Personality:
Dúlinnor often comes across as being..stuck up or over-confident to those that are not Elves. Almost as if he thinks that he knows more than everyone else in the world. Once getting to know Dúlinnor, he's viewed as a gentle soul who would do anything for those he holds dearest. It is rare to see him angry or bothered, usually keeping a cool facade in front of others. It takes a great deal to stress Dúlinnor out. Typically, he is always kind to those he meets unless he sees them as a threat or has been wronged by that being.

History:
Dúlinnor was born into a fairly average Elvish family. He was the second born, the youngest of the two boys. Dúlinnor grew to be very close with his brother and by the time the two were of age, they were inseparable. As the boys slowly grew, so did their parents' favoring towards the older boy. No matter what Dúlinnor did, he was never as good as his brother. However, he still adored his older brother. They ended up joining the Wardens together. It was here that Dúlinnor realized that he was actually better than his brother at something. Archery. While his brother was much more skilled in the way of the sword, Dúlinnor was more skilled with a bow. Though, their parents refused to see this. Currently, they are on a five month patrol that will be ending very soon. Dúlinnor is looking to having a short break before having to head back out.

So begins...

"Of course. I am certain that we can find one for you." Reinette absolutely brightened up at his words. The large package of clothing she was carrying seemed that much lighter, and she felt as if there was a new-found happiness in her step. The pair made their way toward a book seller nearby - Reinette continued to draw attention, though this time it was not only because she was clearly not an Elf... but also because of the dazzling smile she had plastered on her face.

Dúlinnor's voice answered the young woman's question about returning to clean herself. "Not at all. We will head back once we obtain your book... Here we are. I believe we can find your book here." His voice was so kind - that was something that Reinette had noticed almost as soon as they had first made acquaintance with each other. She liked the way that he said his words, the way his mouth and voice seemed to let the words float away, as if caught on some wind.

Smiling, Reinette entered the tent with Dúlinnor, though she soon passed him. Her eyes wide, she took in the vast amount of books that the seller was offering.

The voice of an older man spoke from behind her - it would have made her jump under any other circumstance, except for the fact that this voice held such wisdom and kindness that it could not startle even the most shy of creatures. She turned her head and saw the shopkeeper, an older looking Elven man. "Ah..." He said, a slight glitter in his eye. "You are not... Please forgive me, for my Westron is not well spoken." Reinette laughed slightly before speaking.

"There is no need to be forgiven. You speak just fine." She smiled at the man, who offered her a kind smile in return. The happiness in his eyes was apparent, and he approached her more as she turned her head to look at the shelves.

"Do you have a blank book? Something I might be able to write in...?"

The shopkeeper nodded, and pulled down a beautifully bound leather book from the top-most shelf. It seemed like it had been sitting there for all eternity, and with the light of the day on it's covers once more, it seemed to glow with a new-found life. Like it had been meant for her all along.

"It's beautiful..." Reinette whispered, taking the masterpiece of binding from his hands gently. He smiled at the book, turning his eyes to her.

"Please, take something to scribe your thoughts..." He offered her a quill of sorts, bony in structure and yet altogether natural. She took it from his hand, turning it over in her own. A bright smile was offered to the man, before he nodded gently, and turned to Dúlinnor. The younger Elven man handed over a few coins to the shopkeeper, who took them and thanked the other man in Elvish.

All the while, Reinette was glancing around at the other books. Most of them seemed to be in Elvish, and she felt the twinge of curiosity. What did they say? She couldn't help but wonder if she would be able to learn to read them at any point. She thought she just might be gutsy enough to try to teach herself in any spare time she had.

Turning to thank the shopkeeper, he smiled, his eyes twinkling happily. "If you shall ever need more to keep your thoughts, I shall be here."

"Thank you..." She said, most sincerely, before turning to exit the tent with Dúlinnor. She turned to wave a goodbye to the shopkeeper, who simply smiled.

Turning back to Dúlinnor, the Elven male offered to carry Reinette's things, insisting that they head back to his home to ready themselves. At first, she was reluctant to have him carry anything - he had been the one kind enough to buy them for her in the first place, so having them carried by him just seemed to her to be adding insult to injury. But he insisted, so she reluctantly handed him the parcel of clothing items from the first stop. She couldn't bring herself to part with the journal and quill though, the former feeling unnaturally warm, but right, in her hands.

They walked together for a short while to his flet. Reinette asked him various questions about his home - how it balanced so well in the tree, how long he had lived there, what it was like to be a Warden. He answered however he could, though most of the questions - and most of the answers, rightfully so - were just simply to fill the space between them as they walked. Reinette was more curious about who Dúlinnor was, what everything around her was, as time went on. But she felt as if her questions were a bit much at times, and tried her best to not overwhelm the man beside her with too many questions.

After a short amount of time had passed, they arrived back at Dúlinnor's flet. He took her inside, showing her where her room was. Opening the door to her room, she was happy to see that the place she would be staying was so clean and tidy. It was simple, but it was beautiful in every right.

"It is not much, I'm afraid, but I offer it you for as long as you have need of it."

"Not much?" She echoed back, though her reaction was more of a question. "It's beautiful... It's perfect. I couldn't ask for anything more."

Dúlinnor deposited her things down on the bed, and then explained the location of the bath. Reinette nodded, smiling, and thanked him as he left the room so she could get ready.

Once Dúlinnor had taken his leave, she closed the door to the room. Peeling her clothing from her body, she tucked them on top of the dressing table, before taking a look at her reflection in a nearby mirror of sorts. She noted a few cuts and scrapes - probably from when she was was sleeping on the forest floor - as well as a few minor bruises - most likely from when she had passed out. She looked a little tired though, but she figured a revitalizing bath would make her feel more energized.

Stepping into the bathroom, she found a tub that was more like a in in-ground pool the size of a large soaking tub. There was water inside the bath already, hot and steaming. Stepping in, her muscles immediately relaxed, and she sunk into it like a warm embrace.

She scrubbed the dirt and grime from her body, submerging herself fully. Once she came up for air, she scrubbed her hair clean, using body washes and hair washes that were placed nearby. The smell of lavender and lemongrass filled her senses, and she reveled in its feeling a little while longer, before she decided she had spent enough time relaxing.

Stepping from the tub, she found some plush cloths nearby to dry off with, as well as a plush robe of sorts. Slipping in, she began the task of drying her long blonde hair. The cloths seemed to suck the water clear from her hair, and the process took much shorter than she had anticipated. Soon, she was dry, so she stepped from the bathroom to her bedroom, looking through the purchases from earlier.

A beautiful shimmering dress of a baby or powder blue color stood out the most to her. It had silver woven and embroidered throughout the piece. A beautiful silver and blue corset was built into the dress, for which Reinette was thankful. Many of the other dresses would require assistance, for their corsets were separate and Reinette knew she couldn't tighten them fully herself. She was also thankful for the two pairs of pants she saw in the pile of clothing. She was also thankful for the options provided to her in footwear, and she chose a pair of shoes appropriate for the dress.

Tying herself into the dress, she found some silver hair accents, and tied a few strands of the beautiful silver vine into her hair. It seemed to settle there, as if it had always belonged. Approaching the mirror from before, she gasped at the way she looked.

A smile began to creep onto her face, as she examined herself from every which way. Confidence blazing once more, she exited the room, making her way toward the main sitting room. She found Dúlinnor sitting on one of the seats in the room, and she cleared her throat briefly before offering the man a bright smile. "Well, what do you think?" She asked, as she did a small and slow promenade for him, turning fully around once so he could see the entire dress from all angles.

Her hair tumbled down around her shoulders, and passed her lower back, shining as bright as the silver that was woven into her hair. Reinette looked absolutely beautiful in the piece, the colors complimenting her fair skin and hair, her eyes standing out against all the light colors. It hugged her curves in all the right places, and she felt absolutely at ease in it.

She thought it would have been vain to admit it... But she felt absolutely ravishing in her ensemble. She felt like she could take on the world.

Dúlinnor spent some time simply reading. In fact, he was not sure quite how long had passed before he heard the young woman clearing her voice. He immediately tore his eyes from the book and looked to the Mortal. As his eyes fell to the woman, he suddenly seemed to freeze as he took in her image. It was easy to see that she was in a better mood than earlier, something that Dúlinnor was glad of. "Well, what do you think?" Reinette asked, slowly moving. He continued to watch her.

She was absolutely stunning. A fool could see that. Not that he didn't think her lovely before. There was just something different about her now and he could not place it. He finally offered her a smile. "You are beautiful." He said, suddenly seeming to break out of the frozen state he'd been in when he'd first seen her. He sat the book down, rising from his seat.

He slowly approached her, his gaze never leaving her. Dúlinnor suddenly continued speaking. "I would also venture to say that you look as if you were meant to be here." He was unsure if she could understand what he meant though regardless he meant the words. It was not often that the Elves of Lothlórien welcomed a Mortal so easily within their Realm. However, Reinette truly looked as if she was one of them.

Dúlinnor turned from her then, slowly making his way over towards the door. "We should leave. I've no doubt that you are likely famished as Aglaron more than likely did not offer you anything to eat this morning." He said, glancing back to her. He opened the door though hesitated, waiting for the woman to join him. Only then did he offer his arm to her. He then began leading the way once again.

His parents did not live so close to him. It was something that Dúlinnor had made sure of. He'd decided that putting as much distance between them as possible was a good action. It had helped somewhat. Though it was still painfully clear to him that they favored Aglaron, they did not fight nearly as much as they had when he'd still been living with them. They began heading in the same direction that he'd led her earlier. "It will take us a short walk to arrive. I'm afraid that my family lives nearly on the other side of the city."

His voice was apologetic, aware that they would have to travel a bit to reach their destination. Dúlinnor, however, continued speaking with Reinette. He was glancing at her from time to time, still amazed at how lovely she was. He found himself in high spirits as they walked. Even though he was unsure of how this meeting would go.

As they soon neared his parents' home, Dúlinnor suddenly stopped, turning to look at Reinette as the beautifully crafted building lay before them not more than ten paces away. "Are you ready?" He asked her, looking at her. He waited for her to speak before turning and closing the distance to the door. He paused there, glancing to her once again before knocking. He could have simply gone in but since he had Reinette with him he decided that it was best to knock. A few short moments passed before the door opened, revealing a female Elf that was only slightly older looking than Dúlinnor. She had long, blonde hair that fell straight, reaching her lower back. She wore a simple dress though that did not hide her beauty.

At seeing Dúlinnor, the woman smiled happily. "Dúlinnor, I had worried that you would not come. Aglaron had told me of what has happened. It warms my heart to see you well. And this is the Mortal you found? She is lovely. You must tell me everything! I have never met one of her kind before. What's her name? What is she like?" Thurilostel was clearly happy to see Reinette which caused Dúlinnor to smile at her. "Of course I would come. Mother and Father would not be happy with me if I did not. This is Lady Reinette, Thurilostel. Perhaps you would like to keep her occupied while I speak with my parents and your husband?"

The female Elf nodded happily. She was Aglaron's wife and was clearly with child. However, still she was much interested in Reinette. Dúlinnor suddenly turned his attention to Reinette. "This is Thurilostel, Aglaron's wife. She is quite excited that you are joining us. She is wishing you to join her for a few moments. She speaks some Westron though you may have to be patient with her. She has not been learning the language for very long. I will return to you shortly." He said, smiling. It was then that Thurilostel moved, allowing the pair to enter the large home.

Dúlinnor took his leave from the women, leaving them alone for a few moments. He made his way through the home, quickly finding his mother. Dúlinnor took after the older Elf quite a bit. When he'd been a child the woman had favored him until Aglaron had begun gaining achievements. "Mother." Dúlinnor said softly, coming closer to her. The female Elf turned, smiling at her youngest son. "Dúlinnor, my child. It warms my heart to see you safe once again. Your brother has told me and your father all of which has transpired whilst you've been gone. And from the sound of it you've brought the Human with you. Your father will not be pleased with your actions. You know this."

He was at least glad that his mother did not sound too terribly angry with him. However, his father's voice soon sounded. "Your mother is right. Why would you spend any more time than you need to with someone like her? She will cause you nothing but sorrow and death should you continue down this path." Dúlinnor forced himself to remain calm, watching the older Elf steadily. "The Lady has granted Lady Reinette sanctuary within our Realm until such a time that she can leave. She has none in this world. She is alone. I could not simply just turn my back to her."

His father was suddenly close to him, the anger nearly radiating from him. Dúlinnor was certain that the others within the home could hear and he was only too glad that Reinette did not understand Elvish. "You are a fool to allow her within your home. Humans destroy everything that they touch.." His father was interrupted as Aglaron entered the room, speaking. "Father, I have already spoken to Dúlinnor on this matter. You needn't keep yelling at him. Especially with the woman so near. She will likely know that something is wrong."

Their father moved from the room suddenly, making his way from them. Aglaron placed a hand on Dúlinnor's shoulder, giving him a understanding gaze. The two brothers left their mother, heading to find the younger women. "I may not like the Mortal but your life is your own. I would only suggest you tread carefully, however. You are my brother and I only wish to make sure that you know what you're doing." Soon they'd come upon the dining room which was already set, Thurilostel already at the table. No doubt upon hearing the arguing earlier and had decided it was best for her and Reinette to get out of the way.

Dúlinnor would not look at either of them for the time being, instead taking a seat next to Reinette. He'd expected the anger from his father though it had not prepared him for it. It would only be a short time before the food was served and the oldest Elves would join them. Aglaron glanced to the human, merely nodding in her direction, finally offering her a small smile. "Will you tell your Mortal that she is lucky. I doubt that many would have stood up for her as you have done." He said to the younger male Elf. Dúlinnor simply shook his head. "She does not need to know. I would prefer that she not know just yet what happened. Please." Aglaron was clearly not pleased with his brother's words.

The brothers fell into silence and suddenly their mother entered the room. The woman began setting stuff down upon the table, several different foods. She then turned her gaze to Dúlinnor and then to Reinette. She felt badly for her son. He only ever acted so when he believed fully in something. She could not be angry with him and so offered a smile to the Mortal in hopes that her son would see. He did and the male Elf suddenly turned to Reinette. "This is my mother,Lady Amareth." He said, making sure that she understood that it best to refer to the elder woman in such formality. His father would arrive soon and he dreaded it though tried to hide it. His mother understood some Westron though could not speak it, so instead spoke to her son. He then turned his attention back to the woman at his side. "She says that it is an honor to have you in her home and that you are welcome here." His gaze was on her now, watching her. He hoped that she'd not realized that what exactly had happened but if she did..he would not lie to her.

