History

Childhood/Family Life:
As the daughter of Sir Philip Green and Tina Green, one would find it easy to believe that Audrey grew up in a silver spoon lifestyle. And she did. She absolutely did. Philip is a British businessman, and the chairman of Arcadia Group, a retail company that includes Topshop, Topman, Wallis, Evans, Burton, Miss Selfridge, Dorothy Perkins, and Outfit. Tina is a businesswoman too, and owns all the family shares in Jersey-registered Taveta Investments, which in turn, allows her to own 2,300 shops in the United Kingdom, which is equivalent to 12% of the clothing market in the UK. Her parents' success set Audrey up for a lifetime of success too, but while things were perfect financially, internally, they weren't so great. In addition to Audrey, Tina had two children from a previous marriage, who lived in New York with their father, and with Philip, Tina also had two other children, who were Audrey's full siblings. Chloe and Brandon were four and two years older than Audrey, so the three were close enough in age to be close as children. While the older two were able to develop that close relationship, Audrey was not. When she was around six years old, her father got wrapped up in a financial scandal that would have landed him in prison, had he not paid his way out of it before anyone found out. While the media and the public never found out, their inner, elite circle turned their noses up at the Greens for a period of time. One of those people in their inner circle happened to be the Head of Admissions at the prestigious day school that Chloe and Brandon attended, and that Audrey was promptly rejected from, following her father's name being temporarily blacklisted.

As if it was somehow Audrey's fault, but also most likely because her parents were so overwhelmed with business and having to recuperate from this social hit, they opted to send their child of a daughter to a boarding school, Bilton Grange, at just six years old. She spent most of her young life there, where she had little time to connect with her family. Her life wasn't miserable, mind you. Boarding school was all she knew, so her friends and teachers there became the family that she didn't get to experience like most normal children. She quickly learned that the better she did in all aspects of her life - be it academically, with good test scores, or socially, with positive reviews from teachers, meant that her parents would praise and reach out to her more, and the desire to receive attention from them was what fueled Audrey's strong will to be perfect. It began for no reason other than a desire to receive the love and attention from her parents that they didn't give her on a daily basis. She spent grades K-8 at Bilton Grange, before her parents transferred her to Phillips Exeter Academy in the United States of America, for high school. This to was a boarding school, and though the academics were rigorous, Audrey thrived here. She decided that after her positive experience at the school, that she wanted to attend college in the states as well. Her parents wanted her to go to Harvard. If she were to stay in the states, they said, she must go to an Ivy. Neither of her older siblings were exceptionally bright, so Audrey was her parents one shot at being able to rub a successful child into the faces of their friends who had finally accepted them back into their elite social clique. She wanted to make her parents proud, and so she applied to Harvard, but she didn't get in. She didn't tell them that, though. Instead, she pretended that she had absolutely fallen in love with her backup school, Fulton University, and that that was why she so desperately needed to go there. They gave in when it became apparent that she was set on Fulton, and though she didn't fall in love with it for the reasons she told her parents, ultimately, Fulton has proved to be an amazing school for her. The academics are nearly comparable to the Ivy League schools, so she still has a prestigious name on her degree once she graduates, and the social life she's created for herself at Fulton is simply incomparable.

Personality

Image
Image
Image
Quirks//Habits//Oddities:
She purposely calls people by the wrong name to make sure they know that she thinks they're that unimportant | She has a fantastic memory and tends to remember little details about people (hence why her pretending she doesn't know simple things about you is an utter facade) | Her guilty pleasure is chocolate covered strawberries | She alternates between taking hot and cold showers every other day

Good personality traits:
Dedicated, Intelligent, Detail-Oriented, Passionate, Motivated

Bad personality traits:
Controlling, Critical, Perfectionist, Vengeful, Intense

Personality:
Ever since she was a little girl, Audrey had a knack for being the person in charge and leading other people. She learned at a young age that being called bossy was something that she should take as a compliment, because it meant that people recognized that she possessed power and influence, and that they were threatened by it. She has always been the girl who has a mind overflowing with ideas, a mouth that refuses to silence itself when her brain believes she's right, and a fire burning somewhere inside of her that's constantly pushing her to want more for herself. Audrey isn't someone who is ever going to settle for less than perfect, and she tends to be stubborn in thinking that things need to go her way, or else they're going to crash and burn. In her eyes, perfection can be obtained in every aspect of life, from social standpoints, to academic ones, to financial ones. If anything has her name and reputation attached to it, she's going to be critical of it being any less than perfect. Often times, this results in giving her friends "suggestions" on clothing or appearance options that come out more blunt and unfiltered, than sugarcoated like they want to hear. Honestly, Audrey is getting better at the way she presents these suggestions because she doesn't want to seem unkind to her friends, but being sharp is something that's inherent in her. It's simply hard for her to comprehend that not everyone shares her thought processes and opinions, and that people aren't necessarily "idiotic" for believing things that differ from her own beliefs.

