❝The Basics❞

Full Name
"We don't pick our names." Penelope Ahnnalise Frost

Nickname
"If you call me Penelope, I swear to God I'll fucking kill you." Penelope hates her name. It's stupid and she thinks it's an old woman's name. Instead, she'd prefer if you call her Pippa [ Pihp - uh ] or Pip, for short. She does like the nicknames Piper and Pepper as well. Other than that, she will accept her middle name or variations of it, like Lise [ Leese ], or Ahnna [ ah-nuh ], but if you call her Penelope, you'll be her enemy 'till you die. If she doesn't kill you. When it comes to pet names like baby, darling, sweetheart, ect., she's not fond of them. She uses them often for other people, but she hates when people use them for her she thinks they make her sound more like an object or possession than a person.

Age
"Who gives a fuck, it's not like there's cops anymore to tell me I can't do something." Just turned twenty years-old. The day of the masquerade happens to fall on her twentieth birthday.

Gender
"How many guys do you know with pink hair you asshole?" Female, clearly.

Role
"Fuck the vampires." Girl Two | Slave to the Royal Vampires

❝The Disguise❞

Eye color
"Yeah. I get it. They're great." Pippa's eyes are a shocking shade of aqua blue. They stand out sharply against her pale complexion and pastel pink/purple hair. They're also rather large, giving her a doe-eyed effect that tends to capture people and make her think she'd innocent and weak. She uses it to her advantage often, but there are times when it can be a huge pain in the ass.

Hair Color
"They made me cut it." Pip's hair used to be extremely long, hanging well past her hips, and, at times, when she really let it grow, almost to the backs of her knees. However, when she was sent to the Blood House, they cut off almost all her hair, leaving her with a crude pixie cut for easier access to the neck, so a vampire could bite her without getting a mouthful of her hair. She'd been in the Blood House for a year though, so her hair had some time to grow out. It's now down to just past her shoulders. It's choppy and crude, but it kind of fits her, flattering her face and bringing out her cheekbones. Another unique thing about her hair is that is is no ordinary color like blond or brown. She used to have deep ebony hair, but she bleached it to blond and dyed a bright magenta color over it. However, her time in the Blood House without being able to re-dye her hair has caused her roots to grow out some, making it a dark black at her scalp, bright blonde further on, and the rest of it, a frosty pale pink.

Skin Tone
"I actually used to get mistaken as a vampire a lot." Pepper has a very pale complexion. It's not sickly, and you can't see her veins like most pale people, for her, it's a smooth, icy white with hardly a blemish. While she never seems to burn, Pip rarely ever gets color either. Even if she were out in the sun for days on end. This leads some to mistake her as a vampire on occasion, for everyone knows one of the signs of a vampire is pale skin, and some idiots are too paranoid to take any chances.

Height & Weight
"I was deprived as a child." Piper didn't eat much as a kid, and there was a point in her life where she'd nearly starved to death. This stunted her growth quite a bit. She is healthy now, as filled out as she could possibly get for her body-type, but there was a time when she was little more than bones. Because of this, she is quite short, standing around 5'3", with thin limbs. She looked delicate, almost fragile with her small frame and large eyes, however, she is far from it. Her lack of weight makes her quick, and her false appearance makes her deceiving.

Distinct Markings
Scars
"I'm a fighter, and I've got the scars to prove it." While her face may be smooth and clear of imperfections, the rest of Piper's body isn't as lucky. She has various scars from fights that she wears proudly, like a badge of honor. One of her scars is on her neck and it is two small scrapes. It's not very large, it is the scar she is most proud of for, she not only almost died, she was almost sent to a fate worse than death. The scar is from a near vampire bite. The vampire lunged, but missed, scrapping her skin without actually penetrating her vein. She was nearly Turned. Another scar of hers runs down the back of her left arm from shoulder to elbow, and finally, another of her most noticeable scars sits on the side of her thigh, and is a bullet scar. The bullet nearly shattered her bone, and would have left her crippled for life, but it came just shy of it, scrapping a small hollow ridge in it that was easily healed instead. Aside from these noticeable scars, Pip's porcelain skin also has various thinner, white lines in various places, but these are just remnants of old scars, and are hardly even visible anymore, they've faded so much.
Piercings
"After having one torn out, you pretty much give up on them." Pippa doesn't have many piercings. She had an earring torn from her ear once when she was young, and since then, has pretty much vowed against most piercings. Her only few piercings are one just above her right eyebrow, and three in each ear. Save for those, she is unpierced.
Tattoos
"I like tattoos." Pepper's first tattoo is a list of Roman Numerals that run along her collarbone. This number is actually her "identity" with the vampires. When the Royals bought her, they tattooed her with this number. It signifies both, that she's a property of a Royal, meaning that any other vamp cannot do harm to her unless given permission, and which number slave she is, so they can keep track. She hates it with a passion, for it's a brand of ownership and it's in a place she can't hide it, but she can't do anything about it. Another tattoo of hers is the word fearless on her ribcage. Her third tattoo is of a black feather in the center of her back. Her fourth tattoo sits on the inside of her wrist and is a simple black word in cursive that reads "uprising." She got this as a symbol of the Hunters, seeing as she used to be one. Her final, largest tattoo is in white ink and is a rather large, complex design that runs over her shoulder. Since it's in white ink, it appears as though her porcelain skin is translucent, and the pattern is under her skin. It disappears in and out of view depending on the way you're looking at it, and cannot be seen from far away. It's really magnificent because it looks almost like it's natural.

Fears
"Baby, the word fear isn't even in my vocabulary."
☠ The Vampires → Though she's too prideful to ever admit it, not even on her deathbed, the vampires frighten her. She's afraid that they'll never get the world back to the way it was, and the vampires will just continue to take advantage of them. She uses this fear to fuel her fight against them, so she doesn't cower or hide, however, she'd be lying if she said she was completely unafraid of them.
☠ Love/commitment → Pippa is afraid of love. As far as she can tell, she's incapable of loving. She's not even sure what she feels for her brother is completely love. She prefers to keep herself numb rather than open herself up to someone and get hurt.
☠ The Dark → It's a silly fear that only children have, she knows, and she hides it best she can, but, if she's being honest, the most traumatic events in her life have happened in the dark, so the thought of being alone in darkness frightens her.
☠ Being alone → While she is afraid of love and attachment, she's also afraid of being alone for the rest of her life. Penelope is independent, and doesn't need people to survive, however, there's a part of her that wants to feel something for someone. This part of her scares her, but she's afraid that she's so broken she can't even feel the same way others do. People call her emotionless, when really, she just doesn't know how to channel her emotions, and for once, she just wasn't to feel something for somebody so she knows she isn't destroyed beyond repair.

❝Delve a little deeper❞

Personality
"I don't play well with others." No one in her life has ever truly understood Piper. She's one thing on the outside, and something else entirely on the inside. On the surface, she's bold, rebellious, and brave while on the inside, she's a roiling volcano of emotions that are just waiting to destroy her.

As a child, she kept to herself. Even her brother had trouble connecting with her and understanding her, though he came damn close. Other people just don't seem to like her. One reason is because she's blatantly rude. She's not the charming sort of sarcastic that makes people laugh, she's the sort of sarcastic that cuts deep and hurts, so people tend to shy away from her, thinking she's just flat out mean. And part of this is true. She does tend to snap at people to get them to leave her alone, however, this is not the whole truth. She really doesn't have a filter so, when she says something, nine out of ten times, she can't control it.

Another reason people tend not to like her is because she's a little wicked. She's somewhat twisted inside and almost takes pleasure in pain. Not necessarily others, she doesn't exactly like to watch someone being tortured or anything truly twisted, but she is a bit messed up. She enjoys being bad, and anything that is against the rules is fun to her. She likes to tease people and mess with their heads, for she's notorious at playing mind games. Anything from seduction to bribery, she's mastered, able to use her wicked silvertongue to talk others around her into doing just about anything for her.

On the outside, Pippa appears innocent, and sweet, someone who's delicate and needs protection, while this couldn't be further from the truth. She's just as dangerous as any vampire for she's mastered the art of spinning words, as well as fighting. She's quick and small, making it easy for her to dodge, or slip from nearly any attack. She's a fighter at heart for it gives her a way to channel the emotions inside her she doesn't understand.

Pepper has always been kind of a loner. Even before the vampires took over, she was never really very social, always stuck in her own little world. It was rather obvious from the beginning that Pippa was a little strange. She didn't seem to connect with people the same way others did. Sure, she acts like a normal person, confident and bold, a little strange, but other than this, on the surface, nothing really seems off.

Until you get to know her and you'll soon realize that Pippa has trouble feeling. She's suppressed her emotions for so long, she truly believes she doesn't have any. When she's not playing you cruelly or smarting off to you sarcastically, she seems distant and unresponsive. It's like she has two modes. Royally pissed off and cruelly happy. When she feels anything but pleasure or anger, Pippa will lock herself away for hours at a time, refusing to see anyone, as she sits and forces the emotions back until she no longer feels them.

Pippa's also extremely brave, though whether you can use the term fearless or insane for her is up to you. She's willing to do nearly anything, always signing up for the impossible, and always getting it done. As a Hunter, she was lethal, and the others knew it. When there was a job they weren't sure could really be done, they sent her on it, because they knew she'd find a way. There's something almost scary about her determination and will to succeed. It's as though, if she's not focused on tearing something apart, she's completely insane, and her brother suspects that she had various mental illnesses, as he's the only one who's ever seen her when she slips into her "moods", as he calls them.

Pip is also extremely unpredictable. Seeing as no one can really understand her, no one knows exactly what she's going to do and when, and her actions have a tendency to shock. She's like a ticking bomb that you have to handle with care, because you never really know when she's going to do or say something outrageous that will leave you speechless. She does what she wants when she wants, and her inability to connect with people almost makes it impossible to know what she wants.

Piper acts solely on whim, and though people are often calling her crazy and saying she's bound to get herself killed with the choices she makes, what people don't understand it that Pip is not randomly pulling things from out of nowhere. She follows her intuition. If her gut tells her to do something, she does it, where as most people have learned not to follow their own instincts, Piper is extremely in synch with that side of her because she knows, ninety percent of the time, her gut instinct it right, even if it seems instinct is not always logical. This is why her wild and reckless acts are so often successes, because she listens to what her heart is telling her, trusting herself.

And that's something very important to understand about Piper. The only person she connects with is herself. She understands only herself and has a hard time understanding others. She trusts in who she is wholly, however, she's very suspicious, almost paranoid of others around her. She trusts no one, and believes only in herself. She let's no one in, and talks heart to heart with no one. She's a creature of her own imagination, living within her mind, doing things because she wants to and not because others want her to. She doesn't let people around her influence her.

Despite the fact that Pip has serious issues connecting with people, she has a strange knack for reading them, and this is another thing about being around her that people hate. People tend to be uncomfortable with the fact that she can peel you apart with just a glance, and holding her eyes can be intimidating, for it sometimes feels like she's looking into your very soul, able to see your fears and desires and find ways to give them to you. It's almost as though she can read your mind.

Piper doesn't do well with rules and being tied down to one person. She doesn't like the idea of another person "owning" her, and as such, she certainly hates the fact that she's a slave to the vampires. She's rebellious and acts out against them often, making it clear that she's nobody's plaything, and it's a wonder they haven't killed her yet, though Pip knows the only reason they haven't is because she's related to her brother, one of the leaders of the Hunters and they need her for bait, information, and possible bargaining if it comes down to it.

History
"Hey, fuck off." Pippa was born into a broken household from the start. Her mother and father were both famous actors, and were all the rage in hollywood. The Famous Frost Family is what they were often called. When her mother Leighlah married her father, Tom, their wedding was covered by more than a thousand cameras and reporters. Everyone wanted the covershot of their kiss.