You are beautiful."

Reinette could feel the tinge of red tint her cheeks at Dúlinnor's words. His smile was brilliant, and he stood up to approach her. She couldn't help but smile back at him.

"I would also venture to say that you look as if you were meant to be here." His eyes were on her, and she turned her gaze down to her dress, before looking back up at him. Her smile reflected his own.

"Thank you..." Her voice trailed off. She didn't know what to say, but she could hear her heart beating in her ears.

Dúlinnor turned then, and made his way toward the door. Reinette followed after him as he spoke. "We should leave. I've no doubt that you are likely famished as Aglaron more than likely did not offer you anything to eat this morning." She hadn't really realized it - her day had been such a whirlwind of activity - but she felt like she was running on electricity, and while she was hungry, the excitement hadn't quiet worn off yet.

Dúlinnor opened the door, turning to offer his arm to her. Reinette gladly accepted, wrapping her own around his lightly, resting the palm of her hand against his forearm. With that, the two exited his flet, Reinette following Dúlinnor's lead.

"It will take us a short walk to arrive. I'm afraid that my family lives nearly on the other side of the city."

Reinette felt the twinge of pain rush through her heart at the sound of the word. 'Parents...' she thought sadly to herself, wishing that her own were somewhere, happy, no longer in pain. But she kept her smile, instead letting Dúlinnor's voice coax her back to the happiness she had felt earlier. It wasn't that she had lost it... Just the thought of her mother and father had dulled it slightly.

The pair talked as they went forward - Reinette asked questions about what the food would be like, what traditional dishes were. Just things to keep her mind occupied. She didn't notice the glances Dúlinnor sent her way, she was too busy watching the world around her, taking it all in.

Soon, a large and gorgeous home sat before them, and Reinette felt Dúlinnor stop. She ceased moving as well, looking into his eyes as he focused on her. "Are you ready?" he asked her. She nodded, answering him with a yes, wondering what on Earth she needed to be ready for.

They then turned back towards the door, and Dúlinnor knocked three times. It wasn't long before the door was opened, and Reinette felt like the air left her at the sight of the beautiful woman beyond the doorway. Her hair was long and blonde, and rivaled her own in length and fullness. She was dressed simply, but it didn't matter - she could have been wearing a trash bag and she would have been just as beautiful.

Reinette took in everything about the woman in front of her as she and Dúlinnor spoke. The Elven woman was drop dead gorgeous, and Reinette couldn't help but wonder who she was exactly.

Whatever they were saying ended with the woman nodding enthusiastically. Dúlinnor turned to Reinette, and the young woman turned to look at the male before her. "This is Thurilostel, Aglaron's wife. She is quite excited that you are joining us. She is wishing you to join her for a few moments. She speaks some Westron though you may have to be patient with her. She has not been learning the language for very long. I will return to you shortly."

Reinette nodded, turning to smile at Thurilostel. The two women moved into the home, Dúlinnor following behind. Dúlinnor left them, and Reinette followed Thurilostel to the sitting room. She motioned for Reinette to sit, and the two took seats near each other.

Thurilostel turned to take her in - her whole persona just seemed to smile. She opened her mouth after a second, paused, and then spoke. "Your dress..." she paused, smiling, seemingly searching for a word. "It is beautiful." She said after a moment. Reinette smiled, and waved her hand in a dismissive gesture, though she was very pleased.

"Thank you, Dúlinnor was so kind to get it for me..." She touched the fabric of the dress as it rested on her lap, smiling. "He is so kind..." She continued after a moment, looking up at Thurilostel. The other woman smiled brightly, seeming very curious at the foreign girl.

Thurilostel seemed to be searching for something to say, so Reinette broke the silence. "Congratulations... You must be very happy." She gestured to the rather pregnant woman in front of her, and Thurilostel smiled deeply.

"Thank you, your words... are kind. I am truly happy." There was a loud commotion from the other room, and both girls heads turned in the direction of the sound. Reinette wondered why the voice sounded so angry - she hoped nothing was her own fault.

Thurilostel was listening intently to what was being said, and she soon turned to the other woman. "Come. We will... take our seat." Reinette stood, following slowly behind Thurilostel to the dining room.

Dúlinnor soon entered the room, taking a seat next to Reinette. She looked at the Elf questioningly, but his face gave away nothing. So she turned to look at who she presumed was his mother as she entered the room. Dúlinnor introduced her, and Reinette bowed her head deeply to her before greeting her.

"This is my mother,Lady Amareth. She says that it is an honor to have you in her home and that you are welcome here."

"It is so nice to meet you, Lady Amareth." She smiled at the woman, who returned her smile. "Thank you for graciously accepting me to your home. It means a lot to me. I am honored to be here." The woman was setting the table, and Reinette turned wondering eyes to all the delicious looking foods being placed on the table.

She turned to Dúlinnor, offering him a smile. She caught Thurilostel's gaze on the way, and she could have sworn that she saw a twinkle of happiness and knowing in the woman's eyes. Reinette offered Aglaron a smile as well, fully intending on congratulating him after the dinner was over on the impending birth of his child. She knew that she didn't know them for long - she had only just met his wife - but Reinette had always been someone who loved children, and she was instantly happy for the future that they had.

Reinette spoke and Dúlinnor was glad that the Human had picked up on his hint. His mother smiled at the woman. Though she did not approve..it was Dúlinnor's decision. "Thank you for graciously accepting me to your home. It means a lot to me. I am honored to be here." Reinette said. Amareth nodded to the young woman, as if trying to tell Reinette that she was glad to have Reinette there for however long she wished to remain. The woman continued setting the table and Aglaron spoke with his wife.

Suddenly, Dúlinnor noted Reinette moving and so he turned his head slightly so that he could look at her. She smiled at him and..he could not help but return the gesture. Though he was in a much more sour mood now, the woman at his side seemed able to make him forget about what had happened mere moments before. "Not speaking with her will not matter once father is here." Aglaron said as he returned Reinette's smile. Dúlinnor merely tilted his head slightly, almost as if he was thinking over his brother's words.

However, he did not have to answer before their father entered the room. Harnor was a tall, well built Elf. He had a head of pale colored hair and it was easy to see that he was a man that put up with little nonsense. His face was stern as his gaze moved about the room. Aglaron and Dúlinnor immediately stood, their heads bowed slightly as their father made his way to the head of the table. "Greetings, father." The brothers both chorused as if it was rehearsed. Harnor did not comment, instead taking his seat. Only then did Aglaron and Dúlinnor take their seats once again.

"This is my father, Lord Harnor.." Dúlinnor had tried speaking to Reinette when the older Elf interrupted. "Dúlinnor tells me about you, child." He said, his gaze settling on Reinette. "I do not know you nor your full story yet I will not lie to you. During my time with the Wardens have brought me little love for Men." The older Elf was gathering food onto his plate as the rest of the family slowly joined in as well. "They are weak and bring nothing but death with them."

Suddenly he was looking at her, as if he was trying to frighten her away from his son. "That is enough." Dúlinnor said, his gaze slowly moving to his father. The tension could be felt throughout the room though the Elven women knew not to interfere. It was not often that Dúlinnor would defend himself or someone else against his father. The older Elf had once been Marchwarden a very long time ago. He'd been through much war and had met with many of the races that lived in their world. He'd only left due to an injury that had left him with a shake of the left arm when he tried to use it.

"You would speak against me?" Harnor said, almost unbelieving. "Your father..the one that has stood behind you throughout your life?" Dúlinnor was looking down, thinking. "I would like to finish this meal civilly and then you can go back to treating me like the disappointment that I know you see me as. You won't see us again. I am sorry to have bothered you." Dúlinnor finally said, annoyance crossing his features.

Amareth was suddenly looking worriedly at her youngest. Aglaron suddenly began speaking with his father, trying to salvage the evening. There was no reason for their father to be acting so. Yes, Reinette was a Human but it was clear that already Dúlinnor held care for her. Even if the younger Elf did not realize it yet. It was likely that...which bothered their father more than the fact that he'd opened his home to a Mortal.

Slowly, the meal began to pick up and happy voices soon began around him. Dúlinnor barely partook in conversation. Aglaron even tried to gain his brother's attention but failed. He cast a worried glance to Reinette. He somehow doubted that the younger Elf had informed Reinette of the troubles that they had within their family.

The meal passed much too slowly for Dúlinnor's liking. His father made a point to ignore him and Reinette though he'd suspected that would be the case. The moment that the meal was over, Dúlinnor rose as did Aglaron. The brothers began helping to clear the table and their mother was soon up as well, moving about. Harnor had turned his gaze to Reinette. "Do not mistake my words for cruelty. It is merely my experiences in the past that cause my distrust of you. Dúlinnor has far too soft a heart. I would not see my son suffer because of you. It would be best if he parted ways with you. However..I cannot force him to do so. And so, I suppose that I must get used to the fact that you shall be around for now. He is angry with me. That I know. Perhaps you will tell him that it is not necessary for the two of you to stay away. I..suppose it would be nice to have a new face around." It was the best apology that Harnor could give the woman.

Dúlinnor, once finishing helping his mother had moved from the others, making his way back into his old bedroom. Nothing had changed. It looked as it had before he'd left. Neat and tidy, filled with many items that his mother had deemed to keep. He was rather unsure why she'd kept their rooms the same. He slowly moved through the room, gently taking a seat on the bed. He leaned over, his elbows resting on his knees. He placed his head in his hands, nearly hiding his face. He took a deep breath, trying to calm down. He feared that Reinette would want to leave him, to go somewhere else after his father's cruel words. For some reason that he could not explain he did not wish for her to go. He was already finding that he enjoyed her presence. He knew that he should not have left her alone in there with his family though he suspected that eventually she would find him..or rather, Thurilostel would likely send the Mortal in the right direction once the other Elves broke away for the evening.

It wasn't long before Dúlinnor's father entered the room, and Reientte couldn't tear her eyes from the man. He seemed to command power around him wherever he moved, intimidating in his own right. Dúlinnor and his brother stood from the table, but Thurilostel stayed seated, so Reinette decided that she ought to as well. One their father sat, they did as well.

Reinette's eyes traveled across the table to gaze upon the man who had just joined them as Dúlinnor spoke. "This is my father, Lord Harnor..." He was almost immediately cut off by his father.

"Dúlinnor tells me about you, child. I do not know you nor your full story yet I will not lie to you. During my time with the Wardens have brought me little love for Men. They are weak and bring nothing but death with them." Reinette felt his words like the swift hand of a slap to the face or a fist to the gut. They seemed to knock the breath right out of her, unexpectedly. Numbly, she slowly put some food onto her plate as the rest of the family took their turns. Her eyes had turned away from the Elf and were focused on her plate instead, her thoughts empty, safe for a few choice thoughts.

'Men bring nothing but death?' she thought. She wondered what Men of this world were like, then. She doubted she wanted to meet any, if that were the case. Bitterly, she thought to herself that men weren't much different on Earth either.

...But there were the kind ones too. The ones who did good.

She ate slowly as Dúlinnor seemed to snap at his father.

"You would speak against me? Your father... the one that has stood behind you throughout your life?" The words were angry, and more Elven words flowed between the two, before Aglaron jumped into the conversation, apparently steering it in a different sort of direction. Dúlinnor fell silent, eating his food. Reinette looked up to Aglaron and his wife; the male cast him a worried look, and Reinette looked over briefly to Dúlinnor. Somehow, she felt as if this were all her fault, and a disappointment in herself had begun to seep into her skin.

The group continued to eat, Reinette and Dúlinnor remaining mostly silent. Soon as they had finished eating, Dúlinnor and Aglaron cleared the table. Reinette sat in her seat, watching after the brothers, before the familiar feeling of eyes on her caused her to look toward Harnor.

The older Elf began to speak. "Do not mistake my words for cruelty. It is merely my experiences in the past that cause my distrust of you. Dúlinnor has far too soft a heart. I would not see my son suffer because of you. It would be best if he parted ways with you. However... I cannot force him to do so. And so, I suppose that I must get used to the fact that you shall be around for now. He is angry with me. That I know. Perhaps you will tell him that it is not necessary for the two of you to stay away. I... suppose it would be nice to have a new face around."

A small and light, yet sad smile seemed to touch her face. She remained silent for a moment before speaking. "I suppose I understand your feelings..." She paused, looking down at her hands which were clasped in her lap, before looking back up at him again. "I never meant to cause any problems... It wasn't my intention." She desperiately hoped that he believed her. "This place is so new to me. Everything. The whole of Middle Earth. It's obsurd to hear, I suppose. But I was never supposed to be here, and if your son hadn't found me... hadn't helped me..." She paused, her breath seeming to catch in her throat.

She could feel the bite and sting of tears that threatened to show, and she inhaled sharply, begging them not to spill. Once she was sure she wouldn't cry, she spoke again. "I would greatly like to be able to return... Without Dúlinnor, I'd be alone. For him, I am thankful. For all kindness shown to me, I am thankful..." She looked around the room before taking her eyes back to Harnor. "Familiar faces are something I long for right now. Familiar faces give me hope..."

She would have been begging for pity if she told him her full situation, and that was something she didn't want. She didn't want him to pity her. She just wanted him to understand that her intentions were nothing but good, from the very start. She wanted him to understand that she wasn't like whoever he had met in his travels, simply because she was totally unlike any person in the entirely of Middle Earth. At the very least, she wanted him to know that she was thankful for all kindness shown to her, and that she would never do anything to harm any ties she made.

After a while, Reinette excused herself from the table. She made sure to thank Dúlinnor's mother for a delicious meal. The Elven woman seemed rather pleased that Reinette had enjoyed the meal, and guided the younger girl to the sitting room. Thurilostel was back in the sitting room, her hand resting on one of the chairs next to Aglaron. Dúlinnor's mother left them in the room together, and Reinette's demeanor immediately brightened at the sight of Thurilostel. Turning to Aglaron, she smiled at him. "I already told Thurilostel, but... Congratulations." Her eyes seemed to smile by themselves, and she tucked some stray golden locks behind her ear. She knew that Algaron didn't seem to understand Westron, but she figured his wife could explain it to him.

Reinette herself had thought about being a parent at various times in her life. She loved children, so she was entirely curious about Elven children. But she kept her thoughts to herself. She figured that if Thurilostel and herself became closer, then she would find out soon enough...

She so hoped that she and Thurilostel would become close. It seemed so perfect to have another female nearby. Especially one who seemed as kind as the woman before her.

The group made small talk for a while, Thurilostel practicing her Westron, seemingly happy to have the opportunity. But Reinette wondered where Dúlinnor was, and it seemed Thurilostel could tell what she was thinking.

