Eden's Story

Eden furrowed her eyebrows, then nodded in agreement. "That's a good point, Skyler. Very smart," she said, striding off in the direction of said spring. 

Once there, she made quick work of taking her clothes off and slipping into the chilly water. She shivered and dunked under to get used to the cold. As soon as she was adjusted to the temperature, she perished through her hair, picking out dried blood. She did the same with her paws until she was sure everything was clean. She had kept the clothes out of the water and spot cleaned them after, until they were clear of blood as well. Then, Eden slipped back into her dark shirt and pants and proceeded to head back to where Skyler had been waiting. It had been a tedious task, but she hoped she hadn't kept him too long. 

Opening his left eye as Eden walked up to him, her shirt still dripped water from it as she stood there waiting for him. Skyler chuckled "All clean?" he spoke as he pushed himself off of the tree walking toward the spring dropping down to his knee, leaning forward sniffing the dirt crawling forward sniffing the floor some more. Skyler hated how he would have to hunt, like a actual wolf in the wilderness chasing down his pray. Standing up tall and brushing some of the dirt off from the tip of his nose Skyler looked to Eden " I apologize for that, I looked silly I know. But their should be a pack of deer roaming in that direction" Skyler said pointing east of them, stretching out his arms and legs "About 400 meters, try to keep up" Skyler spoke softly sprinting off in that direction down on all fours he moved like a wild animal that just has been released from its cage. Getting closer and closer, as the fresh smell of the deer crept closer flying up is nostrils slowing down 50 meters away coming to a halt as the smell of humans came about. "God damn it" Skyler said to himself as he drew heavy breaths

Slowly walking through the brush, Skyler caught a glimpse at the human that were stalking the same set of deer. The grown man sat in the bushes ahead with his rifle drawn ready to shoot the deer, dropping down to all fours slowly moving taking precise steps skyler hooked his arm around the humans neck slowly cutting of the oxygen till the man collapsed. The deer were not disturbed by the silent assault so Skyler sat and wait for Eden to join him.

Eden shot into a tree, preferring to pounce on her prey from above rather than on the same level. Another one of her habits. She managed to keep Skyler in her sights as she hopped from tree to tree. She saw the deer, but noticed that Skyler had stopped. Then, she smelled the human. Her first instinct was to launch herself at the man and tear him to pieces so he wouldn't interrupt their hunt, but she saw that Skyler had taken care of it bloodlessly. Eden shrugged and dropped from the tree, landing softly beside him. She looked up and eyed the deer, instincts beginning to kick in. 

"Lets see who hunts better" Skyler spoke with a joking tone in his voice "their are ten deer, lets see who kills the most. If you win, I'll do whatever you ask of me for a day. But if I win you have to try and fix my bad hair" he continued with a smile taking off quickly pouncing onto the back of the first deer ripping his claws into its exposed neck tearing a main vain open bleeding it out. Kicking off the back of that deer taking 3 more out in the same fashion, as a hunter Skyler was flashy although he could have quickly killed the deer it was better to enjoy yourself. Laughing as he looked to Eden he chased the deer that were escaping. "Four down" Skyler thought as he frantically hunted down the last six as he knew if he only killed two more he would win the little game that he had started. If he transformed it would make the game unfair so he continued in his normal state moving pretty quickly.

Eden took off after the six deer who were running for their lives. She was determined to win, if not only for the sake of winning. She leapt ahead of one of the deer, jabbing a claw through its eye. She didn't wait to see the animal drop. Eden sliced the head off another, which startled the one next to it, making it slow. This allowed her to dispatch this one as well. Three. One more and they'd be even. The next one, she leapt in front of it like the first and slit its throat. Eden smiled. Now she and Skyler were even. Feeling pleased, she held her head up and tried to catch the scent of the two that had made it deeper into the woods. 

"Nope" Skyler said smiling as he ran past her brushing his hand against her cheek, than turning taking off a head of her slightly transforming his arm as he jumped ontop of the deer ripping its head off. Losing his footing falling over the lifeless body, getting his back slammed into the base of a tree from the sudden stop. As his vision blurred for a second, Skyler jogged forward weakly the deer was pretty long gone at the pace he was moving at. Grunting and slightly crying out in pain, Skyler leaned forward and sprinted on all fours catching up to the deer in a few minutes, it might have been to late to claim the last kill winning the competition. Pulling his hands back he leaps for the kill.

She stood there for a few moments, the spot where Skyler's hand touched her face tingling. Eden shook her head and sprinted after him. She was dismayed to see the disembodied head of one of the deer. Only one left. A small growl escaped her as she leapt over roots and rocks in pursuit of Skyler and the last deer. Unfortunately, she had yet to catch sight of him for the thick woods. She picked up the pace, realizing the hopelessness of her situation. When she finally saw Skyler, he was already attacking the final deer. Game over. Eden scowled, crossed her arms, and leaned against a tree. Slowly, a smile broke out on her face. At least she'd gotten to kill something. All was well with Eden. 

