Introduction
Magic: Lower magic can be used by anyone in Aeteria without special items. But to use more powerful magic you have to use special crystals or tomes. Crystals can be consumed to gain power but at a cost: Crystal consumers end up with scars or body horrors. Whoever consumes too many crystals either turns into a wandering corpse, a fleshy nightmare or even a monster. Crystals come in many forms. Fire crystals normally glow red or yellow. Water crystals are blue. Wind crystals are transparent. Earth crystals are brown or green. Light magic crystals are white. Dark magic crystals are black. Then there are gear shaped crystals that enable the use of mechanical devices and vehicles. The gear shaped crystals can also be used to temporarily transform body parts into weapons or machinery. But black and white gear crystals are dangerous and can fuse into the body of its user causing pain every transformation. If gear crystals are consumed the consumers turn into mechanical being with human appearance but no organic tissue inside.
Armor: Armor is made of leather, cloth, different metals and wood. Armors can be equipped with crystals as decoration and as powers. Armors are used depending on the class and abilities. Blacksmiths and tailors can make armors that are especially protective while anyone can craft their own armor with knowledge but selfmade armors arent as good as the ones made by craftsmen.
Weapons: Weapons range from swords and axes to bows and crossbow to mechanical weapons that shoot elemental energy at a slow rate. Mechanical beings can shoot elemental energy and projectiles but at a slow rate.
Note: Everyone starts as a newcomer in Aeteria.

The next moment she woke up in a forest wearing clothes that didnt seem to be from her country or era. Next to her was an old scythe with an iron blade. A rusty katana was in her hand. She now knew that she wasnt in Japan anymore. Around her neck was a black choker and a necklace with a crystal pendant on it with the form of a gear. It glowed red.

"What happened?" Jamal asked himself "How did I get here? Let's see... what is the last thing I remember happening...?" After a while, Jamal remembered his fight with the bear.
He had been hunting in the woods when he found himself face to face with a bear. Jamal had fired arrow after arrow at it, but it still sliced his cheek and then his stomach, leaving a jagged, though shallow wound in his cheek and a deep gash in his stomach. With the last of his energy, Jamal had stabbed the bear in its heart with his last arrow, killing it. Fatally wounded, Jamal fell to the ground and lost conciousness.
Jamal felt his cheek for the wound. He felt a jagged scar running down it. Jamal lifted up his shirt and there, plain as day, was a long scar. Jamal was shocked. His wounds could not have been healed already. Jamal wondered how long he had been unconcious for his wound to have been healed, for the bandages to be gone, to have a necklace like this given to him, to have such good clothes. No one, not even the richest people in his town, had clothes as good as these.
"Nobody could have found me in time..." Jamal concluded "If they had, they would be around or I would be inside a shelter. But no. Nobody is here. Am I... dead?" Jamal found a lance to his right.
"Convenient." Jamal said to himself "I just hope I won't need it."

"I seem to be in a forest," He muttered to himself.
Suddenly everything came rushing back to him; the man in front of him, a bow in his hand, an arrow was wizzing through the air. There was a feeling of terrible heat on his forehead, an arrow was jutting out. A hand reaching up to it, it was his, the arrow came out. He fell to the ground, lifeless.
"So," Roman said, "I'm in the afterlife."

"So... I have survived? No, that can't be possible..." he looked down on himself, seeing that he had no wounds, not even blood on his clothes. He touched his ribs; they too were intact.
"My wounds are gone... but why? That assassin's daggers were poisoned, there's no way like I could have survived without treatment."
He looked around: this definitely wasn't the forest where he had hidden himself to die. It looked brighter. And he wasn't in the cavern that he had crawled into.
"So... either I have some hallucinations, or I was brought here... or I am dead. But this is definitely not hell." He then spotted the longsword rammed into a stone behind him. A slightly rusty, but decent blade, and a sheath was leaning at the rock.
Grinning, he walked over, pulled the blade out and put it into its sheath, which he then strapped to his back. he felt the cold metal, and came to the conclusion that this was too realistic for a hallucination. "I guess that I'll have to do the best of it... and find out if this is really hell. There's no way like I would have gone to heaven."

"I hope that's just my stomach." Jamal muttered, gripping his lance tightly in both hands and moving on. He kept walking, and soon heard another snarl, followed by footsteps. The steps were slow and light, similar to those of a human. Whatever it was, it was walking more lightly than a human, but it obviously weighed more and could not keep from being heard. Jamal came to a startling conclusion as the footsteps began to grow louder.
"This creature is stalking me!" Jamal said under his breath. He stood stock still, waiting for the creature's approach. Soon again the footsteps began to draw ever closer, until Jamal could almost feel its breath on the back of his neck. The creature raised its paw to strike down Jamal in a single blow of its razor sharp claws.
Jamal whipped around, jamming the butt of his lance into the creature's stomach. He followed up by kicking it in the chest, sending it crashingto the ground. Without wasting any time, Jamal thrust his lance into the creature once, twice, three times. Jamal then snapped its neck to make sure it was dead.
Jamal was about to continue when he decided to get a good look at the creature. It was covered in thick, matted, smelly brown fur, full of knots and tangles. Its face was hairless and similar to that of a man. Underneath the fur were countless scars. The creature appeared disfigured, covered in all kinds of swelling and skin diseases. It was roughly the size of a large man and had several necklaces similar to the one Jamal wore. Slowly Jamal began to realize that its face was that of his best friend who had died several years earlier.
"Forrest..." Jamal whispered "What happened to you?"