"Follow the hall, please. You will find him," the Elven woman said after a moment, a smile on her face. Reinette thanked her, and did as she was instructed, eventually coming to an open door. She stood in the doorway for a moment, just watching the Elf. He sat on a bed, his head in his hands. She felt a pang in her heart at the thought that he was frustrated or upset. She knew it had to do with her - she just had a feeling.

Quietly moving into the room - she didn't even bother to knock, because she simply didn't care one way or another - she made her way over to the bed, and gently took a seat next to him.

She was quiet for a moment, before she spoke, a wry smile on her face. "I guess you can't be too mad at him. He's your dad... You'll forgive him eventually. We all do... That's the thing about fathers." Her gaze turned to Dúlinnor then, and she smiled truly at him. She nudged him slightly in the shoulder with her own, hoping to at least get a smile from him.

"I didn't mean to cause any trouble between you and your father..." She said after a moment, turning to look at her own hands in her lap. "Truly, I wasn't expecting it." But she seemed to smile anyway. "Even if he doesn't like me much now, I hope that one day he will. Maybe Men of this world are terrible, but the thing is... First, I'm not from this world. And second... I'm not a man. I'm a woman." It was a joke - she knew the referral of Man meant humans in general, but she couldn't help but want to see him smile.

Aglaron had moved with Thurilostel into the sitting room. He worried that his brother was angry though knew it best to simply let him be. He would get over it soon enough. He had not been sitting with his wife for very long before the Mortal..no..Reinette joined them. He allowed his gaze to lift to her, watching the young woman. It was clear to him that the two women were already fond of each other. It was probably a good thing if Dúlinnor truly planned on allowing this Human to join their circle. Reinette was soon smiling at him and then spoke. Slight confusion crossed his features before turning to Thurilostel and the female Elf more than gladly told him what was said. He simply nodded his thanks, hoping that she would understand.

As the women conversed, Aglaron was content with simply remaining near his wife. Although, he did try to look interested. After some time had passed, Reinette was suddenly leaving them. "She is going to go and speak with your brother. Oh, Aglaron! She is such a lovely person! I do hope that Dúlinnor will continue to bring her round. I may even see if she would like to spend some time with me as the two of you are training after your rest." Aglaron nodded. He knew that his wife did not socialize with many others and he thought that it would be a good thing for the Elf.

Dúlinnor heard footsteps and immediately knew that it was Reinette. He did not move, simply remaining as he'd been the last little bit. She did not enter immediately and the male Elf began to wonder if she would just leave him be. Not that he wanted that. He was unsure when she'd moved, but she was near him and taking a seat beside of him. Silence stretched between them and the Elf remained unmoving. "I guess you can't be too mad at him. He's your dad... You'll forgive him eventually. We all do... That's the thing about fathers." She said, breaking the silence.

He moved, finally sitting up, and turned his gaze to Reinette. She was smiling and then nudged him gently. He offered her a ghost of a smile though even that he'd had to force. "Perhaps. Though, that does not make it any easier." He said simply, the serious look returning to his face. "I didn't mean to cause any trouble between you and your father...Truly, I wasn't expecting it. Even if he doesn't like me much now, I hope that one day he will. Maybe Men of this world are terrible, but the thing is... First, I'm not from this world. And second... I'm not a man. I'm a woman." She said, smiling.

Dúlinnor suddenly found himself giving her a true smile, laughing at her words. "Yes..you make very good points." He said, still smiling. "At any rate, it was not your fault. But, let us hope my father will soon get over his hatred for your kind." He paused for a moment, regarding her. He was almost surprised that she seemed to not mind the past few moments. He tilted his head as if he was trying to figure something out. "You are odd." He said at length, suddenly looking seriously at her. Then, just a second later, Dúlinnor rose from his seat, turning towards Reinette, smiling once again. "But..that is why I like you."

He offered her his hand, gently pulling her up towards him. "We should probably rejoin them." He said, not really wishing to but knowing that if they didn't he'd simply find himself in more trouble. He moved slowly, more so than he normally did. Leading the way back into the sitting room. Aglaron and Thurilostel were still there, talking happily together with Dúlinnor's mother.

Dúlinnor made his way to an empty seat, taking it. His father was nowhere to be seen and he could not say that he was not happy. He knew that what Reinette said was truth. He could not remain angry with the elder man. He was simply looking out for Dúlinnor. He suddenly turned his gaze to Reinette, motioning for her to join them.

Amareth gazed at her youngest with concern though said nothing. He was intent upon not letting the argument bother him. The small group spent another hour together, simply speaking. Dúlinnor translated to Reinette what was being said and even Thurilostel kept up conversation with the Human. With his father gone for the time, it had been a pleasant time. Only as the hour began turning a bit late did Dúlinnor suddenly suggest leaving. "It is getting late. We should probably leave them. We have a walk ahead of us." He waited a moment, allowing Reinette to speak before turning his attention to his brother.

"Are you leaving now? I'd thought you could join us.." Dúlinnor said to the older pair. Aglaron informed him that they were and would join them. Amareth rose from her seat first, Aglaron and Thurilostel following. The eldest Elf hugged the pair, speaking with them briefly. Dúlinnor rose as they were interacting, offering his hand once again to Reinette. He helped her up just as his mother reached him. She gently pulled him to her, hugging him a bit tighter than normal. "Do not let your father get to you. He will come to accept her if are steady in your commitment. Please..do not stay away so long as the last time. I would very much like to see the both of you soon."

Dúlinnor simply nodded as they broke away from each other. Amareth then turned to Reinette. She smiled at the girl before placing a gentle hand upon her shoulder. "My mother wishes for you to visit again in the future. I believe that she has enjoyed your presence." Dúlinnor said, glancing to Reinette. Harnor did not come to bid them a good evening though Dúlinnor had not expected him too. Together, the guests began leaving the home.

Aglaron and Thurilostel lived near Dúlinnor and so they would be able to walk together for most of the trip. Once they were a good two or three feet from their parents' home, Aglaron suddenly took hold of Dúlinnor's arm and pulled him to walk with him, leaving Thurilostel behind them with Reinette. The older Elf looked to his brother and then back at the women..and then ahead again. "I believe that I'll start training in two days time. Perhaps you will join me. Thurilostel can keep Lady Reinette company while we are busy. If I know my wife, she'll be more than pleased. It will also give the Mortal a chance to see more of our Realm. Thurilostel can take her about during her day. I have a feeling that with someone to practice her common language with, Thurilostel will wish to spend much time with her." The older Elf said, a small smile on his face.

"That would be fine. I can speak with Reinette later on the subject though I do not think she would object." Dúlinnor said, returning the smile from his brother. The two continued speaking though kept an eye one the women, allowing them to speak with each other as they made their way through the city. There were not as many Elves wandering about now as most had turned in for the evening. It was only as they were a short distance from Dúlinnor's flet that Aglaron and Thurilostel bid the younger beings a good night and left them, making their way towards their home.

Dúlinnor then turned his attention to Reinette. He offered her his arm, even though they would arrive shortly. "I do hope that this evening was not too terrible. I still feel that I must apologize for my father. He has spent much time amongst Men and has seen their cruelty though you would not notice now." He said, glancing in her direction, concern on his face. He allowed her to speak before smiling slightly.

A short time later Dúlinnor was leading the way back up to his flet. It did not seem to take long before they were inside once again. He released her, turning in her direction. "I would like to thank you for joining me." He said, bowing his head to her. "Aglaron suggested that perhaps you would like to spend some time with Thurilostel in a few days time as we will be back training so that we are ready for when we are called back to the borders. It will allow you to see more of our Realm and my sister would very much enjoy your company I think." He was looking down at her, curious as to what she'd wish to do. He knew that all of this had to be quite a bit for her to take in but it would be best if she just threw herself into their world. At least until Galadriel had discovered a way for Reinette to return home.

Dúlinnor's laugh brought true happiness to Reinette, thankful that she could elevate his mood. "Yes... You make very good points. At any rate, it was not your fault. But, let us hope my father will soon get over his hatred for your kind."

Reinette shrugged slightly - while she wished it too, there wasn't much she felt she could do. Either he would come about it of his own accord and own free will, or else he wouldn't and nothing would change. She didn't think it was right of her to try to force it - all she could do was continue to be who she was. And even if he didn't like Men, hopefully he would come to appreciate her at the very least. At least, that was what Reinette was hoping for...

Reinette felt his eyes on her once more, and she turned to look at him. The words that came from his mouth next caused her to drop her jaw in disbelief.

"You are odd."

It was such a blatant statement; it clearly was not mean, just an observation.

"I will have you know that I am not odd..." She began, but Dúlinnor cut her off, finishing his thought from before.

"But... that is why I like you." He had stood then, his face displaying a smile. Reinette couldn't help but smile back. She took his extended hand as he helped her stand. "We should probably rejoin them."

As the two made their way to the sitting room once more, Reinette finished her thought from before.

"I'm not odd," she said once more, her voice a bit more hushed than usual. "The rest of this world is just weird. I'm the only normal one in it."

The pair joined the group that was already in the sitting room a mere few seconds later. Their conversation stretched out over an hour - Reinette felt fully and entirely included in all discussions, and Thurilostel seemed keen to include her whenever possible. Reinette was thoroughly enjoying herself, but it was soon time for the pair to leave. Dúlinnor prompted her by saying, "It is getting late. We should probably leave them. We have a walk ahead of us."[/b][/i] Reinette knew it to be the case, but she wouldn't lie - she was disappointed all the same.

Aglaron and Thurilostel joined the elf and human, bidding farewell to Amareth before she approached Dúlinnor and Reinette. Dúlinnor had been kind and offered Reinette his hand; she gladly accepted it, as the male helped her stand. Amareth hugged her son, Reinette turning her head to look after his brother and his wife to see where they were.

Soon, she felt Amareth's hand on her shoulder, and she turned to offer the woman a smile. Dúlinnor spoke. "My mother wishes for you to visit again in the future. I believe that she has enjoyed your presence." Reinette was flattered to hear such things, and fully insisted that she would return in the near future, whenever time allowed for it. She felt a happiness in her heart, knowing that the woman before her wanted her to return.

The group of four left not long after that, Reinette turning to look back toward the home as they walked away. Her focused was pulled once more toward the group when she felt Dúlinnor's presence leaving her side. Aglaron had pulled him ahead, and two seemed to be talking intently. Reinette couldn't understand a thing, so she ended up tuning the conversation out.

Thurilostel came up beside her as they walked, and the Elven woman smiled happily at her. "I hope that you... enjoyed tonight." Her Westron was broken slightly, a pause as she had thought about her words. But it seemed like she was getting much better, and for that Reinette was happy (though a little jealous). She wished that she was catching onto the Elvish, but she simply wasn't. Of course, she had barely been there long enough to, and Thurilostel had at least been learning Westron for a while before any of them even knew Reinette existed. So the other woman had an advantage over her. By a lot.

"I did," Reinette began. "I'm glad I was able to meet Dúlinnor's parents, and especially glad I was able to meet you." The Elven woman smiled happily, seemingly glad for the compliment.

"You know," Reinette began after a short moment, her eyes on Dúlinnor. "Dúlinnor has been so kind to me. If it weren't for him, I'd be alone right now."

Thurilostel had her eye on Reinette, and a knowing look seemed to pass in her vision. Reinette couldn't place it - she wasn't even sure she really saw it, so she just chalked it up to her imagination.

"Dúlinnor is a kind soul," Thurilostel said, gesturing to the brothers who were walking side by side and talking. "He has a soft heart. He will not hurt you... but he will..." She seemed to pause to search for a word. "...Protect you." She said after a moment, happy with the word she had chosen.

Reinette remained quiet after that, letting the words sink in. They left a warm feeling in her chest, and she wrapped her arms around her mid-section in a half-hug at the feeling. But soon, the group was parting ways, Reinette insisting that Thurilostel and her have some time to spend together. The Elven woman seemed thoroughly pleased, and Reinette couldn't help but admit that she was also.

Once the married couple had made their way off, Reinette took the arm that Dúlinnor had offered to her. This time, she kept it closer to her, the warmth a reassuring feeling in the cool of the night. "I do hope that this evening was not too terrible. I still feel that I must apologize for my father. He has spent much time amongst Men and has seen their cruelty though you would not notice now."

Reinette thought his words over, reasoning for his father's instant dislike rather apparent. "Please don't apologize," she said. "You did nothing wrong - opinions were expressed, and we cannot be condemned for our life experiences. Hopefully..." She paused, looking over at him. "...I can change his mind."

After a moment she added in, "By the way, the evening was wonderful..." Her cheeks were a bit rosy, a mix of the cool breeze in the air and the blush she felt creeping up her neck. Instead of speaking, the pair made their way back to the flet, and upon arriving Dúlinnor spoke.

"I would like to thank you for joining me. Aglaron suggested that perhaps you would like to spend some time with Thurilostel in a few days time as we will be back training so that we are ready for when we are called back to the borders. It will allow you to see more of our Realm and my sister would very much enjoy your company I think."

Reinette was overjoyed at the invitation, a giddy smile plastering itself instantly to her face. "Of course! I would love to spend some time with Thurilostel! She's so kind!" Her voice was light and airy, happiness evident in it. She was excited at the least, glad to finally have a girl around to chat with.

She wasn't even sure if Elves "chatted", but at that moment she could have cared less.

There was a moment when she had the overwhelming urge to hug Dúlinnor, and she hesitated at first. Did elves hug? Would he explode into a million pieces if she touched him? Her mind raced for a few milliseconds, trying to decide if it was a good idea or not. But she threw all caution to the wind, hugging the male Elf shortly, before pulling away and smiling.

"You've done so much for me. I don't know how I can ever thank you." Her eyes sparkled, happy to have such companionship in him. She knew that she might be dead at this point if it hadn't have been for his kindness. A true calmness was in her heart, and she wanted to thank him somehow - she just didn't know how. She made a mental note that she would have to ask Thurilostel what might be a good idea as a thank you gift for Dúlinnor. She wasn't even sure that a gift was proper, but she couldn't think of anything else.

It was then that she realized what she had just done - hugged an unsuspecting elf - and she blushed, turning her head down slightly. "I--I'm sorry..." she breathed out, immediately embarrassed at her actions. "I... I didn't mean..." Her voice trailed off, as she looked up at him.