Then her mother got pregnant with her older brother, and the tabloids had a field day, every paper in the world wanting to cover it. Her mother was best known for, ironically, acting in various vampire and horror movies while her father was known for all the best action, thriller movies. Between the two of them, they had a movie coming out nearly every year. There had almost never been a more famous acting couple. They knew how to play the game. As soon as their names started to fade, they came out with something new.

Two years after her brother was born, Pippa came into the picture, and from the moment she was born she was surrounded with people every second of her life.

However, she'd never felt more alone.

Both her parents were too wrapped up in their careers to pay attention to their children, and both her and her brother had to pretend for the cameras that they were the happiest children alive. Piper could have thrown herself off a cliff, and her parents wouldn't have even noticed, but the papers sure as hell would. It was awful, and their home was filled with the stress of showbiz. Of having to keep yourself popular.

Her mother and father were obsessed with fame, and Pippa was fairly certain the only reason they'd had kids was because it would be a good story for the reporters. They did things for fame that would make even some of the most morally twisted people cringe, and what was worse, is that they didn't hide it from their children. Her mother and father made sure the two of them knew what was going on, and almost encouraged it.

Eventually, the pressure of fame seemed to be getting to their father because he was drinking heavily and becoming more and more dependent on drugs, until he was the focus of gossip magazines almost every week, because people were interested to see what wild, drug induced thing Tom Frost would do next. He seemed to be losing his mind, and took his frustrations out on his family behind closed doors until one night, when she was seven and it was just her and her father in the house, Pepper woke up in the middle of the night to get herself something to drink and found her father hanging dead from a rope in the kitchen. He'd committed suicide.

And of course hollywood jumped at this, bombarding the devastated family.

When she was eight was when she first learned of the existence of vampires. Her mother, depressed and following in her father's footseps of drugs and drinking, started hanging around people who were eerily beautiful and dark at the same time. People she met in underground, sleazy clubs. When she was eight years old, one of these men Turned their mother right in front of her children, draining her completely of blood and turning her from a woman who pretended to be a vampire for a living, into a walking member of the undead.

The vampire staged the whole thing like a suicide, and took the body so that he could wait until she re-awoke and feed her the blood of a vampire, completing the turn.

Now Pip and her brother were no longer part of the Famous Frost Family. They suddenly became the Famous Frost Orphans. Both parents taken tragically by suicide, America pretended to sympathize with them, but Piper found it sick, the way they globed onto tragedy like glue. Finally, when she was ten, America got what it wanted. The ultimate tragedy. The vampires attacked, taking the world for themselves and turning everything she knew upsidedown.

Her and her brother were finally forgotten. They were no longer the center of attention. They got the solitude they wanted, and struggled to survive for several years. When she was thirteen was when her brother killed his first vampire to protect her, and that was when things changed for them. Her fifteen year old brother had an idea.

He gathered as many people as he could, ages ranging from her age, merely thirteen, to twenty, and together, they started the underground Hunters. The younger ones were used for nothing more than to spread the word at first while the older ones carried out operations and hunted vampires openly, but all were taught to defend themselves.

She started hunting at fifteen, and it was clear right away that she had a knack for it. She was small, and eerily fast, making her hard to catch, not to mention the fact that she had almost a vampiric appearance about her, and the ability to smooth talk anyone around her. Her and her brother were impossible to stop, especially when they were together, for he was strong while she was fast, making them the perfect pair.

Her brother's best friend Trevor was assigned to be her official hunting partner, and he was much like her brother, strong and brave while she was quick and sly. When she was eighteen, Trevor was captured by the vampires and sent to the Blood Houses. Shortly after, Piper was caught pretending to be a vampire to buy him back and was also sent to the Blood Houses.

She spent a year there, being fed off and abused, dishing out her own abuse right back and being punished for it, before the Royals came to the House, having heard of her unruly tendencies, and the circumstances they'd caught her in, and Pip was sure she was dead. She was positive that was the end of her, but they wanted her. She was a Hunter, and good for information or even bait and bargaining, so they bought her, telling her she was to be their slave until they figured out a good use for her, and she managed to convince them to buy Trevor as well. Now she works for the vampires, though she still raises hell, making it clear that she's not happy to be their slave, having racked up a total of 432 escape attempts.

Monster

Paramore

You were my conscience, so solid, now you're like water
And we started drowning, not like we'd sink any further
But I let my heart go, it's somewhere down at the bottom
But I'll get a new one and come back for the hope that you've stolen

I'll stop the whole world, I'll stop the whole world
From turning into a monster and eating us alive
Don't you ever wonder how we survive?
Well now that you're gone, the world is ours

I'm only human, I've got a skeleton in me
But I'm not the villain, despite what you're always preaching.
Call me a traitor, I'm just collecting your victims
And they're getting stronger
I hear them calling.

I'll stop the whole world, I'll stop the whole world
From turning into a monster, and eating us alive
Don't you ever wonder how we survive?
Well now that you're gone, the world is ours

Well you find your strength in solution
But I liked the tension
And not always knowing the answers
But you're gonna lose it, you're gonna lose it

I'll stop the whole world, I'll stop the whole world
From turning into a monster, and eating us alive
Don't you ever wonder how we survive?
Well now that you're gone, the world...

I'll stop the whole world, I'll stop the whole world
From turning into a monster, eating us alive
Don't you ever wonder how we survive?
Now that you're gone, the world is ours.

Broadripple Is Burning

Margret & The Nuclear So & So's

Children, Broadripple is burning
And the girls are getting sick
Off snortin' coke up in the bathroom
While their boyfriends pick up chicks.
And darling I'm lost.
I heard you whispering
That night in fountain square.
The trashed filled streets made me wish we were heading home.

There was love inside the basement
Where that woman used to lie
In a sleeping bag we shared upon
The floor almost every night.
Oh, darling I'm drunk,
And everything that I had loved has turned to stone.
So pack your bags and come back home.

And I'm wasted.
You can taste it.
Don't look at me that way,
'Cause I'll be hanging from a rope.
I will haunt you like a ghost.

If my woman was a fire,
She'd burn out before I wake,
And be replaced by pints of whiskey,
Cigarettes, and outer space.
Then somebody moves
And everything you thought you had has gone to shit.
Well, we've got a lot.
Don't ever forget that.

And I wrote this on airplane where the people looked like ants.
And when a woman that you loved was gone,
She was bombing East Japan.
Don't fucking move,
'Cause everything you thought you had will go to shit.
We've got a lot.
Don't you dare forget that.

And I'm wasted.
You can taste it.
Don't look at me that way,
'Cause I'll be hanging from a rope.
I will haunt you like a ghost.

And I'm wasted.
You can taste it.
Don't look at me that way,
'Cause I'll be hanging from a rope.
I will haunt you like a ghost.

“My love
” Evan's voice was smooth and reminded her of a purring cat. She rolled her eyes at him, knowing he was going to dance around the answer. “There is a lot I’m not telling you.” He continued and she had to bite her tongue to keep from saying anything rude and let him finish. “You humans, seem to think you know everything about us.I’m only protecting you Pippa.” He said, his voice going from soothing to bitter the second he started talking about humans.

Pippa rolled her eyes, about to tell him she didn't need his protection, and make him answer her directly, when she was interrupted by a voice behind Evan.

“Darling
you should really calm your temper or you’ll scare the poor girl.” A feminine voice came from behind her and Pippa took another step away from Evan suddenly. Shit. She thought. Someone caught us. I

Pip glanced up and saw a look of fear on Evan's face, which shocked her, but before she could say anything, he grabbed her and forced her to stand behind him. She raised her eyebrows and looked around him to see who was there. It was a woman and a girl. She didn't recognize either of them, but she could tell instantly they were both vampires, and the woman looked like an older one. After a while of studying the vampires, it was easy to pick out which of the vampires were older, which were younger, which were Royals, and which were just changed humans.

Older vampires walked, talked, and dressed differently than newer vampires. An older vampire sometimes mixed old language with new language, walked with a practiced grace and pride, and dressed in clothes that had touches of history in them, such as corsets. Some older vampires blended well with the newer ones, but most of them were easy to pick out. Newer vampires dressed modernly, spoke using modern language, and walked and talked cockily, like they were entitled to everything.

When it came to picking apart the Royals from the Changed, it was fairly easy. For one, an older vampire was more likely to be a Royal than a Changed human because the Changed never really lasted long. They were humans who were used to having no power, and were given ultimate power, so they got cocky, and it made them the easiest to kill so they rarely lived hundreds of years like the Royals who had been born with power and raised around people who'd had the same power. Another thing was their attitude. Royals were arrogant and acted superior because of their pure bloodline, while Changed were simply cocky and ambitious.

As Pippa looked at the two vampires, she could tell the woman was older, and, most likely, a Royal. The girl was harder. She could be either a Royal or a Changed, but she definitely looked younger than the woman, so either she was a young Royal, or a recently Changed.

How much had they heard? What kind of powers did these two potential Royals have? If it came down to it, could she take them? Judging by the way Evan had shoved her behind him, yes, they were dangerous, and no, she couldn't take them. Instantly, almost as if on instinct, she started to formulate an escape route in her mind, in case she needed to get away.

“Oh I’m not here for her, I’ve come back for you.” The woman said and Pippa looked up at Evan. That still didn't explain whether or not she'd heard anything, but it did open another question. Come back for him? Who was she, and how did Evan know her?

“Lucy
I don’t want to hurt you.” He said. Well now she had a name at least, but, for a girl who liked to have everything figured out, not knowing all the details was more than just a little frustrating, and she was driving herself insane trying to put it together.

“I thought it was time you meet your daughter.” She smirked and Pip's eyebrows shot straight up as the young girl stepped out from behind Lucy. What the hell? His daughter? With who? The woman? She looked at the girl. She looked about sixteen, maybe younger, but not much older. Suddenly, Pippa's head spun at how little she knew about Evan, and she cursed herself brutally in her mind for letting herself sleep around with him without even asking him where he'd come from. What kind of a slut was she?! She knew nothing about him! “Kathryn
I’d like you to meet your father, the king of the Vampires.”

Pippa watched as the girl looked at Evan but didn't smile, and she glanced up at him, able to tell by the way he remained quiet that something was wrong. She glanced back to the girl, trying to figure out what it was, while staying quiet at the same time, not wanting to get herself killed.

She was just a slave, and, if the woman and girl hadn't heard anything, to them, she was even less. She was his next meal. Nothing more than a body. She had no right to step in and demand answers, or to show how frustrated she was with the whole situation, and if she did, she'd end up getting herself killed. Either because they'd find out she was more important than just some meal, or because she'd talked out of line.

She was always talking out of line and getting herself in trouble, but this time, she wasn't sure she'd make it out alive because she couldn't take all of them if they decided to turn on her, and she knew absolutely nothing about this woman and what her powers might be, or the daughter's even, if she was a Royal.

So she stayed uncharacteristically quiet, trying to look like nothing more than his stupid, frightened victim, and his next meal, even though, ironically, she'd just been telling him off for treating her that way.

"Close your eyes." She whispered and he smirked and did as she said, holding her close. He could hear someone calling her name, but it faded in less than a second and he knew they were moving so fast no one could see them because of the way the rain only hit them every now and then, despite the fact that, judging by the sound, it had started to downpour.

When they stopped, it was like someone turned on a faucet and the rain picked up speed again suddenly, dumping buckets on them, giving him his signal to open his eyes again. He was wearing a leather jacket, but somehow the rain still managed to soak every part of him, chilling him to the bone, but he didn't care. He felt no pain or discomfort at anything when he was with Effie because the pleasure of her touch canceled it all out.

She told him to wait and he shrugged, watching as she headed inside a sleazy hotel. Most hotels had shut down and random people had taken over their rooms, or sometimes even whole hotels, claiming it as their territory, because there was no point in having people pay to stay in a room when there was only a fourth of the population was still alive, and about every other building on the city streets was completely empty.

