Personality:
Makayla is a girl with a lot of layers, and a thick armor around her true self. She's guarded and thinks it's best to remain that way, because she doesn't want to get close to many people. Not a lot of people understand the pain that she went through as a child, or how it's made trusting people so difficult for her. She has enough on her plate as it is now, with Holly, with how her chance at a future was tossed to the wind when she accepted custody of Holly, and how her mental sanity is on a downward spiral that never seems to end. The last thing that she needs are complicated relationships with anyone else in her life, be it close friends or romantic relationships, so she tends to keep to herself. Stay in her lane, if you will. She minds her own business, does her own thing, and tries to stay out of people's way, and hopes everyone will grant her with that same courtesy. Because of this, a lot of the time she will seem indifferent towards a lot of things. She won't make you feel very loved and welcomed, but she also won't make it seem like she hates you. She's not truly that plain and simple, but it's easier that way. In a way, she was forced to grow up very quickly, so she's never had time for petty drama or childish games. She likes to be upfront with people, or stay out of things all together.

To those that she's very close with, and those are few and far between, she's softer. She's protective and caring and has more of a conscience and heart that she wants to give herself credit for. She has a good head on her shoulders, a lot of common sense, and the ability to sacrifice her own comfort and wants to make sure her family is taken care of. It's undeniable that she's a strong girl. Strong definitely isn't a characteristic she would use to describe herself, but to go through what she's went through, and to accept this whole new challenge of taking care of Holly when she didn't need to attests to it. Even on her lowest days, when she swears that she's going to kill herself, she somehow manages to make it through, and a lot of the time, with a fake smile on her face.

Likes:
Chocolate and alcohol are the keys to her heart. Red wine gets you bonus points, but she doesn't have money to buy a pair of ten dollar shoes most days, so a cheap bottle of vodka will do the trick too. Dealing with the ball of energy she calls her sister leaves her with no patience by the end of the day, so 99% of the time, marijuana is the only thing that has kept her from taping Holly's mouth shut by six o'clock. Said little sister is one of her 'likes' as well, though the love isn't always showed. She likes money (who doesn't?!), but likes the stability that comes with it rather than the thrill of being able to splurge.

Dislikes:
She has common dislikes, like certain foods such as taffy, cinnamon flavored gum, bananas, chicken patties and chili. She was never a fan of the snow. She hates long bus rides and misplacing her metro card for the subways. She grew up around roaches and pests, but spiders still creep her out, and thanks to allergies, dislikes cats and dogs. Aside from the normal dislikes, there are a lot of times where she dislikes being responsible for Holly. The girl is her world and she loves her, but she doesn't think it's fair that at twenty-three-years-old, she's stuck taking care of her. She would never say it out loud, but Holly can be a burden and there are times when Kay is sure that if she didn't have to care for Holly, she might have been able to leave New York and gotten her life together somewhere else. It's so hard for her to focus on herself when she's taking care of a girl who has the attention span of a child, but at the same time, it's impossible for her to not love Holly like a sister and that dislike will never be enough for her to abandon her.

Hometown:
South Bronx

Job:
She works as a cocktail waitress at a gentleman's club at night part time, works three days a week as a cashier at Duane Reade, and though she's trying to quit it all together, she still tampers with prostitution when money is running low.

History:
Makayla was born into a dysfunctional family, but it wasn't something that was abnormal in her community. She was born in the south Bronx to a crack addict mother, and a drug manufacturing and dealing father. He was an addict as well, but she preferred the addict in her mother, who was just neglectful, over the addict side of her father, who was abusive. Luckily, for most of her childhood, her grandmother looked after. She lived just a few floors up in their apartment building and at least allowed Makayla to make it through her toddler years in one piece, without accidentally consuming a piece of rock cocaine that fell off a coffee table or being the target of one of her father's whizzing beer bottles at three in the morning.

When she was ten years old, her mother was arrested for soliciting prostitution, and she never came home. She was released from jail, Makayla knows that much, but she just never saw the woman again. She doesn't know if her father threatened to kill her if she ever came back, or if the woman finally realized that her baby daddy was going to kill her if she stayed with him. All Makayla knows is that she was no real mother to abandon her. Maybe that's why it's been so hard for her to abandon Holly. She knows the pain, and she can't put that on someone else.

Holly is her stepsister, even though they aren't legally even related. Holly's mother was one of the women that Makayla's father spent a lot of time with after her mother disappeared. Holly was five years old when she first moved into the house, and at first, Kay hated her, but liked her all the same. She was annoying as hell, always touching things and making noise, but it shifted the attention of the abuse from her, onto the new girl. Now, Holly could be reasonably blamed for a broken television remote or running out of soap in the bathroom. Even when it wasn't her fault, like it had never been Makayla's, her father would blame her, and beat the girl. To this day, Makayla still feels bad about never stepping in to stop the physical abuse, and then the sexual abuse when that started, but she couldn't. If she did, it would have been her receiving the beatings, and she just knew that she couldn't do that. It wasn't her job to take a beating for a kid she owed nothing to... That's what she tried to tell herself, at least.

She just tried to focus on herself. She went to school, did pretty well given the circumstances, and during her senior year, got into a state college where she could have moved out and dormed there, and potentially started a whole new life, away from all of this mayhem. She couldn't do it though. Even though it would have been financially manageable with loans and financial aid, she just couldn't bring herself to accept the offer. However, she knew that this life wasn't for her, and spent one year at her community college while working part time at CVS before her father and Holly's mother were incarcerated. It all seems fuzzy, reflecting back on it. Police tape covering the apartment door, people in hazmat suits walking in and out, her father's face being shoved into the dirt outside as his hands were cuffed behind his back. Running a drug lab in an apartment building kitchen is nothing to laugh about, and Makayla feels like justice was served for her father... but not for her. She'll still never get her childhood back, and the end result of the arrests was that she somehow accepted custody of Holly, had to drop out of college to work to support them, and then ended up losing the apartment when she couldn't afford the rent. So, they ended up on the streets. Sort of. They moved into Manhattan where Makayla did her best to make friends with people who would let them sleep on their couches, but she couldn't find any work in the city that allowed her to stay with Holly after school too. That's when she turned to prostitution. She did it while working part time in retail, and for a while, that money was the money that was really supporting her. Of course, the profession was more than degrading, dehumanizing, and depressing, but what other choice did she have? Thankfully, things have slowly gotten better, with her obtaining a night job at a gentleman's club in the city as a cocktail waitress, that, along with a couple of days a week as a cashier, is getting her by. That's not to say that she doesn't work the streets when she needs the money now and then, but, it's a lot less frequent than it was. If she has anything good to say about the profession, though, it would be that the connection she made with the building manager, who happened to be one of her "johns", led to her being able to make an arrangement with him where in exchange for some "favors" on her end, he would let her stay in the building for a reduced rent rate until she could get on her feet.

Collin's mindset was now that he had to just roll with the punches that this trip was going to throw at him. He couldn't even remember how Brooklyn had convinced him to let Roman come along. Even though Roman didn't seem as blatantly troublesome as Brooklyn, in the sense that up until now, he wasn't being as provocative, Collin also felt like Brooklyn wouldn't act this way without Roman there as her wingman. It was probably not the most sensible of thoughts, since Collin knew just as well as anyone that Brooklyn could be a menace on her own, without the help of anyone else, but it was what he wanted to think to liberate himself of guilt. He had agreed to let Brooklyn join them on this trip partly to spite his sister, since he was beginning to reach his limit of dealing with her bitchiness, but also because he was a bit infatuated with Brooklyn. Even if it wasn't in the sense of him being delusional enough to think that she would ever want to date him, the idea of being able to sleep with her every night while at Disney was surely enough to have him insisting that accommodating her wouldn't be a problem. She asked about bringing Roman along a few days later, when it was too late and awkward for him to say no, and now, yes, he was regretting extending the invitation even to her. Part of him felt like expressing this to Cara, waving his white flag of surrender and admitting that he didn't know how to deal with the duo of trouble this week either. Maybe they could rent out a room for them at a separate hotel and solve the problem. At the same time, admitting that he was wrong to his sister was something that someone as passive as Collin was was going to struggle with. At least this early on in the game.

