where you obviously haven't even thought about Kira having supernatural powers..I mean, killing people without having to be there? There isn't any other explanation other then a supernatural power, like a Voodoo Doll maybe..I don't know. I suppose it could be a substance that doesn't harm someone for a matter of hours or even days, but I would imagine forensics would pick that up, unless they could of possibly missed it, but I doubt that anyway, even I can't think of a substance that could possibly do something like that & cause a heart-attack.."

A smirk appeared on Kados lips, yet the last thing he knew was the fact that he was talking to the one named as Kira.

When Hideyeki was noticed, he was glad that the young man didn't just suddenly burst out into a sprint. Good. He didn't really want to chase down anybody right now and ruin his suit. He had a date, more or less. Instead, the man showed him his laptop which had files on the Kira case. This guy was interested in such a thing? Actually, from that alone Hideyeki had a mere guess as to who this person could be, but he had no evidence besides the fact he was good with computers, and wasn't going to push it....just yet. Not like it mattered because this kid relied on digital information. The conversation between Kira and C was never recorded, at least not by him, though C probably did so.

Really it was just a brief glance because Hideyeki already recognized the names of the files and folders, having spent time writing a few of them. They could take thier leisurely time before heading back to the station where both of them would basically sit, bored, so Kira didn't mind listening to these bizarre accusations that Kira had to be in possesion of supernatural powers. They were true. A small smile played on Hideyeki's lips as the man finished.

"So you just assume based on what you see in the computers, right?" he asked rhetorically. "Police are humans as well. We're capable of independant thought. While some of us may think like what you said we do, others don't. Do you really believe everything we do or know gets put into a computer? No, of course not." he sighed, shaking his head a little. "While I would agree with you if you said our database wasn't as protected as it could be, I'm sure you know that only people with a great skill in computers would be able to access it." he led on, making sure his gaze was in the boy's eyes.

"That being said, I must say that I can't help but make a connection between you and this vigilante we know of. I mean, he's been a help, and all, especially with bigger cases. But we don't know who he is really. All we can tell about him is that he's good with computers and uses the knowledge from our database, illegally, to help solve the cases. No, I don't believe that any of the other known hackers with that skill would waste their time looking at criminal records and whatnot when they can be earning money by using their skills in other ways." he smiled innocently. "But as the police are so simple minded, they wouldn't dare believe that a young man like yourself could be such a guy." he gave innocent chuckle as well. "What I'm trying to say is; try not to underestimate the people who try to keep you safe at night. They aren't as foolish as you might think."

" Wrong, I don't just base things on what I see on the PC, I also have a few people I can go to if I need to know some information, though I tend to always get more information by hacking your servers which really doesn't have much of a defense may I add, should really tighten it up, Most people would be able to look & get what they want in that half an hour period it takes the Tech to look to see if there has been any new connections made. That or you could just make him take a look in shorter periods..."

Taking another sip from his drink he glanced out the window for a moment as he listened too what more Hideyeki had to say. Laughing slightly as he finished part of it he turned his head back towards the officer tilting it slightly, the smile on his face growing slightly before he spoke.

"Oh I know you're capable of independent thought, but most would keep the whole supernatural thing to themselves, thinking they'd be laughed upon & mocked if they ever mentioned such a thing to others, that & the fact that my mind is far more superior then most, if not all the Task force & other police units in that building. I'd probably have a better chance at catching him then your people would."

A smirk formed the lips of the self-proclaimed detective as he heard the officer infront of him mentioned how he seemed rather familiar too the Vigilante who went by the name "W". He was slightly impressed that he had come to that, considering all they had on him really was files sent from him & maybe a few voice clips which didn't sound like his voice considering he used a voice distorter so they wouldn't be able to tell. However with only that much information he had come to the conclusion that Kado was possibly "W" or "Willo" well he wasn't wrong. Lifting the cup he took another sip before glancing back towards the officer.

