Introduction
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There are many predators in life. Some of them worse than others. The worst is the vampires. They don't see you as anything more than their next meal. No compassion, no mercy, no care. Half the time they don't even care for their own kind. Which only makes it harder to survive. Because with all the unexplained crimes floating around, it's dangerous. Mostly because some people know. Either they find out by accident, or they come from a family of hunters. This led to the forming of the AVE. The Association of Vampire Exterminators, which is just a fancy name for vampire hunters. Even so, the AVE is something to be reckoned with. They show less mercy than the vampires, and use tactics over a hundred years gone to get information about the others. What I mean by one hundred year gone tactics is torture. Even though the AVE poses as a grave threat to every vampire, there are still some who simply don't care.
I will reserve roles for one day and one day only.
vampire 1 - Kayne Veldorr played by Centraiu
vampire 2 - Khael Feldoran played by vamphyrewolf
Khael
Khael looked around the darkened street and smiled, tossing her long black hair over her shoulder. Her blue eyes glittered in the soft glow thrown by the street lights. She could smell humans everywhere. It was almost overwhelming at times, but she liked it. She didn't bother to control her hunger. She fed when she wanted, where she wanted. If she was extremely careful, she could feed in front of another human and they wouldn't even know. She felt her body fill with adrenaline at just the thought. Khael enjoyed taking risks. It was what made life exciting. She tilted her head and listened as soft footsteps echoed down the street. Whoever it was, they didn't know they were going to be her next meal.
"One grande caramel latte please." She said. The night is only beginning, so I better get energized for tonight; don't want to fall asleep like last night. she thought before they where interrupted by the lady's voice. "Whip cream with that?" Suave looked at her and nodded slightly before the lady started to make it; when it came to the caramel on top, Suave was a bit picky about that. "Um, a little more caramel please." The lady nodded, squeezing the bottle; Suave leaned on the counter further to see her drink. "A little more..." She said, her hips against the counter as the lady squeezed the bottle a bit harder. "Just a bit more..." this time, her voice was a bit louder and the top of her coffee drink was drenched in caramel. "That would be $5.83." The lady said in a shrewd voice. "Uh... sure." Suave's voice was even shrewder.
She paid the lady before taking her drink and licking the top, getting her mouth all caramelly and whip-creamy. She walked out and started to lick her top lip, even though she could reach the mess that now spread on the top of her nose.
The Hummer was black, and though most would be able to tell from just looking at it, was worth more than most people made their entire lives. It's windows wern't glass, but a special plastic compound, three inches thick...they could stop a .50 Cal round. Tinted on the outside, they acted as a two-way mirror, allowing the occupants to see outside clearly. Within the hood was a beast on an engine, taken from an Abrams tank and re-fitted for the chassis. Armored frame and bumper kept the vehicle going no matter what got in it's path, with special 'pop-proof' tires, the Army had developed but found to expensive to use, it could go litteraly anywhere.
And it was sitting at a corner stop sign.
Within the confines of the cab was a single man, dressed in night camo gear; black, grey and white digi-camo print uniform, wearing a black skull cap low over his ears. Sitting on the seat beside him was his baby, a specialy customized G36C, loaded with his own blend of Anti-Freak rounds. Pure silver, from the melted and blessed cross of a genuine Vatican cross. With an explosive core, laden with beads of pure thermite. A single round would impact, explode..and ignite the thermite beads...incinerating whatever was unfortunate enough to be hit.
A jaw cracking yawn split his features, as he rolled around the corner, heading down the road. It was about two blocks over, and down one street that his contact had located a nest of the leeches. They were his target. In the back seat was a ruck sack filled with his gear; ammo, med-kit, thermal grenades...he also had a seperate case filled with enough C-4 to level a large building. Tonight was going to get loud.
A smile spread accross Khael's lips as the human walked into sight. She loved how ignorant they were of the supernatural dangers waiting for them in the darkness. Khael liked it best in cities. It was easier to avoid unwanted attention while at the same time providing more humans to feed on. If Khael had it her way, she would be out in the open, with not a care in the world about who knew what she was. But she couldn't do that because of the AVE. Or because of everyone else who was smart enough to be able to kill a vampire. She felt her hand curl into a fist at the thought and her anger spiked. Her eyes flickered crimson for a moment before returning to their natural colour. Khael stepped out casually in front of the human and smiled again, her lips closed so as to not alert the human of her fangs. She placed a hand at her hip and eyed the human thoughtfully.