He didn't want to have to spend his vacation watching them to eliminate problems, but at the same time, if he didn't hover over them, he knew there was going to be an issue between his sister and Brooklyn. Then again, Collin felt like Brooklyn was the type to thrive off of knowing that people were giving attention to her bad behavior, or to prevent it. Maybe he exaggerated that a bit in his head, to tell him that his best course of action was to ignore Brooklyn and Roman. Starting with Brooklyn's comment about him and Roman, and Roman's reaction to that. Brooklyn and Roman were his problems more than they were Cara's, but what if they could be no-one's problem? What if no-one acknowledged them outside of the hotel room? Brooklyn had been really fun in bed over the past few weeks, but Collin was suddenly coming to the conclusion that maybe that wasn't worth the crazy that came along with it. He would have to grow a pair and stand up to Cara in a more direct way, rather than indirectly trying to piss her off by bringing Brooklyn along.

Since he knew that Cara and Chanel were probably annoyed, if not angry, with him already, he didn't hurry to catch up with them, and instead, silently excused himself into a store so that he didn't have to walk with either group. He would leave the store a minute later, after only buying a water bottle, but it would give him enough time to be out of sight thanks to the crowds that separated him from even Brooklyn and Roman, who had been at the back of the group.

Cara nodded in a thoughtful manner as she took in Chanel's advice. Sometimes, Cara had a tendency to ask for advice, receive good advice, but then do the opposite of it anyway if it was what she was originally planning on doing. Right now, Chanel seemed right, though. Confronting Brooklyn would only add fuel to the fire, and like Chanel, she wanted to relax. She needed to relax, and she could have already been relaxing if it wasn't for Collin and his bright idea to include the trailer park trash that Cara was glad were trailing behind far enough that she had breathing room, finally. Brooklyn deserved to be put in her place after such a crude remark, but Cara had to remind herself that A: it would provoke Brooklyn into being more of a nuisance and B: people like Brooklyn were uncultured and classless. That was what Cara told herself, at least. She probably came from one of those families that spent their summers visiting dirty lakes or spending days at Dorney Park downing ten Big-Gulp sized cups of Mountain Dew and five thousand calories worth of junk food in a six hour period and then complaining that their rented scooter wasn't comfortable enough. Trash. She needed to remind herself not to expect any sort of manners or class from the girl. Just because she told herself this now, and was able to take a deep breath and move on, especially since no one else seemed as agitated as her, didn't mean that she wasn't going to let Brooklyn bother her for the rest of the trip. It was too easy to get under Cara's skin when it came to that girl.

Had it not been for the screams that erupted in the distance from The Tower of Terror ride, Cara might have waved a careless hand at the concern in Chanel's voice. She had been coming to Disney since she was a baby, and she had went on the ride a few years after it opened, when she was tall enough. She had been seven years old, and she knew that only because she had a picture of her riding it with her mother somewhere in one of her photo albums. With that being said, though, Cara had been on other roller coasters before it. Magic Kingdom had lots of more child-friendly rides that could allow a kid to work their way up to a ride like this. Cara was aware that this was Holly's first roller coaster from their previous conversations, but now she was beginning to wonder if she had actually ever been on any amusement park rides at all. This roller coaster was going to be a big start for Holly-- between the way it went from 0 to 60 mph in less than three seconds, and how it had lots of turns and even an upside down loop... Holly had seemed so excited about everything that the possibility of this being too much for her hadn't even registered in Cara's mind. As much as she wanted to act like part of this vacation would be centered around giving Holly and Makayla the perfect first-time visit one could have, she was also definitely thinking about herself and the things that she wanted to go on. Only now was she realizing that it may have been considerate to at least ask Makayla in advance if she thought Holly would be okay on a ride like this, so that in the worst case scenario, she could have fastpassed something else for Holly and Makayla and discretely went on the ride with Chanel without making a big deal out of it. Since the huge guitar was now in sight, it seemed too late for that now, though Cara had bit her lip as she glanced over at Chanel, mouthing "Do you think she'll die?" Not waiting, and already following the park employee's direction to scan her band at the entrance, since even if Holly and Makayla sat this out, she was going on it, she continued to say, "I think it'll be fun. Do you think you'll like it, though, Holl? It does go pretty fast. Do you think you want to try a different ride first?"

The sounds of the screams from the thrill seekers at another attraction wasn't what distracted Holly from further enquiring about why Chanel decided to say "woosa" instead of just saying relax, since she didn't understand the meaning behind the word. Instead, it was Chanel saying that her mom and brother were afraid of roller coasters, and "everything". She had questions about that, ones that she felt needed to be asked and answered, but then that train of thought was derailed too, by Chanel asking Cara what she thought about this being Holly's first roller coaster. On top of that, Holly became aware that they were now approaching the roller coaster, since she saw a building with a huge electric guitar on it, and she recalled Cara saying that it was a rock 'n roll themed ride. She didn't know who Aerosmith was in particular, but she remembered that Cara said it was based on that band. The idea of a roller coaster being indoors was what initially confused her the most. Whenever she had seen roller coasters online, in pictures, movies or on the television, they were always outside ones that sprawled high up into the sky. Though the building that they were approaching looked big, it wasn't tall enough to house the roller coaster she was imagining. Still, she was too excited to be skeptical, and she didn't know to be nervous, so she didn't question it. As they entered the line that was contrastingly empty compared to the one beside it, which made sense, since this was the fast pass line and that was regular admission, Cara turned back to question her on what she thought of it.

"I love fast!" she said, laughing aloud at the thought of it, maybe, or maybe just at nothing at all. It was hard to tell with Holly, and as she resumed the lead once again, quickening her pace as she chuckled aloud as she twirled through the empty, weaving line, she continued to say, "I want to go on any ride that you guys are going on, but I want to sit next to one of you because you both have long arms, so if I fall out you could grab me when I'm in the air, but if I was sitting next to Makayla and that happened I would just die!" Again, she found it in herself to laugh at that, but she stopped abruptly and allowed them to catch up with her when she remembered something that she had been thinking of a few minutes before. "Are they scared of dogs?" she asked Chanel, not feeling the need to explain that she was referring to Chanel's earlier statement about her brother and mother. "Is that why you don't wanna have one now with us? Because you're scared too?"

Makayla followed behind the girls, close enough to not notice when Collin detached himself from Roman and Brooklyn, and a family managed to squeeze in to their sequence to separate Brooklyn and Roman from the group ahead, but still not close enough to Holly, Chanel and Cara to really hear what they were saying. She kept an eye on Holly from behind, but was doing good at giving her some space. Getting angry at the girl before had warranted it, but also, despite what people probably thought, Makayla knew that it was good, if not essential, to give Holly some level of freedom. She was sixteen after all, and Makayla didn't doubt that most kids her age would be wandering around the park with no parental supervision if they wanted to. Of course, Holly wasn't your average sixteen year old, and Makayla had no doubt in her mind that if she let Holly do something like that, she would be thrown out in less than an hour for cutting every ride line, and more specifically, every line for the meet and greets with the characters. She was relieved that they hadn't seen any dressed up characters yet, because she knew that would be a show in itself with her sister's reaction. She knew that Cara and Chanel must have understood that they would be dealing with a lot of Holly this trip, and both were always very tolerant and insistent that she wasn't a problem, so Makayla was going to do her best to not be too smothering of Holly (even if when she did that, it was only for everyone else's benefit). She would watch from afar and only step in when needed. It would do Holly some good, but also allow her to regain some of the patience that she normally had, that had seemingly evaporated on the spot earlier in the room.

