Evelyn Gray's Story

"I'm late!" Evelyn cried in near hysterics as she looked at her blinking alarm clock, "it must have unplugged the night before! Oh no!" Heart pounding Evelyn struggled to squirm into her change of clothes and hiking boots.
"I hope the parents had someone to let them in." She whispered, the sheer idea of a group of outraged parents standing outside the mess hall demanding their money back was enough to make her heart jolt. Piling into her car Evelyn speed across town to the tiny little haven she'd grown up at, the leisure of childhood slowly crept back to her, and replaced the fearful expression on her face, with bliss.
"Nothing to awful happened." She sighed now calmly getting out of her car and dragging her luggage and paperwork to the mess hall, she'd glanced around at the campers, developing some first impressions and smiling at returning campers, calling a few by name.
"You'd better get to your cabin soon!" Her boss chuckled, and Evelyn agreed. The best part of the year had come, meeting her cast of kids that hopefully, she could help for the better, there was nothing but joy in this...okay maybe there's a little fear and anxiety and pressure, but Evelyn was an adult! She didn't have time for that. So to make haste, she left the crowding mess hall and started out toward the main cabin she'd be working in. Once laying eyes on some of the girls standing outside and chilling inside she smiled, it appeared that she had a very different set from last year, and this summer was sure to be interesting.
"Hello campers!" She called excitedly hoping for some kind of response.

The green-haired girl sat up on her bed and crossed her legs. She shrugged and looked down at her lap. Valkyrie hadn't been very good with talking to boys. But when she did, the ones that were nice had become close friends. It could go either way.
The other girl stated that she'd go.
"Okay," She finally replied, placing her sketchbook down beside her, then climbed down from the high bed. At that moment, she could hear someone outside the cabin greeting them. She glanced at the others and pondered over what to do.

Ellie smiled at the counselor who just walked in, "Hi! I'm Ellie! Is it okay if we go say hi to the guys in the cabin next to us?"
She jumped off the top bunk making a louder thump than expected. She walked towards the camp counselor and smiled, while brushing some dirt off her white shorts and green tank top.

The smile the crossed Evelyn's face present a range of emotions from happiness to amusement, "It's nice to meet you Ellie, I'm Evelyn!" She gave a nervous chuckle, she didn't want a bad first impression with the campers, especially because she arrived tardy, "You're all welcome to go visit the boys in their cabin, but just remember if you go into any rooms you must prop the door open with a chair! Nothing against you guys, just camp policy." Evelyn smiled looking at the lot of them,
"Before you all go off the make tons of new friends I just thought I'd remind you all we meet for dinner in the mess hall, and a camp agenda discussion tonight at 5 so please don't be late!...And if you guys want first grab at pizza, you might want to get there more around four fifty, the line ends up winding around the building if you get there late. If you all need anything else let me know." Evelyn felt her cheekbones hurt as she'd been unintentionally smiling for the past spiel. She chuckled quietly to herself before waiting to see what the girls did next.

Valkyrie smiled at the nice gesture that the counselor made towards the girl named 'Ellie'. She listened to the information provided and climbed down from her tall bed. When she reached the ground, she smiled at Evelyn and nervously said, "Hello, I'm Valkyrie."
She thought it was okay to start a conversation with this person because she seemed very nice. After greeting the woman, Valkyrie followed Ellie out of the cabin.

Ellie was delighted by the counselor's kindness. She stood next to Valkyrie while they all talked to Evelyn but soon she felt slightly awkward because she didn't know what to say.
"Well thanks, Evelyn," she smiled and motioned for the other two girls in the cabin to follow her outside. She was already starting to like this camp, but she was really curious about the guys.
Once all the girls were outside and heading towards the boy's cabin she looked at the two girls and smirked at Isabelle,
"So what's your name?" she giggled repositioned her glasses so they sat properly on her face.

"It's nice to meet you Valkyrie. I really like you're hair." True delight rested in that comment, she was very fond of exotically colored hair, but before she really got a chance to get the whole sentence out the girls were whisked out and preparing to venture over in to the boys Cabin. Chuckling quietly Evelyn whispered to herself,
"Thus it beings." She knew exactly how the girls felt, she'd been a camper and nothing was more fun than scouting out the boys, even if camp didn't last forever the idea of a summer love always amused her. In the midst of unpacking her own items in a small room taking whatever bunk had been left unoccupied it crossed her mind that she hadn't checked if the boys instructor was there, but she laughed at the notion that other camp workers may be running behind schedule, everyone here loved their jobs and probably got up an hour or so early just to get to camp and enjoy a little time to themselves.

Evelyn had been sitting in the Mess Hall a majority of the time, watching campers, ensuring no food got tossed across the hall, no fights broke out, and that everything was peachy keen. She did note;however, that her camper Isabelle was missing, and her other camper Sierra hadn't shown up yet. Taking just a couple more minutes to savor the first nights pizza she brushed off her lap and awkwardly squirmed out between two people,
"Sorry!" She laughed, hobbling to catch her balance. Noise, noise, noise, the room was filled with it. She contemplated going over to her campers, and announcing to them that there would more than likely be some type of ice breaker activity tonight, but right now she was more concerned with where her other two campers were. So she made her way to here cabin of many, she opened the door to see Isabelle cocooned up. A bit of sympathy curled around Evelyn, she looked so peaceful and to disturb her seemed criminal, but nevertheless, she didn't want anyone starving,
"Isabelle," She started, "I'm sorry to wake you, but I just thought you should know last call at the Mess Hall is in half an hour, so be sure to head on over there at some point unless you want to be hungry all night." Evelyn gave a lop-sided frown, looking at Isabelle and feeling sorry she woke her up.