Her control freak, critical and perfectionist-like tendencies are well known by those close to her, but in order to have been elected Alpha president, it's a given that she's not some evil monster that everyone hates. Everyone might fear her to some degree (or at least, her underclassmen Alphas might), but not hate, and even with the younger girls, it's not like Audrey wants them to fear her. She simply wants respect, and the realistic side of her knows that in order to obtain and maintain respect, there must be a part of you that people fear crossing. You must be strong and willing to act on your threats if people go against your word, and that's where Audrey's vengeful side comes in. To counter all of that, though, she does have a plethora of likable traits. She's a great Alpha president, in the sense that she will ride or die for her girls. She will stick up for any of the Alphas, regardless of the scenario or how wrong they may be, and despite having a reputation for being cold and insincere, there is a part of Audrey that is very much alive and well, that truly cares for each and every friend, and sorority sister that she has. She's protective of them, proud of them, and supportive of them, because she knows that anyone who managed to make it into the Alpha house has an endless amount of potential. Audrey is an extremely intelligent girl, full of ideas and creativity. She's energetic, motivated, and enjoys being involved in anything that she thinks will help her grow as a person, or help her resume grow.

While she has a reputation for being a complete and utter bitch, it's not entirely who she is. She can be one, and she would never deny that, but as harsh as Audrey can be, she loves her sorority sisters and her friends. She believes in tough love, and that showing that kind of love will benefit everyone in the end, even if that isn't always true. Her worst enemies will tell you that she's secretly an insecure, narcistic perfectionist who refuses to compromise on anything, while her closest friends will tell you that's she's a bright girl with tons of potential, who has a heart big enough to start fundraisers for a long list of charities, or stay up until four in the morning as you sob about your ex-boyfriend, all while feeding you an uplifting pep talk about how you can do so much better than her. She's the kind of girl that most people either love or hate, but many struggle to not be jealous of her in one way or another.

Greatest joys in life:
Audrey adores attention and praise. She doesn't need it to survive, but she's definitely the kind of girl who feels empowered by other people thinking that she's perfect. She loves that feeling of superiority, and having control and authority over other people.

Greatest fears:
Disappointing her family is a major fear of hers. She feels so disconnected to them emotionally, that still, succeeding academically and in manners that are superficial, are the only ways that she can hold onto their interest and love.

Life philosophy:
β€œEverything is within your power, and your power is within you.”

College Career

Thoughts on Greek Life:
As the Alpha President, one can only imagine that Audrey has nothing but positive things to say about her Alpha house. In her eyes, the Alpha girls are the most well-rounded, destined-to-succeed girls in all of the University. In her opinion, it's the most elite sorority, because it's necessary to weed out anyone who doesn't truly possess the Alpha values and potential that they stand for. The Zetas and Sigmas are immature students who have horrible priority lists, and while the Kappas and Thetas are admirable in terms of their intelligence, in today's workplace, employers want well-rounded employees. Someone who spends twenty-four hours with their nose shoved in a book isn't going to be able to be socially competent enough to ever get anywhere. And that's why the Alphas and Betas are perfect - they possess every coveted trait in the book, and do it all while looking fabulously.

Plans for after college:
Her father keeps insisting that she should continue her education by getting an MBA, and then get a job somewhere in the states. She, however, is desperate to work for her parents' companies. She thinks that will be the way to finally grab their attention and allow her to develop actual real and close bonds with them. Regardless, she thinks that she'll either move to New York, or back to either London or Monaco, to be closer to her family, after she graduates.

Audrey had a few minutes to herself before Ya Ya and Abby showed up, with Ya Ya coming in first, but less than a minute before Abby. Neither girl acknowledged her at first (since Abby's wave didn't count as a good enough greeting, in Audrey's opinion), which made her want to raise an eyebrow in surprise, but also disdain, though she withheld it. The two of them had not only left a very important networking event early, but had been on the scene of a fight at said event, hence, forcing their sorority to be associated with the fight... and here they were, not only not acknowledging her first, but also not apologizing for it? Audrey would not even consider that she was being dramatic, and that apologies weren't owed, because they were owed. She would be the one to accept them, but the apologies were needed towards the Alpha sorority in general. Audrey found it to be disrespectful, especially coming from a girl like Ayala, who prided herself in having worked so hard to get into the sorority. She, of all people, had to know what it meant to be an Alpha, and how even things that seemed minute to other people were big deals when you considered the level of exclusivity that their house possessed. Too focused on taking offense for herself, she didn't care to try and anaylze the tension that was quite likely present between Abby and Ya Ya. She had no reason to know that there was any tension, and what was on her mind, was what another junior Alpha had just informed her of, a minute before Ya Ya and Abby showed up. The girl had stopped in the kitchen to grab a salad that she was taking to-go on her way to class, when she informed Audrey that she thought she had heard a man's voice coming from Ya Ya's room.

