Animatown

Mia Demone walked down the dark alleyway on her way home from school. She was a loner for the most part, as no one else seemed to like how much and how often she used her imagination. She was intelligent and physically fit, passing every single class without an effort. However, the amount of doodling she did in and out of class disturbed the teachers as if it were agaisnt some kind of unwritten law.

Mia sighed as she stopped next to a brick wall, finally breaking down into a sob. It was bad enough she had to deal with being adopted, though why was still partially a mystery to her. Her mother had been killed when she was six years old, and the police believe she had seen the murder and the one who pulled the trigger. However, she couldnt remember anything that had happened between her sixth and eleventh birthdays, which meant the killer was still at bay.

Wiping away her tears, Mia shakily rose to her feet when suddenly, it happened. The ground began to shake and tremble under Mia's feet. She fell and covered her head with her hands as she feared the worst was about to come. Finally, the shaking stopped.

Mia slowly peered up through her fingers to see something quite odd. There was a hole in the brick wall across from her, with some sort of celestial white light shining brightly out at her. She stood, not sure if it was really happening or if she had just gone crazy after all this time. Mia reached out and was about to step through when she heard a noise behind her.

"Mia Demone?"

She whirled around to find a short character hidden in the shadows. He seemed almost familiar, at least from what she could tell from his sillouette. "Y-yes . . ."

The mysterious figure stepped out of the shadows and Mia could've sworn he looked just like . . . The Penguin? "We've been expecting you, my dear." With that being said, he shoved Mia, who fell through the opening in the wall. The man followed her just before the wall closed up behind them.