Pulling into a parking lot, an empty one, Jace reached into the back to take out his pack. Slipping from the vehicle he moves to the rear, pressing a hidden switch and entering a code on a revealed pad. A hiss is heard as the back pannel of the Hummer slides up and out, exposing a hidden aresenal. Guns, blades, grenades...and a suit of robotic looking armor, all displayed from protected cubby holes. The best money could buy.
He selected the M9, with a few clips of special ammo, similar to the G36's rounds, but smaller. A large knife was taken too, it's edge sharpened by hand. The last bit of gear to be selected was the armor. Gun metal in color, ment to be hard to spot in the dark, it was a full body suit, divided into parts. First went on the boots, slipping on over his own, then the legs and hips, fitting like snow pants over his uniform. The next part was the chest and arms, slipping on like an old sweat shirt, as he moved to put on the head. With the final part in place, and fitted correctly, a small electrical current would ripple through the suit. Instantly it would lose it's softness, what once slipped on like old clothes became harder than steel.
Picking up the pack, and slipping it on, Jace ran a system's check on the suit's onboard HUD. Vision passed, Audio passed. After years of waiting and loads of cash..it was ready. The suit had cost him a small fortune to have made, the parts alone cost more than double the Hummer. But it was well worth it. Now he would be fast enough and strong enough to go toe to toe with the freaks. And with his weapons...it would be like crushing ants.
Lifting his rifle and slinging it across his shoulder, the pistol in the left leg's built in holster already, he grabs the bomb case and darts off into the night.
The Hummer would protect itself. Anyone stupid enough to try to open it would be greeted by 20,000 volts. Best security money could buy.
The audio sensors picked up a scream, but it was the city after all, and not all screams were because something was sucking your blood. It was a terrible way to think, but he knew he wasn't a super hero...he couldn't save them all. But clearing out this nest would save countless lives. Unknown to him...it would also cost just as many. The target was one of the older nests in the area..and unknown to Jace it was the home to one of the few Elders that still wanted a kind of truce with humans. He advocated a secret existance, feeding when needed...but staying in the shadows. His opinion wasn't popular these days, but he WAS an Elder, so he got listened to.b All out war was his greatest fear.
From the outside it looked like an apartment building. Standard Brownstone construction. It had three floors, no elevator, with bars on the upper floor windows. The main entry was through a standard looking door, but behind it was an armored plate, two heavy locks and a security gate. The vampires were careful about where they called home. the walls were insulated, sound-proof. Windows featured automatic shades, set with light sensors. The plain old building was a fortress underneath. With an extended basement, rooms splitting off from a central hall...holding cells, the underground complex was almost as large as the above ground.
About fourty vampires called this place home; the Elder, his two sons and the varrious others of the clan. His eldest was out of the building, away hunting..so he was spared.
The trick, Jace knew from his years of fighting wars, was to strike fast..keep the pressure on...and break your opponent's back with as much force as you could. No one expected a frontal assault...
**********************************************************
The guard, his name isn't important..he will be dead shortly, was reading the paper. It was a dull job, but it had perks; as security he was granted a better place in the feeding selection. He liked young men, boys really, they were sweeter. He was reaching for his thermos to have a taste..when the doors exploded in. Shock took over, and he just stared in horror as what his mind mistook for a cannonball roard into the small alcove. It was a man, he realized..only one unlike he had ever seen before. A metal man. Confusion then, and anger. He was a guard...the door was his responsibility. Hand blurring, far faster than any human could move, a weapon was produced; a pistol.
Jace let the guard draw the weapon before taking his hand off at the wrist, the knife flashing through the air. The head followed, hitting the ground at the same time. Move. It was speed he needed. Move. Down the hall, hands moving to the case..withdrawing C-4 as he went, tossing neat rectangles of the stuff here and there. As he moved he cleared the rooms.
