Vincent Aurealis

Type: Air

Gender: Male
Nickname(s)/Alias(es):
Age: 32

Appearance: Everyone's roughed up from life, Vincent just a little more so. Since he was young he had a knack for getting in fights and it earned him a vicious look. No matter what he does, whether it be growing his hair long or shaving it to the skin, he seems to be a daunting presence. His hands are covered in slight scars. He's fairly tall with a broad upper body.

Height: 6'
Weight: 196Lbs
Eye Color: Hazel

Notable Features: Horizontal scar along the bridge of his nose.

Personality: Though he comes off as rough around the edges, and make no mistake he is, Vincent nonetheless is a kind man to those whom he trusts. Frequently this number seems to be dwindling as he finds himself among mages for friends, but he attempts not to let this loss show. Under a stern veil he gripes with rage and sadness over the loss of his friends, but knows he can do little more than simply push forward. When stressed he is short, very commanding and has little patience for much. It may not seem possible with him, but Vincent is capable of a few good jokes, though this side isn't often seen except when he's at home.

Personal History: Four at the time of introduction to the drug Vincent was a case wherein a childhood deformity was likely to claim his life. At first the administration of the drug yielded wondrous results allowing him to run and play again. Over time other effects began to materialize though it was rather well hidden by his family and the nature of them. It wasn't always believed that Vincent was the cause though it seemed in his early childhood that he could control, to some degree, the wind and the flow of it's current. He experimented with this; not truly understanding the repercussions that may come from a boy trying to fly himself with a homemade parachute injury was a given. In hindsight a broken ankle wasn't much.

With the introduction of the public ban of mages Vincent's life took a turn and he was taken in by those who would support him. His uncle had also been given the wonder drug and had reacted well enough. Despite never gaining any real elemental ability the man was still labeled as a mage and so hunted. Though his parents weren't particularly fond of sending away their child they had little choice in the matter as an ethnic cleansing was on the horizon. Safe in his uncles hands Vincent eluded arrest and ultimately execution until when the guild he and his uncle frequented was raided. Bloodshed followed and ultimately Vincent escaped beaten and broken but ultimately alone.

Scrapping by to survive he floated from guild to guild, attempting to broaden his understanding of the world and his new place in it. When in his adolescence he began to realize the true power he'd been gifted with Vincent began experimenting with it again. Already stronger than average he found his strikes naturally quicker, his strides greater, and his senses heightened. This resulted in finding himself in bouts of strength and ability with others. Most often in good sport it did surface outside of the norm as well. This also brought him to clash with government forces often enough that he managed to kill and loot the equipment of a few of them. Others saw such drastic measures as appalling, however, arming the feeble allowed Vincent to see a hope for mages.

With conditions worsening and mages turning against each other Vincent took to hunting himself. His targets were primarily those he could gain from and he made an effort to never blatantly kill anyone for the simple fact of it. Though it happened in few cases he attempted to avoid it in most cases, preferring to plunder rather than raid.

Other: None.

New Eden City | Rural Fields | Mid Afternoon

The wheat fields blowing in the wind was such a picturesque scene it was almost comical. That great moment when the hero of the story wondered about all of his life choices as the impending battle was likely to be his last. Somehow looking at the blowing waves of wheat he found self contemplation and resolve to do what must be done. In battle the hero would be successful, and his great quest over he would return to the family he had left behind with those golden fields. The comical bit was how unrealistic that was.

Vincent looked over the same fields that everyone else did, though he alone seemed to realize the severity of society. These guild spars over homes and territory were not only useless, but even detrimental to the situation he and others of his particular physical state found themselves in. It's all in good fun. He'd been told that once and couldn't help but cast away the person as a fool among many. If it was all in good fun there wouldn't be fights over who has a roof over their head and who gets to eat something more than a paltry piece of chicken or half rotten vegetables for the week. Though in many cases the world wasn't so spiteful that this held true Vincent found himself to be a pessimist and a realist and never expected anything good to come from no effort.

Today brought all of these thoughts to the forefront of his mind as he watched over the wheat field nearby, turning away anyone that wished to disturb his reflection. Unlike those great hero's Vincent knew he would not take a loss today and that there was no where for him to return to after the fact unless they won. Even in that case it was a new home, and one that would need to be constantly defended because of its luxury.

Time waned thin when Vincent rose from his solitary seat. Garbed in leather boots, a tight fitting t-shirt and armed with an assault rifle slung over his left shoulder the man looked like a guerrilla fighter more than a mage, but as his left hand pressed down on the air, calming the wind, it was evident he was both. It was nearly time to begin and so Vincent found himself alongside the water and other air mages.

β€œLets get on with it then.” He mused to a close friend whom he often fought beside. The other man was smaller than him, somewhat fat and always in a good mood. He contradicted nearly everything Vincent believed in, but the man knew where he stood and refused to move which made Vincent respect him even if they disagreed on matters.
