“I... have never told anyone any of that. I don’t know but I just blurted it out just then. I don’t tell people because it brings back the memory...” she told him quietly, blushing. She put her hand out and felt the wings. Falcon, she thought. All the crying had tired her out and she just rested her head on Rage and fell asleep, smiling.

“Noooooo!”
She was breathing heavily, her heart was pounding and a set of eyes was staring at her in the darkness, looking surprised. Rage.
“Who am I?” she whispered, “Where is...” she fell asleep and couldn’t finish her question. She mumbled something is her sleep and she felt something touch her hair. It made her flinch and she rolled onto her side. She was dreaming again.
“Mama!” Rikka shouted, “Where’s Ella?”
“In the pond, having a bath, like you should be doing.” Her mum responded
“No!” she squealed.
“Haha! Yes!”
Ella grabbed Rikka’s feet, pulled her dress off and threw her into the pond. Everyone’s grin disappeared. Rikka was drowning.
“N... No!” Ella jumped in and pulled her sister out. Rikka lay there, motionless and Ella started to cry. Her little sister started coughing and sat up.
“Grrrrr” she mumbled, “Don’t worry me like that!”
Rikka was caught up in a hug when the dream ended.
She opened her eyes and it was day.
“Rage? Rage! Wake up!” she stood, shaking the sleeping boy. Boy, she thought darkly. Ha! Tall for a boy... He seems well over my age. Early twenties maybe? Probably why he’s easy to cope with.

“I’m sorry Rage! Sorry for causing you trouble!” she replied, at the top of her voice. She dashed down the streets, around bends, trying to find her way out. After a while, she found the gates. Someone chased her so she ran out of the city and jumped into a bush. Was it the slaves, trying to catch her and sell her for a reasonable price? She didn’t know and she sat there, being as silent as possible while also trying to catch her breath. Can’t go back now. Have to carry on.
She winced as something tapped her head.

“I... I can’t...” she sighed, looking at the floor. “I’m sorry, I only cause trouble, have them yourself... S...sorry.”
There was a silence and the candy ended up in her lap. Sulking, Rikka opened the pack and put one in her mouth. She was acting like a spoilt brat, but instead of wanting something, she didn’t want anything. A broad grin spread across her face.
“Where in hell did you get these?” she said, standing up. “I think we can afford to fly, I know what’s coming now, arrows, and I can dodge them.” Rage looked like he was gonna go against it so she grabbed his arm and took off. She laughed and dodged and few arrows and grabbed one, throwing it back at the shooter. It flew past him.
“Haha! Can’t get me!” she shouted, tugging Rage along and she started whistling suddenly. She looked like a child, a grin of mischief across her face and excitement in her eyes. She looked at Rage and giggled. “Cat caught ‘ya tongue?”

“So, where does your mom live?” she asked, wondering if they had to carry on running. She stopped running and told Rage “Look natural, like your meant to be there, and you have every right to do what you are doing. Or people get suspicious.”
Rikka spotted a shop, and it had a perfect emerald bracelet inside. Stopping dead in her tracks, she thought it looked familiar. Realising Rage was staring at her, she just carried on walking like nothing just happened, but the smile on her face was gone, replaced by a huge grin.
“Granddad...” she murmured, remembering the old man who was actually not related, but told her to call him granddad. That bracelet was his wife’s favourite. Maybe she should go see him, maybe he wouldn’t recognise her, as she had grown in the last seven years.
“Rikka?”
She looked around, slowly, expecting to see her granddad. She realised she had stopped for quite a while, and started walking again, slowly at first, and in the direction of the shop. She ran in and brought the bracelet with the money that was in her bag, which she had earned for being a farmhand. Rage seemed pissed that she just went and brought a bracelet but her eyes were full of happiness and she just smiled, not caring and started walking in the direction they were walking in the first place.

She heard a cry in the distance and looked over her shoulder, towards the sun. All she saw was her village, large enough to be called a town but it was not simply for the sake of tradition. She would head back tomorrow, After all, I have responsibilities. She sneered a little at that thought.