However, some were still open, but, sadly, it was only the sleazy ones, seeing as the nicer hotels were all in the vampire part of town. Eventually, Effie came back out and he grinned at her as she laced their fingers together and pulled them towards their room. He kept his head down, not wanting anyone to see them.

They were in the slave district afterall, and it was almost as likely that someone would recognize him as it was that someone would recognize her if they were in the vampire side of town. However, no one stopped them and he grinned wickedly as they slipped into their room and the door closed behind them.

Fin didn't hesitate. He quickly pressed her up against the wall and kissed her lips roughly. He knew he was getting attached. He could feel it. However, he pushed away all his doubts and fears for a minute and just focused on her, because she was all he could think about. His lips moved lower, along her neck as his hands slid up her back to the laces of her corset, untying them, smirking against her skin as he did so.

Effie smirked as he wasted no time to pin her against the door and kiss her roughly and she kissed him back just as roughly. His lips moved lower and she couldn’t fight the shiver that ran through his body from the feel of his lips on her skin.

She smirked as he untied her corset, her hands slipped under his shirt and she ran her fingers down his chest. Once she reached his pant line she unbuttoned his pants with a smirk as she pressed her lips to his again, his time slipping her tongue past his lips, she pulled away biting down on his bottom lip drawing blood.

But, despite how bad she wanted his blood she didn’t take any, because she wanted him to know it wasn’t just his blood she wanted, she wanted him, whether or not he was a vampire. Which was an odd felling for her, considering she’d sworn off seeing humans a long time ago.

Once he’d finished untying her top, she slipped his shirt off before she pushed him down on the bed roughly, climbing over him and pressing her lips to his, before trailing down his neck and continuing down his body. Her kisses were cold, something like fire and ice mixed together.

She hated herself for falling for him, because for all she knew he could simply be pretending to get her vulnerable and kill her and she’d be completely vulnerable in the morning, she’d fall asleep and he’d be awake and there were several ways he could kill her and she couldn’t fight back. It wouldn’t be out of character for him, she knew him well enough to know that there was nothing he wouldn’t do to take down the vampires.

Despite all the thoughts running through her head, she couldn’t bring herself to pull away.

He was surprised when Pip didn’t step out of line and demand answers like she normally did and he was grateful for that, he wouldn’t mind explain things, he just couldn’t do it now. His lips turned into a wicked smirk as he looked at the young vampire then to his ex-wife.

“Funny
because if she was my daughter, she’d have royal blood running through her veins, not the dying cells of human blood. She reeks of death.” He said causing a look of surprise to dace across Lucy’s face, before she smirked.

“Kill her.” Lucy ordered the young vampire.

The girl moved quickly, headed straight for Pip, but Even moved faster and after a quick blur of motion and a blood curdling screech, the younger vampire was lifeless in Evan’s arms before he dropped her to the ground, glaring at Lucy darkly.

“They’re coming for you Evander.” She spoke as a few other Vampires came out from other spots around the garden, even pulled Pippa closer. “Were sick of your family and the way you rule, letting humans live, we can feed from each other
the humans are useless to us, why let the weaker race even live.” She smirked “If you give in now will go easy on your little sister.” She smirked wickedly.

Then it all clicked, flash back from the night she’d been kidnapped, they weren’t hunter, they were vampires and she had staged her own kidnapping. He’d heard of the vampires who only drank from each other and wanted absolutely nothing to do with the humans calming it was dirty to feed, from them, but he’d never thought much about them.

“We need the humans and you know that.” He spat harshly “We cannot feed off each other.” He said raising his voice.

“Why of course we can we’ve been doing it for the past fifteen years and were still alive.” She smirked, she signaled to a few of the vampires and they charged Evan, but he moved quickly able to kill each one of them effortlessly, but more came out from hiding and he wasn’t scared for his safety, only Pippa’s.

“Forsaking your own kind is cause for public execution.” He remind her.

He had to get Pip out of there, there was no way he could fight off all of them even with her help they’d both end up dead and that’s exactly what Lucy wanted. By now Evander wasn’t afraid to admit that he might love Pippa, although he wasn’t completely sure yet, but he was willing to protect her no matter the cost.

“Pippa
” he whispered as he continued to glare at Lucy “Don’t look her in the eyes.” He said plainly, she only had one power, which was brain washing/mind control and that was why he hadn’t made eye contact with her. “We have to fight to get out of here.” He said calmly, if they could take out a few of her vampires, it would be easier to escape without being followed, he just hopped that they could stop fighting and size the chance to escape when they had to or else they were both going to end up dead,

“Tick toc
darling
what’s your decision. Join us or die.” She smirked and Evan rolled his eyes.

“Funny
because if she was my daughter, she’d have royal blood running through her veins, not the dying cells of human blood. She reeks of death.” He said and Pippa raised her eyebrows. Why was the woman trying to pass off the girl as Evan's daughter?

“Kill her.” Lucy ordered and the girl moved eerily fast, heading for her, and Pip was ready to dodge, but she didn't have to. Evan was fast and he killed the girl before she'd even realized what was happening.

“They’re coming for you Evander.” She spoke and Pippa watched as vampires came out of the shadows around them. There were more than she'd ever hope to kill. She could take on five or six vampires at a time, but that was only if they were all young Changed vampires. If they were older, she could take on three at the most. Maybe four. However, if they were Royals like Evan, Effie, or Lucy, she'd only be able to take one, because the Royal would take all her attention.

Well Lucy made one Royal, and the others around her could be anything, she wasn't sure, because she couldn't see them all that well. The two of them could be up against a militia of old, experienced vampires, or of new, mistake-prone vampires, she had no idea. And there was no telling how many pure-blooded Royals were in the crowd with dangerous extra powers. There was no way she would make it out alive. Even with Evan's help. “We're sick of your family and the way you rule, letting humans live, we can feed from each other
the humans are useless to us, why let the weaker race even live.” The woman was saying, and Pip watched her. She wanted to wipe out all the humans? “If you give in now will go easy on your little sister.”

She was trying to listen, not wanting to miss any information, while keep track of the emerging vampires at the same time, making sure to look for any possible escape points, as well as keeping her eye trained for any sudden movement.

“We need the humans and you know that.” Evan spat and she was surprised to hear him defending the humans, but then again, he had to. His family may not like her kind, but they hadn't completely obliterated them because they still needed a source of food. “We cannot feed off each other.” He said raising his voice to a level of intensity that made even her wince.

“Why of course we can we’ve been doing it for the past fifteen years and were still alive.” She smirked, Pip caught her signal to the vampires who instantly obeyed, but Pip didn't have to do anything because Evan handled it. She wasn't stupid though, so she didn't let her guard down and, just as she'd expected, more came out of the darkness.

Evan said something to Lucy, but Pippa didn't hear it. She was too busy counting the new vampires and getting herself under control so she didn't have a mental breakdown. She was good at that. When everyone around her went batshit crazy, Pip, surprisingly was the one to keep her head. She could keep herself in panicking in situations that would make anyone else cry, or scream, or hyperventilate. Even when she was horribly outnumbered, she didn't let herself lose it.

“Pippa
” Evan whispered, pulling her from her thoughts as she focused her hearing on him. “Don’t look her in the eyes.” Silently, she wondered why, but Pippa didn't ask, just nodded, figuring it had something to do with her power. “We have to fight to get out of here.” He said calmly, and she shrugged, having already figured that.

“Tick toc
darling
what’s your decision. Join us or die.” Pippa looked at Evan, then at the woman, then at the circle of vampires. She still could see them a little better, meaning she could see that there were a mix of old, and young vampires.

She kept her eye trained for any sudden movement, because even a small twitch at the corner of her vision could be a vampire charging her, that was how fast they moved and Fin had taught her to be able to catch the tiniest movements and signs, to the point where she could almost predict their actions, making her impossibly fast for a human.

Griff was better at fending off attacks and, if he miscalculated as was hit, he could survive because he was bigger than she was and stronger, so he didn't have to rely so much on prediction. If she miscalculated though, the consequences were much worse, meaning she couldn't afford to make a mistake, so she was quick to act, making split decisions.

"I'm fine with a fight." She whispered back with a wicked smirk. She'd missed fighting almost at much as she'd missed her freedom. It was thrilling and already, the adrenaline in her veins was giving her a rush. She hadn't done any real fighting in over a year. The closest thing she'd come was when she'd thrown the knives at the guards back in the slave quarters the night before.

So she was more than ready. She needed a weapon, because she was too weak to fist-fight a vampire, but that would be easy. All she'd have to do was wait for a vampire to advance, dodge him/her, and take theirs.

Fin grinned as her hands slipped up under his shirt and her fingers ran down his chest, icy cold, making him shiver and squeeze her tighter as his fingers worked her laces. He was moving quickly to unlace it, but it still felt too slow, and she reached down to unbotton his jeans, making him smirk as she pressed her lips to his again and slipped her tongue into his mouth.

She pulled away from the kiss, biting his bottom lip and drawing blood, making him shiver again, as he expected her to feed. When she didn't though, he was surprised and he knew it meant something. That he was more than just a meal. He shouldn't let her think that. He should push her away right then and there and kill her like Alden wanted him to do. Finally finish off the distraction.

However, he finally managed to get her top off and smirked as she pushed him down on the bed roughly and slid his shirt off as well, climbing over him. He kissed her back harshly, but passionately, holding her there with a hand on the back of her neck, before she managed to break away from the kiss and trailed her ice cold lips down his neck and body.

He groaned and slid his jeans off the rest of the way before grabbing hold of her and flipping her onto her back, wanting to get on with it as his hands slipped her pants off, and then unclipped her bra. He kissed her lips, and jaw, trailing along her neck and down her collarbone, leaving hot kisses on her skin as he slipped her panties down her legs and off with a wicked grin.

She smirked as he flipped her onto her back, his hands slipped off her pants, followed by her bra. His lips pressed against her and she smirked. He continued along her jaw line and neck, the heat of his kisses, mixed with his lips n her skin made her moan deeply and want him more. He slid her pantie off with a wicked smirk and she glanced to him matching his smirk with her own.

---
Effie could still hear the rain fall outside and it was still dark, despite the fact they hadn’t stopped for several hours and she was completely exhausted, it took a lot to wear out a vampire, especially a royal, yet Griffin had.

She sat up wrapping the sheet around her, not bothering to get dressed, more or less because she was too tired and she wasn’t leaving anytime soon. She had her bare back facing him, mostly because she assumed he’d teller he he had to leave like he had last time and she’d shrug and watch him go.

She hated that she’d given into him again, because in the in despite how either of them felt about each other, despite what her power said about neither of them dying, they’d find a way to kill each other because it was expected of one another.

They came from two very different worlds. She’d never understand what it was like to be human, because she’d never been one and he’d never understand what it was like to be a vampire, unless she turned him, which was highly unlikely.

She felt stupid, she wasn’t a trusting person, she never had been, yet for some reason she trusted the person who’d been trying to kill her for the past few years enough to sleep with him. She was supposed to be a cold hearted bitch, yet she’d moved his sister to a nicer room, because he’d asked her not to hurt Pip.

She sighed as she glanced to him over her shoulder “If you ever want to see your sister, she’d on the third floor second window.” She said softly. “Right next to my room.” She shrugged “Just don’t try kidnapping her
because I can hear everything.” She smirked.

Evan knew they wouldn’t be able to bite her and he was suddenly glad he’d marked her, because know all they could do was try and kill her, but they wouldn’t be able to turn her. He quickly counted the vampires the were more than out number.

He smirked coming up with an idea that just might give them a bigger advantage. Right in front of everyone eyes, he’d taken on the appearance of Lucy, his skin started to crawl and he was suddenly her identical twin.

The look of shock on all the vampires faces including his ex-wives, made him smirk, he rarely ever used his shape shifting power, so Lucy had never seen him use it, she wasn’t even aware of that power. He smirked.

