Description

Name: Violet

Description:

Violet stands well over the heads of practically all Saiyans as it is not limited by the size restraints their species lives with. A Shuroom's growth while slow is dictated not by genetic code but by it's power. Violet is happy with it's size being what it is and chooses to stay as it is, at least for the time. It doesn't need much more size to ward off most attackers through sheer intimidation.

It's dark green cap is adorned with glowing mushrooms that, while looking like a different type of mushroom, are actually just a part of itself. It's feet are earthy roots as well as it's arms however it's arms are covered in a tough mossy coat which protects them from harm. The cap itself is perhaps it's toughest part of it's body as it is what shields the stem from most things. The top of the cap is hard yet flexible like it's arms making it superbly resilient as it will bend but not break when struck. The more yellowish underside of the cap is not as tough as it's upper half however it is much more flexible and acts like a muscle which supports as well as controls the motion of the overall cap. It all comes together in a sort of grayish brown stem which is where the brain is kept. In the stem are it's eyes, not quite like eyes as animals might have but they serve the same purpose. It has seven translucent nodes on the front of the stem which glow with a bio-luminescent light. The nodes have receptors like eyes would that take in light, interpreting the signals and sending the message up to the brain allowing it to see. These nodes are protected by a frontal ridge which splits out into hard rims which protect the eyes much like the ridge of an eye's brow.

Despite it's size the Shuroom carries itself with surprising grace. It is a very patient creature, slow and measured in it's motions not due to a limit on it's speed but more a result of it's deeply contemplative and careful nature. It can move relatively fast if the situation calls for such measures. In general this creature might seem slow to an animal but for it's kingdom in the taxonomic hierarchy it's species is an extremely hasty sort.

Absorption
Aside from nutrients taken up from both soil and dead flesh a notable trait of the Shuroom is it's ability to absorb energy. As it's species was from a planet that lacked a sun to draw warmth from it's kind had to draw their heat from the molten core of the planet. The Shuroom will draw in heat through it's roots which it can in a variety of ways. Thanks to it's rocky origin the Shuroom's roots have a high tolerance for heat when it comes to where they draw their energy from. The form it can receive energy is largely irrelevant as Shurooms are largely omnivorous, absorbing energy whether it be fire, electricity or even ki.

Naturally how much one can absorb is not unlimited. Once saturated with energy a Shuroom will stop taking on energy and what energy is left will act as it would for any other creature on it, burning it or otherwise harming it as expected. The amount of energy a Shuroom can absorb all at once is also limited meaning it will take damage from an energy attack it cannot fully absorb in that instant. The limit for how much energy can be absorbed can be improved upon by spending prolonged periods fully saturated, forcing it's body to adapt to the new volume of power and expand it's capacity. While at full saturation a Shuroom is more vulnerable however it is also more dangerous as it is full of energy it can use.

Spore Cloud
Violet can expel a cloud of spores from it's mouth which can absorb energy in a manner similar to itself. Much like Violet itself the spores will absorb energy from a wide number of sources including ki. Their capacity before they become saturated is quite small but they make up for it in numbers. Once saturated the spores will start to fall until they've landed where they'll extend fine networks of hyphae and start to grow like normal. If Violet needs it can suck up saturated spores and absorb the energy stored inside them to give itself extra energy. If Violet itself is saturated then the opposite can be done where it lets the spores within absorb it's energy before breathing out a cloud of pre-saturated spores which are less harmful in their saturated state.

Cap Shield
Leaning it's cap down Violet can shield itself from attacks by using it's hardy cap as a shield. More than that however it can channel energy into it's cap, flushing it with energy and protecting it from ki attacks with a magnetic barrier which pushes energy like plasma and such away from it. The strength of it's energy shield is proportionate to the amount of energy used to make it. Energy attacks which are stronger than the shield will be weakened by the total strength of the shield.

Regrowth
As is natural for all living things a Shuroom can regenerate wounds over time. Unlike some species a Shuroom's rate of healing can be accelerated by stimulating the cells with energy. By steadily consuming it's own energy Violet can regenerate faster than normal, healing at a speed proportionate to the amount of energy being consumed. There is no part of it that cannot be regenerated save for it's brain. Once the brain is destroyed it's dead.

Ultracold Plasma Sphere
Unlike most ki abilities this ability of it creates a ball of ultracold plasma by manipulating it's bio-electrical energy to generate a magnetic cage between it's hands. Once the gases are trapped in the force it generates a laser from it's eyes through a reaction in it's bio-luminescent chemicals in the ocular nodes which are then focused through it's optic disks in an intense form of projected light. The light presses on the atoms trapped between it's hands, slowing them down and thus reducing their energy which in turn reduces their heat to supercold temperatures. Meanwhile the bottom eye instead of slowing the atomic motion of the particles with it's laser instead gives energy to the outermost electrons so they can escape the atoms, causing ionization. Through ionization the gas is changed into a plasma, a more concentrated form that can be manipulated.