As they walked, she distracted herself with people watching. It wasn't entirely easy to do while simultaneously trying to walk and not bump into anyone, and while also watching what Holly was doing ahead, but she got by. It was sweet to see all of the families here. They all looked happy and picture-perfect in their own way. She wondered if most of them were people who lived in Florida and did this so regularly that the charm barely existed anymore, or if they were people who had saved up for years and years to afford a trip like this. It certainly meant more to be here if you knew that you wouldn't be able to come back for years, if at all, than if you had a seasonal pass and could visit every day if you wished, and that was why Makayla was going to try to enjoy herself. She knew she would probably never end up here again, and if she did, it would require at least ten years time, or a rich baby daddy.

She only truly caught up to the girls when they were in line, and with the way that the fast pass line was vacant, at least compared to the other line, the three girls ahead of her only stopped walking once they had made it through the maze-like empty line outside, and were inside of the building. Because the line was empty enough where they were able to keep walking, Makayla didn't take in every single detail, but she appreciated the record-industry type of vibe that the ride gave off. Just before one of the cast member's asked how many were in their party, and was told four, before allowing them to step into a room that was already pretty full of other ride-goers, that appeared to play a small video clip on a screen before you were allowed to get on the ride. "So you go upside down on this?" Makayla asked, missing most of what Holly had said as she looked to Cara and Chanel after overhearing a group next to them talking about the ride. She hadn't done much research on any of the rides prior to coming, and even though she wasn't a thrill-seeker, she didn't think she would have any problems on the rides. She had been on a few before at Coney Island as a kid and survived, and since it was Disney, she automatically assumed that they were mostly kiddie rides. The thought of flipping upside down made her stomach churn, though she wasn't about to back out over it, but she did look over at Holly a bit cautiously at the thought of something even semi-intense being her first ride.

Chanel quietly perked her brows in response to Cara's silent question. She told herself not to worry so much, since she figured someone as responsible as Makayla must have already taken that into consideration. She only figured that if the concern had passed her mind, then surely it must have passed Makayla's, and if something worried Chanel, it probably did Makayla as well, who was already openly cautious with all things Holly. It was hard, though, to be too nervous and scared for the girl when she was so visibly excited. Of course, the charm of Disney, in some ways, did fade as you got older. In the sense that that childlike perception of the world inevitably gave way to adulthood and everything it required of a person. The jovial air of the place was still present, but the magic that she swore the air was riddled with as a kid, was no longer there. It was just Disney, and as much as she could love it, like millions of people across the world did, she had easily outgrown it. She didn't watch the sky with unmatched dedication, searching for Tinkerbell and Peter Pan in the clouds. Chanel was never told that all the times her and her father would point up, exclaiming that they saw the characters, was only pretend on her dad's part. It never needed explaining because one day, and it was an indeterminable amount of time after she actually subconsciously figured it out, she just knew. Never mind the fact that she'd get odd, concerned looks if she were to twirl around everywhere she went to show how excited she was, but even internally, she didn't match Holly's enthusiasm. It was refreshing in its own right, hard not to grin at.

"They like dogs actually," Chanel told the girl, welcoming the laugh in her belly. She couldn't remember how much times a dog or some sort had come up in conversation. And Chanel was sure Makayla had to have told her why a dog just wasn't possible, or maybe she didn't bother because it might have been futile, such a simple rule. Because then the question wasn't why can't we have a dog, but why aren't dogs allowed, why in apartments and not houses. She'd lived with the girl long enough to know, too, how much the girl thoroughly loved dogs. "I was just exaggerating because they're scared of a lot of the things that don't scare me. But we all like dogs." As they smoothly moved through the maze of a line--of a lack of one--and got closer to the entrance, to a point where Chanel could hear the rides, she was on the brink of asking Holly about some of her favorite dogs, or if she could create a dog, what kind of dog would she create. It was a strange question, but when she was little herself, and had begged for a puppy (for Christmas specifically, because it had to be like in the movies and TV shows), she was so indecisive and picky that she essentially created her own dog which was essentially a composite of all of her favorite dogs. She even included a little, misshapen creature to illustrate to Santa how the dog should look. She never got a dog, and clearly not that design-a-dog. Even if it had been possible to create such a beast, it probably would have frightened her more than anything if it resembled anything close to her sketch. Makayla's question came before she could indulge into Holly's presumptive creative response. "Yeah, this one does. You probably won't be able to feel it, though, since it's dark and goes pretty fast." She herself had never been on the ride, but she knew about it and was excited. So when they were finally able to board, and she looked ahead and the dark tunnel in front of her, her stomach began to twist in the best worst way possible.

Makayla nodded at Chanel's response. The faster it was, the better, she assumed. Not only would it be over quicker, but like Chanel said, it would probably be harder to notice and process what was really happening if it was going that quickly. Makayla assumed that she would prefer a roller coaster that was fast and indoors, even with a loop, over than those huge ones that towered into the sky with big drops. There was too much suspense with those. Even just waiting in line now was making her a bit nervous with suspense, but luckily, they boarded pretty quickly. Makayla hadn't heard Holly's earlier remark about wanting to sit with one of the other girls on the ride, but she was still paying enough attention to her sister that when she noticed her inching towards the side that Chanel was climbing into, she yanked her towards the empty row behind. "Let Cara sit with her," she said quietly, giving her a look of warning to keep her from complaining. Makayla didn't want Holly sitting with Chanel partially because she knew that Chanel would prefer to sit with Cara (even if she wasn't going to admit it). Additionally, though, she didn't know how Holly would take to a ride like this. The redhead was clearly excited enough to not seem nervous, but Makayla was sure that that was only because Holly didn't know what she was actually in for. She didn't know what roller coasters entailed from a first person perspective, and since she was sure that Cara had only talked the rides up to Holly, she had no one telling her how scary and jolting they could be. The last thing that Makayla needed was for Holly to get sick mid-ride while she was sitting next to anyone other than her.

If something like that happened, Makayla knew that she would probably feel guilty and mortified enough to switch their flight home to that night and end the trip right there. It probably seemed dramatic, but it just related to how uncomfortable she truly felt with already accepting the kindness Cara was showing them. She was determined to ease up and relax, accept Brooklyn's thought that they needed to take advantage of this while they could, but unlike her, it just wasn't in Makayla's nature to take, take, take. Even if there were no strings attached, her mind could convince her that there were. As they pulled their restraints over their head, the car moved forward and an employee came area to check that the restraints were fully in place. With it tightly secured over her upper body, Makayla couldn't really turn to face Holly, but she reached over to give the girl's hand a squeeze. "They said this is going to go really fast, so hold on to the bars, okay?"