"So tell me...are you trying to become a Detective..? "

He had totally avoided mentioning anything about "W" but by the question he had just asked it would of been pretty obvious he was correct in thinking Kado was "W".

Hideyeki managed to shrug his comments about the police force off. If one thought really long and hard, instead of "Fuck the police", they'd notice that at this moment, the police were saying "fuck you", or at least Hideyeki might've given off that impression by his non-chalant sighs. The only difference is when the boy mentioned being smarter than the whole of the police force in that building. He couldn't help but give a light chuckle under his breath, basically saying 'sure' in place of words. This kid was over-confident, though if he actually was W, which he didn't deny, then maybe he had a right to be.

"So tell me...are you trying to become a Detective...?"

Hideyeki raised an eyebrow at the sudden question. "Yes, I am." he answered cautiously. "Though it doesn't take a genius to figure that out, now does it?" he sat up just slightly in his chair and kept his eyes trained on the boy. "Why do you ask?" he questioned, expecting the boy to continue on about how he'd be too scared to voice his opinions on a killer or maybe even vague implications that meant 'I'm W and I'm only a kid' or something along those lines, he wasn't sure.

" Self-Proclaimed, considering there is no evidence in me actually doing any courses in anything that could possibly lead to being a detective. I like the challenge, though so far any case I have taken on I've been able to solve within a matter of days, or at the most a week, but this one..is far more of a challenge & I love it! Though I want to make sure I'm the one who catches him/or her, but most probably going to be a he, but yeah I don't exactly want another detective or anyone for that matter. By what I just said I can presume you're almost certain now that I am "W" or "Willo" which ever one people over there call me by.."

He let his hand wrap around the his drink once more, finishing it off before placing it on the table, empty. Closing the laptop screen he eyed Hideyeki for a moment. Tilting his head slightly.

" Well, considering the only information that the Police have on me is a few voice recordings that have been distorted & maybe a few other pieces that wouldn't mention my age, name or anything you still managed to come to the conclusion that I was possibly "W" which you weren't wrong obviously, but the fact that you guessed it was me when loads of teenagers or young adults that were interested in Kira could do what I just did it was quite a remarkable deduction on your part. Or was it just a lucky guess..? "

He chuckled slightly, basically asking how he had come to that conclusion, because if it was nothing but a lucky guess Kado would be disappointed. In theory it would be better if it was a lucky guess considering he wouldn't have any information to suggest so, but he was actually hoping the contrary, hoping that he did have information/evidence that suggested that he was "W". Evidence or Information that he had found by himself & not by someone else in the police department.

Hideyeki found himself hard-pressed to show any amazement in his confirmation that he was in fact W. Sure, he would have to admit he was a bit surprised that he was arresting the so-called 'detective', but beyond that, he hadn't the time. By the sounds of it, W was no more certain of what Kira was than the rest of the world, and even better - he had a selfish reason for wanting to catch him. He wouldn't drop his guard or slip up, but he felt comfortable knowing he was set up rather well and didn't really have to worry too much about either W or C. After all, he now knew who W was and could find him if need be, and he was the medium between C and the police force. Things were looking good.

Kira, the police officer, simply adjusted himself in his seat to better comfort himself and placed an elbow on the table, his hand resting on his chin as W now continued to speak.

When he was asked how he figured out that W was a young boy, Hideyeki decided against telling him the truth and went for a simple shrug. "Lucky guess, I suppose." he seemed to let the falseness of that answer leak out in his tone, though this was all on purpose. It'd leave the man assuming that he figured it out on his own - which was true - but, it also told him that that information was 'classified' and that he wouldn't be mentioning the subject further.

"Come on." Hideyeki said after a brief few moments of silence. "Whether you think you're smarter than the police or not, you did make a amateur mistake, I'm told and you were caught. I'm not too fond of spending a supposed day of vacation working, so I'll insist that we hurry up and get to the station, I've got places to be, thugs to arrest and whatnot. Are you ready?" it might've sounded weird coming from an officer sent to arrest you, but Hideyeki wasn't arresting a murderer, he was arresting a detective. He didn't let on, but he did hold some respect for this boy, especially after seeing some of his solved cases, and this was just a small pleasantry he could afford to give him.

