Gwyn Morrigan

Only a glimpse...

0 · 798 views · located in Curio City, The Abyss

a character in “Abyss”, as played by StormtheCastle

Description

Name: Gwyn Morrigan

Nickname: Grin

Sexual Preference: Bisexual

Appearance: Image

Gwyn has brown hair gleams russet in the sun and stormy gray eyes. However, they normally don’t show because he wears clothes that cover him entirely. Whether it is the modern-day hoodie and some pants or his favorite suit (on the picture), Gwyn usually doesn’t reveal himself to many.

Character Personality: Gwyn is generally seen as confident and cheerful, but doesn’t try to reach out to people. If others approach him, he can be friendly enough but he is never the one beginning the exchange. He is however, easygoing and nearly always smiling/grinning. He finds it easy to laugh. When nervous or irritated, he usually fiddles with a hilt of one of his swords or cracks jokes. He also has an unconscious habit of reaching up as if to pull down his hood but then stops himself.

Weapon Class: Melee – dual-wielding swords.

Creature: Name - Arian; Power - Speed/lightning.

Creature Appearance: Image

Arian is most commonly compared to a wolf, but several features like the longer ears show that she... well, isn’t. When angered, her fur bristles and stiffens. Some may see lightning flickering through. She may take a human form but prefers not to.

Creature Secondary form: The contract-transfer messed up. Gwyn received a large scar on the right side of his face over his eye. He cannot see through it anymore... except when Arian isn’t summoned in her physical form. Her secondary form is like a mask-cover that flows over Gwyn’s face. The scar vanishes and he can “see” through his right eye though there are some differences from normal human sight since he is technically seeing through Arian’s eyes.

Creature Personality: Arian is adventurous and independent. At first, she looked on the contract as just a means to an end (Gwyn’s soul), but their companionship has grown to a close camaraderie where they know they can trust each other in a fight.

History: Gwyn can remember laughter as a younger him and another wrestle in some yard, peace as he rides through empty streets with the wind in his hair on a motorcycle, adrenaline as he creeps through a forest with a gun in hand, and a blur of pain and fear.

So begins...

"Here is your new contract." Her voice slipped silkily through the air and flowed around Gwyn like the darkness through which he couldn't see. He cried out as he felt his back and soon his whole body burn, stabbed by some unnamed agony. Faintly, he heard her voice continue in a small corner of his mind as the pain consumed him. "Remember that this is your only, final chance."

In the Door chamber of the Keeper's mansion, the giant silent clock began to tick. A loud creaking sound groaned and then the minute hand slid forward to come at a rest parallel to its shorter counterpart. A bell began to ring ponderously, sending a resonating sound through the air.

Gwyn's consciousness blurred in an out. As he did, he heard the tolling of a bell softly growing louder and louder in his ears. 12 strikes. Then nothing. He was in the Abyss. He was moving. His demon was with him and then apart.

Gwyn opened his eyes. He realized that the pain had stopped and that he must have lost consciousness. He looked around, lost for a moment. "Where-?"

"The Keeper of the Door's mansion," an amused voice whispered in his head. "It might take a little while for your memories to clear up. Don't worry. I'll explain it to you again if need be." Gwyn shook his head wordlessly. The previous events were like a blur in his mind. Abyss, contract, Keeper. His demon slipped away from him both mentally and physically and then a magnificent animal was standing beside him. She was like a wolf, but her ears were pointed and longer than what would be considered usual and her long fur spread out. "Come choose your sleeping quarters and then show me around. I feel like seeing who else is around here."

Gwyn nodded and reached up to his hood. His hands froze halfway and then dropped down to his sides again. "Let's go."