Smiling, Sam made his way into the mess hall, having just cleaned out the abseiling station.
Wiping his greasy hands on his trousers - from rigging the holder - he grabs an apple off the side, grinning a 'thanks' at Carris, the dinner lady.
He looks around, not spotting Evelyn and so taking a seat with a group of kids whom had just joined the camp.
"Hey campers," He smiles, turning on his charm once more, "nice to see you up bright and early. I'm Sam - The Boy's instructor."
Sam turns to the male of the group, noticing his purple hair.
"Yes, that does mean I'll be getting you guys up at an 'ungodly hour' everyday," Sam laughs, taking a bite of his apple, "welcome to camp Getaway."

While waiting for Isabelle to hopefully get up and eat Evelyn took note that one bed had suddenly been occupied.
"That must be Sierra's." She declared happily waiting for a response back from Isabelle, she got none, but she figured perhaps it was better to not keep pestering the sleeping gal, it was only the first day and after a little bit longer she figured everyone would fall into the mess hall motions. If Isabelle woke up hungry, Evelyn could be positive she could grab her some food from the kitchen. A new thought arose though, if Sierra's stuff arrived...so did Sierra! After a brief flash of excitement Evelyn shut the cabin door and began back to the mess hall, I must have walked right past here! she thought, wrongly assuming that Sierra had gone to the mess hall. She re-entered the loud and packed mess hall, and scanned the room. Finding Sierra seemed suddenly more daunting than once thought,
"Oh gosh." She groaned a little displeased, "I hope I didn't lose someone already." Thinking again Evelyn hoped one of the other girls would have seen her. She could hear that sweet and bubbly voice of Ellie somewhere in the crowd, she figured if anyone had seen her it would be that social butterfly. Though upon spotting her Evelyn found herself almost squealing as she saw who was at Ellie's table. As camp years rolled by the kids left, and it seemed like you lost someone almost every year, but here is someone you didn't lose. Once casually making her way to the table, in a nice fast-walk fashion Evelyn poked his shoulder casually and held the stupidest smile she had. Waiting for him to turn around.

Sam smiled at Ellie before feeling a poke on his shoulder.
Spinning around he was glad to see it was Evelyn, the only person whom had stayed long enough for him to make friends with.
"Hey," He laughed, poking her arm and then looking back at the kids, "I reckon you've already met everyone?"
An idea then forms in his head and he jumps up, once again wiping his, still greasy hands on his trousers and then looking at them.
"Abseiling?" He grins, looking back at the 'kids', "You guys wanna?" He asks, not really allowing an apply "Ok! Let's go."

Evelyn chuckled, Sam seemed to swing right back into the camping zone, and abseiling definitely did not sound like a bad idea at all,
"Hope no one has a fear of heights." She joked before remembering her original intent in coming to the mess hall,
"I was wondering, have any of you seen the new girl in our cabin? She got her sometime this afternoon and I haven't been able to find her. Her names Sierra, if that helps at all." Evelyn blushed a bit mildly embarrassed that Sam now knew that within the first few hours of camp Evelyn had already lost a camper.

Hiro nodded at Jeff and listened to the conversations that pursued. He got that a girl was already missing. a girl by the name of Sierra. He didn't know her, but the fact that no one can find her in the little time we've been here is a little bit scary. "We should probably actively look for her if she's really missing. It would be bad on the camp if anything bad were to happen on the first day." he said and looked around to see what everyone else thought of his idea. With the small group they had they could probably cover a lot of ground and still have at least groups of two. Then he noticed the girl that Ellie had pointed out and let out a bit of a sigh. "well at least she was found very quickly. "Hey!" he called out "Are you Sierra?" he smiled warmly and invited her over to sit with them

Seeing a confused looking girl toward the front of the Mess Hall Evelyn gave a sigh of relief,
"Yes that's probably her." Smiling Evelyn felt the calm rush back over her and suddenly the mellowness came back as she heard a very level headed boy named Hiro call out to her. She seriously dug his hair. During this time Evelyn noted Ellie's less than enthusiastic reply,
"You don't have to go abseiling if you don't like Ellie." Evelyn held eye contact with her, wanting to make sure she didn't feel the least bit uncomfortable, "you could go back to the cabin with Isabelle if you want, but then again. Isabelle may not want company." Evelyn nodded to herself, yes Isabelle seemed not to want company at all, "I could teach you how to belay if you like. No heights required."

Isabelle
Isabelle was about to get up and punch whoever woke her, but realized it was Evelyn before she did and instead just sat up and stretched. The woman seemed to notice the new campers things and was looking for her. Isabelle looked at the inviting bed, but decided she'd probably annoyed enough people by sleeping so long. Getting up, Isabelle walked out of the cabin. She considered going to the mess hall, but wasn't really hungry. Still...
Making her way to the mess hall, she spotted Evelyn, and then some guy she hadn't seen before with the other campers. For some reason, Isabelle got the feeling she wouldn't be getting along with him, and attempted to back away without being noticed.

Alex
Alex rolled his eyes at Andy, who was teasing him. Though he/she was right, he wasn't just going to get up and go over there. Sitting up, he decided he really wasn't all that tired. "Hmm, don't worry about that," he said, referring to the sticking around comment. Thinking of something to do, Alex grabbed his guitar and began to fiddle around with it, not really playing anything in particular. "Should we do anything? I feel like the others are gonna give me a hard time for liking it inside the cabin," he said absently.