Audrey never usually minded the girls bringing people back to the house. As long as they were respectful, and didn't bother anyone else, she was okay with that. If they were non-Beta boys, it received a little bit more attention from her, but for the most part, she let the girls keep their personal business to themselves. She was their president, sure, but she wasn't their mother, and despite how she was sometimes perceived, she also wasn't overbearing or that controlling. However, it had only taken Audrey half a second to figure out that it was Ben in Ya Ya's room, because that was apparently who she had left the event with the night before. "Ayala, before the rest of the girls arrive, and we start this meeting, tell me something. I mean, I'm sure that I already know the answer, because I'm absolutely positive that you aren't as idiotic as Ali is acting like you are, but she just passed through a moment ago, and mentioned how she thought she heard Ben in your bedroom. Just reassure me that you aren't that incredibly disrespectful, dear, would you?" With neither girl acknowledging her, Audrey wasn't in the mood for greetings stemming from formalities at the moment. She was more than annoyed. She genuinely felt disrespected by one of her sisters who was supposed to be one of her closest.

Just reassure me that you aren't that incredibly disrespectful, dear, would you?"

"Good morning to you too Audrey," She said sighing in annoyance. She didn't feel like arguing or dealing with confrontation this morning so she decided it would just be best to choose her words wisely because she did feel a bit of anger bubbling up inside her. For one, she was getting annoyed with Audrey because it was common knowledge that she and Ben were a thing and she didn't see why it would surprise anyone that they had ended up together last night, But for another thing she considered Audrey a friend and she didn't see why she was suddenly attacking her. "Ali should mind her own business." She said simply with a shrug, "But yeah, Ben's in my room. I don't see how that's disrespectful seeing as he's been here multiple times and he's spent the night most of the time that he's visited. You never had a problem with it before and I don't see why you have a problem with it now."

She crossed her arms across her chest defensively as she leveled her friend with a look, "Besides I'm meeting with Archie for coffee as soon as this is over anyways to patch this whole situation with him. " She raised her lips lightly, "I thought you'd be proud that I'm taking so much initiative" She said dully but honestly. "Besides Archie's got a little soft spot for me, I'm sure I can fix something as small as a little tiny fist fight." She didn't feel like she did anything wrong and she wasn't going to let Audrey or any of the other girls make her feel bad for her feelings towards Ben. And it wasn't like she was completely naive to how much of a shit show that they were in. She was going to meet up with Archie, patch things up with him, make Ben say he was sorry to Archie, and then she was going to take a bath because this shit was stressing her out. That was her plan for today. She did not bank on Audrey getting all upset over something as small as who was in her bed last night.

_____________________________________________
Audrey was good at remaining calm in most situations, and she remained mostly calm here, even though she was fuming at Ya Ya's response. The girl had the audacity to try and defend herself? To brush off what happened last night? Really, now that Audrey thought about it, it was typical of Ya Ya. She always had to be in the right. She could never be flawed, and when she was, she would brush it off with an excuse, or just run away, like Audrey expected her to do after she responded now. Because she was close with her, Audrey usually let it be. She kept her mouth closed and was a good friend to Ayala, even though she had never particularly liked Ben to begin with. His involvement in Ya Ya's life had never affected her, so Audrey never made it a problem because she wanted Ya Ya to be happy. Now, though, Ben had handed her a reason to dislike him, and Audrey couldn't believe that Ayala was stupid enough to think that what he and she had done last night was acceptable. The last thing that she cared about was Archie's opinion on this. She didn't give a fuck if Ya Ya thought she could "patch things up". The damage that Audrey was concerned about was far more important than any wound that the Betas had suffered, and that was the effects on the Beta reputation, and in turn, the Alpha reputation. To put it simply, Audrey was shocked, appalled, and honestly, offended, that Ayala seemed so self-absorbed that she couldn't even consider anything other than her own wants.

