Hallie Flores's Story

Nobody seemed to be paying attention to Stephanie, helping Theo was taking up most of the attention. Still Stephanie was right they needed to find Violet, would anyone come with her? All the people in the cave were either busy with Theo or sleeping. Goodness knows how they were managing to sleep through all this... the lucky people. To Stephanie's surprise the new girl Hallie turned to her and said "I'll help.", well at least she wouldn't have to go searching alone but this new girl was a stranger.

Stephanie opened her mouth to respond when she was interrupted by the rough voice of Cammen “Anyone who isn't helping, get out. Sit at the end of the cave, and don't look.” Eurgh. Stephanie knew what was coming and she was only too happy to follow Cammen's instructions, she didn't want to see Theo like this. Stephanie moved away to the mouth of the cave waiting for Hallie to come with her to find Violet.

Hallie looked back to the jungle once more, staring at the birds. She realized realized the girl was waiting for her. She stepped forward silently waiting to follow her lead. She was hoping to find this Violet girl quick, and that she would be okay. There was enough drama here with the dieing man, and she still didn't know what had happened when she found the rocks circling her camp. That and Saphire was somewhere, probably alone. "Also, my friend Saphire, can we look for her?" Hallie asked.

Stephanie stood for a moment at the cave's entrance and the girl Hallie seemed to notice Stephanie was waiting for her and so she stepped forward to join her, ready to find Violet. "Also, my friend Saphire, can we look for her?" Hallie asked, Stephanie wasn't too sure. Violet was the priority with her blindness she could be dead within a few hours or maybe she was already. Stephanie tried to force that thought to the back of her mind, death was not something she wanted to think about. Stephanie bit her lip and nodded at Hallie, Saphire was obviously her friend it was only natural Hallie wanted to find her. Stephanie was a little envious, she wanted someone she could talk to. Back home there had always been her dog or her baby sister to listen to her, here there was nobody.

Stephanie was about to set off with Hallie when she caught sudden movement out of the corner of her eye. Theo's previously still body was now jerking violently and he was spluttering blood everywhere. Stephanie decided right at that moment that she couldn't leave, Theo had been the one who found her and had taken care of her. Stephanie knew Violet needed to be found but that was going to have to wait, she couldn't abandon Theo. He'd never abandoned her. "I can't go yet sorry" she said to Hallie before rushing back inside the cave and sitting herself back down. She forced herself to watch Cammen and Max try to help Theo, Stephanie had to try and stay strong. Tears began to roll down her cheeks as reality dawned on her... Theo wasn't going to make it.

Hallie watched the boy's body jerk around and the blood that spurted out. She looked away, knowing he wouldn't make it. She didn't want to be here, she looked careless not crying for the dying man, but if she cried she felt so weak. Hallie concentrated hard, imagining she was anywhere else but here. First, she imagined herself in Paris, the city lights glowed and the water reflected all the shapes of the buildings. Then she imagined herself on the island, but this time the island was their school, everything was fine and no one was hurt in anyway. Hallie opened her eyes fast, she was turning into a softy. She cursed at herself angrily and went back to sit down at the edge of the cave. She lowered her eyes to the ground staring at her feet. Her eyes widened, her other foot, was gone. "What the hell?!'" She yelled staring down in disbelief, and stood up. It still felt like it was there. As she stood watching her foot, she saw it slowly become visible. She just stared in pure shock, hoping no one had seen it. "Sorry. Uh bug, was on my foot." She stuttered to the others.
