a character in “Blood of the Immortals”, as played by Zentose

Description

Isaac Henshawe

Image
Role: Baker
Gender: Male
Age: 27
Appearance: Isaac was well-fed his entire life, he did own the only bakery in town, so he always had a good solid build, and will forever now. His skin is smooth and has a healthy color to it. He kept his hair relatively short and unkempt, and he has a slight beard, but nothing really thick(something he hated from the past century). He is relatively handsome and has a good bone structure, thanks to his diet growing up.
Preferred clothing: Isaac usually wears a simple button-up shirt, of different colors, with black slacks and a black coat. Nothing extravagant, and nothing uncomfortable.
Height: 6' (182.88cm)
Weight: 160 lbs. (72.56 kg)
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Blue

Personality: In the beginning of Isaac's life, he was happy, loved everything about, pretty much everything, and continued living like this throughout the first few centuries of his life. He always chose to see the good in things, but when he started to move around, started seeing horrible things over and over again, that was when he started to become a bit cynical. To this day, he has gone through worse times than most, and better times as well, yet he is cynical and pessimistic, but all together is still a nice guy. willing to help, if he has no doubts, and is always there for those who gain his trust.

Likes: Night, the full moon, stargazing, justice, and pain
Dislikes: Bitter and spicy food, rapists, and children
Fears: Hospitals and dying

Skills: Isaac's only skill before becoming immortal was his ability to read, uncommon in that era, and ride a horse very well, but once he learned of his immortality, he decided to gain multiple talents and abilities. He learned to wield a sword in 1543, and kept up practice with it, so as not to lose skill. He also learned how to cook gourmet meals in 1949, and keeps up practice with it. He learned how to use artillery in the mid-1800s, but gave up on using the skill not long afterwards. learned how to be a blacksmith in 1523 and hasn't used the skill in a VERY long time. Learned about many healing herbs in the mid 16th century, hasn't used it much since then. He can also speak Prussian, German, Polish, English, French, and some Native American Languages, most of them he cannot call upon quickly, but some are like second nature to him. He also got a degree in medicine in 1998.

Weapon(s): He carries an 8'' (20 cm) carving knife with him everywhere, you never know when you'll need it, but his weapon of choice is a 2' 7'' (78.74 cm) Walloon Sword, the handle is gilded with a few rubies in it, and the blade is steel, with the words "To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life."

History: Isaac was born the son of a baker, his father was never poor, thanks to the hungry traders that went through the town of Corebrook. Isaac was destined to become a baker as well, but sadly, he was more clever than that. He learned to read and write at the monastery, and thought of becoming a monk, until he fell for a girl. He had seen the girl, named Nathalie(he grandfather was French), and even played with her a bit, but when he became a bit older, he fell in love with her. After a long while convincing both his parents and hers to allow them to wed, he married her when they were both 15 years old. They lived happily for many years and had two children. She was the first to catch the plague, and she died soon after, followed by both of their children... He cursed the gods for allowing him to live, yet no death came...

Once the Silver-haired girl came to town and granted everyone immortality, Isaac had no reason to accept, yet no reason to refuse either. When he became immortal, somehow, something changed him, seeing as he had eternity ahead of him, he decided not to remain sad and pathetic, but to life on as he normally did, but carrying his wife and children in his heart as he went through the centuries...

After the village scattered, Isaac moved to London and got a job at an Inn as a Bartender. In 1381, he joined in the Peasant's revolt, and for the first time, experienced death at the hands of the British Militia. In the 15th century, Isaac moved to Cardiff, once it was burnt down he aided in the rebuilding and eventually set up a bakery. After a decade, Isaac became bored, and left the town. He started exploring the entire country. In 1533 he returned to London, he lived there as a blacksmith, and after 10 years he joined the military and learned to use a sword. After three years he moved to Bristol and learned to sail, planning on going to the New World. Sadly his plan was cut short by the Marian persecutions, Isaac was burned at the stake for defending some protestants. Thankfully they disposed of his body before he regenerated, but it still hurt, a lot. Isaac moved back to London and learned how to be an Apothecary. He eventually joined the British Navy and aided in destroying the Spanish Armada in 1588.

