"These hands are not all they seem to be"

0 · 125 views · located in The Cabin

a character in “Elemental Gifts”, as played by Tsuyoku

Description

Name: Vahlar Redrea
Element: Earth and Metal affinity
Age: 38
Race: Rune Warlock
Height: 6’ 2”
Physical Description: Vahlar is seen as a large man because of his height and element but he is fairly slim and fast. He is seen mostly wearing an Egyptian scholar like cloth that covers his torso, over his shoulders and down to his waist. He also wears knee length shorts with covered sandals and his legs, arms and neck are covered in bandages. Those on his neck reach up to cover his mouth, nose and part of his ears. His hair is black and coarse making it looking thin and pointed. His eyes are a violet hue that seem to be dull and shine simultaneously. When activating his Runes, Vahlar’s eyes glow a dim black as a sign of his Metal Rune nature.

Personality

Personality: Vahlar is a calm and level-headed man. Through all his hardships as a child, Vahlar still is able to crack a small smile here or there. Because of his affinity toward the Earth element, Vahlar can seem quite laid back and carefree yet he has tendencies to become his Metal affinity’s aggressive and cold nature when seen in battle. Because of his Rune heritage, he is very analytic and judgmental which sometimes conflicts with his chosen life style. Because of Vahlar’s experience with Fire magi, he becomes very nervous and twitchy in the presence of fire or mages. In public he becomes somewhat cheerful yet quiet and in private he tends to be distant and daydreams.

Equipment

Rune Powers: At the time of his eight month fetus, the Rune Keepers carved an Earth Rune on Vahlar’s mother’s belly which then transferred to the child. Because the Rune was transferred to the child’s whole body, Vahlar is able to use the Earth Rune through any part of his body not occupied by another Rune. For Rune users to use their powers, the Rune carvings must be unrestricted by any other non-living material. A Rune can be activated by speaking its language counterpart. When a Rune is activated they glow according to a certain color of their element and their user. When a user has an affinity toward an element, they are able to form parts of their body as the element allowing for greater manipulation and greater power. Affinity users also do not need a language counterpart and only require mental activation.

History

History: When Vahlar was still a child of four-years-old, his parents were murdered in cold blood by three magi. His father had used an Earth Rune carved in his left palm to combat the mages’ Fire powers but was overpowered and outnumbered. When all else failed, Vahlar’s father transferred his Metal Rune craving on his back to Vahlar’s right arm. On the next day, a traveling merchant found Vahlar’s father’s body covering his mother’s with both bodies being burnt to a crisp. About ten feet away an unconscious Vahlar was surrounded by the dead bodies of the three magi, each impaled by a metal spike.

By the time it became dusk, Vahlar had regained consciousness and the merchant had buried the five bodies near a large tree. In the light of the campfire the merchant finally saw the three different designs of cravings on Vahlar: a Earth Rune on his left palm, a Metal Rune on his right arm, and etched below his jaw a Water Rune. At first the merchant looked at Vahlar with shock but after seeing the child’s face of confusion and innocence his features softened and he explained to Vahlar what had happened to what he saw. After the man gave his explanation, Vahlar suddenly felt lost and lonely and began to cry in mourning for his parents until he fell asleep. For six days the man and the orphan became close and lived with each other at their camp. On the morning of the sixth day, the merchant asked Vahlar if he would like to be his adopted son and travel the world with him. At first he was hesitant, a young child’s brain could process only so much, but gave in and agreed to become the merchant’s son.

For ten years, Vahlar and the merchant Flint traveled through Egypt, China, Australia, and many small countries. On his sixteenth birthday, a great tragedy shadowed Vahlar’s current life. On the evening of his birthday, Flint had died of leukemia that he was diagnosed with since five years ago. That time when someone he cared about died, Vahlar did not cry. He retaliated in violence and aggression, allowing for the Metal Rune to become his affinity. During this time his body became encased in metal and he began a rampage on a Egyptian village that he and the man lived in. When he destroyed half the village, a group of three Rune users sensed his affliction and stood to stop him. By the time their battle finish, Vahlar was rendered unconscious and two of the Rune users where injured. After about four days until their injuries where good enough and Vahlar had regained consciousness, they took him with them to a Temple of the Runes. There, for three years, they enacted the Aura of Recuperation, retracting Vahlar’s Metal affinity and unlocking his Earth affinity. After this process, for a period of ten more years, Vahlar was trained by the three users to harness his powers and control his emotions. On the day of his twenty-seventh birthday, the second horror of Vahlar’s life crawled through. A great battle between a large group of witches and the Rune users of the temple, and Vahlar was charged with living on from his life he had know in the temple. And when he was far enough, a sudden flash busted from the temple and all he knew was gone.

For eighteen days, Vahlar wondered about the forest seventeen miles away from the temple. In the deepest of the woods he found a cabin, his fatigue causing him to fall unconscious on the steps of the small shack. When he woke up from his slumber, an old man greeted him, his hospitality extremely welcoming. When Vahlar was going to leave the cabin, the old man had ask if he would like to become his apprentice. At the proposition, the Rune Warlock was hesitate but after some thinking he decided that the man come teach many things. And for another five years of his life, Vahlar was taught more ways to control himself and different combat styles. At the end of these five years, Vahlar left the cabin, unbeknownst to the old man, and start on his own journey. And now it is six years from the day he left, his memories of the old man, his smile, and the cabin leading him back……..

So begins...
