Denali's Story

Denali was told to scavenge some meat for the village. She normally goes by herself. She was alone in the woods when she herd some voices. She realized she was by the white devils. She peeked threw the bushes and saw some friends from her village talking to a white woman. She was furious if they weren't so close to the white mans village she would have shot the woman on the spot. She stepped out of the woods. "Chebona! Galil! What are you doing." She was young and only believed what the elders told her. "And you." She pointed at Melissa "Stay away from us or you will be dealing with me. And my two guns." Looked at the others. "Come on guys we can't let this girl corrupt us." She learned English from her father. He was a translator for the Native Americans and the new visitors.

Chebona rode on close to Denali and grabbed one of her arms, pointing his rifle at the aggressor's forehead. "Denali! Save your ammo for when someone with a gun threatens our village, do I make myself clear? I command it of you as a high-ranking warrior!"

"Good!" Chebona put away his rifle. "I'll come with you." As he rode off to help, he turned his head toward Denali. "I hate to do what I did to you, but we have enough trouble without someone starting a war by provoking foreignors."

"Her name's Melissa. I was about to get on my horse when I saw her with Gailil. Melissa started up the conversation, so I had to be polite. I don't trust the majority of those settlers, but I don't want a war to add to the list of burdens we have to face. All it takes is one shot and they'll be wanting revenge."

Chebona sighed. "I know that urge all too well... Still, we must not let our personal feelings get in the way." He pulled out the bows and arrows. "Here's an extra quiver, if you need it. I spotted a deer up ahead."

Denali sighed "You can take it. I got the next one." She looked at one of her revolvers "Ya know I killed a man to get these. Well never mind I saw the man get killed." She saw the deer that he was talking about. It was so graceful and intelligent but it had to die. She ducked behind a bush and watched it "When ever your ready." She made a small yelp to make the deer stop walking. It perked its head up and looked in there direction. She knew he only had a few seconds before it would run hopefully Chebona wouldn't miss

Chebona quickly pulled his bow's string, aimed, and fired the arrow. It hit the deer right in the eye socket, into the brain for a quick kill. The male hunter got off his horse and carried the carcass carefully to place it on the back of the horse. "You see another?"

Chebona smiled for a moment. "Thanks. You're pretty good at it, yourself." He pulled some traps and fishing spears he made earlier. "Well, the other deer must be further into the forest, today. It sometimes happens. However, we can catch some rabits, or head to the river, not far from here, to spear some fish. What do you think?" The male hunter then noticed the tracks on the ground. "Or we can follow those?"

"Oh tracks well I wouldn't mind following them." She hiked up her dress a bit and followed the tracks with her hand on her pistol waiting to see where they lead. "I hope its something big." Denali nudged Chebona

Chebona had to laugh, but quietly. He put the extra stuff up and brought the two bows and quivers with him. "By the looks of them, it could be another deer." He followed close behind Denali.