Vampires fell, the special rounds punching into torsos, or heads..and exploding, the resulting ignition of the thermite beads spreading fire through the bodies. The rifle bucked, another fell dead...reload, draw the pistol...fire, two neat holes into a forehead, death. He was the Angel of Death tonight.
The attack had been so sudden, the wrath of the metal man so fierce that the vampires took time to realize they were being slaughtered. So settled in thier old ways, used to the human's weapons posing no threat..they took the rounds to vital points...and died confused. Why was this one man so deadly? Other guards fought back, pistols ringing out, as the rounds struck the armored shell...and fragmented. Blades were tried, but he was fast too...as fast as them! With superior speed taken away..they wern't that impressive..so used tpo being faster and stronger...they had neglected combat training.
C-4 scattered behind..ashes in the shapes of men and women littering the floor, Jace moved through the building, old training helping him clear room after room. A grenade here, button-hook into the doorway...fire. Fire. Firefirefirefire. Reload. Repeat. These were just the pests, the new-bloods. He wanted what was below..the old ones. That..thing he had ran into in Russia, it had called itself an Ancient. It slaughtered the squad, crushing them like bugs. Jace had only survived because a demo-charge had been laying nearby. As he came at him he triggered the bomb and rolled away. The blast had tore the beast in half..as it died it laughed..and told him of the others.
"We are Leigon. Da, you kill me here...and I laugh...for we are Eternal." He crushed it's head with a boulder.
*********************************************************************
The Elder looked at his son, sad expession on his face. The attack had been unprovoked. The clan had been trying to get the others to calm down with all the killing, why was this happening? The last of the guards had taken up positions flanking the stairway, they waited now for the 'metal man' whatever that was. They expected a strike force of some kind, maybe a rival clan posing as hunters. No LONE human killed vampires like this. It was impossible. They were superior. The didn't expect a small block of grey stuff to fall down the stairs. Boom.
Jace looked down into the blasted and smoke filled stairs; C-4 was powerful stuff. What was once a staircase was now splintered timber, and shattered walls. With a leap he clears it, landing in a pool of blood and surrounded by ruined corpses. The guards. Before him lay the son of the Elder, a chunk of wood had taken off his head from the blast. Holding the body was what had to be the leader.
"You know not what you have done...this night marks the end of the truce. Your hands are bloodier now tha-" Jace shot him in the face. Grand speeches were overrated. as the body turned to ash he vaults back up to the main floor...exiting the building...the tomb now. As he left a proximity sensor in the bombs he had left activates. Explosions rip the building apart, the basement pit is filled with tons of stone and dirt...flames shoot high into the air as the gas lines rupture. The news will report it as a terrorist attack or something...but it was liberation.
"You will be quiet, human," she whispered. "You should be glad to be able to give life to those who are above you."
He nodded a fraction, his eyes wide. He couldn't have been older than mid twenties. So much life ahead of him, still. She cocked her head and smiled, this time revealing her fangs. When the man started to panic, she squeezed his wrist almost to breaking point.
"What's your name, boy?" asked Khael.
"M-marcus," he said, his voice raw with fear and pain.
Without warning she sank her teeth into his neck and felt as his body stiffen before going limp. Her eyes turned bright crimson as she drank. After she was done, she dropped the body on the sidewalk and walked away. After all, no one would know it was her. Just that someone had done it. She wiped her mouth with the back of her hand and smiled.
"Why, my dear, I am a vamp-" Before he could even finish, she jerked the gun from the inside of her jacket and bend her arm into the face of the vampire; without hesitation, she pulled the trigger immediately. "I have no time to deal with trash like you." She growled, turning around and bending down, rampaging through the vampire's pockets. "Ah, a low ranking vampire... not very much money on your head eh? Oh well..." She looked through his wallet, walking out of the ally way. "Heh, you have more money in your wallet than your worth..." Though, her voice trailed off when she saw a woman walking towards Suave, wiping her face; she was a beautiful yet creepy and dark looking figure, one that sent chills down your spine while at the same time put some admiration. Despite that, something was a bit off about this girl; why not follow her? Better yet, confront her. She walked towards the girl(Khael), not really seeing the body yet. "Fine night we have here huh?" Suave stroke up the conversation.
"A very fine night," she agreed.