The way that the ride worked was that after you left the room that showed you a short video, introducing you more fully to the Aerosmith concept, with the band on the screen supposedly inviting the people in the room to come to their concert VIP, in a stretch limo that would go quickly (hence the car shaped roller coaster cars), you got on another much shorter line, before actually boarding the ride. While on this line, you could watch through a gate as others in front of you boarded the ride, and even as a countdown played over the loudspeaker before the riders were thrust into the ride at a speed so fast that literally half a second into the ride people were already screaming. Oddly, it didn't bother Holly though. It excited her, because people screamed on roller coasters, but she simply associated that with people having fun, not being scared. In reality, it was probably a mix of both, because even if they enjoyed the thrill of it, it was that heart-racing thrill that enticed them to begin with. It would only take experience for her to realize that, though, because she was far too optimistic and excited to consider that this wouldn't be anything less than fun. Even if she did have any doubts about it, personal experience was all that would actually get Holly to say no to going on a ride that both Chanel and Cara were going on too.

When Makayla pulled her back, forcing her to take a seat next to her when they got onto the ride, Holly did frown, though. She had been distracted on the walk over, especially with the ears that Chanel had bought her, that she was now tucking into the secure pocket in front of her so that they wouldn't fly off during the ride. She had been able to momentarily get over Makayla being mean to her, because she had other, more exciting things to think about. If it hadn't been for Makayla doing what she had just done, and not allowing Holly to do something she thought would be fun and harmless, then maybe she would have gotten over the earlier incident and forgot about it for the rest of the day. Now, Makayla being restrictive reminded her of how unnecessarily mean she had been back in the hotel room, and Holly found herself pulling her hand away when Makayla touched her. "Okay, but after this, I don't want to talk to you for the rest of the day because I'm still mad at you for being mean to me," she said. Her voice wasn't as sharp or angry, as she wanted it to be, but more so hurt and offended.

The short fastpass line went by quickly enough that within a few minutes from getting to the attraction, she and Chanel were seated inside a row with Makayla and Holly behind them. With the music and general noise from the attraction, Cara couldn't overhear what was potentially going to be another argument between Holly and Makayla. She assumed that everyone was as excited as she was trying to be, and in her mind, none of the others had reasons to be stressed besides her. She was the one who was going to have to deal with her brother, Roman and Brooklyn. Chanel had to deal with it indirectly, but in the end, it wasn't her problem like it was Cara's. It was Makayla and Holly's first time at Disney, and that alone made Cara feel like they deserved to feel weightless of their problems.

"Five, four, three, two..." The countdown didn't even hit one before the ride soared into action, in a way that was so fast that Cara was sure someone's neck would snap backwards if it wasn't for the restraints holding them in place. Going from zero to sixty miles per hour in less than three seconds felt even faster than it looked when you were watching other people on the ride, but it was a feeling that Cara loved. It made her feel awake and alive, and that was why she felt like it was a perfect start to this trip. Though she had been on the ride many times before, the thrill of it never got old and she still didn't know when to expect the twists and turns that came with it, which was why she was definitely one of the many screaming on the ride when at the more exhilarating parts.

She was used to going on the ride with Collin, which had brought up a bout of fleeting nostalgia when they were waiting on line, but it passed quickly and was replaced with happiness at the thought of the funny picture she was sure her and Chanel would end up with when the camera snapped their reaction mid-ride. The ride was less than a minute and a half in length once it started, which was why it was sometimes hard to believe that people would wait over an hour in line for it, even if it was one of the best rides at Disney in her opinion. There was no denying that it was worth it today, with the short wait and the trip just beginning, but Cara wasn't sure if the others had reacted to it quite as well as she did, since she was the only one who had personal experience to know what to expect. As they got out, she grinned at Chanel. "Tell me you loved it!" she exclaimed, before looking back towards Holly and Makayla who were climbing out as well. "Did you guys like it?!"

Holly was probably lucky that before Makayla could really respond to her, their car pulled up to the start of the ride. Overhead was a board with lights reminding riders to keep their heads back before a countdown ensued, but even with that playing, Holly didn't expect it when the ride zoomed off. That surprise of the ride starting was probably the worst part of it, because it made the huge jump in being motionless to soaring at sixty miles per hour feel all the more dramatic. The shock of the speed made her feel like her head was going to be permanently pressed into the hard plastic seat she was leaning against, because even if she wanted to pull away, the sheer force of the speed kept her pressed back against it. And then there were lights. So many lights, in such bright neon colors that against the surrounding pitch blackness, they made her eyes hurt. She was dizzy before the ride even flipped over, but that definitely made her feel ten times worse, and even though the ride only lasted a minute and twenty seconds, the loud music combined with all of the other effects left her with what felt like the worst headache of her life by the time that it slowed to a halt. Despite it being so short, it felt way too long for Holly who went from feeling overly excited about the prospect of trying her first roller coaster, to regretting it immensely. She hadn't known what to expect, so she only expected the best and wasn't prepared for any of the worsts, mentally or physically, and her body didn't appreciate it. She didn't feel like she was going to throw up, probably because she hadn't eaten in hours and didn't have much in her stomach to throw up, but between the throbbing in her head, the dizziness, and the way that her body suddenly felt entirely un-calibrated, it was safe to say that she probably wasn't riding another roller coaster this trip.

Also, it was safe to say that she was abandoning her decision to not talk to Makayla for the rest of the day, because the first thing that she did once the restraints were lifted from their bodies was grab a hold of Makayla's arm, desperately in need of the support to stand up without falling over. Her face was probably white as a ghost, even though she felt hot enough to assume that all of the blood in her body had rushed to her head. She could only really shake her head 'no' when Cara excitedly turned to them as they left the ride, asking if they liked it. She used her free hand to rub one of her eyes, assuming that maybe that would make her eyes readjust to the normal level of light, and the lack of flashing lights again, and though she realized she hadn't grabbed her ears out from the pocket of the ride, she literally couldn't verbalize that to confirm that Makayla had taken them for her. Holly had never experienced a feeling like this before, so it made it feel all the more scary. The lack of words probably spoke to her reaction in itself, but the lack of enthusiasm compared to how she had been before the ride probably did the same.

Before the ride took off, she looked at Cara with a cheesy, nervous grin, as if to say 'Well, this is it.' Despite the countdown right in front of them, which should have lowered the anticipation, she was still startled when they jolted off. She was pinned to the back of her seat, dizzied by the lights zooming by them, and she screamed the entire time. She didn't care if she was that person on the ride. From the way she sounded, one would think she was horrified of roller coasters, and in the moment, she was, but in an exhilirating sense. Coupled with the fact that the ride was dark, except the lights on the sides of them, it was all the more scarier. Within the first few seconds of the ride, her hair hair flown into her face. Despite her curls nearly suffocating her, she enjoyed the short ride that it was. Her heart was pounding in her stomach--which she realized afterwards was desperately hungry--and her face felt warm and flushed. As they got onto the platform, she shook her hair out, frowning at herself for a moment before smiling at Cara when she began talking to her. "Definitely a great start. I feel like David Blaine right now," she said, the thrill of the roller coaster not neutralizing her already dramaturgic personality. She'd been on the brink of commenting about how this is what LSD must feel like, before she got distracted.

She looked to the girls with anticipation, but instantly frowned, masking her surprised unintentionally, when she saw Holly's unenthused face. Ironically, her silence was spoke louder than her expressions. Chanel didn't hear Holly scream, not because the girl didn't, but because there were many people on the ride hollering, and then over top of her own shrieking, and the deafening music, there was no telling how anyone was doing. Chanel would have expected a stream of tears to come from the girl if she didn't like it, and yet somehow this was worse. "Well, you don't have to ride it anymore," Chanel said, rubbing her back a little. If everyone was half ass high on adrenaline as she was, she'd suggest going again, but she wasn't sure if the Fastpasses worked like that or were only good for one ride. Her hair newly tangled, she tugged it up into a messy bun atop her head. Knowing it looked awful without needing to see it, she shook her head briefly. "I look a mess," she muttered. As they exited the cool air conditioning and entered the warmth again, Chanel rubbed the heat into her arms, looking around. "How about we collect our bearings and go eat?"