How he had said it made it easy to tell that it was a lie but he believed he done it on purpose, that or it was a bad attempt at trying to hide the truth, though that was all he wanted to know really, that he had figured it out himself, he'd of been disappointed if he hadn't off. Closing the laptop so it went into stand by he leant down and unplugged the charger from the wall followed by putting both of them in the shoulder bag on the seat next to him. Chuckling softly he looked up at the officer once more.

" Well that is true, but instead of it being because I wasn't smart enough it was just the fact that I had became too involved in the article I was reading, though I guess I won't be making that mistake again, as the saying goes: You learn from your mistakes.."

Standing up he took his wallet out before leaving a 100 Yen note on the table, though he hadn't spent that much of drinks he couldn't be bothered waiting for the bill to come out and having too pay, money wasn't a problem for him obviously, he basically had unlimited funding coming from his parents who worked abroad.

"Mhm, though I guess this will be quick anyway, won't be long until I'm released once more into the wilderness."

Even though Kira had actually seen him, finding his name wouldn't be easy, he had made sure that the easy things to track with his name on were either gone or had a different name on it, that or the other documents had a name change for a certain other reason that wasn't done by him but more for his own safety considering the actual work of one, or both of his parents, even he didn't really know what his parents work exactly was.

"Mhm, though I guess this will be quick anyway, won't be long until I'm released once more into the wilderness."

"Right..." Hideyeki didn't bother too much with that comment, as he didn't really care much. This guy didn't do anything serious, at least not bad-serious. Letting him loose would probably just inevitably end with him accessing data on the Kira case, but if there was honestly something that would threaten Kira, Hideyeki would make sure it wasn't on record. After all, he got to screen any information between C and the Toky PD. Perfect position if he played his cards right.

With not much reason to stay here, Kira began towards the door, keeping an eye on W as they left the establishment. It wasn't as if he truly expected the boy to run, but he was still on duty, and there was always the smallest possibility. So, after a short walk across the steet and to the station, both Kira and W found themselves under eyes from a lot of officers. Ironically, nobody besides Kira knew W's identity, and nobody at all knew Kira's. To the police, it was just some punk hacker that officer Yoshida brought in, and that's all it would be. He hadn't much to gain by turning W in, so he didn't. A short, mean-looking officer appeared to take Kado from Hideyeki's custody and deal with him. "Yoshida! Caught yourself a boy, did ya? What a catch." the sarcasm in his voice was almost lethal.

Yoshida only smiled in return. "I'm supposed to not be here, so cut me some slack, eh?" he chuckled afterwards. "Well, you can take it from here, right? I think I ought to get goin." he said without any context as to where. W didn't need to know Hideyeki's ironic role in helping catch himself. "Anyways, I'll catch you later." Hideyeki himself then parted ways before turning off and exiting the building from where he entered, leaving W and the detective, Cruz, to interact.

The older, heavier-set man observed Kado before speaking unenthusiastically. "Follow me and keep your trap shut." he told W before giving a small cough and starting further into the building.

Hideyeki would then walk to the same establishment from before, arriving just on time today. He open the doors to the cafe and let himself in, glancing around for that familiar medium he spoke to the day prior.

Cosette lifted the cup of tea to her lips. Tisane. A favorite of hers. It was steamy and soothing and helped her think. After a delicate sip, she set down the little teacup and took out her ever-present fan, folding it open with a quick snap of her wrist. As she idly fanned herself, her mind drifted towards the Kira case and the upcoming meeting with that young police officer—what was his name, again? Yoshida, wasn't it? She thought for a moment, then nodded to herself. That was right, Yoshida was all he gave. Probably his last name, or even just an alias. Though I suppose it hardly matters in the end, Cosette mused to herself. He wouldn't be the only one covering up his identity, after all, and it wasn't as if she had any room to talk.

