Personality:
Benjamin is a rather open and generally friendly person. He makes friends rather than enemies and is of a rather... well, I suppose you could call it soft spoken and delicate nature. However, this can quickly change when he is angered where is personality makes a sharp turn and he actually becomes quite scary. Luckily, he can keep his temper in check... most of the time Although enjoying the company of friendly people, Ben is also rather shy. He doesn't show it very often, but has a tendency to keep in the background and dislikes being in large crowds. They make him nervous. Happiest he is when home with his sister and pet, doing what he loves- drawing and writing. Ben is very poetic and romantic, always trying to find a deeper meaning in everything and to answer even the most impossible of questions. He can be quite charming when he wants to be. However, despite his elegant appearance Ben has quite a few clumsy tendencies, and has a way of sometimes expressing himself as such. Even if he usually means well, it doesn't always come out that way. As caring and fatherly and sweet as he can be, Ben does suffer from severe depression, which will peak its ugly head up now and then- sometimes just a briefly and sometimes a longer period of time. During these periods, alcohol and self harming becomes a minor (or sometimes perhaps not so minor) problem in his life. What exactly this has to do with is unknown, but it has stuck with him ever since he was a child. To sum it up he is a warm person, and although he has many troubles, he avoids showing it as much as possible. Some may consider him a 'dandy' because of how soft he is, in both speech and how he acts- but it is definitively preferable to how he acts when angry. He is a person who doesn't like to say no and always works his hardest- even if he is at the breaking point. Thinking he is never good enough and what he does doesn't do, these two traits of his often conflict... and are part of what cause his depressions. Although romance often plays a big role in his stories, Ben usually includes many other elements. They also tend to have a rather dark feel to them, and all of them usually have an underlying, deeper meaning- such as morality questions or criticisms regarding the human society etc. Benjamin his been diagnosed with aspergers syndrome and it shows especially in social situations or his tendency of having trouble reading people... plus his way of getting totally obsessed with different things during certain periods of time. When these things occur, he will learn everything about it.

History:
Benjamin was born in Kiel, Germany, by a German mother and English father. This is also where he grew up. Ben has loved to draw and telling stories for as long as he can remember. As a child, he usually preferred sitting by himself and drawing than playing with the other kids. In fact, he overall had trouble connecting to and identifying himself with them- still sometimes does today. When with his parents he would usually tell them hour long stories about everything he could come up with. You could say that Ben has quite a lovely imagination, and already did so as a child. Another activity he enjoyed was reading. He would spend hours after hours at the library- reading everything he could get his hands on. With a father who was a big science fiction and fantasy reader- many of the books Ben got to read were of those genre's. The influence that has had on him is evident in his work today. Around the age of nine Benjamin discovered anime and manga, through a friend who was a big time Pokémon fan. In the beginning, Pokémon was the only thing that held his interest. However, as he grew older the varieties in genres of anime and manga he consumed widened in all directions. As a result, Ben started actively drawing manga and at the age of fourteen, he created his first manga series together with a friend. It was just for their personal enjoyment, however, so they never published it. As time went on he tried reading and watching almost everything and enjoyed most genres, including- to his surprise- Yaoi and Shounen Ai. In fact, he liked everything having to do with romance, but there was still something with yaoi that appealed to him. Never mind that he was a curious teenager at the time and just discovering his own sexuality. However, even as his teenage years had passed his passion for romance and yaoi/shounen ai remained. That is why he decided to become a mangaka, and indeed he has been... well... not super successful but successful enough. Although he has some Yaoi and Shounen-Ai works, absolutely not all of them are that. A year ago Benjamin's parents died in a horrible car accident. As Laura (his 9 year old sister) didn't have any other close relatives, Benjamin decided to take over her custody and let her move in with him, into his small apartment. Although he does not regret his choice having a child on his hands has indeed turned Benjamin's life upside down... he no longer has as much time for working, not to mention to he has absolutely nearly no free time at all. However, he keeps going despite it all, always doing his best, always trying his hardest.