Makayla was somewhat surprised at how much she enjoyed the ride. It was fast and startling in that aspect, but thrilling and oddly refreshing too. For someone who constantly felt tired and lethargic, something like this was the perfect way to wake up. It made her excited for the other rides because if this was one of the worst of them in terms of a possible fear factor, then she knew she would be fine, and actually enjoy the other ones too. Unlike many of the others who spent the duration of the ride screaming, Makayla actually found herself giggling -- gasping for air every now and then too, as the sharp turns and quick loop caught her by surprise, but giggling for the most part. She had never thought of herself as being someone who would have been into roller coasters, and she was mostly just riding this because she wasn't going to let Holly go on alone with the girls, but she was glad she did now. She enjoyed the ride and felt alive, something that wasn't an especially common feeling for her. She was so consumed by her own experience that she didn't take note to how Holly had been mostly silent on the ride. That reaction in itself seemed noteworthy for a ride like this, but coming from a girl who was never quiet, it was even more meaningful. Because of their seating arrangement, Makayla was got out of car first, taking her bag and Holly's ears from the secure pocket in front of them on the way, and she Cara and Chanel's initially excited looking faces with a smile of her own.

It was only when Holly grabbed her arm, climbing out of the ride herself in a manner that was again too quiet for her personality, that she glanced towards her sister. She had momentarily forgotten about Holly forbidding her from talking to her for the day, so it wasn't even Makayla being petty by originally neglecting to check on her welfare. By then, she didn't even need to see Holly shaking her head in response to Cara's question to know that Holly hadn't enjoyed the ride. Her face was pale enough to nearly look gray, and she looked visibly dazed and out of it. Makayla wasn't sure if she was about to puke or faint, but she knew that Holly wasn't just being dramatic. It was sad for obvious reasons, but also because she had been so ignorantly blissful and excited just a few minutes before. Her sister could bounce back from most things, as their interaction in the room had proved, but if this wasn't just a temporary reaction to the ride, Makayla knew that the day might have been over for the both of them now.

Chanel's suggestion was her best bet, though. Food seemed like something that would help anything, and depending on how close of a walk this restaurant was, Makayla wasn't opposed to buying her a bottle of water on the way just to make sure that she didn't faint. "Food sounds good," Makayla said, nodding quickly to Chanel and Cara, and resting a hand on Holly's back as they headed out of the ride and back outside. "It might take us a little longer, so just point me in the right direction and we'll meet you guys there if you wanna check in with the reservation or anything. Don't let us slow you down," she insisted to them. She didn't feel guilty in this case for inconveniencing them, because obviously this was out of everyone's control, but she also didn't want them to feel compelled to comfort and coddle Holly like she had to do. She could do that on her own, and if she was being honest, she was also hoping that sending them ahead at a pace quicker than their slow one would ensure that they wouldn't have to stand around waiting for their table once they got there, even if Cara did say they had a reservation. "Did it give you a headache and make you not feel well, or you just didn't like how fast it was?" she asked Holly, though it was clear that it was probably a mix of the two. "We don't need to go on any other rides like that. Isn't this the place with that 3-D show you were telling me about on the plane? Maybe we can do that after we eat."[/color]

Cara received the response she was looking for when Chanel and Makayla got off of the ride, but the same couldn't be said of Holly's reaction. She was eager to see the reactions from all three of them for different reasons. Chanel was her closest friend here, so of course, she wanted her to enjoy the ride. She felt the most similar to her in a lot of aspects when compared to Holly and Makayla, so it made sense that Cara hoped Chanel enjoyed it as much as she did. She wanted Makayla to have fun too, simply because it seemed like it was hard to really excite the girl. She didn't seem difficult to please in a snooty way, like her standards were too high for most things, but more so in a way where she just often seemed distracted... like it was hard for her to let herself enjoy things because her mind was elsewhere. Cara wasn't extremely close to Makayla partly because of that lack of interest that the girl seemed to have in most things that interested Cara, but it was one more reason why she hoped that this trip would be special enough to open Makayla up to her in a sense. And then there was Holly, and for obvious reasons, she wanted Holly to like the ride. Holly was the closest thing to a kid out of all of them in the group, and with her attitude, Disney was going to be magical for her. Holly's presence was one of the biggest reasons for why Cara had been looking forward to the trip all month. She was very excited to show Holly around and see her reaction, since someone's first time at Disney (especially someone with as much enthusiasm as Holly) was always supposed to be a big deal. It was supposed to be perfect, and because Holly was so easy to please and excite, Cara thought that making it perfect would be easy. Now, looking at the girl who appeared to feel like the world was spinning beneath her feet, Cara realized that maybe she hadn't put enough thought into fitting everyone's needs.

She didn't want to be dramatic, because she felt like hovering over Holly and asking a million questions about how she felt might actually scare her into thinking that she felt worse than she did, but at the same time, Cara felt horrible. She was the only one who had ever been on that ride, and she told herself now that she should have known better. A tiny voice in her head told her that Chanel should have asked that question, voicing her concern earlier, as to prevent this, but the majority of Cara knew that if anyone was to blame it was herself, even if she didn't ideally want to place the blame there. Makayla seemed to have it under control, and Cara guessed that her telling them to go ahead was her way of saying that she wanted a few minutes to inspect the situation on her own, so Cara took the cue and nodded swiftly. "I didn't feel great after my first roller coaster either, Holly, but I'm sure you'll feel fine in a minute! You have to, because I don't want to be the only one eating ice cream after lunch and you know that I can't count on healthy Chanel for that," she said playfully, hoping to garner at least a smile from the girl, before nodding to Makayla once again, as if to signal that they would follow her suggested instructions. "So yeah, we can definitely give you guys a minute to regroup and we'll make sure the table is ready. Basically just keep walking straight from where we came from, except instead of walking back towards the park entrance, just keep going straight past that and you'll see it on your right. It's called the Sci-Fi Dine In Theater."

When she and Chanel were a few feet ahead of them, the distraught she was feeling showed on her face more easily. "I'm literally the worst person on the planet for letting her go on that ride. What did I do to deserve this trip falling apart so early on?"

If it wasn't for how sick the ride had made her felt, then Holly probably would have hopped off a bit shaken up, but not to a point where it really would have bothered her for a great amount of time. She would have had a million questions for Cara about why she rode that ride when she was a little kid, and why everyone else enjoyed how fast and unexpectedly crazy it seemed, when that didn't seem pleasurable at all to her. She would have wanted to know if maybe her seating position was what made her experience so much less pleasurable than theirs, and why Cara wouldn't have warned her about that. She probably even would have agreed to try another roller coaster tomorrow, if it was a lot less scary. Before any of that, though, she definitely would have demanded Makayla give her the Minnie ears that she had luckily taken off of the ride with them, because she didn't want to spend a minute in Disney World without them on. It was only because her head was spinning and her body felt a million more times heavier than it did when she had first gotten onto the ride, that she was so un-Holly. The fact that she didn't insist that they walk with Cara and Chanel, and actually didn't say anything at all, spoke to that.