Isaac moved back to Bristol for a few decades, then moved to London and joined the Virginia Company, and in 1607 moved to the New World and helped found Jamestown. After about a decade living in Jamestown, he left and began exploring the wilderness, interacting with the natives, and loving the hell out of being in the free wildlife. He didn't return to civilization until 1709, he had explored for a hundred years, and now was curious what had changed. He returned to a British Colony in the North, and took a ship back to England. After a few more years of living in the changed environment, he moved to Prussia, which is where he got his Walloon Sword. He moved around that area and lived there for awhile, but moved to France in 1732. He lived there and eventually rose to be a self-proclaimed bourgeoisie. He studied French law and helped a few people out, until the French Revolution in 1789. Isaac was in Paris when it first began, aiding in the attack on the Bastille. During the Reign of Terror, he tried to stop the pointless beheadings, which led to his own execution. Luckily, just like when he was burned at the stake, he regenerated after everyone thought he was dead and no one was around to know otherwise. He ran from the City and returned to the New World, now the United States of America. He lived as any other man in the first half of the 19th century, he even learned how to use artillery.

But living for so long, everything was boring to him. His psyche broke away, and eventually he started committing suicide in increasingly painful ways for the rest of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th. He strapped himself to train tracks, shot himself in the head, lit himself on fire, got someone to cut out his heart and throw it in a lake, he drowned himself, he did many, many, things to himself, until 1920, when a woman stopped him from lighting a stick of dynamite in his mouth. They became friends, her name was Abigail. The two became good friends, but never romantically involved. Isaac, as well as every other white American, was gaining a lot of money in the 1920's, for work, he taught people to speak different languages, since he knew Prussian, German, Polish, English, French, and some Native American Languages. When the great Depression hit, Abigail was married to a, now destitute, stock broker, who ended up committing suicide after trying to kill Abigail. Isaac took Abigail away from the town they lived in and took her to Chicago. By then she realized that Isaac didn't age, but didn't bother asking about it. Abigail was gunned down during a Mafioso fight, and Isaac joined the family that was attacked, it just happened to be Al Capone, they slaughtered the opposing family and Isaac stayed with them for a long while.

Once World War II started, Isaac joined the American army, he participated in multiple battles and died multiple times as well. After the war was over, Isaac started to write books about the past from the point of view of someone who was actually there, which he was... With every decade he lived it became harder and harder to stay under the radar, so he did used a lot of money to have fake birth certificates made, and after 23 years he would start using it for about 10 years, then would move onto another one. For the rest of the century he was enthralled with the technological advancements and other things, but continued to write books under multiple fake names until the 1990s.

Isaac decided to go to college and get a degree in medicine, he graduated in 1998, and subsequently went to a hospital and in 2002 he finished his residency and had to move on to another fake ID. He started to study his own biology, and after ten years of study, discovered absolutely nothing different from himself and a normal human. He then moved to Europe and started to live there on the remainder of his money, which was quite a bit since he didn't eat much, didn't live well, and didn't have a family to care for. In 2022 A Isaac started to notice some of the people from Corebrook with their hearts cut out on the news, he started to track down the Immortals and figure out who it was that was mercilessly slaughtering his old friends...

So begins...

"Well then..." Agent Forester said, surprise definite in his voice, "Well I will go around to each team and give them the list of possible victims then..."

He handed Isaac a single piece of paper, on it were ten useless names, he scoffed then walked over to October as the Agent passed out all the papers. Isaac smirked and said, "I wonder what they're all thinking..." He chuckled then continued his thought, "Well, let's go to your car, we can talk more there, it'll be more private," he winked at her to annoy her, then started walking towards the door.

((Sorry about the way, been super busy >.<))

October's face continued to turn red as the eyes were still on her. It seemed to be an eternity before they all turned to look at the papers Agent Forester had been passing out to them. She snatched the paper from him, folded it, and placed it in her pocket. She was annoyed with him for singling her out, but also for winking at her. The group was going to think something was up! She almost forgot about Roger as she stormed out of them room, but then came back for him. Once they were outside the doors to the special "cop only" hall, she took off the blindfold and handcuffs. "There. You're free," she said and turned to walk away. She texted her "boss" about Roger and said that she had already solved the case and that the mugger's name was Michael Freedman. He was a construction worker that recently got laid off. The stock he had crashed as well making him lose money. In a drunken rage, he would attack stock workers and steal their money as well as expensive things he could either keep or sell. She walked towards the mustang and tried to open the door. Locked. She fumbled with the keys and they fell to the ground. She sighed and laid her head on the side of her car. Frustration wasn't graceful. Not even after 700 years of practice.

