Appearance: Of average build with gray eyes and short brown hair usually neatly combed back. He usually wears a dark green greatcoat with Shroud's insignia displayed on the sleeves as well as matching pants and black shoes.

Personality: Calm, efficient, orderly, all words that come to mind among his colleagues when they are asked to describe him. He usually prefers to finish his missions with as little overt effort as possible, but at the same time will let no obstacle stand in his way once he has been given an assignment. As he is ill-suited for direct combat, he usually lets Ash handle most opponents. Ever since he took the position of Ash's handler he developed something of a soft spot for him, coming to think of him as something like a mentally retarded son. He treats him well, both out of neccesity (as Ash is the only thing standing between him and many hideously powerful ESPers), and out of a strange sense of paternal pride.

To him, finding and eliminating the zero subjects is just a mission, but a mission he will see through until the end.

Bio: Born and raised in Phoenix, Preston Maphers grew up with a father who was all but completely absorbed in his duties for Shroud and a mother who was powerless to do anything about it. His father, a low-ranking officer in Shroud's hierarchy, was overjoyed when his son began to display signs of psychic powers, as he believed that he found his key to a quick acscenion up the ranks. However, he was greatly mistaken. On the evening after Preston had been inducted into Shroud's ranks to recieve training as a task master, what should have been a party to celebrate his success turned into a tragedy when his father, blind drunk from consuming large quantities of alcohol during the course of the party took out a handgun he had been hiding under his jacket and pulled the trigger at his wife, saying she was bogging him down in his pursuit of power before pointing the gun at his son, blaiming him for robbing him of his chances to advance in Shroud's ranks. The gathered audience fled in horror as Preston calmly raised his hands towards his father, forcing him to put the barrel of the handgun in his mouth and blow his brains out. After that, preston left his family's house never to return, choosing to focus only on his duties and his training to become a task master.

Appearance: Ash has the appearance of a young boy with very pale skin, gray hair and bright blue eyes. He usually dresses in simple white garments that can be replaced easily, as they often get torn up in combat.

Personality: Since Ash has only rudimentary intelligence one could argue that he has not much of a personality to speak of. However, this is not quite true. He is fiercely loyal to Preston, to the point that many of his colleagues wonder how much of that loyalty stems from their mental connection and how much from Ash's gratitude for Preston treating him like his own son. Secondly, he seems to enjoy being out in the open, especially when he gets a opportunity to swim or feel grass beneath his bare feet. Lastly, he seems to enjoy seeking close physical contact with Preston, and is usually seen at his side when not in battle

Bio: Before he was introduced to Preston Ash only knew the insides of the laboratory he had been created in, with it's blank white walls and the doctors who would keep their watchful eyes at him at all times. Much of his day was occupied with training to master his immense psychic powers. Then came the day when Preston became his task master, and Ash took his first steps into the outside world as a trained weapon in Shroud's service. As time passed, the relationship between task master and cloned bio weapon turned from purely professional to something that resembled a relationship between a single father and his son. Many of Preston's fellow task masters wonder if this a good thing or not.
