Name: Derek Mansfield
Gender: Male
Age: 28
Archetype: Betrayer
Personality: Warm, cheerful and a seemingly down to earth kind of guy. Derek seems to be an all round top notch man who would do anything for his fellow man. Derek holds himself with confidence and stoic bravery. He's there when you least expect it and always ready to lend a hand and push you on when you need the motivation. He won't leave anyone behind, not even if it puts him in danger. Derek truly does seem to be the ultimate companion when the world has gone down in flames and you need someone besides you to keep going. Although sometimes his humour can be lost in translation, he's not very good with the punchline.
One thing can be said about Derek though that often strikes people as odd. He refuses to talk about his personal history. The way he acts it's almost as if he doesn't have one. He's also very careful to tip toe around the subject of what exactly happened to himself when the outbreak happened. But hey! How could you really question someone who gives you all the help you need.
Three Skill Sets:
Sheer Strength: Derek is a big man. Muscular, lean and ready to clock the worst of enemies fair across the face. If you need a door removed, kicked in or smashed, Derek will gladly step up to the plate. Balling his fists tight, his punch packs a wallop that, with any luck, will knock you back three months ago. His kick is something you don't want to be on the receiving end of either. If you're struggling with the hassles of an enemy in your grill, Derek will kick, punch and double tap the shit out of whatever made you cry. "Never fear coz' Derek's here"
Fortitude: Derek will stick it out through thick and thin to make sure he and others get out of this alive. Forced to survive in the most dire situations, Derek is well aware that to keep going means to keep wanting to go on. When you're just about ready to pack it in Derek will lift you up and throw you the rest of the way. His fortitude and willingness to continue living is enough for at least seven people.

History Since December 21st 2012:
There's something not quite right with Derek Mansfield. Sure, he's helpful and willing to aid anyone in survival, but there a moments when it's just not genuine. It's like he's got an agenda for the other survivors, like he's planning something. No records can be found in regards to him prior to the outbreak in the American Quarantine zone. That's not really a concern per se, he was definitely within the city when the attack went down, there's CCTV footage of him and he does appear to own an apartment on the eastern bank of the Styx.
According to the footage off of Paradome's archives Derek was unknowingly at ground zero when Paradome unleashed their terror onto America. Working as a construction worker on the underground sewer systems, it is apparent according to footage A has found, that Derek seems to be one of the first citizens to see the effects of Paradome's evil. Derek witnessed the underground leak of the viral attack and was forced to survive from the very get go.
When the explosion of infected gas rocked the tunnel system of the sewers he was working on, Derek had to run for his life as the tunnel around him began to collapse. Barely making out of the sewers and into the streets alive, it was above ground Derek noticed no one had seen, felt or heard a thing. Frantically trying to call people to his aid, Derek was ignored as his story seemed impossible. It wasn't until moments later that the infectious cloud that was to turn a nation on it's head wafted ominously from below out into the air.
Derek watched in horror as the gas instantly choked those around him, killing them and then reanimating their corpses. People suddenly began to eat one another as the cloud dispersed and Derek realised whatever had turned the people around him into maniacs had somehow not affected him. Derek made the decision to run for his life, and eventually made it back to his apartment on the eastern side of Lassidus, across the styx.
At some point the CCTV footage around Lassidus and the quarantine zone went down. It wasn't until 24 hours later, after the quarantine wall was set up and Lassidus and the suburbs and even some countryside and Lonsdale forest were trapped in that Derek was spotted again; this time Derek seemed to be well equipped for the nightmare that had taken hold. Kitted out with kevlar vest, knee protection and boots, A has no doubt that there is more than meets the eye when it come to Derek... But he's one of the only willing survivors left.