Digging his claws into the neck of the last deer Skyler took it down, letting out a triumphant roar as he fell ontop of it as it hit the ground. The thought instently popping up into his head, maybe ten was to much glancing at the downed deer and dragging its body over toward Eden smiling "It seems that I win this one, maybe next time cuti..." Skyler quickly cut himself off before he uttered those words awkwardly grinning as he picked up five of the ten deer strutting back to their new home smiling with his new catch. "We hunt well together." Skyler said with a gentle glance, trying to keep all the dead deer bunched up as he walked. Reaching the springs where Eden had bathed at Skyler dunked each of the five deer under the water washing away the blood and dirt before heading back to their home. Looking fully ahead while Eden followed feeling a bit uncomfortable from what he had said earlier, reaching the doors to the warehouse he dropped the dinner waiting for Eden to catch up.

Pulling up the loading docks door and throwing the deer into the room, "Me and Eden brought some grub." Skyler spoke with a large smile. He was honestly impressed with how Eden handled herself while she hunted, no being as fast or as strong Skyler had the advantage from the start but he made the game more in her favor. Also Skyler wondered if she would handle her side of the agreement and with a smile he brought it up looking over his shoulder "If I am not mistaken you owe me something for my victory Eden." Skyler laughed softly as he walked further inside, he wondered who would be able to cook deer well if he had too Skyler knew that it wasn't that hard. Although it would have no taste due to lack of seasoning, shrugging and looking off to the side he called out for Kathleen preparing to ask if she had something to clean and cook the deer with.

Eden huffed indignantly. She reached out and gently tugged on Skyler's long silver ponytail. It was untamed and mussed, but looked as if it would look rather impressive when fixed. As she was thinking this, Eden suddenly realized that she'd had no experience with fixing anything, let alone something as simple as hair. She felt her face turn red and she hoped Skyler wouldn't turn around and see. "Eh... You want it braided, right?" she asked, half trying to stall. She didn't want to end up embarrassing herself. It was an easy task. She could certainly do it, at least she tried to convince herself she could. Eden let out a heavy, determined breath and eyed Skyler's hair closely, inspecting what she had to work with. 

Eden sat down a few steps above Skyler to get a better angle. She tried to remember how, if she'd been shown at all, to braid hair. She drew a blank. Now, she decided to try her hand at logic. Remembering the appearance of a braid, she figured that you began with three separate strands. Careful not to pierce his skin with her claws, Eden carefully split the silver ponytail into three. Next step. She paused, feeling her face flush red again. Lowering her head and closely examining the hair, Eden bit her lip, slightly stressed. She didn't want to make a fool of herself. Gritting her teeth and focusing hard, she tried to figure out how to form the braid. Her hands started shaking. Nothing she tried worked. She refused to give up, trying one strategy after another. Even something as simple as a braid was an impossible puzzle for her. Eden was about to give up, when suddenly- she got it. It looked like it had been formed correctly. She let out a small squeak of joy at her discovery. She began forming the rest of the braid, feeling almost happier than she had while hunting with Skyler. 

Yawning as Eden got the hang of braiding, Skyler felt extremely tired he has been awake for at least two days and ongoing. The only thing he could imagine was falling asleep in his cozy king sized bed, but that was apart of a past life shrugging his shoulders to keep himself awake a little longer propping his elbow on his knee and holding his head up. Skyler slowly began to drift off to sleep just slightly keeping himself awake, "...Eden, thanks for everything your are so pretty..." Skyler quietly finishing the sentence as the last few words were nearly audible. Skyler felt his body go limp as he gently fell asleep, falling back into Edens lap within a few minutes due to pure exhaustion. He would congratulate Eden if she did an great job despite having a large wolf sleeping on her, Skyler just couldn't keep himself awake any longer.

Eden turned red at what Skyler said, though it was barely audible and she almost didn't catch it. She wasn't even quite sure if she heard right, but she blushed nonetheless, half glad Skyler was asleep. Only half. He was heavy, what with all the muscle mass. Eden slipped out from under him and stood up straight on the steps, looking down at him. It looked uncomfortable, so she mustered her strength and managed to sit him up and lean him against the rail, so the stairs weren't digging into his back. Sighing from exertion, she sat down next to him, and fiddled with the wooden stairs, poking at it with her claws. 

