Alex Young looked around the room and was very glad to see the room was very neat. He let out a sigh of relief. "Thank god. I was afraid I was going to have to room with a slob." he said placing his bag at the bottom of his bed, which was close to the wall. He had a plain desk, which was fine with him. "And um...David. Thank you." he said, sitting down on the bed, his gaze towards the window and the sunshine outside.
David Fererh watched him enter the room. David chuckled at his thought. "Well In that case you should have a good room mate." He says, with a smile. Leaning against the bed he watched him and nodded. "Your welcome Alex. If you ever need anything just find me." He said before leaving Alex to be alone.
Alex Young woke up due to the chirping of birds by the window. He groggily got up and ran a hand through his hair. He let out a yawn as he grabbed a pair of clean clothes and a fresh bandage before he headed of to the shower. After he got out, he looked up and saw himself staring right back at him. He felt like his throat had closed up as he saw his one eye being opened, while his other lid remained closed, hiding the missing eye. He turned away as fast as he could, and placed his gauze wrap over his left eye.
Nobuyuki Rusten had gotten to Selkin earlier in the day. After doing a few things to get his time at Selkin set away Nobi headed to his room. Opening the door he walked in to look around the room. Not noticing Alex in the bathroom he continued to move into the room, placing his bag on the bed that wasn't used and placing his suitcase beside it.
Alex Young finished getting dressed and heard shuffling around in the room, thinking it was just David checking on him he opened the door. "Hey David what brings...you...here...?" he said slower as he noticed the other boy putting his stuff away. So this must be my room mate. Alex thought to himself. The guy didn't look much happier to be there than he did.
Nobuyuki Rusten turned around as he heard Alex left the bathroom. "Morning I suppose. But no I'm not David." He said, sitting down on the bed. He kept his focus on Alex as he spoke. "If you do not already know I am Nobuyki. If you want to go ahead and call me Nobi. Alot of people call me by that name." He said stretching.
Alex Young walked over to his bed and placed his dirty clothes in the hamper at the end of his bed. His thoughts running a marathon in his head. Ok, so...I'm going to be rooming with the guy for the year....I might as well talk to him right? He asked himself before settling for a simple answer. "Alex." he said softly as he went to his dresser and grabbed his comb. He kept his back to Nobuyuki as he combed his hair, hoping to delay the questioning.
Nobuyuki Rusten stood from his bed and walked over to the window. He glanced over his shoulder as he spoke. "I don't suppose you have any rules about who has what parts of the room? If not then no need to say anything unless it becomes a problem. Though I will say if you spot my emerald laying around the room. If you misplace it you're helping me find it."
Alex Young rolled his eyes slightly. "Just keep your side clean and I'll keep mine clean. And...if you place a mirror up in the room, if you could try and keep it to where only you will be able to see it would also be nice." he said, not caring to expand on such a strange request as he turned around to face Nobuyuki. Might as well get the questioning over with. It'll make life easier on me at least. Alex thought to himself as he combed his hair once more.
Nobuyuki Rusten looked Alex over now that he faced him. "Well you won't have to worry about either of those. So that should mean no problems." He glanced over the eyepatch and tilted his head. "Interesting." He said, going to open his bag. "What school are you thinking about entering?"
"Elemental..." he said, slightly confused, yet very much so relief. It meant he wouldn't have to explain anything and that was a good thing. Maybe he wouldn't have to see David about changing rooms after all....but he wasn't counting his lucky, or more appropriately un-lucky, stars just yet.
Nobuyuki Rusten pulled out a small rounded red emerald. He sat down on the bed as he faced Alex. "If you're healing from something I could probably help that." He motions to the eye. "But either way do you have any questions for me? I suppose I should get them out of the way."
"I don't know much about alchemy but I don't think you can bring back something that is already gone." he said as he gently touched the gauze. He looked at the gem...not quite knowing what it was. "What is that?" he asked, pointing towards the gem.
Nobuyuki Rusten nodded to Alex. "I'm sorry for your injury then." He said out of some sense of respect to others he had to maintain. Nobi brought up the emerald. "It's an emerald. Suposedly my father made it and left it with my mother. Either way it was made through Alchemy and it's the only thing I hold much value in." He says, putting it down beside the bed.
Alex Young nodded as he tugged gently on the charm bracelet. "I can relate." he said as he sat down on his bed, his white jacket hanging off the post. He would make sure to not mess with the gem if at all possible. He almost wondered if the person who placed Nobuyuki decided to place them together on purpose or something.
Nobuyuki Rusten sat back against the wall. "If you want to pick it up. Go ahead, it's almost indestructible. Though it will change color depending on what you are truly feeling. Only if you want to though, most people who pick it up end up yelling at me." He says with a grin to himself.
"Nah. It's obviously important to you. Just don't mess with the bracelet and I won't mess with your gem. Which school are you entering?" he asked, feeling as if this was the most he had spoken in a week, and in all probability it was.
Nobuyuki Rusten nodded slowly at his response. "I will make sure to not touch it. Though if I should see it misplaced. Should I return it or leave it?" He asks, in all reality he was testing him. "But as far as my school. I'll be returning to Life Alchemy."
Alex Young raised his eyes to meet Nobuyukis'. "What's that?" he asked, very curious now. Nobuyuki must have been an upper classmate if he was returning.
Nobuyuki Rusten looked over to the book by Alex's bed. "If you havn't read about it yet. It's essentially the art of altering life. And in some cases creating it. Though creating is much harder to accomplish than altering. Mostly we work with plants and animals. And rarely with humans."
Alex Young felt a pang in his chest as he remembered his family. David hadn't mentioned this type of Alchemy...but David probably had a reason, and he wasn't about to judge someone who had saved him from going into the foster system.
Nobuyuki Rusten sat up as he looked Alex over. "Are you alright?" He asked in a serious tone. "Or did I say something?" Nobi had a habit of saying things that touched peoples sensitive thoughts.
Alex Young shook his head. "It's nothing...just...bad memories." he said once again pulling on the charm bracelet. "Nothing you could have avoided anyway." he shrugged.
Nobuyuki Rusten nodded and stood. "Well either way I should appologize. But I probably should say something about life alchemy. It's generally forbidden to try and create a person. And those whove tried have either died or created monsters." He says calmly.
