Setting
Renny's father was a Marshal in the Andiran military who traveled north to aid a caravan of clergy in recovering a lost church. It was there he met a Gaelian shieldmaiden and daughter of the local clan's Warlord. The two fell in love and adventured together, and Renny was born on the road, at least two day's travel from the nearest settlement.
Renny has the attractive, hawk-like features of an Andiran with the large eyes, easy laugh, and massive stature of a Gaelian. His hair is a dark copper color, and his eyes are blue – an extreme rarity among the swarthy Andirans.
Renny himself was an adventurer, and has traveled the entirety of Andir, the Southlands, Gazria, and even spent a few years hunting werebeasts east of the Ainnelmain. He was injured in a battle with an ancient, maddened werewolf and could not have his injury tended to in time. His right leg is nearly useless, and he constantly wears a metal brace that allows him to walk.
Renny has a daughter who trains horses at a ranch on the edge of the Stormlord Holds. She visits him often.
Renny named his establishment "TheAdventurer’s Guild” as a joke. First, as a reference to his days as an “adventurer”, second because his patrons are the rough sort, and the more they drink the more epic their tales grow, and third because he regards Witchport’s labor guilds as “silly boys and gals who can’t do the work themselves.”
Renny’s is a wooden tavern stained white, blue, and red with orange and green trim. Reliefs on the sturdy walls depict scenes from Gaelian folklore, and the tavern is modeled after the Warhalls of Gaelian chieftains. The more staid among the citizens consider the establishment an eyesore.
The tavern itself is large and homey, and one will never find less than at least one musician playing lively tunes. Renny has been known to throw rotten onions at any musician who plays boring or overly sad music.
There is a board on the wall titled “The Guild”, and on it are numerous contracts for mercenaries, sell-swords, temporary guards, and even bounties posted by the Duinnahan Hunting Lodge. It is announced: “Contracts for Members Only”. Below that: “Membership Fee: A Round for the House.”
He only has a few rooms, but they are private in that Renny only rents them to people who have some stories to tell, who are actively seeking work as a privateer, or simply to people he likes.
He has a fair stable, filling food, a wide selection of libations, and even sells cheap distilled spirits.
He employs guards for his tavern, as some patrons get rowdy, but adventurers find his most useful service being one of his regular patrons, a money changer. A local appraiser and money lender has a private table in the corner, and he offers fair assessment of any spoils gained “during any action that I do not need to know the nature of” for a small fee. The money changer can always find a buyer.