The ultracold plasma behaves similarly to ki and can be manipulated in many of the same ways. While it is the complete opposite of superheated plasma it's damage is proportionately similar though instead of burning through material it freezes all the way down a certain distance through materials. What ultracold plasma is particularly useful for is that unlike regular plasma which simply clashes or is absorbed into ki defenses of equal or greater strength it will drain the heat from whatever it touches making it great for stripping away ki defense techniques.

Personality:

Violet is a gentle brute, an unclear mixture of biological might and humble delicacy. Despite it's life on the Saiyan homeworld Violet doesn't welcome violence. It has learned to fight largely out of necessity as opposed to the overly aggresive Saiyans who seek to dominate those around them. Violet though somewhat shy is not beneath stepping in to help someone it feels is being treated unfairly. It will not resort to violence if not necessary but will do everything in it's power to protect itself and those who cannot protect themselves in the path of harm.

Because of what it is Violet has some difficulty communicating it's ideas with others. The Shurooms native language is not one of sound but of light and though it has been taught how to speak it struggles to imitate the higher pitched sounds present in some of their vocabulary. It much prefers to write which it does quite well. It's fingers despite being so large and strong are highly deft, able to manipulate small tools such as pens with better accuracy than most Saiyans. In general Violet is quite capable of great poise despite it's lumbering appearance. With the exception of the dirt tracked about by it's feet Violet could walk all throughout an occupied house without disrupting anything or bumping into anyone.

It's greatest trouble is that it is a non-Saiyan life form living on their planet. Due to that and it's size it finds difficulty in getting through the day just due to how the Saiyans behave towards it. It has to avoid public places and generally tries to go unseen as it goes about meeting it's needs but even that is not enough. Luckily Violet is strong enough to fight off most of who would wish it harm. Between it's naturally potent strength and it's rough training in combat it is not a truffle to be trifled with in a fight.

It is very thoughtful, something that puts great stock in careful considerations and planning. It is naturally inclined to be slow to act due to it's biological heritage. When approaching a problem Violet will not only consider the tactical and material consequences of it's actions but will also contemplate the ethical and philosophical ramifications to it's decisions. In a discussion Violet may not enjoy talking too much but it enjoys listening greatly, especially to intellectual conversations of such topics as arts, philosophy and the world of science. While boasting of the baser side of fighting holds little interest to Violet it also finds interest in the art and science of martial arts. Violet's curiosity is particularly strong for one of it's kind.

At heart Violet is caring yet shy. It will lend it's kindness to others despite is hesitance towards unfamiliar company. Violet is not one to let itself or others be bullied but is quite timid in most other cases. As it knows it is not of the same race as those who preside over the planet it is always cautious when it comes to Saiyan customs, preferring to err on the side of humility rather than challenge the system it currently exists within. Should it get to know people it can be very supportive, always siding with those it cares about regardless of the trials they might face. It has almost no friends and doesn't open itself up emotionally often so those it does get close to warrant extra care and appreciation from it.

Training History:

Most of Violet's training has been second hand knowledge passed in practice with it's childhood friend. While it's friend was a practitioner of a soft style of combat it found it was simply too large and immobile to perform many of the passes. It had to adapt the techniques to it's own body shape to better suit it, developing a style through trial and error instead of being taught how to fight. As such it's form is not particularly refined, it's techniques honed through experience. Mistakes, especially later on when applied in real fights, were trained out as it suffered the consequences of failure. Thanks to it's remarkable ability to recover it's never seen permanent damage despite what damage it has suffered.

It's style is designed around short slaps, palm thrusts and grappling. In the striking phase Violet will typically shield itself with it's cap and slap it's opponent whenever they come within range to strike. Due to the shape of it's body and the location of it's arms it cannot throw many effective straight punches as it's attacks have to come around to the center of it's cap typically. It's attacks are all rather circular in form, short swiping slaps and palm thrust to the sides of it's opponent. It has a number of reasons to not throw big strikes despite the amount of power it could put behind it's blows.

It's first reason is that it was trained in a soft style so it is more accustomed to using less power, striking more often in it's stead. It's second reason is that it would much rather end a fight with as little bloodshed as necessary, preferring to submit it's opponent with pain and intimidation so it doesn't have to hurt it's foe too much. It's third reason is that using long heavy strikes can leave it open to passes. By keeping it's slaps fast and light it can occupy it's opponent more effectively and cut down the number of opportunities it's foe has to bypass it's cap shield. By not throwing too much of itself into an attack it can recover from a missed attack before it's enemy can finish trying to get around it and punish them for the attempt with more slaps. Given that it's hands are like large fibrous clubs already it doesn't need to throw tremendous force to deal decent damage either.