“Careful, wouldn’t want to kill the wrong one.” He smirked knowing once they started fighting they’d be confused as to who was the real Lucy. He glanced to Pippa one last time. Before, smirking to her as a signal to go for it.

He had no doubt she could handle herself, but there were a lot of them and he knew he’d have to watch her and make sure she was doing okay.

He headed of quickly, fighting off a few of the vampires, who were hesitant, due to the way he looked. But, they ended up fighting hi in the end, though they didn’t stand much of a chance and he didn’t simply kill them, Evan was brutal when he was fighting, he ripped them apart.

The fighting was easy, most of them were new vampires a few of them more experienced, but all in all Evan took them on easily, wasting little to no energy. It was scary to watch him fight and actually see how twisted he was. He was nothing like the cool, collected and charming prince everyone saw. He was the definition of a monster, cold, cruel, and heartless.

He felt a sharp pain his chest, causing him to let out an irritated yell. He glanced down seeing a wooden stake through his chest that had nearly hit his heart, but however had stabbed him had calculated wrong and just missed. He gripped the stake with both hands, groaning as he pulled it from his chest before turning to face, Lucy and he smirked, the real vampire in him had come out, the one, he’d locked away a long time ago and had just recently brought out in front of pip.

“You missed.” He said with a wicked smirk. His caramel colored eyes had been consumed leaving even the sclera part of his eyes, pitch black and he watched as fear plagued Lucy’s eyes, because it was something vampires had worked on for centuries to lock away, until they had completely rid their selves of that side of them, yet Evan could never completely rid himself of what he truly was.

Before Evander had a chance to advance on her she blurred out of his sight and there was a loud screech, meaning she was calling of the rest of her army. The garden had cleared up within seconds and the rain had lighten to nothing but a sprinkle.

His breathing was heavy, because the wound had actually hurt him, almost killed him, he sighed as he sat down, the hole in his chest very slowly starting to close, slower than any normal wound. He glanced around for Pippa, but he didn’t see her. He hoped she was okay or at the very least, that she’d ran.

“Penelope?” he called, though his voice didn’t reach far and it was horse.

There was a small pause before, right in front of everyone, Evan changed form, taking on Lucy's appearance and she smirked at him. It was a good trick, and it would be a pretty big advantage, because even the slightest hesitation on the vampire's end would be a huge mistake.

It wouldn't do much to help her. They'd actually probably mostly charge her, seeing as they could kill her easily without accidentally killing their leader, but if they hesitated before killing Evan, he could fight through them quicker, leaving less for her.

“Careful, wouldn’t want to kill the wrong one.” He smirked and Pippa chuckled before catching his signal and nodding.

She didn't wait for one of them to come after her. She knew they were going to think she'd be easy, and that she was nothing but a weak human, so they didn't have their guard up for her, and it would be easier for her, giving her the advantage of surprise if she attacked first.

So she did. She leapt for the first vampire, and, before he even had a second to realize what was happening, she'd ripped the two daggers from his hands, stabbed him in the chest, killing him, and threw the second one over his shoulder into the chest of another vampire, all in one fluid movement.

Pip wasted no time. She wanted to glance at Evan, but she couldn't afford the second it would take so she pulled the knife from the first vampire's chest, and the others around her hesitated in shock just long enough for her to jump over his body and grab the dagger from the chest of the second one, turning back to face them, weapons out.

There were at least five of them, so she had her work cut out for her, but if she stay focused, she knew she could manage it. Out the corner of her eye, she saw one to her right twitch a little, and she knew it meant he was thinking of moving, so, without waiting, she threw one of the daggers, grinning when she heard him let out a short cry before falling, dead.

Close-combat was hard for her, seeing as it consisted of mostly dodging and trying to get a lucky strike, but, if Pippa was shooting or throwing something at you, you were as good as dead. She made her choices in a split second, meaning she was fast, and she had eerily perfect aim.

If you survived something she'd hit you with, it was because she wanted you to. Not because you were fast enough to dodge her. When a vampire came in close, she had a harder time, that was why she liked to keep them at long distances.

So she wasted no time in throwing the second dagger just after the first, causing the vampire next to him to fall as well. The other three were ready for her this time, and one made a swift grab for her. He managed to get ahold of her wrist, but she yanked it away before he could get a good grip and took a few quick steps back so she was standing between the two dead bodies.

He made another grab, this time for her throat, but she was faster and smirked, ducking, having predicted the move. When she ducked, she pulled the daggers from the bodies, and by the time she'd risen again, she'd stabbed the vampire attacking her in the chest, and thrown her second dagger into the chest of one of the two remaining vampires behind her.

Pip grinned wickedly as she watched the vampire before her die briefly before yanking the dagger out of him and letting him fall. One more, then she could probably get away before more noticed she was actually winning and they started treating her like a real threat. She took a step forward, but was stopped by a sudden burst of pain in her thigh that made her drop to her knees and cry out.

The pain was excruciating, and she looked down to see a dagger in her leg. The blade was so long, it went in the front and came right out the back. "Fuck." She breathed as she forced herself to stand. The last vampire had been watching her fight and knew she was fast, so she'd taken the dagger she'd used to kill the one standing next to her and thrown it back before she'd even had a chance to advance.

That kind of thinking only came from an older vampire. Newer vampires liked to charge head on. Older ones liked to gauge their opponent first so there were no surprises when they attacked. Well, she'd made the mistake of saving her for last, and, no sooner had she realized what happened, then the girl was on her, pushing her roughly to the ground and sitting on her.

The vampire was stronger, and she struggled, but the girl managed to rip the other dagger from her hand and raised it with both hands over her head, ready to bring it down and kill her. So Pip had to think fast.

She didn't want to do it, but it was her only option.

She grabbed hold of the knife in her leg and pulled it out with a loud cry, using it swiftly to stab the girl in the chest mere seconds before she got her.

The vampire died, and Pippa struggled to shove her off her before rolling over onto her hands and knees, throwing up from the pain. She'd experienced worse, but it was a shock to be in so much pain after so long without fighting. There was a screech that barely reached her ears, and she looked up to see that the vampires were taking off. She wondered why, but didn't question it. She was simply grateful she wasn't dead.

“Penelope?” She heard Evan call her name, and it was hoarse. She swallowed back her pain and forced herself to stand, careful to keep her weight on her good leg only as she moved around some bushes to find him sitting.

She smirked, the only indication that she was in any pain at all being her limp as she made her way over and sat next to him. "Call me Penelope again and I'll fucking kill you." She smirked as she looked over at him. He was injured, but he'd heal quickly, he was a vampire. She was just glad he was alive. Oddly enough. In the frenzy, she could have taken the chance to kill him, and then run when the rest of the vampires were too shocked to know what to do.

She'd be free again, and Griff would be proud that she'd managed to take out a second King in a manor of a few days.

However, she couldn't do it. She couldn't kill him any more than she could kill Fin if asked.

They'd been at it for hours, and Griffin was utterly exhausted when she sat up and wrapped the sheets around her, turning her bare back to him. He watched her, wondering what was wrong as a silence hung there. Was she regretting it now? Was she going to leave, even though she'd wanted to stay the night with him?

He wanted to know, but she seemed to be thinking, so he didn't interrupt her thoughts, merely waited patiently until she spoke. “If you ever want to see your sister, she’s on the third floor second window.” She said softly and he raised his eyebrows. “Right next to my room. Just don’t try kidnapping her
because I can hear everything.” He was shocked when she said that.

She'd moved Pippa out of the slave's quarters and put her in a regular room? Why? For him? He looked at her for a second, not knowing what to say. It was a fairly huge favor that she was going to try to keep Pippa from getting hurt despite the fact that he knew she had to be causing a lot of trouble so it would look a little suspicious.

"Thanks." He said simply, sitting up and placing a kiss on her shoulder as he rubbed her back and thought. "I hate using her to see you." He shook his head, not believing that he was openly admitting his feelings to her, but going on. "I'm supposed to take care of her. I've been raising her since I was old enough to hold her without dropping her." He smiled against her skin as he kissed up her shoulder and neck, stopping just under her ear. "So it's good to know you're treating her well."

With that, he wrapped his arms around her tightly and pulled her back down with him. "Now come on, you said you wanted me to spend the night with you, so I'm not going anywhere, and I won't let you either." He smirked. "We can sleep now, if you're too tired, or we can stay up and talk for a little longer if you want. I'll tell you anything about me you want to know."

He was surprised he was being open with her, but he was sick of fighting her all the time. It felt good to actually say something meaningful to her, something that wasn't sarcastic or right before she threw a knife at him.

"Thanks." she shrugged as if was no big deal, although it was a huge deal, he kissed her and her entire body was on fire "I hate using her to see you." she listened without interrupting him, like she normally would. "I'm supposed to take care of her. I've been raising her since I was old enough to hold her without dropping her." she could feel him smile against her skin before his lips started moving up her neck setting her whole body on fire again, causing her to moan softly. "So it's good to know you're treating her well."

He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her back to the bed and she laid her head on his chest pulling the blanket over the both of them as she wrapped her arm around him, kissing his chest softly.

"Now come on, you said you wanted me to spend the night with you, so I'm not going anywhere, and I won't let you either." she rolled her eyes, sighing "We can sleep now, if you're too tired, or we can stay up and talk for a little longer if you want. I'll tell you anything about me you want to know."

She was surprised at his offer of telling her whatever she wanted to know. If she was being honest with herself she wanted to know everything, but she knew hearing about him would only make her care about him more. Because despite what everyone thought about Effie, she’s more compassionate then she lets on.

“I like that your mysterious.” She said simply as she drew endless shapes on his chest with her finger “If I know too much about you I might actually start to like you.” She smirked. “So let’s just lay here and pretend there’s nothing keeping us apart.” She said softly.

Evander hoped she was okay, he hadn’t been able to keep an eye on her liked he’d wanted to, so for all he knew she could be dead, then he’d really have it out for Lucy. He sighed as he sat there, weaker than normal due to his wound still healing. He heard someone walking towards him and he glanced up just as she was sitting down next to him and he couldn’t help but smirk.

"Call me Penelope again and I'll fucking kill you." he laughed as he looked at her glad she was okay.

“Well at least I know your fine.” He smirked. “It’s not all that bad of a name, you know.” He said looking around at all the lifeless bodies “I knew a duchess in the 1800s, her name was Penelope.” He said with a sigh “She was beautiful
not as beautiful as you though.” He said with a wicked smirk.

He sighed as he assessed the damage they’d done and he was glad to have shedded Lucy’s appearance and he was himself again. The rain had completely stopped and he knew it was close to sunrise. It was like an internal clock for Vampires, they knew when they had to sleep and they knew when they could go out.

“You did a hell of a job taking out those vampires.” He said as he stood up offering her his hand and helping her up. “We should probably get back before anyone realizes that were both gone.” He sighed, not really wanting to go back.

"Well at least I know you're fine.” Evan smirked and she shrugged as if a wound going all the way through her thigh was no big deal. “It’s not all that bad of a name, you know.” He said and she raised her eyebrow and laughed. Penelope was one of the worst names she could think of. It sounded like the name a grandmother would have. However, he'd been alive during that time, so it didn't seem so bad to him. “I knew a duchess in the 1800s, her name was Penelope. She was beautiful
not as beautiful as you though.” He said with a wicked smirk and she rolled her eyes at the line.

Pip watched as he sighed and looked around them at the bodies. She'd done a lot better than she'd thought she could have, taking out seven in all. He'd done better than her, that was obvious, but still, seven vampires to one human was pretty damn amazing. Especially seeing as one of those vampires had been an older one and had nearly killed her.

It had finally stopped raining, but she was still soaked all the way through, and it had been a miracle she hadn't slipped and broken her ankle in the middle of the fight. “You did a hell of a job taking out those vampires.” He said as he stood up and offered his hand. She smirked and took his hand, careful to keep her weight on her uninjured leg and the wince of pain off her face as she did so. “We should probably get back before anyone realizes that were both gone.”

