The Kingdom of Ice and Snow
Trades
The Kingdom of Isen has always been mainly an isolated kingdom, by choice for most of it. Their trades were fur, heavy wood, ice (Mainly the ice for their summer months and to themselves.), and fish. Their closest neighbor is the Mountains of Zephyr and they have traded with them in the past, sometimes some citizens of theirs traveled there.
History
Though an isolated country that does not mean they have not had trouble, mainly with Sikitokkians and their own people. For though their elements, Water and Ice, are kindred…they are not. Isens think that the Sikitokkians look down at them, for their gift of Ice and snow, which had led to many arguments and skirmishes in the past. For the power of Ice and Snow had not always been considered a curse by Isens.
It became viewed like that from the last king of Isen, before it became a matriarchal society.
King Aage was a tyrant of his people, greedy and controlling demanding high taxes and killing any who stood in his way, going so far as to kill his own brothers so they would not kill him to get the throne. When the people revolted he commanded the snow and ice to cover the land, starving the people and making it last for three years.
The queen at the time, Valdis, could not stand by her husbands’ side anymore, though she was heavy with their child she did the only thing she could. She took a blade from a guard while the king was giving a speech to his people and ran him through the heart. With the still bloody blade in her hand she took the crown and named herself queen, declaring that no man, or sorcerer shall rule.
Any person that was born with the power afterwards was considered a threat, for the wound is still raw and the memory deep of what happened when one with the command of the element of Ice and Snow was King. For that reason they are killed.
Though records are lost, some people believe it was King Aage that started this war, by forcing his men to invade countries and stealing their resources and slaughtering and taking the losers of the battles as slaves.
Religion
The Isens’ Gods
God Aage: The creator and mountain god.
This God has been scratched from the minds of Isens, for the name draws too many bad memories for them. He was the god that they believed created Isens’ mountains from his anvil. He is no longer mentioned by that name, people giving him the new name of Aki.
Goddess Fanndis: The Goddess of Snow, Ice, wind and winter.
The goddess who blessed the country with her magic of snow and ice, protecting the land from invaders, she is the most beloved of the Gods and the one most commonly worshipped. Long ago it was believed that she gave power of ice and snow to those she loved as a blessing. However people now say she cursed those few that’s ancestors tried to kill her.
God Om Våren: God of Summer, sun and heat
Brother of Fanndis and the opposite of her, while she gave the ice and snow, he gave the people flowers and heat, making him the god of summer. He is however, considered lazy only willing to do his job for a few months before his elder sister does her job once more. The Festival of Om Våren is one of the few festivals still done once Summer has come to encourage him to stay awake longer.