As for Ki techniques it's opted for a more defensive approach, concentrating more on blocking and absorbing it's enemies blasts and closing the gap between them as it much prefers to fight hand to hand. While it does possess one unique ki technique, the ultracold plasma sphere, it's array of ranged attacks is not too diverse. It's signature ki technique came to it almost as if it was instinctual when it learned to control ki energy. Still, cool as it may literally be Violet doesn't prioritize that attack much, keeping it as an ace up the metaphorical sleeve in case it's enemy possesses a ki defense that gives it trouble or a ki attack that it really needs to counter.

Aside from slaps and palm thrusts however it's preferred method of causing damage is through grabs. Thanks to it's massive strength it is able to crush most opponents once it gets it's hands on them. As it's size is usually too large for conventional grappling techniques it just uses it's hands to crush or break parts of it's enemies since they are usually large enough to do so. It would rather not have to resort to crushing it's opponents outright so it usually prioritizes limbs first, suppressing it's foe's movement with one hand while it crushes or breaks the selected limb with the other. What it considers ideal is when it can force it's enemies to yield through crushing pain which while agonizing will ultimately let the opponent walk away from the fight largely unharmed.

Biography:

Before Violet was born it was but a spore. It's planet, the home world of the Shuroom, was a humble rock in the cold dark who's only source of heat was the geothermal energy at it's core generated by the gravity of this massive planet. As the gravity was so great all life that lived within the caverns beneath the surface had to be strong just to withstand the pressure. The Shurooms had spread far throughout the internal networks of the planet making them the dominant species on the planet. Life was not all too complicated for Violet. A simple unaware spore ready to latch onto a surface and spread it's roots.

Pity it's planet was targeted for a Saiyan wipe raid.

They came in and mercilessly attacked. It was not an easy battle as the Shurooms were mighty and smart foes but for what loses the raid party suffered in the end the Shurooms lost as did all other creatures along with them. All living creatures within the planet were killed that day. So how did Violet come to be? Well while they were executing their mass genocide one Saiyan decided to pick up a souvenir for his wife back home, a small spore for her to grow as she was interested in botany as a hobby. Soon the planet was gone as were all the Shurooms and the Saiyans returned home.

Not many days after he returned his wife gave birth to a daughter. When she was born the mother planted the spore to commemorate the occasion. Since that day Violet had grown alongside the Saiyan daughter of the man who had destroyed it's race with only one exception: Itself.

The daughter, Indi'go, named the fungus Violet since that was the color it glowed. When she started to train Violet had pulled itself from the pot. The girl was confused by this strange new development from her mushroom but soon found the change good. The girl did not have a lot of friends at school so having her mushroom come alive and be her friend brightened up her days quite a bit. The two played and she taught Violet all about the world. Violet couldn't go outside and be seen since the girl worried what her parents might think if they knew her mushroom was walking around and even talking. When Indi'go was away it had to stay in it's pot and pretend to be an ordinary mushroom.

Soon when Indi'go was ready she was made to practice fighting arts like every other one of her kind. Still, every day she'd come home and talk about her day and all the things she did with her friend Violet. Indi'go wasn't very strong so she didn't get very far in school but she'd train often back at home with Violet. She taught Violet a lot but it also helped her learn quite a lot as well. Perhaps the best lesson she had learned from training with her friend was that she didn't need to be the strongest to be happy. She had everything she wanted right here and she was just fine with that. She wanted to succeed just like any of her kind would but there was little shame in being second or third or thirty second best.

Sadly the best of their days were soon to be behind them. As Indi'go was on her way home she was suddenly surrounded by three of her classmates. As she was weaker than them they felt they had to put her in her place. They attacked her, intent on beating her into submission. Meanwhile back at home Violet was concerned. Though patient as it was it didn't know why it's friend was taking such a long time to get home from class. It started to worry that perhaps she might of gotten hurt or trapped somewhere and needed help. Though it knew it shouldn't go out in public it couldn't wait any longer for her and went out to find her, taking as discrete a route as it could.

As it followed Indi'go's route from school back home it came upon the scene. Three other girls were stomping on poor Indi'go! It was greatly alarmed by this and ran to her aid. Now by this point in time Violet was easily the size of a Saiyan adult, dwarfing the children in size easily. They still tried to repel Violet, believing they had the advantage of numbers. It repelled all of their attacks and slapped them away until they were confident no more. Once the others had fled and Indi'go was safe it went to her side. She was too hurt to walk home so it carried her back in it's arms.

Of course the three children would have to explain how they got so bruised. The word got out about Violet and soon everyone knew.