"Proud, Ya Ya? You thought that I would be proud? I'm going to pass over you insulting my intelligence by acting like I'm not aware that he's been here multiple times. I'm well aware of that, and I've never given you any issues over that. The issue today, and why, yes, you are being disrespectful, is that you seem to be unaware of what that man did at last night's event. I don't care what he is to you. I genuinely couldn't care less. What I'm concerned with, is how he punched a Beta square in the face. Archie can forgive him so wholeheartedly that he starts sleeping with Ben. That's none of my concern. What matters to me is that he disrespected the Beta house at such an important event, Ya Ya, and then you have the audacity to bring him back to our house. And then, on top of that, might I mention how absolutely idiotic you made yourself look last night? I had important people - publishers, Ayala - lined up waiting to speak to you, and you couldn't even grace them with a hello. Not even Emily, who I clearly made a mistake by telling that you seemed like a possible candidate to take over presidency to! You understand what people who want to be successful writers have to do, do you not? You need to network. You can send a transcript or book to any publisher in the world, and likely, unless they know your name, your envelope won't even be opened before it's tossed in the shredder. You were lucky enough to be at an event where the networking opportunity was literally handed to you, and you couldn't even take care of that! And wait, I know you're going to tell me that you're in love, or there are more important things than jobs, but I hope you realize that you're still a child, Ayala. You're in college, Ben is in college, and if you're dumb enough to put relationships over your career, future, and sisterhood, then I'm going to be completely honest with you and say that you don't know what the Alpha sisterhood stands for. As you said yourself, Ben has been here before, and I don't care about relationships that you have in your private life. When you put them above this sorority all while disrespecting the house and me, I do have an issue, though. A major issue, and it's not something that I'm going to tolerate." Her voice had gotten harsher in some areas of her spiel, but for the most part, Audrey had been able to keep her voice level, though standing across from where Ya Ya sat at the island, it took a little bit more effort to keep her palms pressed to the counter top, instead of reaching out and shaking some sense into the girl. "So, you can waltz back upstairs and escort Ben out of our house, or I can call the police and have them issue him a trespassing warrant. The choice is all yours."

Abigail got up and went over to the fridge and got herself something to drink then walked back over to her sitting position. She looked as Audrey went over to Ayala and inquired to see if Ben was in her bedroom. Abby wanted to speak upon the matter but it was probably just best that she stayed out of it as Audrey looked a little angry at the moment. She took a sip from her drink just as Ayala spoke up about Ben being in her bedroom. Luckily, her phone went off as it was another text from Maddox and she had zoned out for just a second to type a reply towards him.

To: Maddy
That's kind of hard to do, honestly. :( But anyways, in a meeting talk to you soon.

After she sent the text, her eyes went back to focus over towards Ayala and Audrey. She only caught the tail end of what Ayala had said but whatever it was, it had to be something really upsetting to make Audrey talk the way she did. Abigail didn't know what to do at this point. She didn't know whether to stay in the kitchen or go off and do something else until this conversation that didn't really concern her blows over.

"Uhm, should I just...?" She started to mutter but didn't really want to interrupt Audrey, especially now. She continued to sip on her drink and looked away for a moment even though she wanted to comment on some good and valid points that Audrey had brought up. She picked her phone up from the counter again and sent a text towards Naomi, Juliette and Charlotte.

To: Naomi, Juliette, Charlotte
Please hurry up and get here before the kitchen becomes a war zone.

She placed her phone down on to the counter then let out a little sigh as she stood up, a little bit hesitantly as she shakily muttered. "I'm going to go outside and wait for the other girls." She walked off from the two and it felt like a breath of fresh air since she was away from that. Abigail sat down in the living room and waited for the other girls to make an appearance for the meeting.

Naomi's night could have gone better. She could have had had a couple drinks, just enough to get pleasantly buzzed, pushed the DJ to play her favourite dance number, and ended the night with a makeout session with a stranger.

Instead, she did damage control.

She spent the late evening dispelling rumors and winning over the alumni guests.

"What? A fight? Oh, you mean the little tiff that happened earlier? Ah, yeah, the Kappas got a little out of hand, but no harm done. Hudson handled it all. He's quite the leader, isn't he? But what else would you expect of a Beta president?"

Her words had all been empty, and she hadn't meant any of it. But they were appeased, and their collective interest in the fight eventually waned, which had been Naomi's goal, really.

Suffice to say, she went home with significantly less enthusiasm than she had left it.

She'd slept in even later than usual, and only rose when her phone buzzed in the late hours of the morning. To her surprise, there were a couple of texts unopened, and she looked over them tiredly.

FROM; Maddox
You okay?

A small smile touched Naomi's lips, and she found herself pleasantly surprised by his concern.

TO; Maddox
Yeah, I'm ok. Well, a little pissed, but not at you, so don't worry. ;)

FROM; Pothead
I realise I kinda fucked up last night. Forgive me? 0:-)

TO; Pothead
You are such a fucking assh-

She paused mid-message, sighed, and deleted what she had typed.

TO; Pothead
I might consider it. After a couple of decades of servitude. Maybe.

She deleted it again, biting her lip in annoyance. Her expression softened, and she finally sent something.

TO; Pothead
How's your face? Did you use ice?

Finally, she opened Audrey's message, already preparing for the worst.

FROM; Queen Ginge
House meeting at 11:45. This is absolutely mandatory, so if I don't find you in the kitchen then, expect to find your belongings waiting for you on the curb when you do decide to show up.

"Jesus Christ..." Rolling her eyes, Naomi got up and got dressed before making her way down the stairs to the kitchen. As she was walking down, her phone buzzed again.

FROM; Abby
Please hurry up and get here before the kitchen becomes a war zone.