Food barely sounded good at this point. She was hungry and had not eaten in a few hours, but she didn't feel like she could stomach much of anything. The heat suddenly felt a lot stronger than it had before entering the air conditioned ride, and no longer was she thinking about an afternoon of going on rides and watching shows, and then swimming in the pool, but instead, she craved a nice bed with cool, crisp sheets. As dramatic of a transition as it sounded, her body wasn't reacting well to this ride, and it wasn't very common that Holly felt sick, so when she did, it felt all the more worse. "I don't feel good," she eventually said, rubbing her face with her hands as if she were attempting to push some of the pain away. She didn't want to feel this way, because though Holly was definitely dependent compared to other people her age, she didn't necessarily enjoy being coddled. She liked the idea of independence and being capable of doing things on her own, and keeping up with the group, so she wasn't the kind of person who would play the victim card to garner sympathy and attention. She found it easy to get attention while acting healthy, so it never would have occurred to her to play sick for that same attention. "But I'll probably feel better once I have ice cream after lunch," she did offer as they slowly trailed behind the two other girls who would soon disappear into the crowds. "You're not healthy like Chanel is so you can have some with me and Cara."

Brooklyn and Roman had gotten onto the ride about two minutes after the group of girls had, and Brooklyn only knew that because they had watched from the line as the others boarded first. Brooklyn was half tempted to yell out to Holly that she was going to steal something of hers if she died on the ride, but she figured that the music would wash out any of her words and make the effort futile. She didn't truly think that Holly would mind the ride, but that was partly because at her age, Brooklyn had been on tons of roller coasters. She wasn't a thrill-seeking fanatic, but she definitely went on them when she was at amusement parks with them, so she was excited for this one. While it wasn't her first time at Disney, she couldn't remember ever having gone on this ride. Since her sister was a good few years younger than her, the family often opted for rides that would fit both of their needs, even if occasionally, Brooklyn and her father would split up to go on the wilder ones. Being back in Disney made her feel vaguely nostalgic about those days. It was hard not to think about your own family when you were surrounded by so many, but Brooklyn's family was a thing of the past. All that was left there were two tombstones and an alcoholic of a mother, whose well-being Brooklyn was unaware of. Sometimes she wondered how her mother was doing, or if the woman was even still alive at all. A couple years back she had actually searched for her on Facebook, suspecting that her mother had made an account by then, but was oddly sadly disappointed when nothing came up. She didn't intend on friend requesting her anyway, but seeing that she still existed, even if it was in the poor state that Brooklyn had left her in, might have given her some form of closure, she supposed. Not knowing felt worse, but then again, Brooklyn had to remind herself that she didn't want to know. She didn't want to think about her mother, because she was no longer a representation of the good family that Brooklyn had once had.

The roller coaster didn't disappoint, and as she got off, she found her heart racing, but in a good way. It had been exhilarating and fast enough to give her a nice kick-start feeling. The ride's exit led into a gift shop, which wasn't exactly surprising, as Disney was definitely one of those places that tried to pull every last penny out of your pocket. Near the entrance of that was the photo section where people could see the photos that had been taken of them on the ride. "Oh my God," she laughed, pointing to one of the screens on the wall, where the picture of them on the roller coaster appeared momentarily. "This is gold. Remind me to order and frame this when we get home so I can commemorate this beautiful moment of both of us being scared little bitches for the rest of history," she said, nudging Roman before scanning her wristband so that the photo would be downloaded to their account. She was laughing more at Roman's face in it than hers, but her own facial expression wasn't cool, calm and collected either. Between the eyes pressed shut and her mouth agape as she was likely mid-scream when the photo was taken, Brooklyn looked just as silly as he did.

"That ride put me in a good mood," she admitted as they made their way through the gift shop. "I'm gonna be nice this trip, I think. I'm gonna be nice, for a change, and you're going to be friendly. Think you're capable of that?" she decided, spotting Makayla and Holly then, walking slowly a few yards ahead of them. "Look, our friends Go be friendly. Even someone like you might seem warm next to Makayla, so this is a perfect start," she said, giving him a semi-rough shove.

Makayla was disappointed to hear that Holly actually didn't feel well physically and wasn't just shaken up because of the ride. Had that been the case, than Makayla knew it would be easy to convince her into "recovering" quicker by taking a quick stop in one of the gift shops and putting that Magic Band to use. Her actually feeling ill was what Makayla had suspected by looking at her face initially, but she was hoping it wasn't the case. Even so, Holly's comments about ice cream were a sign that she was fine. Despite probably coming off as abrasive sometimes, when it came down to it, there was no one on the planet that Makayla cared about more than Holly. Even if they weren't biological sisters, Holly was not only just a sister, but the only person that she considered to truly be family to her, at all. She felt like it was essential to be strict with Holly in regards to some things, because it was necessary to help her grow and act her age, but when she was hurt or sick (which luckily was infrequent), Makayla tended to take on a much more attentive, loving and motherly side to her. She often felt like Holly deserved a life better than what she could give her, but there was no denying that Makayla absolutely loved her when it came down to it. She wasn't always doting because it was impossible and unhealthy to be that way, but she still loved Holly and wanted to protect her more than anyone else.

"Being healthy is a good thing," she reminded her, speaking a bit more softly than normally. "But even so, I don't think Chanel is so healthy that she doesn't eat ice cream. Just healthy enough that every meal doesn't consist of chicken fingers or macaroni and cheese like some people," she added, giving Holly a playful nudge in hopes that her spirits would lighten. Despite not having a lot of money, Makayla hadn't always been the type to just let Holly eat junk for every meal. Even now, she did her best to make sure that she cooked at home for her as much as possible, even if buying food off of the dollar menu at McDonald's probably would have ended up being cheaper. At the same time though, due to their budget, Makayla couldn't afford to by endless amounts of organic and specialty healthy meals for Holly to try, especially when 99% of the time when she tried to force Holly to eat anything healthy, she refused it and Makayla ended up eating it to avoid throwing it out, and feeling like she was throwing away money. By now, most days Makayla was too tired by dinner time to argue about what they were eating and was content with the routine Kraft macaroni and cheese, or chicken fingers, or a plain bagel or piece of toast with butter that Holly seemed content with eating consistently. She had to pick and choose her battles, and all she could do was hope that Holly's metabolism stayed as fast as it was, and her appetite as small as it was, forever.

Before long, Brooklyn and Roman had caught up to them. Makayla hadn't seen them on the ride, but assumed that they went on it, and only because she was in a mood where she was acting softer and sweeter to Holly did she feel the need to smile in their direction. "Did you guys like the ride? It was actually a lot better than I expected it to be, but I think it'll be her first and last roller coaster of this trip."

He wouldn't be telling the truth if he said he hated the ride. The sudden increase in speed wasn't a total surprise when they got on, being that they had seen it take off just before they got on. But still, seeing it and feeling it were two different things, even with the countdown clock. It was already a short ride, but he had a strong feeling that he blacked out for a few seconds. By the time they got off, he felt fine, if not a little unbalanced, but like Brooklyn, his heart was rapidly beating a tingle through his body that was hard not to like. Before he thought he would have been fine with eating beforehead, but he was glad he didn't. Even that lollipop felt heavier on his stomach than it once did. Despite all the negative repercussions that could easily act as a deterrent to anymore roller coasters, he now wanted to go on more. Not out of a need to keep the adrenaline going, but just to enjoy. He didn't think he could ride that twice in a row by any means, but if there were any others, he wouldn't be against riding them, within reason.