Pip glanced around and sighed. The last thing she wanted to do was go back. Trevor would be wondering why the hell she had a huge stab wound that went all the way through her leg, not to mention the fact that she was soaked from the rain, and she'd have to come up with some bullshit story about how she'd been trying to sneak out over the garden wall when one of the guards caught her.

She just wasn't up for it, and she didn't want to have to suffer through a day of chores the next day, limping around. Not for the first time, she wished things weren't so complicated and they could just disappear and not come back for days. Maybe forever. But that made no sense because he was King, and she was closely watched by the guards due to her escape record, so she knew it'd be too risky. "Alright." She said with a deep sigh as she looked up at him. "If anyone asks, one of your guards got me while I was trying to climb the wall and get away."

Fin grinned when she didn't fight him and rested her head on him, pulling the blanket over them as she kissed his chest.

“I like that you're mysterious.” She said and he had to hold back a shiver at the way her fingers felt as she traced shapes on his chest. “If I know too much about you I might actually start to like you.” She smirked and he rolled his eyes and chuckled. “So let’s just lay here and pretend there’s nothing keeping us apart.” She said softly.

Griffin laughed lightly and wrapped his arm around her, squeezing her lightly as he kissed to top of her head. "There's something keeping us apart?" He teased as if he didn't know, when, in reality, he was all too aware of the fact that they'd never be together. Not really anyway, and it killed him.

It was hard for him to admit, and he probably never would, but he wanted to be with her like he'd never wanted to be with any other girl. He thought about her all the time when they were apart, and every time he went out hunting, he hoped to run into her.

He was falling for her, he knew that, and it pissed him off that she was a vampire and he could never have her. If he had to fall for someone, why couldn't it be someone he could have? It didn't seem fair. He'd more than payed his dues, and yet fate liked to fuck things up for him at every possible turn, making sure, the one thing he wanted, he could never have.

"There's something keeping us apart?" he teased, but it away she was glad he’d asked the question and played along, she wished the question was sincere and real, but it could never be.
She let the silence hang between them, simply taking in the moment, continuing to lightly draw on his chest. She knew that this could last forever between, she’d be content with spending an eternity with him or growing old and dying. But, he’d never willingly be turned even for her and she’d never be human. So instead when he grew old and died, she’d spend a eternity alone, because she knew after being with him, she’d never want to be with anyone else.

Despite the fact that his Death Clock had change and according to it he’d live forever like her, it had changed once, which meant it could change again. It was a miserable feeling, wanting something that would never truly be yours.

“You know I didn’t always hate humans.” she finally said interrupting the silence, with her whisper. “But the humans never really liked us.” She said softly “We were always being hunted, we always had to hide. It was a nightmare.” She said with a shaky voice she’d never admitted her feelings towards the humans to anyone. “Hunters like you killed my brother and my first boyfriend.” She bit her lip to keep from crying, she wasn’t blaming him, she was openly letting him know why she’d grown so cold towards the humans. “Were monsters I get that
but I didn’t ask to be this.” She said.

She hoped she hadn’t said something to piss him off, because she’d only meant to explain why she was so bitter and she assumed he’d take offence to it and so she sat up, moving away from him and sitting on the edge of the bed. If he wanted to kill her, she was completely vulnerable and open and she wouldn’t fight back, she couldn’t kill him now no matter how much it was expected of her.

He smirked as she took his hand "Alright. If anyone asks, one of your guards got me while I was trying to climb the wall and get away." he smirked, before looking down at her leg.

He’d smelled the blood, but he tried to keep his mind off of it. Her blood was like the purest form of any drug at least for him it was and he knew it was different for every vampire, but he blood was completely intoxicating to him. He was surprised he hadn’t killed her because of it yet.

He nodded as he pulled her close and before she had anything to say everything was blurred around them and within a few moments they were inside his darkened room. The Castel was quitter than usual and he assumed it was because both of his sisters were out and his mother hadn’t come out of her room since there father had died and the slaves were asleep.

He leg go over her running his fingers through his hair “You could spend the night and no one would notice.” He smirked “You could slip out sometime tomorrow afternoon.” He offered as he pulled out one of his shirts and tossed it too her, as if she’d already said yes.

He quickly peeled off his wet cloths before changing into some dry pyjamas , he sat down on his bed yawning as he glanced up to her gesturing for her to join him.

“So you want to know who the mysterious Lucy is or would you like to know why the mark on your neck from earlier is already scared over?” he asked with a smirk knowing she had a tone of questions.

Pippa smirked as he pulled her close, and didn't protest as the world around them blurred before refocusing a second later. She glanced around vefore looking back at him with a wicked grin and raised eyebrow. They were in his room, not the slave quarters or her new room like she'd expected.

Evan let go of her. “You could spend the night and no one would notice.” He smirked and she chuckled. “You could slip out sometime tomorrow afternoon.” He offered and pulled a shirt out for her, tossing it over to her. She caught it and smirked as she pulled off her soaked clothes and pulled his shirt down over her head, tugging her pink hair through the neck hole.

It fell just shy of the new wound on her thigh, which was still in agonizing pain, though she did her best to keep it to herself, not wanting him to worry. Pip watched as he went over to his bed and gestured for her to join him.

“So you want to know who the mysterious Lucy is or would you like to know why the mark on your neck from earlier is already scared over?” When he mentioned the mark, she raised her finger to her neck to find that it was scarring. Her eyebrows knit in confusion and she remembered the pain she'd felt when he'd fed from her. That was definitely something that would need explaining.

Pip sighed and made her way over to the bed, pressing her lips to his before crawling in next to him. "I want to know about both." She said simply, glad he was offering to give her answers, but also wanting him to keep talking. She didn't really care about what he was talking about. Whatever it was, she'd be able to focus her thoughts on him and his voice instead of the pain in her leg if he kept talking. "But start with the mark." She said, deciding she wanted to know about that first because that was what confused her more.

Sure, she wanted to know who Lucy was, but, judging by their interaction, he'd known her long ago, and, from the way she'd tried to make the daughter out to be his, they'd probably slept together, at least once. And anyone could tell just by talking to the woman that she was batshit crazy and hell-bent on using her little army/cult to obliterate the human race.

Though she wanted to know, she was less interested in Lucy. What she really wanted to know was why he'd deliberately hurt her, and why she suddenly had a scar, and what it meant because that was more personal and much more confusing.

Silence hung between them as she continued to draw light shapes on his skin and he held her, wishing the moment could last forever. That, somehow, he didn't have to go back to Alden and his Hunters and she didn't have to go back to the King, and being royalty.

“"You know I didn’t always hate humans.” Effie whispered and he was shocked by her confession, but didn't say anything, sensing there was more to come. “But the humans never really liked us. We were always being hunted, we always had to hide. It was a nightmare.” She said and he held her closer as he heard her voice shake. “Hunters like you killed my brother and my first boyfriend.” He winced and closed his eyes. “We're monsters I get that
but I didn’t ask to be this.”

Fin watched as she sat up on the edge of the bed and he took a deep breath, trying not to let her words hurt him too much. She was right. She didn't ask to be the way she was. She'd been born a killer, and her prey just happened to be humans. It was easier to do what he did if you didn't let yourself sympathize with them. If you didn't think of them as people, but as souless instead.

And there were vampires like that who saw themselves as superior to the humans, and who's power made them twisted and ruthless. Who deserved to die for the way they treated the humans.

But how many vampires had he killed who'd only drank blood to survive?

No one hunted him and killed him for enjoying a candy bar. It was horrible to think of it that way, but that was the bottom line, and the question the thoughts brought up hurt him like nothing else.

Who were the real monsters?

Humans had been looking to control everyone and everything around them since the beginning of time. What they couldn't domesticate, control, or understand, they killed. Vampires had sat by, by far, the more powerful race, and watched for centuries. They had a cruelness in them and a love for the dark and twisted, it was their instinct. But did that make them evil? Before meeting Effie, he would have instantly answered yes. All vampires were evil, but, after meeting her, he wasn't so sure and it was horrible. Everything he'd believed in for years was being torn to pieces in a manner of days.

He should have killed her. Still should. His knives were on the floor and she'd made herself open to him. It'd be easy. Fin shook his head and forced the thoughts away before sitting up and kissing her shoulder. "I've hated vampires since I learned they existed." He said with a sigh, leaving his lips there on his shoulder as he thought. "But I'm not totally sure anymore." He shook his head and wrapped his arms around her. "I mean sure, there are bad vampires." He smirked against her skin. "And by that I mean really bad." He chuckled lightly. "But there have been bad humans too. I mean, as far as evil goes, we pretty much take the cake with Hitler." He teased, trying to keep his words light. "But I think I'm just starting to realize that there can be good vampires too."

Fin whispered that last part as he moved her hair aside gently and moved his lips along her shoulder and up her neck, letting her know he was referring to her.

It was quiet for a moment but she heard him sit up on the bed and she sighed figure he might leave, or worse take the opportunity she’d obviously given him. She had to fight back a shiver and a shocked expression when he did nether, he sat behind her yet again and again he kissed her shoulder.

"I've hated vampires since I learned they existed." she winced visibly, but she let him continue "But I'm not totally sure anymore." he wrapped his arms around her and she leaned into him "I mean sure, there are bad vampires. And by that I mean really bad." She smirked [b]"But there have been bad humans too. I mean, as far as evil goes, we pretty much take the cake with Hitler." she knew he was trying to handle the conversation calmly and she was grateful for that. "But I think I'm just starting to realize that there can be good vampires too."

He whispered his last words as he moved her hair away from her neck and as much as she tried she couldn’t fight the shiver as his lips moved along her shoulder and up her neck, causing her to moan softly.

She turned to him pressing her lips against his and kissing him deeply, but the kiss was apologetic and forgiving at the same time, as if that could be there last night together and if she ended up killing him, she was sorry, but if he killed her she’d already forgiven him. She wasn’t sure if it had come across that way, but she hoped it had.

“We should both get some rest.” She said finally pulling away, pushing him back down playful as she laid back down on his chest.

She knew she probably wouldn’t sleep, but he was tired and he’d have a long ways to walk in the morning depending on where his hideout was.

He watched as she came over and crawled into bed, kissing his lips as she did and he kissed her back. He was glad she hadn’t fought staying the night with him, if she had he wasn’t sure he’d have fought back, because he was so tired.

"I want to know about both." She said and he’d figured as much [b]“But start with the mark." she said making one more important than the other.

He lend back on his elbows so he was laying closer to her as he thought about how he wanted to word it, so that she wouldn’t be pissed off that now she wasn’t just a slave in particular, but she solely belonged to him and her blood would be like a poison to any other vampires who tried to feed from her. It was very uncommon for a vampire to mark a human, but he’d done it to protect her.

“The bite was different because, I wanted to protect you.” He sighed pretty much admitting that he cared about her without actually saying it. “It’s scaring because it a marking. In so many words
you belong to me.” He said glancing to her knowing that wouldn’t sit well with her, but it was already done and there was no reversing it.

He paused for a moment sitting back up, running his hands through his hair, thinking back, she was the only human he’d ever marked and the thought of that scared him, although he’d never admit that. It was like a murder openly marking there next kill for the world to see
only he wouldn’t be killing Pip like everyone would expect him to.

“Your blood it like poison to any vampire but me.” He finally said. “They can try and kill you but they can’t feed from you.” He said glancing back at her over his shoulder.

Pip watched as he leaned back and looked about her, clearly thinking about the best way to put it to her. Great. So, whatever it was, it would piss her off. Just what she needed after the night they'd had. She sighed deeply and waited for him to speak.

“The bite was different because, I wanted to protect you.” He sighed and she raised her eyebrows. He cared that much? Why? They hardly knew anything about each other, merely had sex a couple of times and fought together once. However, even as she thought it, she realized she would have been more than a little disturbed had he died in the fight. Why, she had no clue, and it was shocking, seeing as she probably wouldn't even blink if Trevor died. She'd be a little upset, but she'd get over it quickly. If Evan died, she'd feel like there was something missing that she'd just recently found. “It’s scaring because it a marking. In so many words
you belong to me.” He, pulling her from her thoughts and making her raise her eyebrows higher.