He stumbled and fell over a rock, he cursed and stood up. "Well, that hurt. Maybe I am still alive." He started walking again when he heard a rustling in a bush nearby.
"Creature, show yourself!"
A man dressed in full armor stumbled out of the bushes, his eyes were red with rage and he was charging towards Roman. Roman reacted quickly, he pointed his staff at the man and muttered a spell, "Lurrak."
The man stopped as he watched a sphere of shadow come shooting from the staff towards him. He attempted to dodge but was knocked full force by the blast and flew backwards, hitting a tree. He slumped to the ground, unconscious.
Roman drew out his dagger and rammed it into the man's chest, "Damn you warriors!"
Then Roman knew who the man was, "Shirak! Its you!" Then he realized what he had done, "Oh Shirak, forgive me..."
Roman's eyes widened as he looked up, the body of Shirak had dissapeared. "Shirak! Where'd you go?"
No answer.
"Shirak!"
No answer.
Roman smiled sadly and walked on again, going through his spells in his magic book. "What a strange place," he muttered.

Looking himself over, as best he could while still sitting, he found a black leather belt around his waist, and on either side there was an empty sheath. Over to his right he finds a dagger, nothing special, really little more than a rusty peice of metal with some cloth wrapped around it for a handle. Scratching his head he takes it from where it had apparently fallen from his hand, and then looked around for the other, and found it stuck fairly deeply in the tree just behind him, where his head would have been had he been standing there.
"So, I'm an Indian this time? That's a twist. Usually I'm just myself, but oh well, a dream is a dream...can't expect them all to make sense." Malik says to himself, taking the other dagger and sheathing it. "Wonder what this one is about. Last time I was out on a hunting trip with the old man..."
Not paying much attention to where he's going, Malik decides to walk in a straight line, and because of this he trips over what turns out to be a simple but rather rusty and dull short sword that has been stabbed into the ground. On the hilt, however, he finds a necklace, a simple strand of leather. On this leather he finds two rings, one is black, simple, with a crystal sun set into it, made of some sore of crystal. The second is still plain, but silver this time, with a clear crystal set into it, which appears to be some type of swirling pattern. These rings seem somehow familiar to him.
Picking up the necklace he takes the ring off, slipping the black one on his left middle finger and the silver one on his right ring finger. he then pulls the sword from the ground, and, upon finding that it is extremely dull, especially compared to his daggers, he slips it into his belt. After taking one last look around he shrugs, muttering something about hating strange dreams to himself, and continues to wander forward.

As his unknown opponent avoided the dagger Raven ruahed forward and stabbed his sword into the bushes where the person had moved to. Then he removed the plants with a quick slash of his sword, and went to the river to wash the blood off.
It was only after that that he took a look at his foe, and he was slightly startled: it was no one else than the assassin who had tried to kill him before! He was still alive, although barely: Raven's sword had not hit any vital spots, but it seemed like it was hurting like hell.
Calmly he sat down at the man's side, and put the sword back on his back. "Answer my questions, and I will give you a quick death."
The man laughed. "We are already dead, you idiot..."
"What do you mean by that?"
"We are in the goddamn afterlife... I have killed you, and you have killed me."
"I can't beleive you..."
The man laughed. "You're not very intelligent, are you? Heaven and Hell don't exist, they are invented by the church and the king. THIS is what happens after your life.
Raven thought about what the man had just told him. "I see. Since you are here though I cut your head off back in my life, you must be dead." He grabbed his sword. "Now, tell me... the name of this place, and I'll free you from your pain."
"Aeteria", answered the man. Raven then planted his sword through his chest, pulled it out quickly again, and watched as the body disappeared, leavng behind only two daggers, a vial with a green transparent liquid, and a strange blue crystal. He picked up all four, but threw the daggers away. They were rusty and useless. The he rubbed some of the liquid on a tree trunk, which melted away - it was powerful poison. He poured some on the blade of his sword, and put the crystal into his pocket. *It might be useful... I don't know why, but I know that I should keep it.*
He then walked away, into the woods again, without taking a single look back.

"Alright." Jamal said "I don't think you're hostile. My name is Jamal Blackthorn. I guess I could be your friend. Nay, it would be my honor to be the friend of a pretty girl such as yourself."
"This afterlife isn't that bad. This girl is kind of cute. Maybe... what does she think of me?"

She stared at it for a few seconds not understanding what just happened, but she attempted to pick it up again which she nearly failed at. The giant blade was just about too heavy for her to hold, she knew it would have to be traded later for a smaller one but just took it for what it was. Somehow her small sheath had turned into one the size of the blade, taking it as a sign she slung the sheath over her shoulder and sheathed her new sword. It was much lighter with it on her back but it wasn't the right thing for sneaking around. Her next step was to find what was going on, so she started running off into the forest.