"Thanks," Roger said to October, blinking as his eyes adjusted to the florescent lights of the station. "For everything," he added, watching her texting his way to freedom.

Hands in pockets, he followed the other two to October's mustang. It was past midnight, and Roger could already see the barest hints of the sun coming up. "So much for sleep," he muttered to himself. The market will be open in no time, and life will continue on as usual. But what about these two? He glanced at October and Isaac. So, they're going to be scouring New York City's streets for this killer, eh? Well, good luck to them.

He watched October fumble and drop her keys. With a small smile at October's frustration, he bent down to pick them up. Holding them out to her, Roger glanced at the mustang. It wasn't the best car out there, and wasn't in the best condition either. Hm...

"You two have a place to stay? I've got a few spare bedrooms at the penthouse if you need it," Roger said, looking at the two of them. I mean, it's the least I can do, right?

October seemed quite angry, he didn't mean to be hurtful, but it was the most interesting way to announce it. But now, he felt bad... Then Roger asked, "You two have a place to stay? I have a few spare bedrooms at the penthouse if you need it."

"Well she has an apartment and-" Isaac began, about to say that she had offered and he'd already accepted, but seeing as she was already annoyed with him, it might have been best to go with Roger, but then he thought for a moment more. Roger is much more likely to be the killer than October, he seems to be a businessman maybe the erratic locations of the killings weren't just when he found them, but the locations of business trips... After a couple seconds of thought, Isaac finished his thought, "...and personally, I would much prefer a penthouse than an apartment." He looked at October, hoping she would realize that he thought of Roger as a suspect, and meant no offense to her...

October took the keys from Roger without looking up and unlocked the car. She climbed in a sat there trying to calm down. It wasn't really that she was frustrated with Isaac himself. She was really just embarrassed and was frustrated with herself for the way she handled it. She laid her head back against the seat, half listening to the others. When Roger offered up his spare rooms, she was about to answer, but Isaac beat her to it. And not in a way she would've liked. She tensed as he answered Roger saying he would room with him. That made her even more frustrated, almost down right pissed off, but this time, it was aimed at him. She didn't even bother looking at them. She put the keys in the ignition, turned on the engine, and placed her hands on the steering wheel. "Yes. I have an apartment. I'm sorry I'm a seventeen-year-old immortal forced to relive her high school days for all eternity. Now if you don't mind, I would like to return to that apartment now. If you would like a ride, get in. If not, step back or I will run over your feet." She knew she was probably being rude, but she had already offered and he had already accepted to stay with her. She slammed the door shut and waited for them to climb in.

((Honestly, this is how I'd react in rl if this ever happened to me. @_@))

Roger winced at the sound of October slamming the car door. That didn't go very well. October seemed ready to kill. Isaac, in particular. Roger's eyebrows furrowed. Why would Isaac agree to his offer if he had other arrangements? Not only was it rude, but it seemed seriously out of character. Roger knew Isaac wasn't the kind of guy to rebuff someone in their face. But I guess people change over the years. Well, I guess I can't leave him hanging, can I? Frowning, he opened the back door of the car.

"I guess you'll stay with me then," Roger said as he slipped inside, not looking at the other man.

October was even more angry than Isaac thought she would be. Well I guess she didn't get the message... Oh well, no time to mend this wound I have to be suspicious of everyone... I'll tell her when I feel the time is right... Isaac thought to himself, getting into the passenger seat of the car. Isaac put on his seatbelt and opened his computer pad.

"Okay, so let's ignore the list that Interpol gave us, obviously none of them are victims," Isaac said, flipping through files on the pad, "I made a makeshift list of Immortals in the city, I know there are more, but this was all I could find out. Well, first up I should ask you guys how many immortals you know in the city...?"