Her parents of course were none too pleased. Her father demanded that she destroy the mushroom herself. She didn't want to but she knew if she refused he'd just destroy her friend anyways. She agreed to it but instead of going through with it as she said she would she took Violet from her home and brought it to a forest. She told it to go, go and never turn back. Violet was distraught and so was Indi'go but she knew it would never be safe among them. She bid Violet a tearful goodbye and left it to seek it's own fate in nature where it would be relatively isolated.

Many years have passed since then. Violet has lived all alone, hiding from sight and surviving off the land. It has had to fight off other Saiyans on a number of occasions but for the most part it's been relatively successful at staying off the radar. Still, it can only wonder how long it has before such precarious peace will give way to fate.

Violet

In a massive forest it stood. A massive mushroom which glowed from spots on it's stem and from smaller mushrooms atop it's cap. These shrooms were not seperate fungi however, they were just parts that grew out from the cap naturally. The day was a quiet one, perfectly fine for Violet. It did enjoy watching the days go by, it's roots sucking up nutrients from the soil while it soaked up warmth from the sun. Any warmth was just fine for it, the sunlight was just conveniently omnipresent.

Watching the wildlife go about their day was quite entertaining for Violet. Watching the insects crawl, the birds fly, the beasts roam, the forest was a lively place, especially for Violet. Being a fungus it was naturally disposed to inactivity though it's kind were more active than most under it's kingdom. It didn't easily bore of watching nature in motion but rather found the hustle and bustle of this seemingly calm placed rather active. Still it wasn't quite as active as back when it lived with it's childhood friend. It preferred not to think back as reminiscing of those days brought deep sorrow. For all the happy days it could recall it only ever lead back to a sense of yearning to return to such days. It seemed life would never be so lovely, it's memories of the past glossed with fond nostalgia.

It's days were not always so peaceful however. Being a rare species on a heavily populated planet made solitude difficult. For all the days spent in peace just a few days were Saiyans passed through were but enough to disrupt it all. Some left it be, some looked and marveled at it's uniqueness and then there were some who would try to pluck it from the ground. Those who would disturb it always made life so complex since these people never seemed content with just leaving be. They would always harass it the moment they knew it could move. It had to fight more often than it wanted to. It never wanted to fight, not like they wanted to.

And since it wouldn't kill them they would always come back. It could never stay once it was found. It always had to move on, finding a new place to hide in the woodlands. It was a nomad now, doomed to live on the move, ever escaping persecution. It couldn't call any spot home anymore. What peace it could find was always short lived, at least to it it seemed like so. As was said what seemed slow for those of the animal kingdom was not as such for it. For what matters it lacked compared to the mammalian species that dominated the planet Violet excelled in both patience and meditation. It had plenty of time to dwell on it's own nature, to consider ideas and to focus. Focus, the key element to channeling one's own ki energy.

Violet had practiced it's use of the energy for some time now. It did not function the same for it that it did for Indi'go, the Saiyan who's roof it lived under for what it felt were the best years in it's life. It could channel such energy using their techniques but it was not the same. Still, to the practical and uninquisitive it was the results that mattered. Violet was most certainly curious as to how it's own biology personally handled the energy but it had little in the way of scientific facilities to use for such studies. It also had little interest in being dissected for the sake of learning it's innermost secrets.

It could hear voices in the distance. A couple of hikers were making their way along nearby. It worried as their voices drew near but it's worry was for naught as they soon past it by without notice. Still, it was a close call, far closer than it cared for. It pulls the roots at the ends of it's legs as well as it's finger tips from the earth, loamy dirt clinging to the many fine fibers hanging from it's limbs. Slowly it started to lumber off, hauling it's large form deeper into the wood in the hopes that it could find an even more remote location.

Eventually after much walking it stopped. It stood atop a forested hill looking down at the land below. The trees made for decent cover for hiding and the height gave it a good view which would help it see trouble from afar. Not too far off were some houses but that was not uncommon. It was difficult finding a spot which was completely detached from civilization since this entire forest was pretty much bordered on all sides by cityscape. For how large this forest seemed the Saiyan people occupied far more space.

From it's vantage point Violet could see into the backyard of one such Saiyan. There was a rich garden with a small pond rife with life. It was a pleasing sight to say the least even if there was the lingering concern over the Saiyan that dwelt within such holding. While it was decently tucked away it could still see out across the land which meant others could technically see it's pleasantly purple glow. There wasn't much it could do about that as it was bioluminescent by nature. It could only hope that the inhabitants which were in view did not possess a strong sense of curiosity. Still, it was happy to have something like a pond to look at for some time. It could spend weeks doing nothing but watching fish swim about their closed system. Since the pond was a source of water it was bound to attract other animals to it as well. It was curious to see what creatures would be drawn to the waters. Animals did fascinate it so.