Great. So now she officially belonged to him. As if the clearly visible collarbone tattoo they'd given her wasn't a clear enough indication that she was his slave. As if being a slave wasn't bad enough. Now she was marked as, not only his slave, but his own personal blood bag. A human wouldn't know what it meant, they'd just assume she'd gotten it in a fight, but a vampire would.

She watched as he paused and sat up, obviously upset. “Your blood is like poison to any vampire but me.” He finally said and she sighed deeply. “They can try and kill you but they can’t feed from you.”

Pip didn't answer right away, not sure what to say, torn between being angry, or giving it up because she was just too tired to fight him. Silently, she wondered if anyone would catch on to her and Evan, or at the very least, assume something was going on between her and some other vampire when they saw the mark. Feeding could be a pleasurable experience. She should know. That meant, she had no doubt in her mind that humans and vampires slept together often, it was a part of the whole vamp seducing their prey thing.

However, they very rarely left them alive. Especially not as long as Evan had left her alive. Would someone realize that, since she'd been kept alive, more was going on than just feeding? Pip didn't want to think about it. She ran her fingers over the small scar and bit her lip. She belonged to him. She was his own personal blood drive.

The thoughts made her stomach turn, and she had to sit up as well, despite the pain in her leg, she had to walk a bit, feeling suddenly restless, so she paced, or limped, was more like it, back and forth as she tried to think of something to say. That he had no right? That she didn't want to belong to him? That what they were doing was going nowhere? No, Pip ran shaky fingers through her pink hair. She didn't want to say those things because she wasn't entirely sure they were true. Especially that last thought. It was all too clear that what they were doing was going somewhere, and fast, and that frightened her.

"What about Lucy?" She finally said, halting in her pacing to look at him because it was getting to painful to move, so she leaned on the wall for support as she watched him, wanting to change the subject so she didn't have to think about the fact that she'd suddenly become his possession, because, for once, she didn't want to say something she'd regret. "Who is she?"

Griffin grinned in satisfaction against her skin as she shivered and moaned, running his fingers lightly down her spine as she leaned back into him. She turned and pressed her lips against his, and he kissed her back, slipping his hand into her hair to hold her in the kiss.

She kissed him deeply, and he detected several layers to the kiss. It was apologetic and forgiving at the same time, and he wasn't sure why she felt the need to apologize, or forgive, but he didn't fight it, merely accepted it and wrapped his fee arm around her, pulling her in and moving his lips away from hers, down her neck.

He was utterly exhausted, but he couldn't help it, he was just about to pull her down and go another round with her when she pulled away and spoke. “We should both get some rest.” She said as she pushed him down and layed her head on his chest.

Fin chuckled and sighed, pulling the blanket up around them and wrapping an arm around her, holding her body to his, loving the way her skin felt icy cold against his. "You're probably right." He said with a sigh and a yawn. He didn't want to sleep until she did, but he knew that'd be impossible. He'd had a long night, and was still fairly injured from his fight with Effie the night of the masque, so he knew he'd be passing out well before her.

"You're probably right." he said and she was glad he agreed.

She laid with him listening to his heart, wishing she had her own, she’d always wanted to be human, though she’d never actually admitted it to anyone, because saying it out loud would be wrong, she’d be betraying her own race.

She glanced up to him once he’d fallen asleep and she silently sat up stepping off the bed as she slipped her cloths back on, there was no way she was sleeping after everything she’d admitted to him and everything he’d said to her.

She was mad at herself for having let it gone this far, she sat down on the desk chair as she glanced out the window, before freezing seeing a pair of glowing yellow eyes watching her from the shadows.

“Shit.” She whispered.

She knew it was Ezra and she knew he could smell Griff, he’d always been able to pick up his scent before her, he would be beyond pissed. He’d sworn to protect her since he’d met her and now she was purposely going against what he asked her not to do. She sighed as she stood up grabbing the card to the room before slipping out the door into the fridge air, that even made her cold body shiver.

In a matter of seconds, there was a big black wolf headed her way and right before her eyes, he’d changed into his human from which meant he was more pissed then she thought if he was confronting her as a human. He grabbed her roughly slamming her into the wall, knowing he wasn’t actually hurting her, but just trying to scare her.

Effie held back a small whimper. She couldn’t fight Ezra, she didn’t have it in her, she loved him. She didn’t want to see the disappointment in his eyes so she looked away, but he grabbed her jaw forcing her to look at him. Just as she predicted disappointment and anger were written all over his face.

“What the hell do you think you’re doing.” He growled in a low voice that almost matched a wolves growl. “Do you know what I had to do to get Slyder, Leighlah, and the rest of that fucking gang off your back?” he said centimetres from her face.

Her breathing was heavy as she fought back tears. “Ez, I’m sorry.” She breathed in a shaky voice.

He forced her against the wall roughly once again, as if to knock some sense into her and she bit her lip until she tasted her own blood to keep from crying.

“Sorry doesn’t cut it Persephone.” He spat harshly “Your little innocent, pretty girl act doesn’t work on me.” He glared at her. “So cut the shit.” He shook his head, not able to belief how much she was putting on the line for a hunter of all humans. “How stupid can you be Ef?” he asked trying to understand her.

She didn’t answer right away and somehow that was worse then if she’d have yelled at him, because he couldn’t read her mind as much as he wished he could, he couldn’t. He watched as she got up and started to limp about the room and he wished desperately, he could have one of the royal vampires with the power to heal help her, but that would be beyond suspicious.

He looked away from her sighing, he wasn’t sure if she was mad or okay with the idea, because her face was showing a kaleidoscope of emotions all equal making it impossible for him to know which was the stronger emotion. He ran his fingers through his hair as he looked down, still sitting on the edge of the bed.
It was quite for longer than he wanted it to be, but he’d already said all he could and now he was just waiting for her to speak. He glanced up to hear when the room went silent, because she was no longer pacing.

"What about Lucy?" she finally said and he sighed, that was just one more thing that would more or less frustrate her. "Who is she?" he debated on whether or not he actually wanted to tell her.

He let silence hang between them yet again. If he told her who Lucy really was he’d be divulging more information to her then he’d ever told any other human and he wasn’t sure making himself that vulnerable was the best idea. He could simply say she was just an old friend and more than likely get away with it, but he didn’t exactly want to lie to Pip. If Lucy was going to be after Evan and Pip was going to be with him, she needed to know who she was.

He took a deep breath before releasing it as if bring up his past was going to be hard. “She was my wife.” He finally said “We were married for five years, we were expecting a daughter.” He said as if it still hurt “But she lost the baby when the hunters kidnapped her.” He swallowed “I only know she lost the baby, because of Effie.” He said glancing to Pip “That was fifteen years ago.” He sighed “Only, tonight she made it clear it wasn’t Hunters.” He swallowed looking away from pip. "All this time I thought she was dead." he shook his head.

there was a long silence for a minute as he seemed to be debating what exactly he wanted to tell her and she crossed her arms over her chest, watching him. If he thought he could get away with not telling her after what she'd just gone through, he was stupid. She'd make him tell her wether he wanted to or not. He owed her that much.

She was about to demand it out of him when he took a deep breath. “She was my wife.” He finally said and that caused her to raise her eyebrows. She hadn't been expecting that. Suddenly, the pain in her leg and exhaustion in her body seemed to catch up with her at the same time and she sunk down onto the bed next to him with a sigh, listening. “We were married for five years, we were expecting a daughter. But she lost the baby when the hunters kidnapped her. I only know she lost the baby, because of Effie.”

She layed back and there her arm over her eyes so she could only hear his voice, but his tone made her glance out at him from underneath it and study his face. He sounded pained, and she couldn't blame him. He'd thought his wife was dead for god-knew-how-long only to find out that, not only was she alive, but she'd turned into a genocidal bitch dead-set in killing off the human race.

“That was fifteen years ago. Only, tonight she made it clear it wasn’t Hunters. All this time I thought she was dead." Pip sat up and looked at her hands for a minute, not sure what to say. She'd never been great at comforting people. When people were upset she tended to feel uncomfortable and made a sarcastic comment they thought of as rude and only made the situation worse.

"Awesome." She smirked and rolled her eyes with a sigh. "Not only am I fucking a vampire, and not only is he the King of vampire, but now he's married too." She rolled her eyes and sighed before leaning over and placing her lips against his cheek. "I'm sorry your wife turned into Hitler." She smirked and moved her kiss from his cheek to his lips.

Eventually, Fin fell asleep, though sleep wasn't exactly the right term for it. He never really slept anymore. He was always half-in, half-out because real, deep sleep was too risky in the new world.

So he was an extremely deep sleeper. Even as exhausted as he was, he stirred when Effie did rolling over and watching as she got dressed, intending to slip out on him. He didn't say anything, but as soon as she'd gone, he sat up, pulling on his jeans and going to the window, watching.

A glint caught at the corner of his vision and he shifted his eyes from her to the darkness beyond, spotting a pair of glowing good eyes in the night. As Grif watched, those eyes moved and the sleek body of a wolf followed. Her loyal companion, much like Monster was his.

He was about to sigh and turn away from the window to run outside and ask why she was leaving when, as he watched, the wolf changed form, taking on the shape of the man he'd seen with her earlier. He raised his brows. So there were other creatures if fantasy out there? Not just vampires? How many were in hiding still? How long until they all followed the vampires example and the took over the world completely? What would life be like then?

As he watched, the mad slammed Effie roughly into a wall and he winced just watching as he yanked her around, yelling at her. He could hear his voice, but not the exact words.

Griff sighed and grabbed his knife, not bothering with his shirt or shoes, walking out into the night and standing in the doorway of the hotel. The man had his back to her, too busy terrorizing Effie and he ran his fingers through his hair. He shouldn't be getting involved, but he didn't like him hurting her that way. "Everything okay here?" He asked, turning his eyes to Effie's, letting her know with his gaze that, all she had to do was say no and he'd step in and help her.

Pippa shivered when he placed his cold hand on the back of her neck to hold her there, making sure she couldn't pull away, kissing her back. His kiss deepened and she moaned into him as his tongue slipped into her mouth and slid his hands up under her shirt, letting them openly explore her body, making her shudder at the ice in his touch.

Her pain was completely forgotten, and every part of her body told her she wanted more as she leaned into him. Inside, her mind was telling her no. That she'd regret it later because he had a tendency to be rough, and she'd probably only make her wound worse. Still, it'd be worth it, so she slipped her hands under his shirt as well, and was about to pull it off when he pulled away.

He held her eyes with a smirk and Pip knew she had to look flushed, because she was breathing heavily, and her heart was beating wildly. "She's not my wife anymore." He whispered, and she took a deep breath to calm her racing heart and pulled her hands from under his shirt with a smirk.

"That ship sailed the second I kissed you." Pippa smirked and rolled her eyes. Normally, she'd have said something about him assuming there was a future for them, but she stayed quiet this time. What was the point in denying it? He'd already claimed her and there wasn't a damn thing she could do about it. She wasn't thrilled to be his property, but she'd also given up trying to think that they'd have sex a few times and then move on because that was clearly not the case. They were both getting attached, she could feel it, and it was frightening, and exciting at the same time.

Silently, she wondered if it was just because she'd let him feed from her so many times that she was getting attached. It was hard for a human not to grow attached to a Vampire that's fed from them and everyone knew that, the more a human was fed from, the more desperate they became. Was that what was happening to her?

Or was it something else? Was she feeling something for him she'd never felt for anyone before?

If he were human it would be easy to tell, but, because he was a vampire, things were hopelessly complicated, and she knew sorting out her feelings about him was only the beginning.

