What if it was the last person you would expect?

What if it was the one person you hated the most?

"The world has ended Kable." The whisper just came under the radar, tumbling quickly off of the soft lips of which they had come. "There's not much we can do." There was a sound of quickening steps, the shuffle of feet, the sound of jeans rubbing together as someone ran. "They're coming."

The moon was only a quarter full, but it was enough for them to see by. They stood against a cold wall, lined up as though they were going to clear a room. One behind the other, all pointing their weapons in different directions, 360 security, just as they had been trained. There was a group of others on the wall across from them, the leaders of each group made eye contact and mid nod there was the sound of a gun shot, they all went into a crouched defensive stance except of the leader of the other group who fell limply to the ground. There was a moment of appreciation for the man that went through all of them, but then it passed, not enough time to grieve for anyone.

"Kable..." came a whisper from the back of the group, the same melodic voice from before. The owner of the name turned towards the sound. "...I don't want to die..." There was another gun shot and Kable grabbed the girl by the arm and dragged her in front of him.

"What is there to fear? Have I gotten you killed yet, Night?" The girls name fell out of his mouth in an unsure voice, he wasn't used to saying it. In this world, it was unheard of to use the word "Night", let alone claim it as your name. It's what got you killed. It's how they found you. There was silence in the darkness that wasn't there before. He knew his words had caused them, Night brushed her hand against his in a reassuring way, he ripped it away. "We have to move, we've already lost one." He nodded to the other group, letting them know they had them covered. The group took off at exceptionally high speeds and made it into a building, for the moment safe.

Kable looked back at his group, "We're not going there...I want to separate from them and go somewhere where I think we would be safer...deep into the city." He saw his teams eyes light up, fear was in all of them.

"Into the city Kable? That's suicide!" Jacob, one of his members, was the only one brave enough to speak up, to say what was on everyone's mind.

"No...I've heard about this, looked through the city," He was referring to his power, to probe others minds, he was telepathy. He spoke to them, heard them, saw them. "Where is the last place they would look for us but out in the open?" He closed his eyes, "Besides...we're going below it..." There was a cool breeze, sending Kable into shivers even though it wasn't cold to him. "We need to move now...they're closing the door." He grabbed Night's hand, dragging her through the streets, not looking back but trusting that his team would follow. Sure enough he looked into their minds and saw that they were right behind, still watching his back.

Making a sharp left into an alleyway, Kable came to an abrupt halt, thinking for just a second that he had made a wrong turn, gone the wrong way. But then the shook the thought from his mind, how could he be wrong? Looking into his mind again he was confused. Everything was all jumbled, nothing made sense. Old memories were being shoved to the surface of his mind, he was reliving his worst nightmares. "I can play games too, Kable." There was voice that came from the shadows, the body emerged only moments after. It was that of a woman, beautiful, but in a way that would scare any man. Her name was Lilith, her power; mind manipulation. She could block those that were called "Seers", she messed up what they saw, made them see what she wanted, but she could only use their own memories against them. "Come in." She stood to the side and there was a door opened into a wall, a door that wasn't there moments ago. The group looked around, unsure of what to do, but then Night stepped forward. The rest just seemed to fall into place behind her, and they made their way through the door into a darkly lit room full of music. It was a club, which is the last place any of them had expected to end up.

This is a story of vampires. Kable is the leader of the group called "Assassins". They are the elite, they are the Pure. In this world, there are three types of people. The Dead, the Pure, and Innocents. The dead, are the vampires that have fallen, nothing but bodies of what used to be humans, that strive off of the blood of innocents. There is the Pure, thsoe are the vampires that fight the Dead, but also fight their need for blood. They were the originals, the want to help the Innocents.. the Innocents are the humans, those that are left, that are fighting to live through each night. Some of them trust the Pure, others, do not.