It was unfortunate, all this suspicion and mistrust. Unfortunate and tiresome. But if Cosette's hunch was by any chance accurate at all, then names were very dangerous things indeed.

Ding. The soft peal of a mechanical bell sounded on the computer. An alert. Cosette checked her messages, and then closed her eyes, pleased. Speaking of names…

"Oh, Caron," she murmured. "You really do have the best timing."

James Caron, National Police Chief from back home, had sent her the materials she'd requested. She scanned the file, checking the background information, and then nodded. Three people. Two names. It was absolutely perfect for her needs.

The first files displayed the Harman twins, Charles and Brian, recently convicted of the kidnapping and murder of two five-year-old children.

The third file depicted a large man with a face riddled in knotted scars. There was no name; all the scars on the man's face made it hard to identify who he was. They did, however, get a clear snapshot of him, courtesy of a security camera—hence the photograph. He was a brutal man—nicknamed Le Vautrin—and was wanted for a litany of crimes including drug possession, rape, and robbery.

Overall, it was ideal. High profile criminals, yet to be broadcasted to the world. Not only that, but these criminals had committed heinous crimes—the kinds that Kira never ignored. Now, Cosette normally liked to retain judgement on matters she had limited knowledge of, but some of the things these people had done were truly atrocious.

It had crossed her mind, of course, that notifying Kira of their existence could potentially be condemning them to death. She didn't exactly like it, but sometimes these things had to be done. As the old saying went, one couldn't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs, and she'd definitely choose these particular people over an innocent any day. It wasn't her style, all this gambling upon lives, but then again Kira was a special case. Another day he or she continued to operate uncaught was another day fraught with death and fear and unrest.

"C, the liaison has arrived," came Pierre's steady voice through the speaker. "Shall I greet him?"

"Please do," she said. Unlike yesterday, the police officer had arrived exactly on time today. Better, she thought grudgingly. Taking another sip of her tisane, Cosette observed the young man enter Aragawa Cafe through the camera on Pierre's glasses. They—namely, she and Pierre—had decided to continue this particular approach, despite Officer Yoshida's admonishments. It was best to err on the side of caution for now, at least until they were sure the police would cooperate. Of course, Cosette was largely unconcerned on this front. There was, after all, very little reason for the police not to cooperate with them. The Kira case was going to be a tricky one, and warranted all the help the police could get.

Cosette was mildly surprised that she was looking forward to this impromptu little partnership. Normally, she preferred working alone, perfectionist that she was. But this Yoshida fellow was very sharp. He was observant, meticulous, professional. It spoke well of the Tokyo police department. Implied good things about the future.

On the screen, she watched as her faithful butler rose to greet the officer and usher him toward a secluded table. She glanced to the screen on her left, letting Pierre handle the social niceties while she gave the files another once-over.

For now, this will be enough. Now to see the officer's response.

"Peter." Hideyeki nodded as he took a seat in the same chair he had the day prior. The lack of honorific was only because he knew that 'Peter' was not from Japan, and it probably wouldn't mean anything to him if it wasn't included. If anything, it'd just be a waste of breath. Getting as much done in as little time as possible was a good thing in Hideyeki's book, and so he found himself pulling out the contract that he had picked up on the way and set it on the table for Peter to pick up and go through.

He then looked at Peter and spoke. "Seems we agree with the partnership." he began. "And it sounds like we'll be getting used to these meetings as well." he added without showing his distaste for the arrangements in his voice. Kira had to have some time to himself, after all. Police work and meetings with someone trying to catch you do sound like they'd get tiresome. But, he couldn't complain about the fact that he was able to moniter everything. Of course, if he made it obvious that Kira knew stuff he shouldn't, then that would be the same as announcing that Kira worked in the police station, and Hideyeki was not comfortable with that scenario, not one bit. He'd play it safe for now.