Looking up from the text, she raised a brow at Abby, who was lingering outside the kitchen, clearly uncomfortable. "That bad?"

As she waited for the girls to text her back, she placed her phone in her lap and let out another sigh. Abigail wondered what was going to happen after the conversation Audrey and Ayala had just had with one another. Her eyes fluttered over in the direction of someone's footsteps approaching her and it was Naomi. She stood up and went over there towards her then looked into her eyes. "Well, war zone might've been a bit too extreme but..." She paused with a breath and was about to continue until she saw Juliette storm past her and Charlotte coming in right after her. Of course, she could feel more tension in the air and really wanted to question what their whole ordeal was but it was best not to meddle between siblings these days. Abby's gaze went over towards Charlotte as she sent a text towards something then asked what was happening in the kitchen.

Abigail shrugged her shoulders as her eyes glanced back at the entrance towards the kitchen then turned back towards the two girls before her. "Well, it's no surprise that Ya Ya brought Ben back home after last night's event but it was also after a fight between some Beta and Kappa guys. But Audrey found out from someone that Ben was in her room and asked her in a sort of nice way to see him out before this little gathering and Ya Ya expressed her opinion on the matter. Then Audrey also expressed her feelings, if you will, about last night and on many other subject matters." Abigail rambled slightly as she took a small breath and stared at the two of them. "As I told Naomi, using the word war zone might've been extreme but it certainly felt that way for a moment while I was in there." Her eyes went back towards the kitchen entrance as Abigail still wondered what was the tension between Juliette and Charlotte was about. "I hate to pry but Juliette seems pretty upset about something." She started as her eyes were focused on Charlotte now. "Is everything okay with her?" She inquired towards her while she nervously bit her bottom lip, awaiting an answer from her.

Abigail eyes still looked at Charlotte as she answered her question. She raised a slight brow at her response though since she called Juliette dramatic, something Abby never thought as Juliette to be dramatic. Well, around her anyway. Abigail turned her head to the side at Charlotte, not really wanting to stay on the subject between the two siblings that long. "Well, I hope things better." Abby smiled after she spoke those words and parted her lips to answer her question. "Uhm, bad? Yes. I never seen Audrey that mad at anyone. But Ya Ya should've known better though. Am I right?" Abigail commented and questioned as she shook her head and chuckled a little at Charlotte. "Yeah, I wouldn't even bring a guy home." She stated as she placed a hand over her chest, putting a significant emphasis on herself. Her phone chimed inside of her hand as Ben's name scrolled across the screen. 'Speaking of the devil.' She thought as she opened the message and typed a reply towards him.

To: Ben
Today might not be the best time. Maybe we can meet before the carnival though?

She sent the message with a sigh then looked back up towards Charlotte and Naomi. Speaking of texting someone, she wondered why Maddox hasn't texted her back yet. She figured that he was probably upset or frustrated at her right about now. She focused back into the conversation and couldn't even hold back her laughter at Charlotte's last statement but then shrugged her shoulders at her question. "Probably about the fight last night that some of us were surrounding but not apart of. That's the only thing I can actually think of." Her eyes went over towards Naomi just as Charlotte's did. Now that Abigail recalls, she didn't even see Charlotte at the event last night or at least, she doesn't think. Abigail shrugged her shoulders then glanced back towards the kitchen before she turned her attention back towards the two ladies that stood in front of her. "So, should we go in there or wait out here until one of them comes out here and gets us?" She asked. "I vote to wait out here, especially after Charlotte's last statement." Abigail commented as she waited to see what they wanted to do.

Yaya was never one to back down when it came to something she was passionate about. However she actually agreed with Audrey for some parts of her rant and as much as she’d like to chalk it up to Audrey being an irrational bitch she knew that the redhead at least had some good intentions towards her. However of almost all the girls, and Audrey knew this too, there were a select few who were as dedicated to the Alpha’s as she was and she made sure she was aware of that. ”Should I have brought Ben back to the house last night? No and I’m sorry for that I acted without thinking but I had no intentions to disrespect anyone. I also understand that you’re just being a good president, however...” She said leaning forwards and raising her eyebrows, ”To say that I put him before this sorority, before my sisters, or my career is uncalled for. I damn near bleed pink and green just like you and that’s one of the reasons we’re friends. So know that as friends I’m not some stupid love-struck idiot who’s going to throw my life away for him. But I’m also not going to throw him away because he joined the wrong fraternity, that’s not me, that’s never been me and you know this. ”

She looked down at her watch, ”And now I have to go volunteer at the blood drive so I have to go. Look I know you’re looking out for me but I did something stupid, I didn’t become stupid.” She glanced at her phone, ”And he already left, probably out the back door, smart man.” She added collecting her things. She knew this conversation wasn’t over completely but she at least hoped it was placated.