She inhaled slightly through her nose and smelled a dead body somewhere near. She looked at the girl, the wallet and then at the ally where the smell was coming from. And the strangest thing about the scent... it smelled like vampire. And the girl, she smelled like vampire, too. Khael narrowed her eyes.
"And what could bring you out so late?" asked Khael.
In and out, the way he liked it. Jace managed to return to his Hummer, finding it still where he left it; the zapper had killed a few bugs. Removing the armor was as easy as putting it on, and he stowed it away. Sirens wailed off in the distance, responding to the explosion no doubt. His bombs had done the trick, the place was a crater. With a grin he slid into the cab, and started the engine. That was when he saw the vampire.
The headlights illuminated the man, his features almost identical to the Elder he had just killed...just younger. The eldest of the two sons. "You killed my father...my brother...and my brood. You will pay, and dearly." The creature extends it's fangs and moves towards the Hummer. Just then..Jace gunned the engine. Suprise registered on the vampire's face as he was struck by several hundred pounds of vehicle and bounced backwards into a fence. Spitting as curse he stands, hearing the sound of a door opening.
Jace was out of his armor, but still armed. The vampire wasn't there at the nest, he had no way of knowing about the special bullets. It was an advantage Jace had. Sliding the M9 from it's holster, and aiming it in one fluid motion he sends a round towards the vampire, a quick shot. Because it wasn't well aimed, and the vampire saw it comming the bullet was easily dodged, with a laugh. "Guns? Bullets can't harm our kind. Maggot."
A blur of motion, and a sharp pain, as a back hand catches Jace in the chest. The vest took out most of the force, but he is still sent back off his feet onto his ass. From there he fires three more shots, finally hitting the beast. A round struck the vampire in the shoulder...and with a shocked expression on it's face..it feels pain. Long forgotten, pain was a distant memory of a time before the change. With a hollow pop the round explodes...and the arm is blown off in a gout of flame. With a shriek the vampire bounds away...Jace forgotten in it's hurry to escape. He rises and moves back to the Hummer, pulling out of the lot and onto the street; his job was done for the night. One escapee wasn't that big of a deal.
"I will bleed you until you are almost dead and let you watch as I bathe in your blood, filthy human," she snarled, her anger spiking to uncontrollable levels. "Let us see if you smile, then, girl."
In a second she was only a breath's reach from the girl, knocking away her pistol. Khael smiled devilishly.
IC: He would relax in his room and witness the confrontation between the women from his window. "She better get inside soon the sun will rise in less than an hour." he would say to himself eyeing the vampire. He would quickly pour his collected vials of blood into a cup and slowly sip it still watching the confrontation. "I hope she remembers that note I had left her." He quickly finishes his blood and closes his eyes to relax.
Khael smiled again and tooka small step back, ignoring the other vampire. She was just glad he had left them alone.
"Perhaps I should give you a warning, human, hmmm?" she asked.
Khael laughed. Her anger had suddenly dissapeared, replaced by unnatural glee and humour. Such was her personality, and she didn't wish to kill the small hunter at the moment. She knocked the dagger out of her hands and moved as a blur behind her. Khael put he rown dagger to her throat and dragged it lightly across the skin, not breaking it.
"You need to learn not to mess with those more powerful than you," she whispered. "Luckily for you, I'm feeling generous tonight."
She replaced the dagger and was gone, leaving her laughter behind, with the hunter girl.
The Hummer chose that moment to cruise by, seeing a smaller female being messed with..by things that moved far to fast. Hand resting on his rifle, eyes locked on the comfrontation, he observed first the male, then the female creatures dash off. The lone human was unhurt, from what he could see. With a sigh, and a moment's hesitation, he pressed the window button, rolling it down. "Hey, you alright?" he called, unsure how to proceed. He didn't want to come off as some kinda stranger-danger guy. "I saw the tail end of that lil show...the leeches didn't hurt you, did they?"
She walked past him before stopping and looking at him, almost glaring; she put out her hand a little in the street towards the hummer's door before looking at him. "I would say my hospital bill will be about... fifty." she stated. Sure, to anyone, she might've seemed pushy and grouchy, but she wanted to drown her anger in one thing and one thing only; chocolate, but her pride was too big for that so now it would only the "hospital bills."