"I gotta admit... Watching you in action tonight, so hot." He teased and she rolled her eyes and laughed lightly as he dragged her from her thoughts. She pulled herself into his lap carefully, as not to hurt her leg, and grinned wickedly.

"You had time to watch me?" She raised a brow and laughed lightly. "Remind me never to fight you." Pip smirked because they both knew that was a lie. She liked to irritate him and the other vampires.

“Everything’s fine.” Ezra spat and Griff rolled his eyes because he hadn't been talking to him, but he did take a step away from her, so that was good. “It’s him or me Effie.” He said simply and Griffin raised his eyebrows and flicked his eyes to Effie's. He could see the look in her eyes when he said that. She didn't want to have to choose. Which meant she cared them both. He turned his eyes on the wolf and sighed, running his fingers through his hair. If he was important to her, he knew who she'd choose because the odds were completely against him. She'd known the wolf for much longer than she'd known him and, not only that, but choosing him was a hell of a lot more dangerous as well as socially wrong.

“Fuck you.” She spat, surprising him with her harsh glare, and he turned his eyes on the man, keeping his knife ready in his hand in case he tried to hurt her and he had to throw it. He wouldn't kill him, since he meant something to Effie, but he wouldn't hesitate to give him a good shoulder or leg wound he wouldn't forget.

"The sun's coming out soon Princess. Make your choice
you know Evan can smell him on you it’s only a matter of time before everyone catches on.” He said before turning to face him and Fin raised his eyebrows casually, looking him over like he wasn't a threat when, in reality he was. Fin was trained to fight vampires and he was scary good at it, but, until now he hadn't known shape-shifters existed, so he didn't know his weaknesses or what moves to use, and if there was one thing Fin hated, it was going into a fight blind. “You’d be wise to stop messing around with her
She’s practically Slyder’s girlfriend and she doesn’t have a heart.” He rolled his eyes and sighed as if bored as he closed the space between them.

“Effie doesn’t love
she doesn’t know how. She plays the innocent to get what she wants
trust me I’ve known her longer then you’ve been alive. Think about it. She could easily kill you just by touching you, but she hasn’t
taking you and your gang out
” He trailed off with a shrug.

“Ezra stop it!” Effie yelled.

Griff raised his eyebrows at Ezra before looking at Effie over his shoulder, like he was about to sigh and agree with him, before flicking his gaze back to Ezra's again, letting it grow mocking as his lips turned up in a cocky smirk. "Down boy." He said, knowing the dog command would piss him off. "Look, it's nice that you're trying to warn me at all, and I really appreciate the threat hidden in there," he said casually before glancing back at Effie. Ezra's word were convincing, but he wasn't afraid that she was playing him. She could be, but if she was, he'd catch onto it. "However, I think I can handle myself." He shrugged, saying it as he held her eyes before flicking them back to his. "I'll be sure to give you a call when I need your advice."

She hated the fact that Ezra was threatening Fin, by trying to make him believe Effie was some monster with absolutely no conscience and although that’s what most humans that, she’d just proved Griffin wrong a little bit ago when she’d opened up to him.

Despite Ezra’s cruel attempt to protect her, she still couldn’t bring herself to be mad at him or fight him. It would be like fighting Evan and that was something she could never do. There were only two people creatures in the entire world that scared her, Her brother and Ezra. She refused to fight either of them because they could easily kill her both of them.

She caught the look in Griff’s eyes, a sign he hadn’t fallen for Ezra’s threats and she smirked, though she was a little worried her wolf would lash out if Fin made one of his sarcastic comment, that she was almost certain would follow.

"Down boy." He said belittling him and Effie quickly moved to his side as if preparing to jump between the two of them if they fought "Look, it's nice that you're trying to warn me at all, and I really appreciate the threat hidden in there, However, I think I can handle myself." He shrugged, Seph was glad he hadn’t believed Ezra, but she also wasn’t looking forward to dealing with him when she got home. "I'll be sure to give you a call when I need your advice."

It was silent for a moment, before Ezra finally relaxed, he’d gotten so tense, Effie was sure he was about to lunge. But, he hadn’t which surprised her as he glanced back to Effie with a smirk.

“I can’t wait to say I told you so.” He said darkly before creating distance between them until he disappeared back into the shadows.

“You weren’t supposed to see that.” She sighed “For what it’s worth
I don’t belong to Slyder.” She sighed glancing to him.

He smirked as she pulled herself into his lap, he held her close as he rubbed her back gently. It felt good holding her, it was something he knew he’d never get tired of, holding her forever might make his miserable, immortal existence, less lonely.

"You had time to watch me?"[b] she laughed lightly as he glanced down to her holding her eyes [b]"Remind me never to fight you." she smirked and as he just shrugged.

“There is a reason I’m the king you know.” He teased “Now that my father’s dead I’m more or less the most powerful only rivaled by my own sister.” He said honestly “And even if I reminded you not to fight me
you’d take it as a challenge.” He smirked at the thought.

A knock at the door turned his smirk into a frown, he hadn’t heard whoever it was and that startled him. He’d been too distracted by Pippa, to hear whoever it was on the other side of the door, which wasn’t like him to miss such an important detail.

But, he remained calm, he wasn’t exactly sure who’d be at his door so late aside from one of his two sister’s or his mother. He lifted Pippa gently setting her next to him on the bed, before placing his index finger to his lips, signaling her to keep quite. Though if it was another vampire, it wouldn’t really make a difference they’d be able to smell her or they’d have already heard her.

He made his way to the door opening it, only enough to see one of the servants, standing nervously on the other side, causing him to relax and let out a breath, before giving the servant a charming smile. He was younger than Pippa and he didn’t really recognize her, so he assumed she was brand new.

“Can I help you?” he said smoothly, blocking her from seeing into the room.

“I
I” she stuttered keeping her eyes on the ground “I was sent
” she swallowed.

“I’m not going to hurt you.” He sighed

“Pippa.” She finally got out “She hasn’t
come back yet. And, they sent
sent me to check with the royals.” She finally managed.

It was painful to listen to her she was terrified, which meant she’d never been a slave before. He Raised a brow, smirking to her as he glanced back over his shoulder to Pip who was still on his bed, before glancing back to the young servant.

“I haven’t seen her
but, If I don’t I’ll make sure to return her right away.” He said giving her a charming smile.

She nodded nervously before taking back off down the hall. He shut the door behind him leaning against it casually as he looked at pip with a smirk.

“I have no doubt in my mind, your little boyfriends the one who put out the warrant for your arrest.” He teased.

Pippa moaned quietly in bliss as he rubbed her back gently and rested her head on his shoulder with a soft sigh, closing her eyes and savoring the feel of his hand running up and down her back comfortingly.

“There is a reason I’m the king you know.” He teased and she smiled lazily and shrugged as if she didn't care. “Now that my father’s dead I’m more or less the most powerful only rivaled by my own sister.” He said and she sighed. It was the truth. He was the most powerful of all the vampires. Ironic that, of all the vampires on earth she could have had the bad luck to fall for, she'd had the extremely bad luck to fall for him. The King. “And even if I reminded you not to fight me
you’d take it as a challenge.” He smirked and she laughed. That was probably true.

Pippa was about to turn her head on his shoulder so she could kiss his neck, when a knock at the door interrupted them and she pulled back and looked at him, confused. It was extremely late. Who would be knocking on his door? Unless he was fucking a bunch of other servant girls, or something major had happened, she had no clue who it could be. Besides maybe Effie, and the thought scared her. Of all the people in the world, Effie frightened her, probably the most. The girl had a certain penchant for screwing with Pip, so she knew if she caught them together, she'd waste no time setting up her public execution and, seeing as she was who she was, Griffin's sister, the event would be huge. They'd take the oppertunity to put as much shame on the Hunters as they possibly could, and it wouldn't hurt only her pride, it would hurt Fin's and Alden's, and Trevor's, and all the rest of the Hunters'. There was a lot more on the line than her own life.

Calmly, Evan moved her from his lap and signaled for her to be quiet, and she rolled her eyes, as if to say duh, keeping herself composed on the outside, though inside, she was afraid as hell that it would be a vampire on the other side of the door. It wouldn't matter to a vampire that she was being quiet. They'd know she was there. They'd have caught her scent all the way down the hall.

She watched as he opened it so that whoever was on the other side couldn't see into the room.

“Can I help you?” He asked smoothly, and Pip heard the voice of a frightened slave on the other side. So it was a human. She allowed herself to breathe a deep sigh of relief, but listened carefully to the conversation.

Why had they sent a servant to look for her? If they were concerned she was missing, the guards would be out looking for her, and they would come find Evan. Not a slave. One of the other slaves had to behind it and she sighed as she realized exactly who it was. "I have no doubt in my mind, your little boyfriend's the one who put the warrant out for your arrest." He teased and Pip looked up at him as he leaned casually against the door.

She rolled her eyes and crawled into the middle of the bed, before shrugging. She remembered the things she'd said to Trevor that morning when he'd come to wake her, and wondered if he wanted her back because he wanted to yell at her. However, she pushed that away. He didn't yell at her too often. He knew she was impulsive, and didn't mean half the things she said. Instead, she knew he was worried and missing her, which made her feel guilty. Seeing as the King or a guard was nearly killing her every few seconds, he had reason to be worried, and he could very well think she was dead.

However, Pip swallowed the guilt and smirked. "Yeah well, he's a pussy if he had to get a girl to come up here and talk to you." She said with another shrug and a laugh. Then her smirk dropped. "Ah, fuck." She whispered as she realized something, looking up at Evan, suddenly a little worried. "Why would he sent someone to your room? You don't think he knows something do you?"

There was a brief, tense silence, before Griffin saw Ezra relax some and turn to smirk at Effie. “I can’t wait to say I told you so.” He said darkly before turning and heading off into the night. Fin rolled his eyes and scoffed, holding back the urge to shout something sarcastic after him.

“You weren’t supposed to see that.” Effie sighed, bringing his attention back to her. “For what it’s worth
I don’t belong to Slyder.”

Griff laughed and shrugged, wrapping an arm around her waist and pulling her close, kissing her neck playfully for a second. "Oh please." He smirked against her skin. "You don't belong to anyone. You're not that kind of girl." He said as he swept an arm under her legs, lifting her into his arms with a laugh. "Now come on. You asked me to spend the night with you. I'm exhausted, and I'm sure you are too. Let's get back inside. No more leaving."

Griffin smirked and kissed her forehead before carrying her inside and closing the door behind them before setting her on the bed and climbing in behind her. He kissed her cheek, then neck, before turning her to face him and kissing her lips. "Forget him." He said, against her lips, referring to Ezra. "Just be here with me now. Don't think of anyone else."

Effie sighed as she watched Ezra disappear, she felt horrible. He’d always looked out for her, now she’d practically chosen a human over her best friend and not just any human, one who hated her and was the leader of a group of hunters dedicated to killing her kind, it was fucked up to think about eventually she’d kill him or he’d kill her or she’d turn him, because neither of them had a death clock which meant they’d both live forever. They’d have to, but even then he wouldn’t be a pure blood.

"Oh please." He smirked against her skin as he kissed her neck, bringing her from her thoughts. "You don't belong to anyone. You're not that kind of girl." he said but she didn’t pull her eyes away from where Ezra had disappeared "Now come on. You asked me to spend the night with you. I'm exhausted, and I'm sure you are too. Let's get back inside. No more leaving."

She didn’t object as he kissed her forehead and picked her up, carrying her inside. He set her on the bed and climbed in behind her. His lips pressed against her neck and she closed her eyes as he placed them against her neck before turning her to face him and pressing his lips against hers, causing her to moan softly. She hated the fact that he had to be the one she’d fallen for, he had to be the one to melt her ice cold heart and break down her walls.

"Forget him." he whispered against her lips "Just be here with me now. Don't think of anyone else." she pulled away and held his eyes. She had to stop it, it had gone on for too long.