Slowly reawakening a few hours later watching Eden sit by his side, with a slight smile Skyler called out to her " Hello, were you sitting there the whole time." He asked, Skyler was unsure how long he was asleep, he hasn't gotten any rest since they originally left the facility. Stretching out poking Eden in the side as he pulled his arms back, Skyler stood feeling his hair. As it was skillfully braided back into a ponytail as he had left it before, Skyler knew it wouldn't be the last time he would be asking Eden to do his hair. Smelling the air Skyler gracefully hopped down the stairs rolling over Eden heading to where the dead deer layed, running outside than back in with material to build a small fire. With a sigh he began the fire, and with his claws he began to slice up the deer.

Eden squeaked when she was poked in the stomach, a strange noise, that made her laugh a little. She waited until Skyler had gathered firewood and such and started cutting the deer before she approached him. She clasped her paws behind her back and perked over his shoulder at what he was doing, unsure of wether or not her assistance was needed. She watched him work contentedly, rocking back and forth on her heels ever so often. 

After a moment, she stood straight and stretched, looking up at one of the broken windows to see a few birds fly by, their song drifting through the broken glass. Eden blinked. She'd never seen this type of bird before. Then again, she'd stayed in the same place most of her entire life. She tilted her head to one side. What else was different in this strange place?

After getting the meat on the fire Skyler turned and poked Eden again laughing, as she would most likely respond in the same matter before a light squeak would have made Skyler laugh. Standing up and stretching out "The food should be done pretty soon Eden, after its done call every one who eats meat over here alright." Skyler told her as he removed his torn and tattered shirt throwing it into the fire. The bullet scars ran down in a pattern down his chest and stomach areas while the scars from being whipped where just starting to fade away, nearly everything that Skyler has done has hurt him in the end. Hopefully having a friendship with Eden wouldn't, but the fear still lingered. Although being hurt at every turn taking some type of pain, very little struck fear into him but that one person had a higher meaning to him what was so different about Eden.

Skyler couldn't help staring at her for a short while smiling awkwardly, than catching himself as he walked toward the darkened areas "Coming with?" Skyler said as he walked into the darkness.

Eden squeaked again, predictably, drawing her attention from the bird song. She took note of the task she'd been asked, but chances were she'd forget. But that didn't concern her too much. Hardly at all, actually. Looking about the warehouse, she was somewhat dazzled by the array of scarlet and violet lights created by the setting sun. The stars were coming out, and barely a sliver of orange remained on the horizon. Her first sunset in freedom. 

Eden kept looking about as she followed Skyler. Her eyes were sharp, but even she could only see his muscular outline in the dark recesses of the warehouse. She almost ran right into a wall. With a small cry of surprise, she reached out to steady herself, placing a paw on the cool brick wall. She had a hard time seeing two inches in front of her face. 

Turning back and laughing at Edens movement, her eyesight was restricted she couldn't really see what was in front of her and with a smile Skyler turned and softly grabbed her paw leading her through the darkness. She can't see Skyler thought to himself, the dark became his home during the beginning years kept alone in his room to be experimented on and beaten day in and day out until hope was completely sapped from him. So being alone in the dark wasn't that bad, and his eyesight was just alittle weaker than normal, but Edens eyes weren't as strong so leading her would be better than just allowing her to move by her self.

"I'm taking you to the second floor to this place. Its nice and well lit up there you'll also get to see the stars and such" Skyler said speaking to Eden, he knew using a higher vocabulary would just confuse her. Simple he thought, thats why Eden catches me shes just so simple yet amazing. Continuing to hold her paw as he made his way into a dimly lit room

After almost stumbling over every other wooden step, Eden was finally led by Skyler into a dim room. Her eyes took a few seconds to adjust. A breeze blew through the broken windows, causing her to shiver and move closer to Skyler. When she looked out the windows and up at the sky, Eden saw that he had been right. The cloudless night sky held thousands of twinkling lights: the stars. She stared at them, as though mesmerized. The stars flashed back at her. Eden often managed to sneak out at night, climb into a tree, and gaze at the stars many a night. A smile spread across her face and her golden eyes twinkled. "They're really pretty, Skyler," she said, tilting her head to one side. Indeed, they were captivating. 

Putting his arm around Edens side Skyler agreed, "pretty right, but you look ten times as brighter." Skyler told her standing by her side under the star lit sky. Skyler was never one to enjoy glaring into the nights sky but tonight was different, he stood next to someone who mattered and her joy brought him to peace inside. The cold air didn't bother him much because of his hair, but he guessed this would be a perfect spot for a room, right under the moon. Looking to Eden again feeling the coldness emit from her body, Skyler got a bit closer putting his arms around her from the back to keep her warm. "Hey, where are we going to sleep? I think this place is perfect, its right under the stars." Skyler told her closing his eyes as he felt in peace holding her close.

He yawned and his nose perked up "Shit the food" Skyler whispered to himself taking off into the darkness.Taking the chrispy pieces of deer from over the fire, extinguishing it so he can let the deer cool off. Taking in a deep breath Skyler roared "DINNER IS DONE"