Amaya and Cho

Cho, finding little to no amusement in a girl sputtering not even five words to her and talking to necklaces, made her way back down the stairs. She found Amaya right as she had left her. Cho sighed, her irritation now curbed with boredom. Her moods were so flighty, it was hard to tell what she was really feeling, that is, if demons really did feel things. Amaya didn't even open her eyes to let out a quiet, "Welcome back."
Cho rolled her eyes and plopped down beside her on the floor. "Nothing better to do," she said, passing it off and letting out a long groan afterwords, signifying her complaints. She perked up, however, when the doors began to open. This was the second time today a new person had come through, and Cho was always interested in the new people. Especially the males. Using her wings to lift her back up to her feet in a split second, she starred intently at the door. Amaya was vaguely interested, but compared to Cho, there was barely any. She did, however, open her eyes and wait for the next one to inevitably rush up the stairs without taking notice of her, or to be greeted to death by Cho. This was the norm around here.
And right on queue, Cho flew at Gwyn as soon as he reached the inside of the mansion. He had a sort of...was it a wolf? Either way, it was most certainly his creature. Amaya wondered how his creature would react to Cho being so up close and personal without much introduction.
"Hi there," Cho said slowly, starring intently at the new male. "Looks like someone needs a tour guide, huh? My names Cho." She laughed smugly, her intent more than obvious. Amaya scowled, not sure how to interrupt the situation properly. Or even if she had to. I mean, she was her creature after all. Was it really her responsibility?
"Cho, please stop. You're going to scare him more than anything." Amaya said bluntly, a little embarrassed that she had to clean up what ever Cho decided to or not to do.

Gwyn stepped back, surprised by the... enthusiastic... greeting. The wolf flicked her tail and bared her teeth slightly in amusement, but when Gwyn glanced sideways at her, she innocently looked away. Arian... he sighed mentally. He was certain that she would've started whistling if she could. Looking back at Cho, he smiled and ducked his head slightly. "Thank you for the offer," he chuckled. "I believe I am more than capable of going around without a tour guide." He turned his head to Amaya. "Don't worry. I'm not scared."

Arian suddenly sighed and flicked her tail impatiently. "Go get your room first, boy and then flirt. I want to look around." She grabbed Gwyn's arm with her teeth gently and tugged him away. He stumbled slightly from the unexpected pull and his free hand automatically reached up to stop his hood from falling down.

Gwyn sighed and waved at Ayama and Cho. "Um, I'll be right back..."

Arian dragged him several more steps before she paused and let him go to sniff around a narrow staircase leading down. "I wonder if we can find anything down here."

"Can't I just get one of the rooms around here?" Gwyn waved, taking in the surrounding hallway.

"Well, you might find something better down here," Arian shrugged. "Now come on. Don't say you aren't as interested as I am in exploring where this leads." She led the way down to what seemed at first was an empty hallway. With doors. Gwyn followed the wolf in her trot around to inspect the area with a critical eye.

Edit to respond to lokisma: Gwyn turned as a brush of wind signaled the arrival of something from above. He tapped the pommel of a sheathed sword with a finger. "My name? I am Gwyn."

Knox rolled her eyes, leaning over and throwing a pillow straight at Reed's head, crossing her arms afterwards. Reed just shook it off, opening one eye and looking at her irritably. "Come on, might as well just slip in, get some tea, and make a bloody mad dash for the room again so we don't run into any of the others...." The fem hopped off of her bed with absolutely no enthusiasm, and Reed slipped off of the mattress as well. If we must. He mumbled mentally to her, waiting for her to exit down the stairs first so they wouldn't crash and get stuck somewhere.

Noxi opened the door carefully, then walked out into the very short hallway to the narrow steps. Gorine nudged her impatiently, wanting to get the job done so he could finally sleep after this exhausting experience. She snorted quietly, stepping indignantly down the steps.... Only to misstep on one of the boards and go tumbling forward. Reed let out a hiss of breath, watching as his Little Contractor fell, letting her fall this time. Noxi fell straight onto a passer-by in a hood, causing them to both tumble along for about two feet before coming to a stop. She groaned, rubbing her head and trying to get up off of him.

Nice one little Knox. I now understand why you have that nickname. You should watch where you're stepping. I can't catch you all the time, you know. Reed's large canines poking out of his mouth just a bit in amusement, hopping down the steps easily, his tail swishing along the ground, the long extends streaming just a bit behind. His ear flicked casually as he looked over to them, then gave a quiet growl as he realized she had landed right onto a boy. And that his demon was much like Reed himself.

Gwyn turned to the side for a moment to check on where Arian was - he'd rather not her wander off and cause chaos while blaming it on him. Then there was a clattering noise and a blur crashed into Gwyn, causing them both to fall over. Arian let out a bark of laughter as he lay stunned from the sudden fall. He sat up, gently pushing the other girl up with a hand on each shoulder as well so he could see just who had crashed into him. "Hello," he said, with a small smile, his gray eye gleaming with suppressed laughter. "You know you didn't have to tackle me to greet me right?"