Dúlinnor watched Reinette as she quickly became happy at his suggestion. "Of course! I would love to spend some time with Thurilostel! She's so kind!" She said, clearly excited about the thought. "I shall let Aglaron know so that he may tell Thurilostel." He said, smiling. The Elf noted that the girl moving suddenly. Within a short moment she'd pulled him into a hug. Dúlinnor returned the hug gladly, enjoying the feel of their closeness. However, the moment did not last very long. He was forced to allow her to move, his arms releasing her. He tilted his head in question. He was quite unsure why she was hugging him though did not mind it.

He did not have to wait long before the young woman was speaking. "You've done so much for me. I don't know how I can ever thank you." Dúlinnor simply watched Reinette for a moment, trying to decide how best to reply to her. However it seemed that Reinette was suddenly..embarrassed, if he had to guess. The Elf watched her as her cheeks soon became reddened and she turned her head down a bit. "I--I'm sorry...I... I didn't mean..."

Dúlinnor felt a soft smile moving to his face. He continued eyeing her until she finally looked at him. The Elf moved a bit closer to Reinette so that she would have to look up at him, slowly. "You've no need to apologize to me, my friend. I do not mind." He said softly. He suddenly lifted his left hand, moving to gently brushing some of her long hair back into place. "And I've no need for thanks. That is not why I've helped you."

He moved from her suddenly, his father's words suddenly echoing within his mind. 'She will cause you nothing but sorrow and death should you continue down this path.' He knew exactly what the older Elf had been speaking of. Yet, Dúlinnor found himself curious about the strange feelings that he had for this young woman. He knew that he enjoyed her company and that he'd felt..something when she'd hugged him. He tried to push the thoughts from him, shaking his head slightly.

"Perhaps if you are not too tired you would allow me to show you something?" He asked suddenly, turning to her once again. He would not worry. He would simply act as he had been. His father's words would not sway how he was with Reinette. He smiled at her before speaking again. "Follow me."

It was then that he began leading the way through the home, in the opposite direction than the bedroom that he'd shown Reinette earlier. They passed by a few doors until they came to a wooden ladder that led above them. Dúlinnor went up first, soon coming to the roof of the flet. It was rather flat and so he crouched down, helping Reinette to the top. He released only once he was sure that her footing was sound. He moved from her side slowly, walking around to nearly the other side.

From the spot that he stopped at, one could see through the Golden Woods quite far, even without having the sight of an Elf. In the evening light, the glowing of the other homes was a beautiful sight. Only once the woman was near him again did he suddenly speak. "There is much that my kind holds dear. Within this Realm, our greatest treasure is the bond we share with the woods that we live alongside."

He turned his gaze to Reinette, eyeing her calmly before suddenly taking a seat, relaxing. "We can hear the forest with our.." He suddenly paused, having to think of the correct word for what he was wishing to convey to her. "Spirits. It is how we can communicate with them as well. This works throughout Middle Earth's forestry. Though we walk in the light, we also rather enjoy the night." Dúlinnor paused, watching Reinette again, smiling.

If he was honest, he rather enjoyed sharing things with her. Slowly, he moved until he was laying on his back. He suddenly point upwards towards the sky. "The stars sing above us. I doubt that you can hear them..but they are pleased with your arrival in Lothlórien."

The stars above them were seeable even through the tree tops. The shone and sparkled as if nothing could ever outshine them. Dúlinnor had folded his arms behind his head to act as a cushion. It was relaxing, simply laying there and looking up into the bright sky. "I would like to think that this is a good sign. They do not sing so for just anyone. You should be honored." He turned his head, gazing at Reinette, watching for her reaction.

After a few moments, he continued. "Do not lose hope. If Lady Galadriel says that she can find a way for you to return to your world, she will. However, patience will be your best friend I'm afraid." He went silent long enough for Reinette to take in his words. "However, if I may say so, I do believe that you are lucky. Not many can say that they have had the fortune of crossing one of the best archers of the Galadhrim Warriors and lived to speak of the encounter." He was suddenly smiling again as he joked with her. He knew that he should probably take her back in but he was still enjoying their time together. Dúlinnor allowed Reinette time to speak, happy to listen to her speak. Her accent was one that he'd never crossed before and he found that he enjoyed it. He suddenly grew a bit more serious. "I must admit that being able to relax for the next few months is something that I looked forward to. Aglaron and I were gone for many months this time. Normally our time away from the city is not so long."

You've no need to apologize to me, my friend. I do not mind. And I've no need for thanks. That is not why I've helped you."

Dúlinnor's face was smiling softly, and Reinette had turned her eyes up to him after a moment, the redness on her face still apparent. Why had she done that? She didn't quite know, but Dúlinnor's smile and words reassuring that he didn't mind. He had stepped closer to her while he spoke, and her amber eyes locked with his own gray ones.

His hand came up and brushed some of her hair from her face; her heart felt like it had stopped in her chest in that moment. Everything around her seemed to slow and dull, except for the two of them. But just as he was brushing her hair away with his finger, he was stepping away from her and Reinette felt like something had been taken from her then.

Her breath seemed to return to her, as well as her senses and her heartbeat. She felt like she had forgotten to breath, and she tried to calm herself as best as she could without Dúlinnor noticing how she had been effected.

'What was that?' she thought to herself, unable to tear her eyes from the Elf.

He turned around, catching her gaze again. "Perhaps if you are not too tired you would allow me to show you something?" She nodded, following him at his request.

They walked through his home, soon coming to a ladder that Reinette assumed lead to the roof. Dúlinnor climbed up, Reinette following behind him, making sure not to slip in her dress on the ladder. Soon, she reached the top, taking Dúlinnor's hand as he offered it to her for help. She gazed around her, and saw that Dúlinnor had moved to the other side of the roof, and she carefully followed him there. Her heart was a little quick, realizing how high up they were. She quickly moved to catch up to Dúlinnor, taking hold of his arm to steady herself and remind herself that she wouldn't just fall off.

"There is much that my kind holds dear. Within this Realm, our greatest treasure if the bond we share with the woods that we live alongside." Reinette looked up to where he was looking, and she felt the breath sucked from her at the beauty. She felt like she had been kicked in the chest... but weirdly enough, this time, it was a good feeling. A good sort of loss of breath.

Such beauty... she simply couldn't imagine it. Calm in it's essence, and yet here it was - staring her in the face.

She didn't realize that she had left go of his arm until she realized he was sitting. "We can hear the forest with out..." There was a pause. "...Spirits. It is how we can communicate with them as well. This works throughout Middle Earth's forestry. Though we walk in the light, we also rather enjoy the night."

Reinette still stood, gazing out across the city. There was something that settled in her heart at the sight of it. She felt like this was something she was always supposed to see, like she had been waiting her whole life for that moment. It was awe-inspiring.

Finally, she turned her eyes to see Dúlinnor smiling up at her. Taking one last glance from her position, she sat down next to him as he lay down on his back. She leaned back on her elbows, staring up at the sky with him. Out of her peripheral, she saw his hand point toward the sky as he spoke.

"The stars sing above us. I doubt that you can hear them... but they are pleased with your arrival in Lothlórien." She turned her head so she could see him as he spoke, his hands under his head in a relaxing manner. "I would like to think that this is a good sign. They do not sing so just for anyone. You should be honored."

She wasn't really sure what she was supposed to say. "I... I can't hear them." Her own voice sounded sort of sad to her. She'd never really thought about stars singing before, but Dúlinnor seemed to listen to them and she wished she could hear what he could. For all she knew he could have been pulling her leg, but he seemed to be honest about it - Elves obviously were more in tune with their world around them. So why wouldn't he be able to hear stars sing?

She did feel sort of honored though, especially if what he said was true. "You know, back on my planet, trees and people don't talk with one another." She had layed herself down, much in the same state that Dúlinnor was in. Her eyes were staring up through the tree canopy at the stars, taking in the way the leaves seemed to sway and reveal the twinkle above them. "People just cut them down and make useless things out of them, sometimes." It made her feel sort of bitter now that she thought about it. Everything here seemed to be working just fine without all the necessities she had thought she needed. She knew she was missing some of those life luxuries, but the calmness she felt around her was making up for it in leaps and bounds.

Dúlinnor's voice spoke again, and she turned her head to look at the male laying next to her. "Do not lose hope. If Lady Galadriel says that she can find a way for you to return to your world, she will. However, patience will be your best friend I'm afraid." Reinette nodded, but couldn't help the thought that crossed her mind. What if she didn't get to go home? 'What is there to go home to anyway?'

"However, if I may say so, I do believe that you are luck. Not many can say that they have had the fortune of crossing one of the best archers of the Galadhrim Warriors and lived to speak of the encounter." Reinette almost snorted at what he said, a laugh breaking out of her throat. She sat up, shooting him a happy smile but a look that said 'really?' as well.

"Oh, and I suppose you're the that Galadhrim Warrior, then?" She laughed again, her body shaking with the movement. "How do you know that I'm not a better archer than you? Maybe I'm secretly the best archer in the world and I've been pulling the wool over your eyes this whole time!" She smiled at him, clearly indicating that she was joking around with him.

She let out a happy sigh, grateful for the reprieve from her former thoughts. She just wasn't going to think about it much until it came time for her to - too much pain was associated with her home. Too much death.

"I must admit that being able to relax for the next few months is something that I look forward to. Aglaron and I were gone for many months this time. Normally our time away from the city is not so long." Reinette looked over at the male, who had seemed to take on a much more serious air.

She pulled her knees up, tucking her arms around her calves and resting her head on her knees. Staring out across the city before them, she thought about what he had said for a moment. "Maybe," she began, but paused, second guessing what she was about to say. But eventually, she spoke anyway. "Maybe... the reason that you were gone so long, something abnormal for you, is that you were supposed to find me. Maybe this was always supposed to happen..." It sounded weird to her now that she'd given the words life, but she didn't retract her statement, instead continuing to stare out across the expanse before them.

Turning her head to look at Dúlinnor, she offered him a smile. The admittance of what she thought hit her in the gut slightly hard - if, in fact, this was always supposed to happen, then maybe her life was always supposed to take the gruesome turn that it had. Maybe there was no way to avoid--

She cut her own thoughts off before they could continue. She didn't want to go down that road, and ruin this beautiful night that she and Dúlinnor were sharing.

Dúlinnor noted Reinette's movement as she was soon sitting with her chin upon her knees. The Elf remained where he was, simply happy to be looking up at the stars and listening to the world around them. A few moments passed before the woman at his side spoke. "Maybe," However, Reinette went silent again and Dúlinnor turned his head towards her, watching curiously. He did not rush her. She would speak when she was ready. "Maybe... the reason that you were gone so long, something abnormal for you, is that you were supposed to find me. Maybe this was always supposed to happen..."

The Elf remained silent, thinking over her words. She had a point. Reinette was smiling at him and Dúlinnor returned the gesture. It seemed to him that she was in thought about something. The Elf moved, sitting up again. He and Reinette were rather close though he payed little attention to it. His gaze was suddenly glued to her, as if watching her to make sure that nothing was wrong. "So you believe that we were destined to meet?" He asked suddenly, serious.

He was silent for a long moment as he watched her. "Perhaps." He decided at last, a small smile on his face. "It is a nice thought, I think. If that is the case then I shall have to make sure that you are well taken care of. I would not wish to disappoint the Valar." He offered her a bright smile. He was not sure what had brought them together but he did know that he fully intended upon helping her until she sent him from her.

Dúlinnor gently placed a hand upon Reinette's shoulder. "I will be here for as long as you have need of me.." He said before slowly rising to stand. He turned towards the woman, looking down at her. "It is getting late and you need to rest. Tomorrow, I am yours. You've but to ask it and we shall do whatever it is that you wish." It would be one of the few days that he would be completely free. After that, Reinette would likely be spending much time with Thurilostel. Of course, the female Elf always tended to show up wherever the brothers were. Dúlinnor suspected that the female liked trying to distract her husband.

He offered to help Reinette up, pulling her gently and then slowly sliding a arm about her waist to steady her. He moved slowly then, leading the way back to the ladder. Dúlinnor helped Reinette down first and then followed her easily. Before reaching the floor, the Elf reached up and closed the hatch that was normally left open. They were due for rain any day now and he didn't want the home flooded.

The Elf then reached the floor, turning to the woman. "My room is that door over there." He said, pointing to one of the doors. The only thing that held it out above the rest was the beautiful swirled design that near the top. "If you've need of me before I awaken, you may find me there." He went silent for a moment, hesitating. His gaze was still locked onto the woman. Slowly, he pulled her to him. His arms wrapped her into a hug. The moment they were so close, Dúlinnor could feel an odd sensation within his heart. He could not place it though he enjoyed their closeness.

He pulled back after a moment, smiling down at her. One of his hands made its way to Reinette's shoulder. Only, this time it was different..almost familiar like. "I am glad to have met you. Regardless of the circumstances. You have brought a light into this world that I long since thought gone." He went silent, allowing her to speak if she wished. Only once she was finished did he continue. "I bid you a good night, Lady Reinette." He bowed his head to her and then moved from her. He opened the door to his room, and entered it..only then shutting the door behind him.

He was unsure why he'd said such a thing to her. It was not like him. They'd not known each other very long and yet Dúlinnor felt unusually connected to her. It was not something he'd ever felt with any other being. Yet, he did not allow himself to dwell on it. As he moved within his room, Dúlinnor decided to get a bath before laying down. This did not take him long and before he knew it he was laying down in his bed, covered.

It felt nice to be in his own bed, not the usual cots that was used when he was on duty, out at the borders. He was laying upon his back, his thoughts drifting to the day's events. He'd meant everything he'd said to her that day. He truly hoped that though she could not leave..she could at least enjoy what was surrounding her. It was with these thoughts that Dúlinnor slowly drifted off, his eyes glazing over as sleep engulfed him.

The following morning Dúlinnor awoke a bit later than he normally did. However, he remained in the bed for a few moments longer. He finally rose, moving about his room. He dressed in a outfit that was similar to his Warden's uniform though was different in color. Dark greens and browns made it up. He then brushed his hair out, making sure that it was straight and looked presentable. Only then did he began working with it, doing it up in the braids that he normally kept in his hair.

Once he was ready Dúlinnor left his room and slowly made his way though the home. He wondered if Reinette was up yet though he imagined that she would come looking for him once she was. He soon found his way to the kitchen and began preparing the two of them something for breakfast.

He began sitting out two plates and two cups, then moving to finish setting the rest of the medium sized table. He then returned to the food he'd been preparing. Most of the meal, as was normal for Elves, was fruit and vegetables though he also decided to fix a small amount of meat(deer, if he recalled correctly).

Dúlinnor, once everything was ready, began placing food upon the plates and then filled the glasses with water. He did not see a reason for anything stronger at the moment though he could fix some juice if she wanted it. It would be a nice start to the day, or so he hoped. Reinette had at lest seemed to like his mother's cooking and the Elf had taught both of her sons in the kitchen. She'd said that they needed to know how to feed themselves. Dúlinnor was glad of this and he hoped that the woman would enjoy the meal.