October thought for a moment. She wasn't entirely sure talking was a good idea for her. Not until she had cooled off. That wasn't likely going to happen with them in the car. She knew a handful of Immortals in NYC alone, but in New York itself she knew maybe 12. They were a dying breed. Literally. The murderer is killing them off. One by one. Picking them off like flies. The thought gave her a sick feeling in her stomach. So much so she had to lay her head against the steering wheel for a moment at the stop light. Dying wasn't something she was yet ready for. Yes, she was tired of reliving her high school days in every decade in many different places. Sure, she missed not having a permanent friend, or even someone she could really talk about her secrets with. And yes, she was tried of watching the couples making out at school and wishing she was one of them. She was lonely and tired of the same old thing, but she wasn't ready or willing to die. Let alone be killed. After a few deep breaths she finally answered. "In New York, I know 12. In New York City I know 5. The others are spread around."

[He... My bad. I made a really stupid technological mistake which basically obliterated my internet... yah... And welcome and hello, Vesenia! Nice of you to join us :)]

Roger scratched his chin absentmindedly, frowning at the feeling of course stubble. When was the last time he'd shaved? Too long, obviously. He looked up after hearing October reply from the front. He was surprised. For one, he expected that anything October would say in the next few hours would be biting and sarcastic. The girl's learned control Second, the number of immortals living in the city. He hadn't been in contact with any of them for the past decade, except for Elise, who lived in Germany. Wait a second... Roger remembered something from a few months back. Reading Time's Magazine, he'd noticed the small list of credits at the bottom of the page.

"I remember seeing something made by Seavers in the paper. Cedric Seavers. He's supposed to be working somewhere in the city. Never got the chance to get in contact with him though," Roger said, trying to remember how young farmer had looked the last time they'd seen each other. He couldn't bring up a face.

"Don't know about anyone else," Roger said, leaning back against the worn out leather of the car seat.

"Cedric... Oh yeah I remember him... I never really talked to that family much, I heard some bad stories about his mom from my old man... can't really remember what they were, been so long..." Isaac said, opening the internet and searching for his name, and Time's Magazine. It took a few moments, but Isaac got the address of an advertisement agency that he supposedly worked at, "Got it, he works in an advertisement agency not far as an illustrator, October you remember anything about Cedric? He was closer to your age than ours'..." Isaac hoped she wouldn't take this as an insult, being eternally their younger and all... Damn, I should have worded that differently... Isaac thought.

October's hands tightened on the wheel. She was beginning to lose control, which is odd for her. You'd think living for so long would improve one's self control. It had for her, but apparently with all that was happening, she was beginning to feel stressed out which was making her irritable. She sighed and ran a frustrated hand through her hair as she listened to Roger and Isaac. "Yes, I remember Cedric," she answered them, "We used to play when we were kids. The farmer's boy right?" There weren't many Cedrics in the villiage. In fact, she was sure there had been only one, but since she didn't know everyone in the village, she couldn't be sure. "Where do you want me to take you guys?" she asked, trying to keep her voice calm. They were almost to the area of her apartment. Any closer, and there was no way she was going to go anywhere, but home.

"Yeah, what he said," Isaac said starring out the window. He saw a woman being mugged down an alleyway, and dozens of people seeing, no one doing anything. God I hate mortals... He thought to himself, sighing. He turned his gaze back to October and said, "So, do you know where the other immortals live, or if they use their own names?" Isaac was planning to get to as many of the Immortals in as short a time as possible, eliminating as many suspects as possible in as little time as possible.

October thought a moment before answering Isaac. She kept a mental note of the street name Roger had told her to turn on. She knew where only two of the other immortals lived, but she knew where to find the others. When you've lived as long as the immortals have, routine just becomes.. well routine. She knew four of them kept their names, or made small changes to them (like changing the spellings). She saw them and said "hello" from time to time, but she didn't hold a lengthy conversation with any of them. She told Isaac what she knew. "Four have either kept their names or made small changes to them over the years. I know where two live and I know where we can find the rest."

Isaac placed his hand on his cheek, deep in thought about where to proceed. Well I suppose the best way to do this would be to split up, but I'm still not wholly convinced that Roger is innocent, I suppose it could be October too... no the one witness said it was a man... ignoring the conversation in his head he said, "Okay, looks like the best option would be to go to Cedric first, then find the immortals we're definitely sure of..."