Suddenly, his right hand left Noxi's shoulder to reach up to his head. When it reached his hair and not the hood, he winced and the hand went to cover his right eye. It was an empty socket and a scar crossed over the lid. Gwyn glanced around anxiously and realized that two others would've seen it. The one who had asked his name and the girl now in front of him. He turned to look at her again, waiting for the surprise and disgust at the disfigurement.

Red flushed into her cheeks from embarrassment, and she merely shrugged. "Heya. My bad. And don't flatter yourself, love~" She cooed teasingly, poking his cheek boredly. Reed growled once more, tilting his head and watching the display with mild disgust and also tiredness. He then turned to the boy's creature, glancing her over critically. Noxi then tilted her head as well, looking at his missing eye. With a start, she realized she was still technically on his stomach/lap and her left eyebrow raised up. "Where'd you get that nice mark from?" She asked with seriousness, glaring at the other boy across the hall. Reed immediately growled, bounding over to the stranger, his fangs bared and his fur standing on end as he blocked the sight of the boy Noxi had just tumbled in to.

Knox rubbed the back of her head sheepishly, assisting him with pulling his hood back up, realizing he probably didn't want to show the scar off and also because he was kind of preoccupied with still holding her up. With that, she sat back so he wouldn't have to strain to hold her up with one hand, even if she was light. She gave a quiet whistle, and Reed spat at the other guy once more, almost glaring daggers into him as he sat in front of his Little Contractor and the guy who had the misfortune of being rammed into. "That's R- Gorine, and I'm Noxi, by the way. But my nickie is Knox. As you can probably guess already." She chuckled with that same sheepishness, yet still on his lap. She slapped her forehead, shifting off of him and landing onto the floor softly. "This hallway is fairly empty. I got pretty good sleeping quarters." The fem's voice was fairly quiet, still embarrassed by their little clash, trying to make small talk or something.

Gorine tilted his head, pawing at the floor. "Gorine, as you've probably heard the Little Contractor say." He snickered quietly, getting up and shifting over behind the humans, sitting next to Arian with about two or three feet distance between them. Noxi rolled her eyes chuckling. "Brilliant, well, you still haven't told me your name. Or are you still shocked by my fabulous beauty that you forgot?" Knox's voice was dripping with sarcasm, and she dramatically motioned flipping her hair from her shoulder, though never actually touched it. She then rolled her eyes once more. "Serious, what's your name? And nah, people are leaving already." A stupid grin crossed her face and she shook her head in disbelief. "Unless, of course, you were meaning that you'd be moving into my district sometime soon."

The fem chuckled quietly, sticking her tongue out just a fraction for effect. "You know, I was headed for some kind of tea party thing with Creepy Doll-Face and Bunnicula. Like I said though, sort of a tea party. I was planning on making a mad dash and grab some random item off the table and make a life or death run for it back to this cozy little hallway." She allowed her head to lean to the side, propping it up with her hand as she watched the hooded boy.

"Oh, sorry." Gwyn looked at all the surrounding people. "I'm Gwyn Morrigan. This is my... demon, Arian."

Arian rubbed against Gwyn's legs like a cat, the epitome of innocence and elegance. "I'm sure we can lead you all to the Keeper's tea party. You will be able to find food there," she said, directing the last part specifically towards So-So.

"Sorry," Gwyn said, watching Red pull out the maggots with slight disgusted interest. "You said your name was Amanda right?"

Beside him, Arian smirked to herself at his accidental use of a name that Red obviously disliked. She delicately trotted away so she could view the reaction from a relatively safe distance. Ah her Contractor were so much fun...! Idiot. Arian inspected Daemon interestedly. He was definitely larger than her own un-wolflike large size of a small pony. She wrinkled her nose slightly at the smell of decay but ignored it in favor of continuing her close evaluation of the surrounding people and demons.