The oddest side effect of the ride was the impact it had on Brooke. Roman would be the first one to tell you that Brooklyn was a demon, but that was because he knew she truly wasn't all that bad, but still, listening to her proclaim a total and sudden change in personality was as amusing as it was confusing to say the least. He didn't take her seriously until she also announced that he'd be friendly from now on, in which case he gave her a doubtful look as he adjusted the hat on his head. Before he was able to protest by telling her that he wasn't so bad, he also knew better than to claim the trait of friendliness. He knew perfectly well that he wasn't the most open person and could shut down interactions without batting an eye. Even with that, he didn't think of himself as being naturally mean. That would require too much energy, for one, just as being personable would be. It was evident that he could thaw out quite a lot when he was comfortable with you, whether that be for good or bad, like Brooklyn or Cara, respectively. There were times he went out of his way to poke around when he was with Brooklyn, just as there were times when he would purposely get under Cara's skin for no other reason than to do it and get a reaction. Other than that, he didn't favor or disfavor most people, though he did tend to lean towards the latter. While he didn't try to exacerbate and flaunt those opinions, he also didn't do much to hide it either, which, ironically, naturally showcased those very opinions. But that wasn't to say that he prided himself in his lack of effort in being friendly. He was also just painfully socially inept when it came to people he didn't know, and so he just shut down, which naturally pushed people away. He didn't know how to be inviting, especially without feeling painfully out of place. On the surface, he was stale and hardened, mostly thanks to his upbringing, but it was also just a natural part of who he was. He wasn't an outgoing Chanel, or a charismatic, albeit abrasive, Brooklyn. Sometimes he did wonder how different he would be if his parents had focused on giving him a more normal childhood, and socializing him around more kids his age without making everything a competition, but only so much could have been changed, he figured, since the way he was now didn't bother him enough to make a strong effort to change. It was hard for him to make friends, but he thoroughly loved and appreciated the ones he did have, like the girl pushing him towards Makayla and Holly, even if he wouldn't really ever admit it.

With the bumpiness and strain of the past month, though, in combination with the adrenaline coursing through his veins, he did feel a sudden surge similar to the one Brooklyn felt. Subconsciously, he felt that if he did switch it up a bit, even if it was just for the duration of the trip, his actual problems wouldn't weigh so heavy on him, because they'd shed off with the other part of him that he was replacing. On the surface, he just thought why the hell not? Perhaps it would only last as long as the post-roller coaster high did, but for now, he didn't totally push against Brooklyn's nudge. And when Makayla noticed them, and did the honors of breaking the ice, he felt the biggest speed bump was overcome, and even offered a small wave. "Yeah, it wasn't too bad. It was actually pretty fun, even with Brooke screaming the entire time," he said lightly. Makayla's mention of Holly made him turn to the girl, easily picking up on the sourness in her face and demeanor. He wasn't sure what to do about that as far friendliness went, since it looked like she needed more nurturing than happy smiles, but he tried his hand at the former anymore. "That bad, huh? Hopefully you'll get on something else. You have to get on at least one ride with me and Brooke."

Holly was unfazed by Makayla's light teasing about her eating habits. She was a picky eater and she knew that, but she didn't think that it was a bad thing, or that she was unhealthy. She liked what she liked, and that was it. If anything, her tastes were simple enough that no one could complain. She didn't eat bags and bags full of groceries a week, and if she was being treated to eating out, she would be more content with a six dollar bowl of macaroni and cheese from Panera Bread than she would be with fifty dollars worth of sushi from some high end restaurant in Manhattan. It was interesting how her eating habits were on the childish side, and how it coincided with her youthful behavior, but Holly didn't think it was an actual problem. Even if it was, she was picky enough where she wasn't actively looking to change what she liked eating.

It was easy for Holly to become excited over things and people, but for some reason, that had always been especially true with Brooklyn. It was like the way that Brooklyn could be abrasive and uninterested acting only made Holly want to interact with her more. She found it quite easy to laugh off Brooklyn's more aggressive and spiteful comments as her joking, even when it was clear that she wasn't, because she found her to be that alluring. Even when she knew that she was going to be told to get out, it didn't stop Holly from walking into Brooklyn's room every time she was at Cara's apartment. Needless to say, despite still feeling physically off, Brooklyn was probably the only person who Holly was going to release her grasp on Makayla's arm for, in favor of gravitating towards. She clasped her hand around Brooklyn's wrist, ignoring Roman until then, when she processed what he had said. "It gave me a headache and made me not feel good, but now I feel a little bit better," she insisted. "I don't want to go on anything that will make me feel like this again, but Cara said there are tea cups you can sit in and spin around and around on where we're going tomorrow! We can go together, the three of us! And Makayla, you can go with Collin!" she said, leaning forward to look at her sister at the last part. Although she definitely still didn't feel well, and there was still a throbbing pain in her head that probably only Advil would cure, Holly was too optimistic to stay down for very long, especially when she had enough reason to feel excited. "Yay!" she added in with a bout of laughter after, making it evident that she was imagining the ride in her head already and enjoying it.

Earlier, she hadn't been able to fully take in Roman and Brooklyn in their Disney hats because she had initially been distracted by Roman's lollipop, and then by Brooklyn's inappropriate comment. Now she was able to realize fully what they were wearing, and Roman's definitely warranted an extra chuckle from her. "I like your hat, Ro! His ears are so floppy!" she said, gently swatting one of the black ears that hung from the hat. "Did you take it off during the ride because I bet it would've fallen off if you didn't. Chanel bought me Minnie ears because we're really good friends. She's actually my new sister since she's sharing a room with me and Makayla this week, and sisters buy each other things so that's why she bought me these!" she explained, excitedly, touching her own ears. "And I'm gonna buy Chanel something too!" she said, only then deciding that it seemed necessary, given her logic. "Maybe a mirror to look at herself in because she's really pretty, or lettuce because she's really healthy!" She had always believed Chanel to be healthy, but then again, like Makayla said, anyone really was compared to Holly. The consistent theme of the girl being healthy probably began by Makayla telling Holly to get her hands off of something of Chanel's in their fridge when they first started living together, and Makayla claiming that it was healthy food that Holly wouldn't like, even if it was theirs. She had only just become fixated on the topic today when Cara claimed that they could get ice cream, without Chanel, because she was too healthy, and it was one of those things that Holly's mind had randomly decided to not let go of. "She's really healthy! More healthy than all of us combined! She loves juice made out of green stuff!"

It wasn't like Roman was some stone cold monster who had no emotional regard for other people or capability of being friendly, but still, Brooklyn was surprised when he made good on her insistence and engaged with Makayla once the girl acknowledged them. She hadn't been joking when she told Roman he needed to be friendly now that she was going to be nice, but part of her highly doubted that he would actually do it. Though she knew that he was capable of being a nice guy, she knew his natural personality didn't include an instinct to go out of his way to converse and associate with other people that he didn't know well. Obviously, he knew Makayla and Holly (mostly because it was impossible not to know Holly with how she was), but Brooklyn knew that h wouldn't actually call either of them friends. So, whether she would admit it or not, she was impressed, to some degree, with how he was actually trying. Her instinct was to tease him about it, but she quickly reminded herself that she was going to be better too. As much as she and Roman could be terrors when they were together (with them seeing it as just being fun and playing around), they could also be normal people. A friendship like theirs couldn't truly survive off of just the former types of interactions, even if it made up a good chunk of them.