“No.” she whispered, she hated how weak and unsure her voice sounded. “We can’t
I can’t.” she said fighting back tears and she couldn’t understand why she wanted to cry. Crying wasn’t something she did, she’d even though she was incapable of it. “I’m sorry Griff
” she trailed off before heading out of the room quicker than he could stop her and disappearing into the darkness.

Evan watched her as she crawled into the middle of the bed giving her a small smile. It would be easier for both of them if she’d just let him turn her. Sure he’d still get hell for being with a half blood, but at least he wouldn’t have to kill her or let her kill him which he knew was bound to happen at some point.

He closed the distance, leaning against his bed post as he looked down at her. Before glancing out the window, something was wrong with Effie, he could sense it, he’d always been able to and he suddenly wondered if it had to do with Griffin, he’d kill him the next time he saw him and he didn’t care if Pip hated him, she’d have to understand he was the king and not killing the leader of the hunters, would look bad. Everything was so damn complicated.

“Yeah well, he's a pussy if he had to get a girl to come up here and talk to you." she said pulling him from his thoughts as he effortlessly flicked his eyes back to hers "Ah, fuck." She whispered causing him to raise a brow "Why would he sent someone to your room? You don't think he knows something do you?"

He shrugged, smirking “What is there to know?” he shrugged like he honestly didn’t think there was anything more than a friendship between them. “I like your blood.” He smirked knowing she would know that was a lie, that it wasn’t just her blood that he liked, he’d openly protected her in front of several vampires just a few hours ago.

“How’s your leg?” he asked, knowing it had to hurt. But he didn’t wait for her answer, he simply went to his door and called for one of his guards. “Send for Izzy.” He ordered. The guarded nodded before taking off. “Let’s get that fixed up for you. Being a human with a wound that big in a house of vampires
probably not the best mix and I don’t exactly need you killing off my guards.” He smirked “Your kind of poison to them now.” He said referring to the fact that he’d marked her.

Pip watched as Evan leaned on the bed post and looked down at her. He shrugged, smirking “What is there to know?” He asked casually and she knit her brows and looked at him like he was crazy, about to spit something sarcastic about the fact that they were fucking when he spoke again. “I like your blood.” He smirked and she raised an eyebrow. He was speaking casually, but she knew there was more to it than just her blood. As much as she hated it, they were developing feelings for each other. She could see it.

The question was if the other vampires would believe that lie. That she was just his personal blood bag. Feeding could be a pleasurable experience, depending on what the vampire wanted, so she knew there had to be more human-vampire sex going on then they liked to admit. The difference was, the humans in those scenarios usually ended up dead or Changed by the end of the night. She, on the other hand, was still human, and still alive. Would they believe he just wanted her for her blood?

“How’s your leg?” He asked, pulling her from her thoughts and she winced as she looked down at her leg. It was horrible, and agonizing pain, but she did her best to ignore it, not wanting to worry him. She'd had worse. He didn't wait to answer before sending for a guard and asking for someone named Izzy. “Let’s get that fixed up for you. Being a human with a wound that big in a house of vampires
probably not the best mix and I don’t exactly need you killing off my guards.” He smirked and she raised a brow. “You're kind of poison to them now.” She sighed and ran her fingers through her hair, allowing them to trail down her neck and find the mark as she watched him, remembering that it meant she was his now and not totally sure how to feel about that.

"Have fun explaining it." She smirked with a shrug as she leaned back to make it a little more comfortable, thought there really wasn't a way she could sit without being in pain. "And why I'm sitting up here in your room, in nothing but your t-shirt." She grinned.

Suddenly, she pulled away and held his eyes for a second. He had a bad feeling he knew what was coming. “No.” she whispered, she hated how weak and unsure her voice sounded. “We can’t
I can’t.” She said and he could see tears shining in her eyes. “I’m sorry Griff
” She trailed off.

He tried to reach for her, but before he did, she slipped out of the bed and out of the room. He cursed and rolled his eyes, heading outside to find her, but she was gone. Disappeared into the shadows.

"Fuck." He hissed at himself before heading back inside to gather his things, figuring he'd walk back to the Hunter's place since there was no reason to stay there anymore. He was upset she'd left. He wanted her to stay. He wanted to be with her.

But at the same time, he had a feeling he should be glad she was gone. That she was trying to sever whatever it was they had before it got too deep. Because it meant he didn't have to. He wanted her badly, but was it worth the cost? He wasn't sure and it killed him.

When she was finally back in the slave district she slowed down. Other vampires walked the streets of the slave district, but it was close to sunrise, so there weren’t many out and Effie was thankful for that. Everyone stepped out of her way, not bothering her, knowing simply by her hair, who she was. She hated the fact that she couldn’t even walk down the sidewalk without being noticed.

It physically hurt her that she left Griff. No one had ever made her feel the way he made her feel. It was so frustrating. She shouldn’t have left and it took everything in her to keep walking and not turn around and go back to him. She felt the tears threatening to fall again.

She turned down a back alley, it was dark and something told Effie not to stop, but she had to. She lend against the brick wall finally letting her tears fall as she slid down the length of the wall. She pulled her knees to her chest and for the first time in at least fifteen years, tears finally fell from her eyes.

Effie caught the scent of a familiar animal and she glanced up seeing Griffin’s dog standing in front of her, with someone she vaguely recognized, it was Griffin’s right hand man. He smirked down at her wickedly and before she had the chance to react, he tased her. But the voltage of the taser was much higher than a normal taser. It was meant to paralyze a vampire.

Effie let out a pained noise. “Did I catch you at a bad time princess.” He hissed kneeling down to pick her up and a few other hunters came to his side. “I’d kill you myself, but Fin would never forgive me” He smirked.

Seph couldn’t move she could only hear him and the rest of the hunters as they carried her back to their hide out. She was completely paralyzed and eventually, she’d passed out from the pain. She woke up sometime later completely tied and bound to a bed, they knew exactly how to keep her contained. There was no one else in the room, but she could smell every human in there and none of them were Griff.

“Fuck.” She breathed.

"Have fun explaining it." he shrugged "And why I'm sitting up here in your room, in nothing but your t-shirt." he let out a small chuckle.

“You know it’s not a crime for vampires to have a little fun with humans.” He explained “Our only crime is the fact that your heart is still beating.” He sighed as he ran his fingers through his dark hair “But, that’s the beauty of me being the king.” He smirked “I don’t answer to anyone and no one questions me.”

A knock at the door pulled his attention from Pippa to the door as he walked across the room to answer it. He opened the door wide, taking the girls hand and guiding her in, kissing her cheek gently. Before glancing back to the guard and giving him a nod as Evan closed the door behind them. He led the girl to the edge of the bed and gestured Pip to come close.

“She’s human.” The girl whispered, keeping her eyes forward, she was a vampire that much was obvious and she was beautiful.

“Yes.” Evan sighed, turning his attention to Pippa “Pippa this is my cousin Izzy. She’s blind.” He said calmly. “Izzy
this is Pippa.” He said turning to the girl “Can you take care of her for me?”

Izzy turned her clouded blue eyes to Pippa like she could see her and gave her a small smile “You love her, don’t you?” She smiled softly, but Evan didn’t reply. She reached her hands out placing them on Pippa’s leg, without having to feel around.

Slowly, Pippa’s leg started to mend itself, painlessly until there was no trace of an injury left. Evan thanked her before leading her to the door where the guard was waiting to take her back. She grabbed Even’s shirt pulling him down to her level.

“Take care of her Ev.” She whispered so only he could hear, before the guard to her hand a led her away.

Evan turned his attention back to Pip once the door was closed again and he could tell she was both confused and worried about Izzy knowing. “She can heal and she can feel emotions.” He explained before she had the chance to question “She’s blind because of my father
she was in love with a human once and she refused to kill him, even helping him escape. When she refused to give up his location, my father blinded her as punishment.” He sighed as he made his way to the bed sitting on the edge as he ran his fingers through his hair “She won’t tell.” He reassured her, avoiding what she’d said about him loving her.

“You know it’s not a crime for vampires to have a little fun with humans. Our only crime is the fact that your heart is still beating.” He and she both sighed at the same time. “But, that’s the beauty of me being the king.” He smirked and she raised her eyes to him. “I don’t answer to anyone and no one questions me.” That made her smirk back, and she was about to say something when there was a knock at the door and she watched from the bed as he went and answered it.

On the other side was a stunning vampire and he lead her in, but as she looked at her, her eyes didn't seem to be focusing and Pip sensed something off about it. Not bad off, like something sinister, but more like there was something wrong with her eyes. Pip gave Ev a glance before sliding over to the side of the bed, closer to the girl.

“She’s human.” The girl whispered, eyes not on her, and, though Pippa knew the girl really didn't have to use her eyes to know that, it was still weird that they had yet to settle on her.

“Yes.” Evan sighed, and Pepper looked up and met his eyes. “Pippa this is my cousin Izzy. She’s blind. Izzy
this is Pippa. Can you take care of her for me?” He introduced them and it suddenly made more sense why her blue eyes wouldn't settle on one thing.

Until they did, landing right on her like she could see her, as she smiled at her. “You love her, don’t you?” She said softly and Pippa knit her brows and flicked her eyes up to Evan's as the girl placed her hands on her leg. Her heart was suddenly racing. The girl clearly had some psychic gifts, as she was a Royal, and, added to her healing gifts, which were healing her leg, that made her fairly powerful.

Pip watched as Evan lead her back towards the door and she whispered something to him that she couldn't hear before Evan let her out and turned to face her again. She waited for him to speak first. “She can heal and she can feel emotions.” He explained and she nodded, but that opened another question in her mind. She read off his emotions that he loved her? “She’s blind because of my father
she was in love with a human once and she refused to kill him, even helping him escape. When she refused to give up his location, my father blinded her as punishment. She won’t tell.” It was reassuring that she wouldn't tell, but her story wasn't exactly spirit-lifting.

She sighed and moved over behind him on the bed, kissing along his shoulder and up his neck before pulling back and sitting on the edge next to him, looking down at her hands. "So you love me?" She whispered so softly, she wouldn't think he'd heard it. Except he was a vampire. So he had to hear it. She looked back up at him, holding his eyes. What if he said yes? Her heart was suddenly racing.

It was easier for him to figure out his feelings. He was a vampire. She was his human victim. What she was feeling could be an attachment and bond growing as a result of too much feeding. It could be the excitement of doing something wrong with him. Or it could be love. But she'd never really loved. So how was she to know? She let out a deep, frustrated sigh as she closed her eyes and lay her head on his shoulder, biting her lip. "I feel something strong." She admitted. "But, I mean, what if it's just this thing between us because you're feeding off me?" She kept her eyes closed, head resting against his shoulder as she waited for his answer.

Griffin walked home slowly, taking the longest route possible, trying to sort out his feeling for her as best he could while he smoked through practically an entire pack of cigarettes. He was bothered by one or two vampires, but he was a hunter and managed to slip them easily before he was back on his way.

Did he love her? He wondered to himself over and over again before finally deciding he did. He didn't like it. It was dangerous and screwed with a lot of things he'd thought he'd believed in for a long time.

But at the same time, he didn't care. There was no other way to explain it, and he hated that he'd let it go that far, but at the same time, all he wanted was to be with her.

When he finally got back to the hideout, a few hunters glanced at him nervously in the "club" section of the place and Griffin raised his brows, but didn't ask, knowing it had to be something with Alden as he slipped into the back living room that connected the leader's rooms, finding Alden sitting there in a chair, reading a book, waiting for him. "Why am I getting weird looks?" He hissed, shaking his head. "I know we had a fight, but aren't you the one always going on about not letting them see us fight?" He smirked, taking a seat and kicking his feet up on the coffee table. "So what the fuck's going on?" He asked, tossing a book he pulled out of the chair under him right at Alden's book, knocking it clean from his hands so he couldn't pretend not to hear him anymore.