"So you believe that we were destined to meet?" Dúlinnor's voice cut into the night suddenly. Reinette hadn't realized how close he had gotten to her, and she felt the tinge of red on her cheeks again.

He was silent for a long moment, and Reinette managed to make out, "Well, why not?" Though her voice was almost a whisper. After a long moment, he spoke once more.

"Perhaps. It is a nice thought, I think. If that is the case then I shall have to make sure that you are well taken care of. I would not wish to disappoint the Valar." Reinette felt her whole body warm at the sight of his smile, and it left a happy feeling in her stomach.

If there was one certain thing in this world, it was Dúlinnor. She trusted him, though she had only known him for a short while. He'd already proven that he cared - practically fighting with his father over her even being there. She knew that he kept her best intentions in the front of his mind.

"I will be here for as long as you have need of me..." His hand on her shoulder was a comfort, and her eye followed him as he stood. "It is getting late and you need to rest. Tomorrow, I am yours. You've but to ask it and we shall do whatever it is that you wish."

Reinette nodded, taking his hand, thankful for the aid in standing. She had forgotten how high up they both were, and the feeling of that height was starting to sink into her. Dúlinnor guided the both of them, his hand resting on her waist once more.

Reinette couldn't put her finger on it, but something about it felt different than it had when he was helping her cross the bridge before. It hadn't been too long before, and yet it felt as if a lifetime had passed for her.

She didn't realize how tired she actually was until Dúlinnor had mentioned it.

Once they were inside, Reinette could truly feel the ache in her body - why she hadn't realized her exhaustion before, she didn't know. But she was thankful to be heading off to bed. "My room is that door over there. If you've need of me before I awaken, you may find me there." Reinette smiled at him, thankful for the invitation to bother him in the middle of the night - she, of course, didn't intend on ever doing such a thing, but it was nice to know that he would be mildly okay with it if she did.

It was then that she felt his arms around her, pulling her in for a hug. He seemed to envelope her, his scent overtaking her senses. Fir tree, or at least something that smelled like Evergreens, and some flower that she couldn't quite place. His scent was calming, oddly familiar.

She felt so safe. So entirely safe... Her eyes fluttered shut, her brain not fully analyzing their situation, simply happy for the touch. But it was over a lot sooner than she had hoped for, and she felt her body aching for his touch again, pulling toward him, though she resisted. The desire to be near him again frightened her slightly - she had no idea where it had come from.

His hand was on her shoulder, soft and yet strong all at the same time. "I am glad to have met you. Regardless of the circumstances. You have brought a light into this world that I long since thought gone."

Reinette smiled, her eyes meeting his. His gray ones held her own steady as she spoke. "I'm glad that you think so. I don't really understand how any one person can change things so much, though. I'm just me. Just Reinette..." Her smile was small, but still happy.

"I bid you a good night, Lady Reinette." He bowed, moving toward his room. She wasn't keen on the 'Lady' part, but she let him be. It was a custom for them... All she wanted was that he call her Reinette.

She turned from him then as well, turning her head once to watch him enter his room. Turning back, she made for her bedroom, opening and shutting the door once she had entered.

It wasn't long before she had stripped down to nothing but panties and what the elves used as bras - more like a tighter cloth wrap, something akin to a bandeau. She placed the beautiful dress in with the others, in a dressing trunk at the foot of the bed. She was surprised at the sheer amount of clothes.

Within was a night gown, and she pulled it out. Slipping into the silken material, she couldn't help but feel absolutely ready for bed. Crawling underneath the covers, she quickly fell into a dreamless sleep.

~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~

Reinette had woken relatively early, when the rays from the morning sun shone through the window and cast a glare on her face. She couldn't bring herself to go back to bed, so she crawled out of bed, turning down the covers, and made her way over to the desk within the room.

It was simple; nothing special. But it was a perfect writing place for Reinette, and she got to work jotting down thoughts and notes about the happenings from the night before. She wrote about Dúlinnor, about Aglaron and Thurilostel. About the smells and the sounds. Her feelings.

At the end, she jotted a few lines from a song she had loved when it played on the radio. Something from before. Something to remind her of earth.

You're not alone in anything.
You're not alone in trying to be.

She blew on the page for a moment, until the ink dried. She closed the journal, tucking the pen on top of the leather bound book, before moving it to the back corner of the desk.

She could smell food cooking in the kitchen, and new that Dúlinnor must be up. Her stomach grumbled, and she made sure to quickly dress herself.

A more simple dress than before was what she chose, a very light green color with black embroidery work. There was a black corset that came with the dress, and she pondered putting the thing on, deciding she couldn't do it on her own.

Slipping into the corset, she laced it up lightly, holding it against her frame so it wouldn't move as she exited the room. She followed her nose to the kitchen and saw a well set table and Dúlinnor busying himself finishing the preparation of their breakfast.

"Goodmorning," she began, pausing in the doorway. She had moved the entire volume of her long white-blonde hair over her left shoulder, leaving the back part of the corset exposed so it could easily be accessed to lace it without tugging on her hair in the process.

"I hope this isn't indecent to ask of you, but... um..." Her face was sheepish. "Could you help me? I don't know how to do this on my own." She turned slightly so he could see the back of the corset, which hung loose on her frame. She figured it wasn't entirely indecent - she was wearing a dress under it. But she didn't know how inappropriate it was to ask a male to help her dress.

She figured she had no choice since there weren't any other females in the home.

After the corset had been taken care of, she happily took a seat at the table, looking around at the food before her. She was pretty sure she recognized the vast majority of it - some of it had been presented for dinner the night before. "Is this a typical meal?" she asked, gazing around at the food. "It smells delicious." She shifted slightly in the chair, attempting to get used to the feeling of wearing a corset and sitting.

She figured there was a lot she would eventually get used to about Middle Earth. Hopefully sooner than later.

Dúlinnor heard Reinette's footsteps much sooner than she arrived in the kitchen. When she arrived, the girl spoke. Goodmorning." The Elf smiled at her voice, turning to look at her. "Good morning." He said softly. However, he said nothing more as he watched the young woman. She'd stopped at the doorway. He took her in, noting the loose fitting corset that she was clinging to her form. "I hope this isn't indecent to ask of you, but... um...Could you help me? I don't know how to do this on my own."

Reinette turned, allowing Dúlinnor to see the back of her corset. In truth, he should not do as she asked. However, she was clothed beneath and so it was truly not too bad. And..they were alone and so there was little reason to worry. "Of course I'll help you." He said, moving from the spot he'd been in the past few moments. The Elf easily made his way to Reinette in a few short strides. He was behind her, gently moving a few strands of hair out of the way that had fallen to lay upon her back.

He then set to work on the corset. Dúlinnor began lacing the corset a bit tighter. He moved slowly though easily fixing the ribbons with ease. He made sure to check with her every now and then, making sure that it was not too tight. It did not take long before he'd finished. "There. You are done." He said, smiling. The young woman then took a seat at the table, gazing about. Dúlinnor followed her shortly, sitting at the other place setting.

"Is this a typical meal?" she asked, Dúlinnor. " He turned his gaze to her at her question. "Yes. On a day to day basis, this is about as much as we do." He said, watching her. "It smells delicious." Reinette said, causing the Elf to speak once again. "I am glad that you think so. I do not often fix meals for others and I am afraid that most typically I am in a hurry."

He then began eating, slowly, enjoying the fresh food. Any time that he and Aglaron were at the Borders Thurilostel often made sure that Dúlinnor would return to a fresh supply of foods. She was far too kind to him. He would have to remember to thank her. Now, depending on how long Reinette remained with them, he hoped that his sister could help the Human girl slowly begin to be able to get about without aid.

He knew that it would take time yet he knew that it was likely frustrating to her to be so different from those around her. He'd been to a few of the Human settlements within the world with his father a long time ago. Even now he could recall the stares and whispers that began the moment they'd arrived. He could honestly say that he did not care for it.

As the meal went on, Dúlinnor spoke to Reinette about their day ahead. He'd been honest about doing whatever she wished. He looked forward to spending the day with her. As the thought crossed his mind, Dúlinnor paused for a moment, thinking over it. He was not one to simply wish to spend time with females. He found most of them petty or vain. Not Reinette though. She was different from most that he knew.

As he finished eating, Dúlinnor rose and then began clearing the table. He did not move until he was certain that his guest was finished as well. He opted for going ahead and cleaning up after them. He did not want to have to wait until later to do so. "So, my friend, hopefully the meal was not terrible." He was smiling, joking with her. "Now, we should get going."

The day had gone by much faster than the Elf would have thought possible. He'd enjoyed himself immensely. They'd returned after their day together and Dúlinnor had prepared an evening meal for them. It was similar to their earlier meal but just as delicious. They'd then spent much of the evening together, simply enjoying each other's company. It was only as he'd noted her tiredness that he'd parted ways with her. He did not tire as quickly as she did though opted for turning in as well.

The following morning began as the one before. Save for that Dúlinnor was up quite early. He readied, wearing his uniform this time. He was to meet Aglaron and Thurilostel near the market after the morning meal. Dúlinnor planned on leaving the young girl with the female Elf. Thurilostel would no doubt keep the girl busy until the two brothers were done for the day.

He'd fixed a meal once again, patiently waiting on Reinette. It amazed him at how easy it seemed that he fell into a normal routine with her. He found that he rather enjoyed it. He was in high spirits that morning and was certain that it showed. When the meal ended, he spoke. "We need to leave or we'll be late meeting Aglaron and Thurilostel."

He led the way from the kitchen to the living room and then out into the openness of the woods. He was glad that it would not take them long to reach their destination. "Thurilostel will be keeping you company until we are finished for the day. I do hope that you can bare to part with me for a short time." He was suddenly laughing as he joked with her.

Dúlinnor led the way and quite soon he spotted the couple waiting on them. "It is about time, little brother." Aglaron said, eyeing the younger Elf. "I doubt that you've been waiting that long." Dúlinnor replied, shaking his head. As they came to a stop at the older Elves, Dúlinnor turned to Reinette, gazing down at her. "We will likely be kept until near the evening meal. My brother likes to make sure that everyone sees him. But, I shall see you later."

He bowed his head to her and Thurilostel, turning then, to walk with his brother. "Don't bring the Mortal to the training grounds. She will only distract those trying to improve." Aglaron said to Thurilostel. The woman simply shook her head, turning to Reinette. She fully intended upon them stopping by to watch the two brothers. She somehow doubted that Reinette had ever seen Elves fighting. It was a sight to behold.

Together, Dúlinnor and Aglaron made their way towards the training grounds. It was a rather large area that was always busy. New recruits and old alike trained here together, to hone their skills or simply to keep on the top of their game. Weapons and targets were placed strategically across the grounds and there were even a few benches where spectators could watch. It had been some time since they'd been there but it would be a nice change.

"I am glad that you think so. I do not often fix meals for others and I am afraid that most typically I am in a hurry." Reinette smiled, though she understood. There were many times when she had simply neglected breakfast before she went to her classes.

"Well, I still think it smells delicious." She was excited to eat, not only because she was hungry, but because Dúlinnor had made the food for her.

Dúlinnor began to eat, so Reinette figured it was okay to start as well. She took some of the fruits and vegetables, as well as some of the meat, happy to have such fresh and well-prepared food. It was similar to the food she had eaten the night before in taste, but it had a little... something all it's own that was different.

The two of them conversed throughout breakfast about what they would do for the day. She decided that she wanted to see more of the city, just go for a stroll, check out the markets maybe. After the meal ended, Dúlinnor kindly cleaned away the dishes. He made a joke about the meal, for which she insisted upon him that it was in fact rather delicious. And then they were off.

The pair ate dinner together much as they had breakfast. They spoke of their day, as well as whatever else came to their minds. Reinette was absolutely taken with Dúlinnor as a cook, and complimented him on his abilities in the kitchen whenever she got the chance.

Her mind turned about, and she wondered if she might learn to work with the foods as he did. Sure, she could cook. But the ingredients were different - she doubted it would be terribly hard to figure it all out, but she'd prefer having some assistance.

'Maybe Thurilostel could teach me...' she thought, eager at the chance to be able to make something for Dúlinnor as a change, as a way to show him her thanks in any way she could.

After dinner had ended, they spent time together talking, and the calm sound of his voice had her slipping into a haze between awake and asleep. As she sagged slightly against his shoulder as they sat next to one another chatting, Dúlinnor suggested that it might be time to turn in for the night. Wearily, Reinette agreed.

She was out like a light as soon as her head hit the pillow.

The next morning, Reinette chose a dress that had a built in corset, as to avoid asking for help again. She was quick to write in her journal, before making her way to have breakfast with Dúlinnor. Walking into the room, she noticed he was wearing what she assumed was his uniform - it was a lot more pristine than what he wore around normally, a lot more stark. She vaguely remembered it from when he had found her.

"You look nice," she had said to him when she joined him. Her own dress was a red color, like wine or burgundy.

They soon finished eating, and afterward Dúlinnor reminded her of their meeting with Aglaron and Thurilostel. Reinette nodded, and helped him clean up the dishes this time, insisting that she ought to help out if she was going to make them dirty in the first place.

They made their way outside, as Dúlinnor spoke. "Thurilostel will be keeping you company until we are finished for the day. I do hope that you can bare to part with me for a short time." He laughed at what he said, and Reinette couldn't help but join in.

"I don't know how ever I will bare to be away from you for such a time!" Reinette dramatically tossed her arm against her forehead in feigned horror, her voice rather sarcastic. She giggled, glad to be able to joke around.

Soon, Reinette spotted both Aglaron and Thurilostel. The female Elf seemed rather excited to see the girl, and welcomed her to stand with her instantly.

Dúlinnor turned to look at her, the angle that he had to tilt his head in only emphasizing their height difference. "We will likely be kept until near the evening meal. My brother likes to make sure that everyone sees him. But, I shall see you later." She nodded, offering a smile to both Dúlinnor and Aglaron. "I'll see you tonight then," she said, before taking her leave from the two with Thurilostel - though not until after Aglaron said something to his wife.

Her eyes were slightly mischievous, though she nodded anyway.

The two women began to walk together, Thurilostel still had that mischievous look in her eyes. "Aglaron said not... to visit while they trained." Reinette nodded, but didn't say anything, instead letting the Elven woman finish her thought.

"We will visit later anyway."

Reinette laughed, thoroughly pleased. "Really? Even though he said not to?" Thurilostel nodded. "Well, okay then!"

