"Did you know that the original name for the butterfly was 'flutterby'?"

a character in “Di Morte”, originally authored by Poofle, as played by RolePlayGateway

Description

Star Peverell
Image

Nickname (show name): Symphonia
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Ability: Star's ability originally wasn't one she could control, though she eventually learnt how to with practice. When she feels a strong emotion (never mind which type) or an overwhelming multitude of emotions, she'll produce beautiful music that matches her emotions. This music doesn't come from musical instruments or even sound like any musical instruments - in fact, it just sort of plays around her when she's feeling those emotions. It's as if she is the music itself.
Role: ...to be decided?
Appearance: Star's really small, standing at just 5'2''. Her striking rainbow-coloured hair is, to her, an embodiment of her very personality because she loves rainbows and thinks her original hair colour is far too dull, never mind that she forgot what it was already. Her piercing blue eyes have a kind of intense look to them - not exactly something words can describe accurately. She isn't much of a flashy dresser, really - not because she does or doesn't care but simply because she doesn't really think of what she's wearing. Star usually wears simple dresses or petticoats of all colours, since her favourite colours are the seven in the rainbow.

Personality

Star's an odd one, to say the least.

She speaks to herself most of the time, either reciting what seem to be lines from faraway poems or random facts that nobody can ever guess how she came to know. She usually won't speak to others unless they speak up first or she trusts them enough to open up, which is highly rare. In the event that you actually bring her out from her own little world of thoughts, she's actually pretty... close to friendly, if that's accurate enough. She'll talk to people in her own strange way, though sometimes it may be hard to grasp exactly what she's trying to convey. Most people, even the ones in Di Morte itself, assume the poor broken child lost connection to sanity years ago and is incapable of logical speech. She doesn't exactly seem capable of empathising with others, actually - though she has her own way of communicating if you bother to try understanding her. Star can also be hypersensitive in terms of emotions, sometimes getting easily upset though not necessarily violent. If Star were to be tested for it, she probably would have autism of a kind - or maybe not. She's lived in the circus her whole life anyway, or at least very much of it.

Towards the people who come to see her, Star usually just makes her music and then leaves. Sometimes she'll try talking to them but they assume she's just reciting cryptic pre-rehearsed lines.

Equipment

Image

Star's mask is dark blue for the night sky (a kind of reference to her name) and has musical notes on it, an indicator of her ability.

Unknown to all so far, Star keeps a small notebook filled with her drawings with her, one that she's really protective of and has never shown to anyone so far.

History

Star's story is another one of those that has the old Ringmaster as her saviour. She was found in a dilapidated hut by the old Ringmaster in some cut-off part of England, a filthy child of no more than three years old lying frail and close to death beside cans of empty preserved food. Led there by the mysterious, painful-sounding music that played from the house, the Ringmaster discovered Star's ability himself - and took her with him, seeing how the child looked like either a victim of extreme neglect or an abandoned child.

Growing up as part of Di Morte was, for Star, only natural - she saw the Ringmaster as a kind of father to her. Slowly, she learnt how to live and how to be a normal child, something her three years of very little care (if at all) had nearly taken away from her. While the Ringmaster was alive, she trusted him the most and he became the only person she carried out almost-rational conversations with. However, after he passed on, Star retreated back into her shell and became the 'little lost girl' who lived in her own world again.

Star neither hates nor loves the new Ringmaster, but she does not trust him.

So begins...