"No, Ya Ya. Clearly, you're proving to me that you became stupid. Doing something stupid was standing there and witnessing such a reputation-damning fight in the middle of an event. Being stupid is leaving an incredibly important event early, when people who could have furthered your career were there. Being stupid was telling your Little that it was okay to leave early, as well. Being stupid is taking the perpetrator of that fight back to our house. Being stupid is deciding that you can just get up and leave in the middle of a house meeting. Had you done one stupid thing last night, I would have brushed it off as a poor decision, but you've left me disappointed, and unable to call you anything but stupid. So sure, run along to your blood drive. Hopefully you're at least donating blood while you're there, so the next time that your lovely Kappa friend decides to viciously attack someone, there will be enough blood in the banks for them to have a chance at survival." Audrey was being dramatic, yes, but it wasn't dramatic for Audrey. In the grand scheme of things, and for a different person, the behavior and words likely would have been perceived as being harsh and unnecessary, but Audrey was a very straight-up person in situations like this. She didn't like being disrespected or feeling like her intelligence was being insulted, and she didn't like people trying to defend actions that were clearly, and absolutely, unjustifiable. She loved Ayala, and she did think that she was a dedicated Alpha sister, but right now, she wasn't acting like one. She absolutely wasn't acting like one, and Audrey refused to even consider any other opinion on that matter. So, with a condescending and dismissive wave of her hand, she signaled to Ayala that she was free to leave, especially since it seemed like the girl was ready to go anyway.

Juliette came in just then, and her dramatics made Audrey feel better about her own as the girl pleaded that Audrey ream Charlotte on her relationship with Weston. This was something that Audrey didn't feel like dealing with, because here, it was very hard for her to convince herself that she wasn't in the wrong. She was being a bad Alpha by doing this to her Little, and to Charlotte, but she had to do it, she told herself. Charlotte was out of control, and if she didn't lasso her in like this, she would make a farce of their entire sorority. If that meant that Juliette had to deal with a little bit of heartbreak, then that seemed like a necessary trade-off. Audrey wanted to believe that, at least. "Jules, Jules, calm down. You know I'm not into hysterics," Audrey said, trying to force a genuine smile on her face as she placed her hands on each of Juliette's shoulders in an attempt to force her to calm down. "We spoke about this last night, didn't we? I know that you're upset about all of this, but you have to remember that you're always going to be the twin that the boys like better. You could have absolutely any boy in that Beta house, I guarantee that, and Charlotte... well, you probably know better than anyone that things like that have always been more difficult. Weston's probably the only Beta who would ever really want to date her, and I know that you're upset right now, but can't you try to look at this as you doing a good deed? You're helping Charlotte assimilate into our culture, by just letting this go." She looked at the brunette was a hopefully inquisitve look, before hearing faint voices from outside the kitchen. "Come in, ladies. Let's talk business!" she called out, and now, she had to force her voice to return to its normally chipper tone.

~ Sarah Addison Allen, The Sugar Queen

There was something about carnivals that brought out one's inner child. The whimsical surge of energy combined with various food stands packed with every sugary, fatty and downright delicious delicacy coating the sticky sweet air that surged upwards into passing group's nostrils. Screams from passengers aboard rides echoed all around, little beeping noises from won games filled people's ears. The playful ambiance of such events welcomed couples holding hands, students and even families, all searching for a little bit of fun after a long day. Carnivals were places to have fun, to relive just a small piece of one's childhood. It was also a place where anything could go and perhaps, where certain rules no longer apply...

_______________________________________
A night of pure, uninterrupted fun was what Audrey needed tonight. She knew that that was probably asking too much from the world, because when was there not drama or stress in her life, but she still hoped that tonight could be nothing less than enjoyable. And at least up to now, it was. She pushed the previous day's altercation with Ayala to the back of her mind, and was able to feel more at peace with the Charlotte and Weston dilemma now that Charlotte seemed to be making an initiative on her own will to hang out with the boy. She still had some guilt on her conscience about hurting her own Little like she did, even if Juliette didn't know that Audrey was the real source of her heartbreak, but for the time being, she was going to pretend like she really believed that she was doing all of this to benefit everyone, including Juliette. A night of relaxation seemed owed to Audrey at this point, at least in her own mind, given how the past few days had went. The fight at Sunday's party seemed like a minor inconvenience after Ya Ya's show of character, and Juliette's dramatics. Those didn't even compare, though, to the workload she was dealing with this semester, and then if that wasn't enough, she was in the midst of battling her own emotional issues, after spending the entire past week being ghosted by her family.