The two girls walked together towards the market, Reinette fully intending to buy a few necessities. Dúlinnor had been kind enough to give her a few coins, which he'd explained to her the night before - their value, what you might be able to buy for certain prices - but assured her that if she couldn't get something then, then she could get it later.

Together, Aglaron and Dúlinnor walked the well known path to the training grounds. They passed many Elves as the city was beginning to truly awaken. The sounds that filled the air were light and joyous. A sign of a good day. As they walked, the brothers spoke quietly with one another. Aglaron seemed to be rather curious about Reinette..now that he'd realized that his wife was taken with the young girl. He suspected that he'd be seeing quite a bit more of her..especially since his brother seemed intent upon keeping her around.

"I have heard that the girl spent much of the day yesterday within the city. Sightseeing?" Aglaron asked suddenly. Dúlinnor nodded. He'd rather enjoyed their day together and he'd said as much to her the day before. "Yes. I believe that since the Lady Galadriel is unsure of how long it will take her to find a way to send Lady Reinette back to her world that it is best to show her as much as possible." He explained to the older Elf.

Aglaron simply nodded, as if agreeing with the reasoning behind his brother's actions. "Perhaps I was a bit hasty in my opinions of her. Thurilostel seems to be taken with her and she is a good judge of character. Perhaps..I should give her a chance." Aglaron's words caused Dúlinnor to look to the older Elf. It was not like his brother to change his mind so. It normally took Aglaron a long time to change regarding anything. So, then, why now would he do so? Perhaps Thurilostel had said something to him?

Regardless, Dúlinnor did not say anything regarding the change. "I am certain that Lady Reinette will be most pleased.." Dúlinnor was quickly interrupted by Aglaron. "You will not tell her. Allow her to keep thinking what she will of me. I would have her realize this on her own. It will be for the best." Dúlinnor would do as his brother wished. He would say nothing to the young girl on this matter.

It seemed to take forever for them to reach their destination. When they arrived, there were already quite a few Elves already training or being instructed. The brothers made their way onto the open field. "I was thinking that we could practice with a few of the others and then perhaps before we leave we could spar? It has been some time since we've faced each other." Aglaron said, smirking at the younger Elf.

Dúlinnor agreed, heading off to where the training weapons were. There were several different ones, their sharpnesses all ranging from extremely dull to sharp enough to cut through flesh. Depending on one's level of expertise decided on what weapon they used. Aglaron and Dúlinnor had been a part of the Wardens for some time. As such, they took up the swords that were quite sharp.

Once they were armed, they made their way over to a small group of Elves that they were friendly with. They were not normally on patrol together and so found this time as good a time as any to spend some time together. For a few long minutes, the group simply spoke with one another, making idle chat. Haldir was not there and so they were able to be a bit more lax than they normally would be.

The day went by rather quickly. The brothers spent most of it practicing where they were in need of it. Now, the day was slowly beginning to wind down, it was late afternoon. They parted ways with the group and Aglaron turned to his brother. "Perhaps now we can spar?" Dúlinnor nodded in agreement. There were a few people out watching, mainly the women. They wished to either see loved ones or were trying to catch the eye of one of the Wardens.

Dúlinnor allowed his gaze to float about the area for a short moment before Aglaron raised his sword slightly in challenge. The younger Elf returned the gesture, accepting. They moved slightly further apart, facing each other. A few seconds passed before Aglaron lunged at Dúlinnor. The younger Elf quickly reacted, sidestepping so that his brother's sharp sword would not connect. Dúlinnor turned quickly returning the attack.

They went on like this for some time before Aglaron put a bit of distance between them, glancing to the bench that was closest to them. Sudden frustration crossed his features. "Thurilostel, I thought you were not supposed to come by today?" He called out to his wife, causing Dúlinnor to glance in the same direction. There, he spotted Thurilostel and Reinette. He should have known that they would come by.

He was quick to tear his gaze from them as Aglaron suddenly attacked with ferocity. Something that he did not do unless frustrated. Dúlinnor was as skilled as any other Elf in the art of swordsmanship. However, his brother was a master of the art. Their swords suddenly clashed, Aglaron trying to push Dúlinnor back. However, the younger Elf was pushing back just as much. A few long moments passed before Aglaron suddenly faked to the side and then quickly moved the sword towards Dúlinnor's face.

The youngest reacted, barely causing the sword to miss its intended mark. It did, however, meet with the flesh of his neck. Dúlinnor paid no attention to the small wound that was now bleeding a bit. He moved, Aglaron not paying as much attention now that he assumed his brother would give up. Dúlinnor swung out towards his brother and the older Elf was barely able to block the strike.

They remained unmoving for a few seconds, simply eyeing each other. The slight burning in his neck was annoying and was causing him to become distracted. The moment passed and suddenly Aglaron had knocked Dúlinnor down hard onto his back. The younger Elf had lost his sword and wasn't entirely sure what had just happened. He looked up at his brother, watching as he was bringing his sword down rather quickly. Dúlinnor rolled to the side, the sword barely missing him. He took no time to react, kicking out and causing Aglaron to fall to the ground. His brother could not stand loosing and the match would have very likely continued on for a long time if one of the other Wardens had not called out in Elvish that it was a tie.

The two male Elves rose from the ground and Dúlinnor dusted himself off. Other than the wound on his neck he'd only received what would be bruises by the following morning. Nothing too terrible. Aglaron had received no cuts though was already beginning to bruise in a few areas. "That was a first. I actually think you've improved, little brother." Aglaron said smiling.

Dúlinnor did not agree though if Aglaron thought it was true then there was no reason to argue with him. The weapons were picked up by one of the recruits and so they did not need to worry about them. It was only when they'd bid a few of the others a good evening did they make their way over to the women. Dúlinnor turned his attention immediately to Reinette, offering her a smile. "I do hope your day apart from me was not too terrible." He said, laughing slightly. He was happy to see her. Though they'd stayed busy all day, he had to admit that he'd missed her.

He was still paying no attention to the slight pain that was on his neck. He suspected that he would need to take care of it soon enough. He didn't need it becoming infected. Thurilostel had seemed to take notice of it and began pestering Dúlinnor about it. He simply waved her off. "I will take care of it shortly. You worry far too much, Thuri."

His gaze found its way back to Reinette. "I do not know about you..but I am starved." He said and Aglaron seemed to understand what was being said. He simply smiled shaking his head at the young Elf. "We shall leave you, brother. I was wanting to take my wife to one of the shops to finish up shopping for our child. They will be here soon enough and we've yet to finish the nursery." Aglaron said.

Dúlinnor nodded, watching as goodbyes were said before the older pair parted ways with them. Only then did Dúlinnor offer Reinette his arm. "Come. I am more than ready to return to the flet." He began leading the way, glancing at the woman from time to time as they walked. "Did you do any shopping?" He asked her, curious. He knew that she'd been with his sister and had most likely done shopping of some sort. He was simply curious. He knew that Thurilostel tended to spend exuberant amounts anytime that she went and so Aglaron rarely let her go without checking to see how much coin she had with her. However, Dúlinnor was the opposite. As long as Reinette was happy, then he was as well.

Reinette and Thurilostel had spent a decent amount of time in the shops before Reinette had gathered the nerve to ask her about a few things that only concerned women. The Elven woman had seemed relatively confused when Reinette had first asked - it seemed like something important to bring up before it was necessary, rather than when it was... too late.

"Uh, Lady Thurilostel..." She had begun, and the Elven woman had turned to see a faint blush on Reinette's cheeks. She had raised an eye brow at the state of Reinette's features, absolutely curious as to what could possibly be making the Mortal woman turn that shade of pink.

"I figured maybe it was better to ask you instead of Dúlinnor, but..." She paused. How on earth did someone breach this question in this world? Was it taboo to talk about such things? Reinette remembered the feeling she'd had a young girl asking her mother about such things... The same feeling was in her stomach again.

Might as well get it the hell over with...

She bit her lip slightly, before opening her mouth. "What do I do when that... time of the month comes about?" Thurilostel looked thoroughly confused.

'Great...' thought Reinette. Now that she thought about it, she didn't even know if Elves menstruated like humans did. If she didn't know what Reinette was talking about, the girl thought it would embarrass her to the point of death to have to fully explain herself.

She dug her teeth a little harder into her lip. "Um... Period? Menstruation?" Thurilostel still looked as if she did not fully understand.

Leaning in, she cupped her hand to whisper into the Elven woman's ear exactly what she meant. Her face got redder as she did so, and Thurilostel's eyes grew slightly. Stepping back after, Reinette felt as if she could die. When Thurilostel saw the look on the poor woman's face, she couldn't help but laugh.

The sound of the Elven woman's laughter actually helped to ease her nerves a bit. "Oh, Lady Reinette. Why didn't you just say?" She was teasing, of course, but Reinette didn't really pick up on it.

"That's not really something you just talk about in good company! In public!" She whispered, her voice slightly frantic.

Thurilostel wrapped her arm around the younger woman's shoulder softly, guiding her toward a far place in the market, all the wile reassuring the woman that it was okay, and that she understood.

They arrived to a tent that the two stepped into, which seemed to sell medicinal items. Thurilostel picked out some herbs and various other things that Reinette didn't truly know what they were for, before speaking in a hushed tone to the Elven woman who ran the shop. The woman took some containers out from underneath a shelf, glancing at the Mortal woman, before handing Thurilostel a bundle of some cut cloth.

Reinette offered the coin to pay for the items once all was said and done. Thurilostel tucked them discreetly into a pouch that she had brought with her to carry any items that they had bought, though not before explaining the herbs intended uses. "This one," she spoke of a green leaf with pink veins running through it. "Is for reduction..." Reinette nodded, understanding what she meant. "Please tear one leaf, and place it in the bath before you wash." She showed the Mortal woman the other - a flaky leafy plant that was a blueish-green in color. "This one, please roll a small piece between your fingers, and..." She paused, looking for her words. "...and place under the tongue."

Upon exiting the shop, Reinette thanked her immensely for not only the explanations but for even coming with her in the first place. She knew for a fact that she would have never been able to figure it all out on her own.

"Please, do not hesitate... in the future to ask me questions." Reinette nodded at the Elven woman's words, before the woman placed a familiar hand on her shoulder. "You have me as well as Dúlinnor, but maybe... some questions are better..." she paused. "...better to ask me."

Reinette nodded, before speaking. "I think I would have actually died if I had to ask Dúlinnor such a thing..." Thurilostel's eye seemed to twinkle at the admission of the younger woman. After a moment, she spoke.

"Come, let us continue to shop!" She tucked her arm around the Mortal woman's arm, enthusiastically pulling her off toward some other shops.

After their day of shopping had come to an end, the two women took Reinette's purchases back to Dúlinnor's home, tucking them away in the Mortal woman's room before exiting the home and continuing the walk. Reinette had purchased a few things, specifically things that Thurilostel determined were necessities.

They had stopped back to the shop that Dúlinnor had taken her to to purchase the clothing. Thurilostel chatted happily with the woman from before, who seemed to regard Reinette with a smile in her eye. They spoke quickly in Elvish, though Reinette didn't even know why they bothered - she couldn't understand a thing even if they spoke slowly.

The shop keeper invited Reinette further inside the tent, and motioned for her to stand on an elevated box, before returning with some fabric and some sort of measurement device. She took various measurements of the young woman; inseam, bust, waist, hips, collarbone, arms... Reinette lost track after a while.

Thurilostel explained her plan. "I think it is good for her to know you, so she may make you clothing as you please." Reinette nodded, and the woman returned with the fabric from before. Fitting it around the girls shoulders, she clasped it in the front with a brooch. Measuring the distance between her ankles and the ground, the woman seemed happy with her handiwork - Reinette payed her for the cloak, and the woman folded it carefully, including the brooch with it.

They had also stopped into a shop, at the insistence of Reinette, that sold musical type instruments. Thurilostel waited curiously as Reinette had browsed the selection. She picked up an instrument that resembled the acoustic guitars she had grown up playing, though it was smaller. She played a few chords, and some notes. A few of the chords felt a bit off, so she tightened the strings, happy to be able to find something that sounded quite close to her beloved instrument.

She was happy to purchase the instrument, though Thurilostel seemed curious at her choice. "You know how to play... the 'guitar'?" she asked. She had said the name of the instrument earlier, but Reinette couldn't quite remember, opting instead to continue calling it a guitar. So Thurilostel did the same, interested in the Westron word she didn't know.

"I know how to play the guitar, yeah. This is a little different, though. A little more..." She couldn't really find the word to describe the sound it gave off. "It's a little more... earthy?" That didn't sound quite right, but Thurilostel nodded anyway. She seemed to understand.

From there the women had gone to a few more shops. Reinette had bought some drawing papers, as well as some colored pastels - or at least something that seemed like pastels. She also purchased a pouch similar to the one that Thurilostel carried with her.

All of these things had been dropped off at the house, and the girls were chatting as they made their way to somewhere that Reinette wasn't entirely sure. Thurilostel finally spoke as they approached the grounds. Reinette remembered her comment from earlier, stifling a giggle. She wondered how much Aglaron would be upset with his wife for coming, but she figured it would be okay when she saw the other women that were already there, chatting between themselves, watching the other Wardens spar.

The group of Elven women quieted when they saw Reinette. Some gave her kind looks, while others seemed to regard her as a true foreigner, apparent looks of superiority on their faces. Their hushed whispered started again, and this time Reinette was sure she was one of the topics that was being talked about. Thurilostel guided the young woman toward a bench, farther away from the group of women, and closer to the brothers; Reinette had just spotted them with her eyes.

Quietly the women took a seat, Thurilostel's eyes on her husband. Reinette also watched them intently; she had never seen anyone fighting with swords in her life, and it had her heartbeat slightly elevated. She worried that hopefully one of them wouldn't lose a finger or something like that.

The two sparred for a short while, before it seemed that Aglaron had seen his wife. He seemed visibly frustrated, shouting out to her in Elvish. She laughed, answering him in Elvish, turning to Reinette and smiling. "He is not pleased, but it will soon pass him."

Reinette nodded, nervously. It didn't really look like it would soon pass him - he launched out at Dúlinnor, his frustration seemingly focused onto his brother instead. Reinette watched them nervously. Dúlinnor was clearly skilled, but Aglaron was as well, and the way they were swinging the swords around at each other made Reinette's heart begin to hammer in her chest.

There was a moment when Reinette was sure Dúlinnor was going to get stabbed in the face, but he dodged at the last moment, instead getting nicked in the neck. Breath sucked into her lungs quickly, and she couldn't help but grab onto Thurilostel's hand and squeeze. The Elven woman looked at her, seeing the worry clearly etched into the young woman's features. She couldn't help but feel bad for her.