Red's eye twitched after hearing someone call her by her first name, "That's quite alright, and please, don't...call me that" She said before shaking her head to clear her mind. She was going to blow a gasket if on more person called her by her first name. Daemon looked down at her and let out a small laugh, "Calm down now girly, don't want make any enemy's now do we." Red rolled her eye, "Just.. shh Daemon and let me do this." She said before looking over at Gwyn, "And your Gwyn, right? please call me Red, And This is Daemon." She said as calmly as she could muster. When she was done she picked up the pile of maggots and dumped them into a bag and tied it up, not being able to find a trash can she placed the bag next her and Daemon and then patted his dirty skull. "Sorry for earlier, the whole hiding and then falling, and then throwing a fit. i'm just not a very confident person." She said as Daemon slowly turned back into his human form. Red still on his lap.

Right before Gwyn entered the room with Arian, he heard Red and stopped. "No, sorry." He said sheepishly. "It was my fault." He grinned at her. "Nice to meet you Red."

Teeth tugged. The door slammed shut. Gwyn and Arian were gone.

Somewhere in the mansion, a door rattled and finally burst open with a crash. Gwyn leaped out hurriedly as if worried the door would repair itself and close and lock him up again. Arian trotted out after him. Her fur was stiff and little flashes of light speared across it in random intervals but she was already starting to calm, her fur lying flat.

"We're right by the entrance," she said after a moment. Her tongue lolled out in a smile. "Strange."

Gwyn shrugged, reaching up to make sure his hood was still up securely. "Does it matter? We were only gone for a few hours right? Maybe we can find the others."

Arian crouched and then leapt at him. One moment, she was in the air, and then her body vanished and Gwyn blinked several times. His scar and eye socket were suddenly complete. He rubbed his "new" right eye and then looked around. "You could've warned me."

"Search for the other Contractors, hunt for something to do, explore," Arian replied carelessly. "It doesn't matter. As long as we have something to do."

"Funny, they're outside. Perhaps they are going to a picnic?" Arian asked. Gwyn had a vision of her standing there, with her long tail raised slightly, swaying it back and forth innocently.

Gwyn chuckled and shook his head. "They're probably heading off on an assignment. Perhaps I should join them, but I don't know where the Prince is to let me out of the barrier..."

"Maybe I can try to break it," Arian suggested.

Gwyn winced. "Please don't." There was a pause as both of them surveyed the barrier through Gwyn's right eye.

"...I think I'll wait," Arian agreed finally. There was a flash from the carriage and Gwyn blinked his eyes rapidly from the sudden spots. He walked to the very edge of the barrier and tried to look around to either see what the cause was or find the Prince to see if he could join the others.

Gwyn read through the file slowly and then put it down, sliding it to the empty spot of seat beside him. He drew up himself and leaned back in his spot in the corner seat. His shadowed eyes gazed blankly at the others in the carriage as he thought about what he had just read.

"The kid should be easy enough to keep out of the fight," Arian murmured carelessly. "Her Chain worries me though. If it gets a hold of anybody, we may have to fight against the other Contractors as well."

"Do you think it's that strong?" Gwyn wondered. He absently tapped the hilt of a sword as he thought.

"It is better to not underestimate... And I think I have met Doldum before in the Abyss, or at least heard the stories of his powers. We must be wary at least." Gwyn could feel Arian mentally flick her tail as she switched gears abruptly. "So were you listening to the other Contractors while you were reading? Interesting powers, no? Ask that illusionist about his pranks for me."

Gwyn gave a small shrug and glanced up at So-So with a smile at the ending comment. "Sorry for interrupting, but my demon wants to ask you about what kind of pranks you've done so far. She loves messing with people."

"And don't you know it," Arian said smugly.

Red looked down at her again before clenching it shut, "i guess it is quite useful." Red felt Daemon shift, "I like your new friend Red. An illusionist huh? quite..very interest..." Red shook her head, she could never really understand what was going on in the leuko's mind. "She looked up at So-So as he explained his creatures power, "now that is quite interesting..." She paused as Gwyn asked his question, "The would interesting to know as well." she said, tucking a strand of her hair behind her ears.

Arian laughed in Gwyn's mind. "Very nice. I wonder how long it can last and how far it can go." She chuckled. "I would like to hear the story of the 'right' So-So."

Gwyn considered for a moment. "The bleeding cross, then." He grinned slightly at the others and looked at Red. "What do you think... Red?" He quickly avoided the name "Amanda," much to Arian's amused disappointment. She had, after all, wanted to see the girl react to Gwyn calling her that.