Audrey's upbringing was unique, to say the least. On one hand, people probably marveled at her childhood and at how lucky she was to be born into such an affluent family. At the same time, it was important to note that Audrey barely knew her family because of this. She often liked to brush off her childhood as her being unlucky, and that she was just born at a strange time in her parents' lives, but it wasn't like she was an accident or drastically younger than her siblings. Her sister was four years older than her, and her brother two years older than her, so she could have grown up being close to them. Instead, however, a temporary social scandal resulted in her parents being unable to enroll Audrey in the same day school as her siblings, so as a little five year old child, she was sent to a boarding school nearly two hours away from her family. Then, when she was a teenager, she was transferred to a new boarding school in the states. As a child, it had been easier for her to return home one weekend a month of so, but once she was in the states, she got to see her family only a couple times a year. She was never homesick, but that was because her home never was a home to her, and her family were nothing more than people who she felt like she needed to have stronger connections with than she did, because of all of the social constructs in place. Audrey didn't even know why she was so upset that no one had returned her calls this week, because that intense desire for a relationship with her family was really only based upon those social constructs, and her feeling like she needed to have strong family relationships because that was the "normal" thing to have. It wasn't like she was close with any of them, and really, the phone calls she did usually have them consisted of them asking if she needed them to send her anything, maybe a bit of small talk, and then the person on the other end of the line cutting the call short due to another obligation.

She had nothing important to tell her parents, and yet the fact that she was being ignored got under her skin more than it should have. It hurt, feeling like she was just nonexistent, when she tried so hard to succeed, always, just to get a bit of recognition from them. Most of the time, she was able to spin the emotional neglect into a reason for why she needed to be better and try harder, because it meant that clearly, she wasn't trying hard enough as it was, but lately, it was harder for her to be positive when it came to herself. She knew that it was just stress, and that was why she was hopeful for tonight. She needed this to be a release for her, and with that in mind, she decided that her focus for the night would only be on her own happiness. She didn't call for a house meeting like she normally would have before all of the girls left for the carnival, to make sure to remind everyone to be on their best behavior. She didn't worry about how everyone was getting there, and whether everyone was even going. Instead, she left the house fairly quietly with two other senior Alpha girls, and drove them to get dinner with a few Beta seniors. They wouldn't get to the carnival until around seven or seven thirty, with how the timing of dinner would work out, but tonight Audrey wasn't trying to worry about deadlines or obligations or anything, for that matter.

5:00PM

Ben lay in bed, still thinking about the punishment he received because of the fight he instigated. Seventy two hours community service. That's bullshit. He knew it wasn't but Ben knew that at the rate he worked with community centers, his seventy-two hours would breeze by. Ben peered over his shoulder to the clock that hung on his wall. The time read 5 o'clock, the carnival was to start in an hour and a half and Ben still didn't know his plans for the evening. Ben pulled his phone from the charger on his bedside table and sent a text to Yaya: Are you going tonight? He knew she would more than likely be going, but he wanted to know if they were going together. The next text Ben sent was to Abby: So...are we still doing coffee? Ben sent the text and got up, getting dressed in a casual outfit.

If anyone really knew Abigail, they would know that she hardly ever missed a day of class. But today was indeed one of those days as she wanted to spend the day getting ready for the carnival. Her day consisted of finding the perfect outfit to wear, along with the shoes and purse to match. She went to shower and get herself as she felt like it was nearing close to time. As soon as she stepped out of the shower and waltzed back into her room, her phone had chimed and Ben's name scrolled across the screen. When she opened the message and read it, she couldn't help but commentate in her own mind rather she should decline his offer again or accept his offer so that they could really talk. With the shrug of her shoulders, she started to type a reply towards him.

To: Ben
I guess we can. You know where to meet me.

Ben knew that Abigail could be occasionally spotted or often spotted at the on campus Starbuck's next to the bookstore. Speaking of the bookstore, she needed to remind herself to thank Asher for taking her shift for the day. As soon she finally decided on an outfit and was ready, she reviewed herself over in the mirror and tied her hair up in a bun then grabbed her cell phone and purse then walked out of her room. "Going to get coffee! See you ladies at the carnival!" She called out as she walked out of the front door and slowly made her way towards Starbucks.

Ben made his way through the kappa house, announcing his departure on his way down the stairs, "See you guys at the carnival! I'm heading out for coffee." Ben got into his car and made his way to the Starbucks they used to normally meet in. He arrived before her, went inside and ordered a latte, before texting her to let her know he was waiting for her.

Being in one of the top sororities on campus, means that just about everything was walking distance for you. Abigail's phone vibrated in her hand as she looked down and saw Ben's name scroll across the screen and opened the message. A soft sigh escaped over her parted lips as she didn't bother to respond as she was close to the door. Once she had walked in, she went over towards Ben and stood beside him. "After all this time, you still don't remember what I get? Shame, Ben. Shame." She walked off from him and went to order a mocha frappe.

It seemed like just as soon as she placed her order, it was ready. That was clearly a sign that she came here a little bit too much. She paid the cashier and put her change in the tip jar then grabbed her frappe and walked over to the table where Ben was sitting and sat down. She took a sip from her coffee drink before her eyes fluttered up and eyed Ben. "So, Benjamin, what's up?" As if she didn't already know. Abigail was no fool and she just wanted Ben to make note of that, mentally.