"Dúlinnor will be okay. Aglaron will not hurt him..."

Reinette wanted to point out that Aglaron had in fact already hurt Dúlinnor buy nicking him in the neck, but she didn't know if Thurilostel had seen the sword cut into Dúlinnor's neck. Reinette had tunnel vision at the sight, only being able to concentrate on Dúlinnor. Thurilostel had instead been paying attention to her husband.

Dúlinnor was then down on the ground on his back, his brother swinging at him, when the younger Elven male kicked Aglaron's legs out from underneath him. A few voices shouted out, and Reinette noticed others had seemingly been officiating. The two brothers stood from the ground, talking as if they hadn't just been swinging at each other with dangerously pointy objects. Thurilostel stood, still holding onto Reinette's hand - probably to keep the younger Mortal woman from running to the males.

The two made their way over in good time, Dúlinnor speaking to Reinette as soon as he approached. "I hope your day apart from me was not too terrible." He had laughed, but Reinette couldn't bring herself to laugh along. She had enjoyed her day, yes, but she had missed him too.

The only thing she could say was, "...Your neck..." Her hand reached out tentatively, indicating where he was hurt, almost as if she wanted to touch it - wanted to fix it - but was unsure of herself. Her eyes held worry, and she made contact with his own gray ones. His seemed happy, more than anything.

Thurilostel seemed to notice what Reniette was indicating, speaking to Dúlinnor in Elvish, for which Dúlinnor answered her back the same.

But his eyes turned once more to Reinette, speaking. "I do not know about you... but I am starved." Reinette could barely tear her eyes from the wound in his neck, but she did, making eye contact with him. He seemed entirely fine with whatever the wound felt like, at least to her... She offered him a tentative half smile, nodding in agreement.

Aglaron spoke to Dúlinnor in Elvish, and he and his wife soon departed from the pair. Though, not before Thurilostel insisted that they see each other again soon - very soon, as she said.

Once the other two had begun walking away, Dúlinnor offered the Mortal woman his arm. She took it gladly, thankful for the familiar contact. "Come. I am more than ready to return to the flet." They began walking, and Reinette could feel his eyes on her. Her own were on the ground, watching the grass as they walked. She looked up and over to his face as he spoke again.

"Did you do any shopping?"

She nodded before she spoke. "Thurilostel took me all over the market today..." Her voice sort of drifted off, before she laughed slightly. "She is very enthusiastic about shopping. I bought a cloak, some art supplies, a satchel and a guitar..." She neglected to tell him of the feminine supplies - some things he just didn't need to know about. "I've got a pretty decent amount of coins left..." Being thrifty was something Reinette was proud that she had been able to do, while still getting quality products. She didn't mention the fact that the guitar-like instrument cost the equivalent of the rest of the things she had bought, making up for half of the cost of what she had bought that day. She knew she would't have to buy another, so it was one of those one-time costs.

"Do you play any instruments?" She asked him as they made their way through town, turning to look at him again. She waited for his answer, before speaking again. "I can play for you some time if you want. I don't know what any traditional music sounds like here, so it would be interesting to learn... Because I bet you anything that the music I grew up with is entirely different than anything you've ever heard." Her laugh was crystal clear, her eyes twinkling with happiness.

"Thurilostel took me all over the market today..." Reintette said, before laughing a bit. "She is very enthusiastic about shopping. I bought a cloak, some art supplies, a satchel and a guitar..." The male Elf laughed at her words. "Yes. She enjoys shopping. In fact, that is what she and Aglaron are doing now." Dúlinnor said with a light voice. A moment of silence passed between them and it was easy to fall into it. It was not one where they felt awkward. Reinette spoke again, causing Dúlinnor to glance to her. "I've got a pretty decent amount of coins left..." He smiled at her words.

Truly, she could have spent all that he'd given her and he would not have minded in the least. So long as she had the things that she needed..that was all that mattered to him. "Do you play any instruments?" She asked as they walked through the city. "No, actually. Not for lack of my mother trying, I assure you. However, I always seemed to find a way out of the lessons. She finally gave up." He laughed at the old memory. That had been such a very long time ago.

He glanced at her, smiling. "I can play for you some time if you want. I don't know what any traditional music sounds like here, so it would be interesting to learn... Because I bet you anything that the music I grew up with is entirely different than anything you've ever heard." Reinette said, laughing. Dúlinnor was glad that she seemed in high spirits. He suspected that she'd been worried after seeing the sparring match between Aglaron and him. He'd been surprised that she'd noted his wound so quickly.

He'd played it off earlier however the truth was that it was bothering him. Aglaron had cut him a bit deeper than he'd realized. He attempted to ignored the burning, instead focusing on giving Reinette an answer. "I would like that." He said kindly. "I am certain that regardless of how it sounds that it will be lovely. And, if you want..I believe that we could find someone to teach you songs that we have."

Not knowing how long Reinette would be with them seemed to make Dúlinnor wonder if she'd even have the time to learn the Elven songs. There were many, some easier than others. Though, he suspected that she'd be able to master them with practice. A few moments later and they'd arrived at their destination. Dúlinnor opened the door as he usually did, waiting for Reinette to enter first. Only then did he follow her.

He turned his gaze to the young woman, eyeing for a moment before he suddenly spoke. "I think that Aglaron was a bit more aggressive than he normally is when we spar." He moved one of his hand up, gently touching the wound. He then pulled his hand away, looking at it. There was a small amount of blood on the fingers that had touch it. It was no good that it was still bleeding. "Perhaps I could ask you to help me to treat it?" He was actually admitting that it was bothering him without actually saying the words.

Dúlinnor gazed steadily at her, waiting for her reply. He then told her that she could wait and that he'd gather the supplies. He left her, heading to his bedroom and then to the bathroom, gathering a clean cloth and then a salve that was contained within a jar that had Elvish writing upon it. He then made his way back to the young girl.

He sat the two items down on the small table that was in the sitting room and then brought over a small pitcher that was filled with water and a medium sized bowl. These he sat down upon the table as well. He took a seat upon the couch and then moved his hair out of the way so that Reinette could more easily see the wound. It was not a very long wound but it was causing him discomfort. Dúlinnor tilted his head slightly.

It needed to be cleaned and then the salve applied. He made sure to keep his face straight as he allowed Reinette to take care of the wound. The salve would help the wound to begin healing and within a day or so it would be nearly gone. Once the young woman had finished, Dúlinnor turned his gaze to her. "Thank you, my friend." He said, smiling at her. Already he was feeling better. "Now, allow me to fix you something to eat. It has been a long day."

It had been three months since Reinette had come to live in Lothlórien. Still, Lady Galadriel had not found a way to send the Human girl back to her world. Dúlinnor had faith in the Queen though truly patience was the best route to take at the moment. He could only imagine how hard it was for the young woman to wait. However, during the past three months Dúlinnor had attempted to keep Reinette's mind from such sad thoughts. He spent time with her whenever he was able and we he was not with her Thurilostel kept her busy.

Dúlinnor found himself becoming more and more fond of the girl as each day passed, no matter how hard he tried to ignore it. His Father had slowly begun to warm up to the girl as Dúlinnor had brought her back to his parents quite a few times over the past few months. Even his brother seemed to have warmed up to her a bit. Though, both male Elves still had a ways to go before they truly accepted her.

A week earlier, Aglaron and Dúlinnor had received word that they were needed at the border once again. This would be the first time that Dúlinnor would not be around since Reinette had come to be with them. He'd told her the moment that he'd found out. He even made sure to spend extra time with her during the remaining time he'd had. This morning, however, the brothers were due to leave.

Dúlinnor had gotten up early that morning, putting together a rather lovely meal for the two of them. Once it was ready, he could out for the girl. He was already dressed in his uniform, looking every bit the part of a Warden. Only once Reinette had joined him did he speak. "Good morning. You slept well?" He regarded her, watching..making sure that she was fine. He did not wish to leave. However, he'd spoken to Thurilostel and she was going to keep the younger woman company until they returned.

The meal went on as it normally did for them. Dúlinnor kept up conversation with her, almost acting as if nothing was happening. It seemed like no time before it was over. The male Elf began clearing the table, cleaning up. He allowed Reinette to help if she wished it. Once that was done, Dúlinnor headed into the sitting room. The weapons that he'd placed upon the rack when they'd reached the flet three months ago were slowly pulled from their resting place. When he was ready, Dúlinnor turned to Reinette. He gazed at her with almost a sadness in his eyes.

"Thurilostel will likely be spending time with you while we are away. She worries for Aglaron..more so now with a child on the way. Perhaps you can help keep her preoccupied. It is not good for her to worry so. I would be grateful." He said, moving closer to the girl. He hesitated before gently taking hold of her hands, gazing down at her. "We'll be back in two months..three at most. I expect to hear all that you've learned while I've been gone." He knew that Thurilostel would be intent upon helping Reinette to learn more of their world.

He offered her a smile, trying to reassure her that all would be fine. "I do not expect there to be much activity this time. There has been little reported from the Borders as of late. I would not have you worry for me." Dúlinnor had given Reinette plenty of money to live on while he was gone. He did not want to be worry for her while he was gone. He'd never found it so hard to leave before. He was prolonging the inevitable.

"I would like that. I am certain that regardless of how it sounds that it will be lovely. And, if you want... I believe that we could find someone to teach you songs that we have."

Reinette pondered the suggestion, deciding that it sounded like a good idea. She figured it would be something to help pass the days by, something to keep her occupied. At the very least, the songs would be something that the two of them truly had in common - she would learn to play and sing them, and he could hear her play songs from his childhood. It gave her something to look forward to - something to work toward.

It wasn't long before they arrived back to Dúlinnor's home. He opened the door for her, following her into the home. She stepped half way into the room, before turning the majority of the way around to look at Dúlinnor. He spoke up after a moment. "I think that Aglaron was a bit more aggressive than he normally is when we spar." His hand was soon on his cut, and he checked for blood.

Reinette felt her heart clench when she saw the blood on his fingers.

"Perhaps I could ask you to help me to treat it?"

Reinette nodded instantly. "Of course!" She bit her lip slightly, worried that he was in pain. Dúlinnor went to get the supplies needed to clean his cut up, before returning with them rather quickly.

Once he'd gathered everything, the male took a seat on the couch, and Reinette came up next to him, kneeling on the couch beside him and moving his hair gently and delicately with her fingers so she could see the cut. She took in a slight hissing sound at the sight of it - it wasn't terrible, but she knew he was acting a lot more calm than she would have in the same situation.

"You're taking this a lot better than I would..." she muttered.

She made sure to thoroughly clean the cut, ginger in her movement. She didn't want to cause him any pain, but was still as quick as possible about cleaning it out, medicating it, and bandaging it up.

She let out a sigh when she had finished, happy with the way she had been able to help. "Thank you, my friend." She practically glowed, thankful for the smile he had offered her, as well as for the ability to be able to do something of use to help him out.

"Now, allow me to fix you something to eat. It has been a long day."

3 months had passed.

Reinette had been journaling constantly, labeling both the current date in Lothlórien, as well as what date it should have been in Virginia. She figured that it was approaching the end of July, which meant that it was approaching her 23rd birthday. She had been excited at the fact that she was turning 23, but the idea that she had been in Lothlórien for so long... so long that a birthday had come? Granted, it had only been 3 months, and not an entire year. But...

The thought that she wasn't celebrating this soon-to-come birthday with her family hurt. Of course, she wouldn't be celebrating this birthday with her parents anyway, for obvious reasons. She was bitter about that all over again, and had stewed about it for a day or so.

She felt bad for Dúlinnor sometimes, having to put up with her moodiness on the rare occasion that she was in a bad mood. He seemed pretty forgiving about it all; it didn't really seem to bother him in the first place, actually.

The male really seemed to be trying to keep her happy, and in the majority of situations, she was. Thurilostel was quickly becoming the Mortal's best friend, and for the companionship, the girl was eternally grateful. She looked forward to their days together, which were frequent. They never seemed to run out of things to laugh and talk about. Thurilostel's understanding of Westron was gaining momentum, and Reinette had even taught her slang from back home, much to the frustration of Aglaron and Dúlinnor. Both girls thought it was hilarious...

Dúlinnor's parents were kinder to her as well, and Reinette had begun to look forward to the times that she got to spend with them. Dúlinnor's father would every so often ask her questions about where she was from; she would try her hardest to point out differences between their world and hers, if only to solidify in his head that she wasn't anything like any human he had ever met. She could still feel the wall between them, but didn't try to push at it. Instead, she opted to chip away at it slowly.

Reinette had been beside herself again when Dúlinnor had informed her of the fact that he would be leaving for the border in a week. The two spent a lot of time together during that week, Reinette feeling entirely dissapointed and sad at the thought that Dúlinnor would be leaving as the week drew to a close. And then it was before them, the day he was supposed to leave.

She did admit that he looked absolutely handsome in his uniform. "Good morning. You slept well?"

Reinette nodded, silent for a moment, before she spoke. "Yeah, I had a dream... But I don't remember it now."

They had eaten breakfast together that morning then, and Reinette could feel her spirits debating between being picked up and falling - he had made a beautiful meal for them, but at the expense of him leaving. He tried his hardest to keep them up, acting as if nothing was about to change.

But it all came to an end too quickly for her likes, and he was gathering up his weaponry in the sitting room. She stood in the doorway watching him. When he finished, he turned to her. His eyes seemed sad - her own reflected that emotion equally.

"Thurilostel will likely be spending time with you while we are away. She worries for Aglaron... more so now with a child on the way. Perhaps you can help keep her preoccupied. It is not good for her to worry so. I would be grateful." Reinette nodded.

"Of course, I'll try to keep her mind off of everything. We can spend my birthday together..."

She hated that she had said it outloud - she didn't want him to feel more guilty than he already probably did.

"We'll be back in two months... three at most. I expect to hear all that you've learned while I've been gone." His hands were warm around hers, and she squeezed them lightly, accepting his reassuring smile with a half smile of her own.

"I do not expect there to be much activity this time. There has been little reported from the Borders as of late. I would not have you worry for me."

She pulled him into a silent hug then; she wasn't sure what she was supposed to say. He was going to be gone for so long... She had never been without him like this. It was going to be an adventure all in its own.

She pulled away eventually, standing as tall as she could. "I'll have a song or two ready for you when you get back. And I'll try my hardest to not butcher the Elvish language, but no promises." There was that quirky smile, and she offered it to him as a way to calm his own nerves.