Since Roman was trying, now Brooklyn definitely had to too, and her attempt was proven when she didn't pull away from Holly the second she released Makayla and replaced her death grip with one on Brooklyn. Especially with it being fairly hot out, Brooklyn felt like shoving the girl off of her, but between her desire to be nicer, how Holly did look a bit paler than normal, and that coupled with Makayla explaining that Holly hadn't liked the ride, Brooklyn resisted the urge. Though she seemed a bit out of rhythm to begin with, Holly's normal personality soon consumed her, and her thoughts jumped around like usual. Brooklyn didn't have time to tell her that if she felt sick after this ride, then spinning teacups would probably make her feel sick too, before she was commenting on Roman's hat, and Chanel being her new sister, and then informing them about how healthy Chanel was. Though Brooklyn was aware of Holly's tendencies to exaggerate some things (and sometimes even make things up if the thought amused her enough), Chanel definitely looked like the kind of girl who could be into all of those health cleanse fads. She was thin with a nice body, and had perfect skin and hair, all things that clean eating supposedly supported. It didn't seem outlandish, so there was no need to dispute the claims, despite them being random.

"Your ears are cute. Chanel must have good taste, even if she clearly doesn't have as good of taste in food," Brooklyn assured her. "We're going to have to get Makayla a pair, though. She's your sister too; you can't forget about buying her stuff," she said, looking to Makayla with a curious sort of smile. She hoped that the girl was going to follow her lead on what she had said about the airport, about cashing in on this trip. Brooklyn was positive that Cara wouldn't even notice if her guests were taking advantage of the free benefits of the trip, so she wasn't even pushing Makayla to to hide how she planned on overspending. She just felt like Makayla deserved to lighten up a little bit and realize that this was a good opportunity to take advantage of what was being offered to her. If she was in Makayla's shoes, she would definitely do some Christmas shopping for Holly while she was here, on Cara's dollar. "But don't you think Roman would look better in a Goofy hat, Holly? I feel like he's more Goofy-ish than Pluto-ish," she said, hoping that Holly wouldn't somehow turn the innocent remark into another Cara's-mom-is-dead type of answer.

Makayla smirked as Roman made light of Brooklyn screaming during the ride. It wasn't so much of a dig, since nearly everyone sounded like they had been screaming during it, but she could still appreciate a more lighter sense of humor than she was used to Roman and Brooklyn having. She didn't interact with Roman very often, and though she appreciated how he seemed to mind his own business, since she usually saw him when he was with Brooklyn, she naturally viewed him as being a bit on the abrasive or at least unapproachable side. He didn't seem vicious or aggressive, but rather the type of person who didn't want to talk to anyone. To someone like Makayla, it wasn't a bad thing, but obviously, it didn't seem like the most appealing personality overall. In moments like this, and even sometimes when she couldn't catch Holly before she started bothering him, he didn't seem all that bad.

She could have said the same about Brooklyn, since she was relieved that the blonde responded tolerantly to Holly's grasp and energy, but she already knew that Brookyln wasn't as bad as she seemed. She was complicated in terms of that, because she could go from seeming nice and understanding to doing something to completely negate that in the next breath, but Makayla was aware that there was a nicer side of Brooklyn. It showed with Holly, and it showed with how she had gotten her the decent paying job at the strip club. Though it was often unpredictable, Makayla believed that this trip, Brooklyn's better side was more likely to show when Cara was not around. In addition to the comments at the airport about taking advantage of the trip financially, she was sure that Brooklyn was also planning on being as much of a pest as she could be to Cara as some form of payback, so she considered that maybe Brooklyn's nice side would disappear once they reunited with the group. She didn't even know if Roman and Brooklyn planned on doing that, though, since they hadn't went on the ride with them.

Since they were approaching the building with a sign matching the name of what Cara had called their meeting spot, Makayla realized they were there, and she took that opportunity to ignore Holly getting a bit over excited and possibly crossing a boundary by touching Roman's hat. "Yeah, maybe I'll get a hat or something after this," she offered. She didn't need one, but she really was trying to be more easy going this trip. If everyone else was wearing one, then why not? She knew that she was never going to be back in Disney, so having pictures that clearly showed she was here and going as in on the Disney theme as possible would be the best souvenirs she could have. "Are you guys eating lunch with us? I think this is the place Cara told us to meet her at," Makayla said, pointing towards the building that they were approaching. From the outside, it didn't look very eventful, but once they were inside they were met with a very cutely themed space, and that was only considering what Makayla could see from the waiting area room where the hostess stand was. She spotted Chanel and Cara there a few seconds after stepping in, and by then, it seemed too late to not have Brooklyn and Roman eat with them, even if Chanel and Cara hadn't intended on them coming. Just as they walked in, so did Collin, so it seemed like the group was back together now, and Makayla could only hope that that wouldn't spell trouble. "Sorry for the holdup," she offered with a smile as she approached the girls. "She seems completely fine now, so I guess that was a temporary thing."

Collin had ridden rides alone before at Disney, but he didn't like it. He wasn't so insecure that he really cared about what other people thought of him, especially when they were strangers who were all too busy enjoying the ride themselves to care that he was going on it alone. However, it just wasn't as fun riding alone. Even though he wasn't close to anyone on this trip, specifically, aside from Cara and Brooklyn, he still knew he would have had more fun sitting next to any of the others (aside from Roman, maybe), than going alone. Still, he didn't regret riding it, because Rock 'n' Roller Coaster was one of his favorite rides that Disney had to offer. Additionally, he figured that riding alone, just a minute or so after Brooklyn, was better than awkwardly sitting behind them as they enjoyed themselves as a pair and pretended that he wasn't there. Being alone was definitely better than being the third wheel to the girl you stupidly thought you might get some ass from during the trip.

When the ride was over, he got a text from Cara saying that they were eating at the Sci-Fi Dine-In. Collin had managed to avoid running into Brooklyn, Roman, Makayla and Holly as they all left the ride, and only caught up with them once he was at the restaurant. Seeing Brooklyn and Roman walk in made him want to cringe, because he knew that he couldn't control them despite what Cara expected of him, but he didn't think he could do anything at that point. They were already there, and like Cara said, Collin hoped that they realized that this was a family-friendly restaurant where making loud and obnoxious jokes about sex wasn't welcomed. Even though he was now approaching his sister, he felt inclined to text her rather than say what he was thinking out loud.

To: Cara
Just don't acknowledge her and she'll be fine

He knew that Brooklyn fed off of his sister's discomfort. She was sort of like a child in that sense, where she would act out for a reaction, but if she didn't get that reaction, she seemed to get bored enough of the behavior where she would move on to something else. Cara was too emotional, so she was already an easy target, but given what she had done with Nick made her a sitting duck when it came to Brooklyn. He hoped that they had seen the worst of it, because he was beginning to second guess whether it was worth it to have included her and Roman in the trip if he was no longer getting any benefit out of it.

"Is your party all here? A hostess asked cheerfully, looking to Cara as Collin approached. She must have noticed the sudden influx of people gravitating towards her and Chanel, and given that it was a peak time during an already busy season at the park, Collin guessed that they wanted to seat their reservations as quickly as possible. It was an open ended question that he didn't feel like he was stepping on Cara's toes by answering (though, you could never tell with her). "We're all here," he nodded.

"Great!" the girl exclaimed, in a voice that made Collin wonder if she was genuinely that happy, or just acting. "You guys can follow me then!" she continued, grabbing a stack of menus as she led them into the seating room of the restaurant. It was a big space with a night sky with twinkling stars as a ceiling, rows of old fashion looking cars with booths within them, and a big screen playing old movies in the front of the restaurant, as if it was a drive-in theater from back in the day. It was a cute setup, and something that Collin could smile about as he remembered being in awe of the place when he had first ate here years ago. Normally, he would have waited to see who wanted to sit where, but he didn't want to risk everyone else taking their seats and him being the last one standing, and awkwardly having to shove himself into a booth that wasn't meant to fit him, so he took the liberty of sliding into the middle booth in the car that they were directed to. He didn't know who would sit next to him, but he tried to seem unmindful of that as he opened up his menu.