Ben's insides felt as though they were churning inside of him as he waited for Abby to appear in front of him. He chose a table in the back of the cafe, facing the middle so he could keep his eye out for her. He watched people come in and out the door, before Abby finally showed. He stood to greet her, but she didn't care to be friendly, it seemed. Ben rolled his eyes to her comment about him not knowing her order by now - he knew her order, but he felt that this situation was a 'damned if you do, damned if you don't' type thing, so he didn't bother.

Ben sat back down in his seat and waited for Abby to order and grab her drink. She made her way to him, "So, Benjamin, what's up?" Ben knew damn well that Abby knew what was up, but rather than fighting it, he just sighed deeply and stared at the lip of his coffee lid. "Abby, we should talk about what happened the other day. Ya shouldn't have treated you like that, and I shouldn't have let her. I don't know if you have any feelings for me-" Ben stopped himself there. He knew there was a very slight chance that anything could've or would've happened between them, but there was no denying there was a chemistry between them. He turned his eyes from his coffee cup into Abby's eyes. "I hope I didn't hurt you. Because you mean a lot to me, you're my best friend. But Yaya and I are working on getting back together... so things are weird right now. Because of what you and I used to be like."Ben felt uncomfortable. He kept hoping his phone would go off with some sort of emergency that would require him to disappear. But alas, here he sat, waiting for Abby to speak.

Abigail nodded her head whenever Ben made the comment that he shouldn't have let Ayala treat her the way she did. She continued to listen to him as she clung onto every word that was coming from his lips. Abigail couldn't help but feel some type of way at Ben. She took a small from her drink then eyed him with a smile that slowly faded. "Ben, whatever we had or didn't have is in the past. It's okay, I know that me and you are not going to happen. I've finally came to terms with that. Plus, I already know about you and Ayala so you're not really surprising me there. You know how people like to buzz these days." She breathed for a moment before her gaze looked up and met his.

"I'm not hurt. Upset but I will get over it. Okay?" She reached out and touched his hand. "No matter what, I'll always be your friend and here if you need me." She genuinely said with a smile as she looked down at the time on her phone. "I think we should get to the carnival. Take me there?" She asked as she started to gather up her belongings and coffee. She tried her best not to show just how upset she was but she was really dying on the inside.

Ben didn't know what to say, so he said nothing. Instead, he simply nodded his head when Abby asked if Ben would take her along to the carnival. He stood from his seat, took one last large swig of his cooling latte, and proceeded towards the door. Ben held the door open for Abby, and as the duo proceeded towards his car, he sent a text to Ayala, Heading to the carnie, hope to see you there. He didn't feel the need to warn her that he'd be with Abby, they discussed the fact that they were technically single, so he was still his own man. Ben held the car door open for Abby, stuck himself in the driver seat and drove to the carnival, arriving quickly.

Arriving at the carnival, Ben parked his car, looked at Abby in the stillness of the quiet car. "You mean the world to me, Abby. That'll never change." Ben leaned over to her, leaving a gentle kiss on her cheek before stepping out of his car.

Abigail loved the way that Ben was always such a gentlemen, no matter what. It was still kind of hard not to like him because she adored so many things about him. She proceeded to follow him towards his car and smiled as he held the door open for her, which she closed once she was inside and buckled up her seatbelt. The distance towards the carnival wasn't really far but she didn't really want to walk. When Ben turned off the car and she removed her seatbelt from around her, her ears twitched at Ben's words then her eyes fluttered over towards him as he was getting out of the car.

Stunned at his words, Abby sighed and got out, as well. She trailed a few length distance behind Ben, head lowered as she looked at the ground. She wasn't feeling this carnival anymore but decided to show her face anyway, plus she had no choice but to go since she saw Ben before the event and didn't feel like answering all of 'why are you not going?' questions. As she continued to walk behind Ben, she finally lifted her head up with a smile, looking at all the rides and just taking in the scenery. Abby pulled out her cell phone and started to text the ladies.

To: Audrey, Ya ya, Naomi, Charlotte, Juliette
At the carnival! :D Any of you ladies here yet?

She placed her cell phone inside of her purse as she caught up with Ben and grabbed him by the arm, hoping to stop him as she looked up at him. She honestly didn't know what to say at this point. Abigail really wanted to pour her feelings out towards but he was back with Ayala and it would be kind of pointless right now. She stood in front of him in silence for a moment before smiling up towards him. "Since I never got my dance, which I am a little salty about still..." She chuckled softly while pointing at him. "You get to take me on the first ride. Say Ring Of Fire? Then I might forget about that night." Abigail said to him as she stood in front of him still but now with her arms folded over her chest, eyebrow raised and weight shifted to the left side of her body. "So, what's it going to be, Ben?"