It wasn't long before the two were parting ways. The door shut to the flet, and Reinette bolted down the hallway to the roof-hatch, climbing up, throwing open the hatch, and making her way onto the roof to watch the male Elf leave.

After he'd gone silent, Reinette pulled him into a hug. He returned it, holding her small form to him. He took comfort in her embrace though said nothing of it. It was this that he would hold on to while he was gone. He now had someone to come home to..something he'd never experienced before. He'd never imagined that it would be this hard to leave Reinette. However, he'd sworn an oath long before she'd come along. One that he had to uphold. Their land needed protecting and that was what he would do.

He was unsure of how long had passed as they stood so close together. Truly, Dúlinnor imagined that he would have been happy simply staying that way for the rest of eternity. However, soon enough, Reinette pulled from him and he allowed it. "I'll have a song or two ready for you when you get back. And I'll try my hardest to not butcher the Elvish language, but no promises." Reinette said, smiling. Dúlinnor returned it, though it was not nearly as happy of a one that he normally gave her.

"I shall look forward to it. And who knows..perhaps by the time I return you will have learned some Elvish. Either way..I'm certain that they will be wonderful." He paused for a moment, regarding her. "When I return I'll have to make up missing your birthday." She'd said nothing of the day coming. Dúlinnor had no clue that it had been approaching. When he thought about it he probably should have asked her. But, then, he'd assumed that she would brought it up.

"Until next we meet." He said at last, bowing his head to hear and then gesturing her as he'd done to Aglaron the day they'd arrived back in the city. He did not normally do so with Reinette. It was reserved for those that an Elf held close to their heart. Dúlinnor turned then, leaving the flet. He closed the door behind him and made his way from Reinette..from his home. He headed down the stairs but before he was out of sight..he turned, looking back towards the flet.

He spotted the young woman upon the roof, watching. He smiled though he was unsure if she saw. He then turned back ahead, continuing. It did not take Dúlinnor long to meet up with Aglaron. The other Elf did not seem in a good mood that morning. He refused to speak as the two of them made their way through the city. It was only as they were mounting their horses that the older Elf spoke.

"Thurilostel did not wish me to leave. She thinks that it is far too dangerous. We argued. I understand where she is coming from but nothing has changed. I have a duty to the Lady and just because I am to be a father..that changes nothing." Dúlinnor sighed softly. "Do not be angry with her. She is simply worried. This is her first child and she wishes for nothing to happen to you." The older Elf seemed to calm a bit at his brother's words.

Two and a half months later Dúlinnor found himself sitting upon his horse, slowly making the trip back towards the city. It had felt like a lifetime since he'd seen Reinette. During the time that he'd been gone, the Elf had found himself thinking of her quite often. He could not wait to see her again. "Will you and Lady Reinette be joining us tonight? Mother and Father will be looking for you." Aglaron's voice pulled Dúlinnor out of his thoughts. He glanced over to the older Elf before he answered. "We shall see. I shall speak with her and see what she wishes to do."

His brother simply smiled, shaking his head. "What you continue to see in the Mortal, I shall never know." Aglaron said. Dúlinnor shook his head, remaining silent. In truth, there was quite a bit that he saw in Reinette. She was simply unlike anyone he'd ever met before. The group moved together, the Elves speaking and a few even singing. They were all in high spirits, happy to be returning to the city.

The trip seemed to take far too long in Dúlinnor's opinion. They reached the stable and he slid off of the horse with ease. Together, they led the horses within and untacked them, getting them ready for a well deserved rest. The brothers spoke together, chatting together. This time, as they'd been at the Border, they'd amazingly not gotten into any fights with one another. A rare thing indeed.

"I am hoping that Thurilostel will give birth before we are called away again." Aglaron said suddenly, eyeing the younger Elf. "She's due any time so I doubt you've anything to worry about." Dúlinnor said. It was then that they departed together, making the short trek back into the city.

Little had happened while they'd been at the Border. Only one small band of Orcs had ventured within the woods. They'd been easy enough to deal with. Something that all the Elves had been glad of. However, Dúlinnor felt that this was a calm before the storm. A feeling that he'd, as of yet, not been able to shake. It was still fairly early in the morning. Very few were out yet. There had been no word that the Wardens were returning that day. Dúlinnor hoped to surprise Reinette.

He parted ways from Aglaron at the usual spot, heading towards his own flet. He moved slowly, enjoying the walk. There were no lights to be seen coming from his home. At least what he could see. He reached the door, opening it silently. He then removed his weapons and placed them upon the rack. Dúlinnor then made his way towards the kitchen. He could not hear any sound coming from Reinette's room though he knew that she would be up soon enough.

He set to fixing breakfast for them. He took his time, making sure that everything was the way that he wanted it to be. As he finished setting the table, complete with food and drink, Dúlinnor suddenly turned his gaze to the doorway. A smile was quick to find its way to his face at the sight of the woman. "Good morning." He said simply, watching her..taking in her reaction to seeing him suddenly. "We were able to return earlier than I had thought.."

Reinette's 23rd birthday had come, and she was thankful that Thurilostel had decided to spend that day with her. The Elven woman congratulated her on another year of life, and Reinette had sat thinking. Thurilostel pressed her about her thoughtful face, before Reinette spoke.

"How does it feel to be a few thousand years old?"

Thurilostel pondered the question she had just been asked, before answering. "It feels no different than it does most any day. But I have noticed the times changing - just not as you do..."

Reinette nodded, though she couldn't quite comprehend exactly how it would feel to live such a long time.

Later that day, Thurilostel had surprised her with what appeared to be a cake - it was small, just big enough for the two of them, and it didn't truly look like any cake that Reinette had eaten. The Elven woman had also bought Reinette a gift. They split the cake as Reinette opened the package, finding inside a plush day robe.

"For you to relax and just rest..." Thurilostel had spoken, a smile on her face. Reinette was pressing the material to her face, thankful for the plush fabric.

"I love it..." she said, and Thurilostel had been pleased.

That night, Reinette had sat on the roof, playing her guitar and trying to convert songs she knew from before into something more practical for the instrument. Eventually, she played something she had already figured out before. Her voice was crisp and clear, a beautiful soprano that rang out in the night.

"When all of your flaws and all of my flaws are laid out one by one
A wonderful part of the mess that we made, We pick ourselves undone

All of your flaws and all of my flaws, they lie there hand in hand
Ones we've inherited, ones that we learned, they pass from man to man

There's a hole in my soul, I can't fill it I can't fill it
There's a hole in my soul, can you fill it? Can you fill it?

You have always worn your flaws upon your sleeve, and I have always buried them deep beneath the ground
Dig them up; let's finish what we've started. Dig them up, so nothing's left unturned."

She paused, the quiet sound of the outside air permiating around her. She sighed, feeling the heavy weight in her heart.

That night, she cried for the first time since she'd arrived.

Thurilostel had been a great comfort to Reinette over the two and a half months that the men ended up being out on duty for. The girls spent the majority of the days in the week together. Reinette would help the Elven woman with daily chores, such as cleaning and shopping, which they would do for both flets. She'd even helped Thurilostel finish arranging things in the nursery.

It made her heart happy to see the Elven woman so excited to be a mother. Reinette was even lucky enough to feel the child move within Thurilostel, who had eagerly pressed the Mortal woman's hands to her own stomach. She had teared up at the feeling of life within the other woman, though she hadn't intended to.

They'd spent some dinners together, Reinette being taught to cook traditional foods by Thurilostel. It was her opinion that she was getting better. She'd even begun to take lessons on the 'guitar', of which the man was teaching her some basic Elvish. It wasn't easy, which Reinette soon found out.

Reinette had woken that morning a bit later than usual. She lay in bed for a while before she decided to get out. She slipped the robe that Thurilostel had gotten her for her birthday over her shoulders, lightly securing it at the waist overtop of her night dress - a floor length long silken dress that was more than comfortable to sleep in.

She had begun to eat breakfast before she got dressed, as Dúlinnor wasn't home and it didn't really matter what she looked like in the morning if she was by herself. So she had wandered through the silent house toward the kitchen, the smell of breakfast wafting through the house. Of course, her brain didn't register that it didn't usually smell like that until she had started cooking, and she just kept walking toward the kitchen.

She sang quietly to herself as she exited her room and made her way to the kitchen.

"Don’t care if he’s guilty, don’t care if he’s not. He’s good and he’s bad and he’s all that I’ve got.
Oh Lord, Oh Lord, I’m begging you please, Don’t take that sinner from---"

Her voice cut clean out at the sight before her in the kitchen. There stood Dúlinnor, a smile on his face at the sight of her. In that moment, she forgot that her hair was slightly disheveled from sleeping on it, that she hadn't washed up yet, that she was in her night clothes...

All she could think of was that he was back.

"Good morning. We were able to return earlier than I had thought..."

He said it so nonchalantly, Reinette could barely believe her ears. Before she knew what she was doing, she had launched herself across the room, burying her face into his chest and pulling her arms around him, practically squeezing the life out of him.

"I missed you..." she whispered into his chest, before finally pulling back. Her eyes held true happiness. "I'm just glad that you're back, safe and sound, in one piece."

It was then that she realized exactly what she was wearing, and her face immediately went ten shades of red. "O--Oh my god." She squeaked, rushing from the room, not giving the male a chance to react.

She was gone for only a few minutes before she return, a tinge of pink still present on her face. She couldn't believe that she'd just come out wearing her night clothes, while he was standing in the kitchen. She wanted to face-palm herself, but hadn't done it yet. She'd changed out of her night clothes and into something nice, as well as the fact that she'd brushed any knots out of her hair.

She was so excited to see Dúlinnor she didn't know what most important to talk about first.

Dúlinnor steadily watched Reinette as she seemed to take in that he was there. The young woman moved quickly, making her way to him. She pulled him into a tight hug, her face buried into his chest. The male Elf allowed his arms to quick encircle her smaller form, allowing him to return the gesture a bit tighter than he normally did. He allowed his face to lower slightly, enough so that he was able to his chin upon the top of her head lightly..allowing her to move if she wished it. "I missed you..." She whispered before pulling from him.

He smiled brightly, quite happy to see Reinette after so long. He was happy, as well, simply seeing how happy she now seemed. "I'm just glad that you're back, safe and sound, in one piece." She said. The Elf had been about to answer her when Reinette's face suddenly went red. Curiosity crossed Dúlinnor's face as she was quickly rushing out of the room. He simply stared in the direction that she'd disappeared for a moment.

After a short moment the Elf decided to go ahead and take a seat at the table though he did not move to eat. He wished to wait on Reinette. He suspected that she'd left because of what she'd been wearing. He'd not minded though it was not proper. They were not together nor were they related. However, they did live together. Their situation was a bit different from most regardless.

Reinette was only gone for a short time before she returned. The Elf was able to take notice of her still colored cheeks. His grey eyes slowly took her in. He felt a odd pang in his chest. He'd missed her terribly. He smiled at her and motioned for her to join him. Only once she had did the Elf begin to eat. In truth, he was quite glad to be back. Not only was the sleeping arrangements not too comfortable but the food wasn't nearly as good either.

"I was hoping that perhaps I could steal you for the day." He said, glancing to Reinette. He would not force her to spend time with him if she already had plans. For all he knew she'd made friends with others while he'd been away and..perhaps she had little use for him now. Of course, he hoped this was not the case.

"Aglaron was also wanting us to join them this evening at my parents..if you wish it. Of course, we could also simply remain here if you wish it." He was giving her the option. He truly did not mind either way. He wanted only to be by Reinette's side. As they ate, Dúlinnor was happy to speak of his time at the Border though not much had happened. He'd mainly spent his time with Aglaron, scouting about the woods, making sure that none entered that were not welcome. He had then asked Reinette what she'd done during his absence. He'd been quite curious, hoping that she'd not been too terribly alone while he'd been gone.

As the meal slowly came to an end, Dúlinnor slowly rose from the table. He then began clearing the table as he normally did, allowing the young woman to help if she wished it. Once that was done, Dúlinnor suddenly turned to Reinette. He gazed down at her steadily. He offered her a smile as he gently placed a hand upon her cheek. "I would like to confess something." He said, his gaze shining nothing but happiness. He paused for a moment before he continued, his voice soft. "I missed you terribly. It is my hope that I shall not have to leave your side for some time. Unless you have no use for me."

He laughed lightly at the last comment before suddenly pulling her into another hug. He did not allow it to last for too long before moving from her. "I should very much like to make it up to you for missing your birthday if you would allow it." He said as he headed towards the sitting room. He still felt terrible for not being there for her. Though, it could not be helped. He knew exactly what he wanted to get her though it would be a feat doing so with her near. However, he would try.

"I would like to show you a place that I doubt you've been yet..but I've need to stop at the market. We'll be gone most of the day and so perhaps it would be best to take some food with us." He said, smiling back at the girl. He exited the home though walked slow enough so that Reinette could walk by his side. He offered her his arm, moving down the stairs. Now, the city had awoken and it was easy to see that it was going to be a beautiful day with the chance of some light rain.

Heading into the market, the pair was soon surrounded by a large amount of Elves. It would not be hard for Dúlinnor to sneak away for a few moments. However, he waited. He led the way, keeping Reinette close to him. They soon came to a tent that sold various foods and drink. He handed the young woman enough coin for what they would need for the day. "If you could take care of this..I've just realized that I forgot something. I'll just be a few moments. I'll meet you at the edge of the market." He said, pointing to the area that slightly less populated.

The Elf turned then, making his way from the woman. He had to make sure that she would not notice where he was going. He made as if he was heading back towards the flet though within moments he was able to blend in with a small group of Elves that passed near him. Even if Reinette had been watching she would not know where he'd gone. He soon broke away from the group and then made his way to a rather small tent. Within, the shopkeep was selling all kinds of jewels and nice things that one could wear.

Dúlinnor began looking around at all of the beautiful items. He was unsure of what Reinette would like. The Elf that owned the tent began trying to help, showing Dúlinnor many items. It was, however, only once he'd taken notice of a nearly hidden item that he suddenly stopped. That was it. It was perfect in every way.

It had not been cheap though Dúlinnor was happy to pay for it. The necklace was placed into a shining silver pouch and then handed over. The male Elf was quick to hid it in one of the hidden pockets of his tunic before leaving. He moved quickly, knowing that he'd taken a bit longer than he'd planned on. He hoped that Reinette would not be angry with him. It didn't take him long to reach her and smiled. "Come. We have a small trek ahead of us." He said, offering to carry the food. He knew that she'd likely wonder what it was that he'd 'forgotten' yet it mattered little. She would not know until they had arrived at their destination.
